Underwhelming. Not very authentic. The food doesn't speak for it's self. Smothered with sauce (that isn't very good) there is no tasting the "homemade pasta". We were surprised by the tiramisu. It was one of the best in the area. Our service was excellent.

This is the best Italian in Indianapolis and some of the best I've ever had. One reviewer commented that when you step in the door you feel like you've left Indiana and gone to New York City. Well, that's a perfect description. This is the classic Italian restaurant that I crave. Even their website has the right music!!! I've never had anything I didn't like, but the minestrone soup I had here once ruined me for life. It was unlike any minestrone I've had before or since - no contest. Their gnocchi melt in your mouth and are just perfect. They always feature a lot of specials, so there's always something different. The dipping oil for the bread is great too. We bought some in a gift basket once and I'm almost out. I'll have to get back to Indy soon for a refill. Another nice thing is their wines come in a variety of pours. You can get tastes, regular glasses, half carafes, full carafes, and of course bottles. This works out great for whatever occasion so you can get just the right amount of vino without getting too drunk or spending too much. It's not the most expansive list, but there are enough options to choose from. The waitstaff is always very helpful explaining all the ingredients and great with special requests. They treat you like family. I've been to Capri (his brother's restaurant) and that was good too, but I think Matteo's is better.

My husband and I love Matteo's!! The bread and oil for dipping have great flavor. My favorite dish is TAGLIATELLA ALLA TARANTELLA. (Fettuccine pasta cooked with our homemade chicken sausage, garlic, fresh asparagus, sun dried tomatoes and a white wine cream sauce.) They travel to Italy for inspiration, so don't expect a typical American style Italian meal. And this is a little more expensive, so don't expect to pay Olive Gatden prices. But, it's worth every penny! It's like any restaurant, some things you'll love and some not so much. I hope you go and enjoy it as much as we do!

The owner and chef is indeed from Italy. One other reviewer mentioned the waitress had a fake accent, which I disagree with because our friends are from Italy and spoke with her. But on to the food... This place is your typical Americanized Italian restaurant. Nothing special and no short options of heavy cream dishes. For everyone who loves American Italian, this is your place. But if you enjoy authentic Italian cooking try somewhere else. The most Italian thing about this place is the chef, and unfortunately the food does not reflect this...

Love this place, great local Italian! Love the Spinach Ravioli!

We were very excited to check out Matteo's. A few friends had recommended it, and we were eager to try it for ourselves. We ordered the mussels as an appetizer. There were approximately two small mussels in a bowl, and two of them weren't opened. At approximately $15, this was not a good start. The mussels had a muddy taste to them. We eat mussels quite frequently, and these were the worst I have ever had. Onto the salads... I ordered a special chopped special. It was decent, but nothing special. It was very overpriced, as well. My husband ordered a Caesar salad. The dressing tasted like it was bottled...not impressed. We both ordered entrees with red sauce, and we were forcing ourselves to even eat it. The sauce reminded me of a jarred pasta sauce; it was terrible. The ambiance is very nice here, so the quality of food was quite disappointing. We finished the meal with bananas foster prepared table side. It was good, but way overpriced.

We've eaten at Matteo's a few times now and are big fans of the food! Their homemade bread is always hot, soft on the inside with a nice crust, and goes great with their dipping oil. The chicken lasagna and tortellini are by far the best entrees we've had there, but the veal and bolognese are great too. The atmosphere is nice, it's cozy with a "Little Italy" feel. The last two times it's been a little warm/stuffy in the dining room though. The only negative we have about this place is that the service is super slow. Don't go if you're in a hurry or starving, but it's worth the wait for the food!

Very good. We've been a few times and are always satisfied. It has a great atmosphere in a cute part of town, and they have great service. The food is very good, but I wouldn't call it exceptional. Every entree was very heavy on the cream and the pomodoro sauce is sweet. So it's typical American-Italian food. If you like that, you'll enjoy Matteo's. The panzerrotti croquettes are a great side, as is the homemade sausage. I have had the gnocchi, spinach ravioli and linguine puttanesca. All very good, but again, not exceptional. The prices were reasonable and I have thoroughly enjoyed every meal I have had there. If you are looking for authentic Italian food, there are better options. But overall, it is very tasty and reasonably priced with a good atmosphere and great service.

Bland and frozen food. Of the seven entrees we ordered tonight, only one was good. The fillet with gorgonzola was tasty. Everything else was a disappointment. The pomodoro tasted like Campbell's tomato soup with too much added cream. The ravioli tasted frozen and too salty. The same for the veal was worse than Olive Garden. Nobody could tell us if the chicken in the "award winning" chicken lasagna was farm or cage raised....which means the chef doesn't care. I feel like this is a restaurant that Gordon Ramsey would destroy. People who have given this restaurant rave reviews clearly have bad taste.

The best Italian restaurants in the area are all in the same family. My overall favorite eatery in the city is part of this network. I really really really want to rate Matteo's at least 3 stars (A-ok), but I can not. So here goes: - The prosciutto was so-so. - My dinner roll was not heated all the way through. + The tortellini was fantastic - cheese, ham, very rich creamsaucey goodness. - The veal I tried was not too tender and, - another in my party had lamb that was beyond medium. Its not often you hear the words "well done" and "lamb" in the same sentence. Nor is it often one has to ask for a steak knife to "soldier through", but these are the facts. If I left something out, it is because it was not worth mentioning. This really makes me think about the responsibility of these reviews.

My fiance and I decided to try this out with our Groupon last night. We had reservations, but I would say they are not needed on a Monday night. I loved the inside of the restaurant, as did he, great atmosphere. Our server, Jon, was super attentive and very knowledgeable. I ordered a glass of a Malbec and he ordered a Barley Island beer(bottles only). We both ordered the fried appetizer plate(why not?) and the calamari was good as were the raviolis and potato croquettes. We ordered from the specials and he got a veal mixed meatball the size of his fist and pasta and I ordered the chicken lasagna. I thought the lasagna itself was a bit bland, but if you took a bite of it with the sauce, it seemed to have more flavor. He enjoyed his dish. We both had left overs and they boxed it up for us to take home.We moved on to dessert and he go the panna cotta which was a very small portion and perfect for dessert. It was delicious. I ordered the Limoncello ladyfingers which were literally soaked in the liquor and was a bit overpowering if you didn't take some of the icing with each bite. It was an extremely large portion for dessert, but it was priced well.I would go back and try another dish as it was a beautiful restaurant and a great staff!

Service great, good Italian food but for the prices, not that good. If you want better Italian for the same price, head down to Glendale mall area in Indy and visit Capri. Its owned by Matteo's brother, but most things on the menu including the pastas are homemade and the wine list and menu offer more selection!

As many people have mentioned, the service here is only so-so. The three times I have been, the front-of-house greeters and seaters always seem to take forever to notice you, and some of the wait staff may or may not be putting on an accent. (We did ask one waitress to speak in her "native" Italian and she obliged beautifully). The food is excellent for the area. The house lasagna is robust and generously proportioned, and my one experience with the lamb chop was heavenly. It melted from the bone perfectly, and had a tender (but bold) flavor. The veal saltimboca was a trifle strong, but still enjoyable. If you make a reservation and get put with one of the less goofy waiters, you'll have a very enjoyable meal.

'Hi, table for four please.' 'We don't have anything.' (No attempt to say when something might be available.) I should have known this was a harbinger of things to come. After finally managing to get our names in, we headed back to the tiny bar. Despite one or two bartenders coming and going in the area, it was 15 minutes before we were acknowledged. Not a hello, not I'll be with you in a minute, nothing. We finally received drinks and although we had been told our table would be ready in 20 minutes, it was at least 45 before we were seated. Our waitress was full of the fake accents previously mentioned, which was irritating in the extreme. It's just so pretentious, although maybe if we had a better experience, it would have seemed simply odd. The food tasted fine, although when the hostess brought our calamari we pointed out a bug crawling on the dish. She laughed and said 'Oh well. Enjoy!' We were stunned at this reaction, but it was a fruit fly and seemed harmless. My entree was also brought with fruit flies. Yum! The food itself was actually acceptable, but certainly nothing special. I can only imagine those raving about this being the best Italian food in Indiana haven't been to many places. Our waitress made bananas foster for the table next to us, then insisted that we have a plate of their leftover sauce, despite our insistence we did not want their scraps. We've all had bananas foster before but she seemed to think it's a delicacy reserved for the gods and that we mortals should have a glimpse of this rare treat. It was nice to offer, but we really didn't want it and she brought it anyway. I went to the restroom where I found a kitchen employee finishing his business as I walked in. He headed straight for the door, opened it partway, looked back to see if I was looking at him, then acted put out that he felt obligated to wash his hands in front of a customer. Combined with all the fruit flies on our food, it gives me serious concerns about the kitchen's cleanliness. Finally, we were seated right next to a server's station. We could not go 20 seconds without servers working literally inches away from us. One server dropped a credit card and immediately dove under our table to look for it. Two stars b/c the food had a nice variety and was okay, but the overall experience is a half star, at best. We won't be back.

Good food is a state of mind and Matteo has done just that. When you walk through the front door you are no longer in Noblesville any more, you are stepping into some place in New York. The room is big but feels like home or your own happy space. The food is the best and the freshest around. It feels like ever dish has been made with your taste in mind. So my advice is set in relaxes and enjoy great food and a great place to eat it in! Remember to eat well and live well and please no chains!

Matteo's is located on the Noblesville square, in a beautifully designed space that manages to be both romantic and fit for families and large groups. The lasagna isn't listed on the menu, but is presented as a nightly special. And it truly is special! The sausages - chicken and pork - are made in house; the red sauce is out of this world, you'll want to drink it with a straw. They serve a spicy foccacia bread with dipping sauce, but be sure to save room for the dessert ... the bananas foster is the best I've ever had.

I wasn't overly impressed with Matteo's food-wise. Service was decent, the downtown Noblesville location is great, and the ambiance was very nice. However, if I am going to pay a little more for a meal I want it to taste good. I ordered the penne with asparagus, sun dried tomatoes, and a red cream sauce. The sauce was just not very good at all. The taste was strange and even mooping it up with bread didn't help. I was expecting freshly dried red tomatoes with whole asparagus placed upon a bed penne lightly covered with sauce. Instead it was penne smothered in sauce with the smallest pieces of diced asparagus I have ever seen/eaten. My sister was quite impressed with her dish that was a medley of seafood and linguine. My mom swears by her old Matteo's standby of the tortellini and my dad had the special, the chicken lasagna (it apparently tasted "just like lasagna!") The bread and oil you are served are excellent, which was a nice saving grace. The bread was seriously awesome and you get a lot of it. Daily specials are plentiful and the wine and cocktail menu isn't too shabby. As it was my sister's birthday, she received a complimentary dessert. Creme Brulee was better than expected.

  • Brad W.

Great atmosphere. The bread+dip is a great start to any meal. The penne norcia is always great, but heavy on the stomach. DON'T order the green beans as a side. For $6 you're getting half of a $.50 can of them. Way overpriced.

I have been there 4-5 times though not for a little while. The decor is fun and different. The seating is a bit tight so crowded conditions can occur. I am not a huge Italian food fan (my wife loves it) but I have always found something here that I like and maybe more. Sounds like J.T. had a bad experience - too bad but not enough to slam other reviewers who have been there on several occasions with good results. I will go back and update my review if things have changed.

Based on first time impression...I liked it, but would not rave about it. Good atmosphere and pretty good food. Very knowledgeable server. The asparagus soup was outstanding. The salmon with white wine, cream sauce was good, but not great. The bread they bring to the table is good and the oil mixture to dip it in was quite unique.

My husband and I recently dined at Matteo's for the first time in probably a year. As a vegetarian I feel guily for not frequenting them more often since they have one of the more veggie friendly menues in Noblesville. The decor seemed to have been improved, the service as always was great, and the food was as great as I remembered. We followed the meal with the best tiramisu this side of the atlantic limoncello. Matteo came by and wished us a great night (I think) in italian to truely cap the evening. I hope its not another year before we make it back

I didn't enjoy this place the first time around, but I was willing to give it a second try 3 years later hoping for improvement. We had a great waiter. My wine had a bug floating in it, and they did replace it, but it had the worst taste! The bread was so so, but the oil was good. I ordered a house salad that was lettuce and croutons for $6. I got the fish of the day ($27), which was good except for the bed of rice that was not cooked all the way. We ordered dessert and the tiramisu was lacking in flavor. I saw another reviewer's rave about the bananas foster - yeah, if you want to pay $17 for it. I did not try the rest of my party's meals, but they said they were decent, not great. Our bill was over $115 for 3 people plus tip -- so not worth it!!!

Very good Italian dining, sister restaurant of Capri/Amalfi. Nice menu with reasonable prices. The decor is nice, the high ceilings make it a bit loud and the bar is pretty tiny, so I wouldn't want to have to wait for a table. The waiter was nice but young. He absolutely butchered the cork on our bottle of wine, but that was the only issue with our service, which is nothing. I recently had mostacholi bolognese, which I often have at the Capri. While it was very good, it wasn't quite as good as the Capri. Like some others have said, the bread and oil is outstanding.

$500 mistake. Of the 9 of us, only 2 thought the meal was at a good level. The common reply was, kinda bland, not a lot of flavor. The signature chicken sausage lasagna, was about only that, hardly any cheese or sauce that makes the layers of a lasagna dish work so well. The other couple dishes I tasted, including mine, were sorely lacking even in the correct amount of salt (and I never reach for the salt before tasting). Not sure if anyone is tasting the food in the back. The special app stuffed pepper, came out immediately upon ordering, had obviously been precooked and completely bland other than the balsamic vin. And if you order a $30 steak in noblesville, don't make me pay another $7 for a side of pasta. Do yourself s favor and try the goat cheese torta with rosemary cream at Sangiovese, or the veal Marsala or bolognese at Ambrosia. I have to imagine Matteo's wouldn't last 6 months in Marion county. The night's saving grace, our waiter. He was just the perfect level of attentiveness and charm. I hope he finds better fields to wander.

Best Italian food I've had so far in Indy. The warm bread and mildly spicy dipping sauce is enough to bring me back in for another meal! The gnocchi was delicious - really couldn't have been better. Great relaxing atmosphere too.

Can't believe nobody has mentioned the Veal Shank-or the Limoncello, both the best I have ever had. The Limoncello not so sweet as those you can buy at the liquor store, much, much better! The Veal Shank- phenomenal!!!! Also, originally, they served marinated egg plant at no cost, now available upon request...great if you like different!! I love it...Emily and Matteo are also great people!

I was impressed. I've never understood the point of bread (I'm half-kidding), but the bread here was fantastic. In fact, all the food was quite impressive. I like their new tapas-style appetizer options, although we didn't go that route. We had calimari and caprese - the caprese was right on the money. I had the lasagna, which according to the waitress is their signature dish. I loved it, while another in our party didn't like it. It's not your typical lasagna - very sauce heavy and somewhat mushy. I thought it worked however. Ambience was good and our waitress was pretty stellar. Then again, her over-the-top use of Italian accents was a bit, eh, interesting (eg yelling "scusi!!" when she about ran into a waiter). But, I'll deal with fake accents when the service is spot-on. I'd go back.

Have had several nice meals at Matteos since we moved to Noblesville. Went there after the symphony on St. Valentine's Day - not good. Special menu with a bunch of pasta dishes I didn't really care for, no veal dishes to speak of, no meat, limited everything. And neither of us liked our dishes. The best thing we had was a bottle of good wine and their bread. We should have stopped there. I wasn't told of a special menu when I made my reservation. It was like eating at a Macaroni Grill, pedestrian food for the walk in crowd. Stay away from Matteo's on a special dining day or you will be greatly disappointed. Wait staff was good though.

Dining establishments should pride themselves on three elements: food, service and atmosphere. Matteo's was only successful at one element, and let me tell you for $170 I could have bought my own painting to stare at in the comfort of my own home. I will set the scene for you. It was yesterday, Mother's Day, when we arrived at Matteo's. It is inside a lovely old building on the square in Noblesville. The decor is typical 'Italian restaurant' with dark colored walls, chandeliers, black and white photos, paintings of wine bottles, white table clothes, and candles. The lady at the host stand was very friendly, and handled my boyfriend's joke about needing a table for 18 people with a breeze of confidence. She quickly seated the two of us to wait for the remaining four family members. While we waited, we asked for bread and butter. The basket of fluffy bread arrived at the speed of light thirty minutes later! Ah, we are off to a good start. The menu was described to us by the staff as 'southern Italian'. When these words are uttered I immediately start to have visions of fresh fish, puttanesca, and eggplant dancing in my head. The dancing stopped when I read the words cheese or cream in almost every dish. It was a lactose-intolerant's worst nightmare! Certainly not the light dishes I expected from southern Italy (I've been to Italy, so I have something to compare it to). This was so disappointing knowing the owner is, in fact, Italian. I guess you have to give the Midwest masses what they want: meat and cheese. Sigh. Our table, most of us unsatisfied with our options, were also further frustrated when we heard some of the specials were already sold-out. Our reservation was at 6pm. By 8pm, I would be surprised if they had any bread left. Ha! My boyfriend and I decided to split the pork shank on top of polenta and each have our own salad. At least the salad appeared to be in the 'southern Italian' theme. The salads arrive in good time. My boyfriend's caesar looks and tastes very average. My insalata giotto would have been perfect if it weren't for the vinaigrette dressing bath it took. The dressing was quite thick. If it had been a little more liquid I could have at least shaken a bit off of each spinach leaf, but who needs a work out at a Mother's Day dinner? Also, a sprinkling of pepper would have been a lovely addition to the salads. We were not offered any when the salads were presented. No pepper mill service?! What kind of white table cloth joint is this?! We finish our salads and wait for the main course. My boyfriend suddenly bursts out, "What is that in your water?!". Not just my water, but two other people at the table. Oh, joy. I am likely drinking soap residue that resembles sea monkeys. We inform the waiter and without saying a word he whisks away our glasses. No apology or acknowledgment at all, as if this was a normal occurrence. Maybe the pork shank will make up for this disaster. I spied several other tables ordering this specialty dish and it had my mouth watering. I just knew this would make up for it all, and I didn't even care to ask the price. Just give me something that tastes good. The plates of the split entree arrive to my boyfriend and I looking like all the others. My first bite there was immense anticipation for a flavor explosion. It was like the 4th of July when you see the trail of a firecracker rocket into the sky and then, poof! A dud. The entire dish was bland, so I took to the salt shaker three times. The blob of polenta was runny on the edges and solid toward the middle making for some texture confusion. The shank was moist and tender, but lacked flavor. I am guessing that's what the sauce was for. At least after my adjustments it tasted like salt. The server asks us for dessert. Oh, no... no, no. My stomach is too bloated from salt intake and unknown floating white particles to want dessert, but thank you for asking. I won't go into the other entrees that the rest of the table ordered. I'm sure you are not interested in a novel entitled 'Matteo's, Dinner of Disappointment'.

This is a go to Italian restaurant in Noblesville! Yet another gem in downtown. I've visited many a times. Either with a large group or a group of friends and even once with just my husband. There is something for everyone on the menu even with the pickiest eaters. They are usually very accommodating on special food requests. The last time we visited was for my daughter's 17th birthday. My youngest son whispered to the server that it was her birthday and ordered her a piece of cake...they brought it out with a sparkler in it! SOOO much fun and made her feel super special. The service and food have always been outstanding at Matteo's! Just make to make reservations during the busy times...otherwise the wait will be long but totally worth it!

Absolutely love this place in downtown Noblesville. It's a gem and the Italian chef/owner is nice. They bake their bread pretty much everyday and their olive oil dipping sauce is delicious. You don't come here counting your carbs for sure. The pasta is great as well as the entrees. My absolute fave is their creme brûlée that has a touch of Marsala wine that is torched table side. Their bananas foster, although the not quite Italian, is a powerhouse. It's probably the best that I've ever had and I've had several in my list. They put triple sec, orange zest, banana liquor, and Bacardi. Then they add cinnamon and premium ice cream?! Forget diet for sure. This place is awesome!

This was a great dining experience and the food was excellent. A little pricey, but worth the cost. The only downside was our table, seated at the back of the room across from the kitchen or prep area since there was a lot of waiter traffic and noise. We will come back. Reservations recommended.

We got there on a Sunday afternoon, just after they opened. I was really impressed with the appearance of the interior - just what I like from an Italian restaurant. Nice woodwork inside, and an overall cozy atmosphere. My wife had their signature tortellini dish, and I ended up eating most of it. It was absolutely incredible - off the charts. The chop salad was artfully presented, and had excellent flavor. The fresh-baked bread is a real loaf, sliced thick. I've seen some unfavorable reviews for Matteo's on Yelp, but those folks didn't go to the same restaurant I did today. The only reason I'm withholding the 5th star is because this place isn't in San Francisco. :) Not their fault, of course. Seriously though - I highly recommend Matteo's if you're looking for an authentic Italian meal.

Another great meal!! Limoncello was to die for! I asked what kind of Vodka they used and she said no vodka, we go straight for the ever clear!! A recipe after my own heart Solid Ceasar salad with anchovies and a light creamy dressing. The bread! Did I mention the bread? The secret oil blend with a hint of red pepper really completes the bread. You can't go wrong with the tortellini. Little puffy pockets filled with delicious cheese and paired with a creamy sauce, ham, Parmesan and mushrooms. Yummo!! Great service as always. Thanks Matteo's!

I came here alone on a business trip from LA. I liked the bread and oil to start. The oil is a little heavy on the garlic but I like that so that was a plus. The Mediterranean salad was also great. Delicious mix of walnuts and cheese with the perfect amount of dressing. I got the pollo Quattro formaggio as my main and this is where they lose the star. The chicken seemed a tad too tough and the bed of rice pilaf was over cooked. The cheese sauce was also a little rich for me. But overall I liked it and am glad I came here.

My dear husband made reservations here for our Valentines Day celebration. In one word - Fantastic! Service was impeccable, food was delicious, atmosphere was romantic although a little loud. We had no complaints. The bread and oil that is served was soooo good. We each ordered the side salad that was on special that evening. I wish I could remember what it was called because it was fantastic. For our entrees, I ordered the Tortellini and my husband ordered the Tagliatella Tarantella. We both loved our meals but agreed that the Tortellini was the winner between the two. We then ordered the creme brulee for desert and it was perfect. It was a great meal and would definitely recommend this place! On a side note, I took half my tortellini home and literally cried when I spilled it on the floor while carrying it from the microwave to the table. I guess I will have to go back and order more!

This restaurant is the closest to authentic I have ever eaten. I spent 2 weeks in Italy and every time I eat at Matteo's it takes me back there. The service is great. My favorite thing is you could go there and spend $40-$50 for a couple just as easily as you could spend $100 for a couple. You don't have to be looking to spend big money when you go there. If they have the veal osso buco special when you go I highly recommend it. The restaurant can handle large groups quite well. I've gone there with just me and my wife on a date as well as taking the kids along. It's worth eating here at least once.

We've been coming to Matteo's since they opened and have never had a bad experience. The bread is honestly the best I've had and I have to force myself to stop eating it so I can save room for the Penne Norcia -- my favorite. I'm laughing at the reviews talking about "fake accents" -- the chef and many of the servers are from Italy!

Visited for the first time for my birthday dinner and I'll definitely be back. We had fantastic service, great atmosphere, delicious food and a great price. Located in the square of Noblesville and if you get to sit by the window like we did, it's a nice area to look outside during dinner. I was served a free Tiramisu birthday dessert and it was delicious!

Being from Chicago, I never expect to like Italian food anywhere else. This place absolutely blew me away. The fact that it is in downtown Noblesville astonished me! Simple straightforward menu with perfect serving size. Places like Maggiano's try to hide the fact that their food is average with ridiculous serving sizes. Am I supposed to be excited that I can family of 6 with my leftover lasagna? No. Give me a nice portion made perfectly and I'll come back. Well done Mateo's!

If you're looking for a romantic restaurant, you have to go to Matteos! Best food and wine selection around. And you just have to meet the owners, they are super people.

We come here for special occasions but they never disappoint. Pretty expensive but very good. Service is always good and the restaurant is very clean and lively. It seems like they should pair a salad with the entrée rather than charging $6 for a small salad but I guess that allows you to choose a different appetizer if desired. The tortellini is probably 2000 calories but it is the best I've ever eaten.

The only thing saving it from being a 1 is that it was clean. The food was either over powering or bland. Still edible but unpleasant. Our bread, however, arrived burnt and the waiters said and did nothing. Overall, its way too expensive for less than mediocre food and I will not be going back.

Heavy on the cream sauces and dressings. I found it a bit unnecessary on the fresh salmon special. The fish was superb. The fresh bread and dipping oil was heavenly. Service fun and proper. Live music was nice. Marinara did not steal the show like it should. Green olives seemed to be in quite a few dishes. I wanted the house homemade sausage but they were sold out as I heard that it is a must.

Food was excellent. Price was awesome. Server was knowledgeable. Bread and atmosphere great. Big drawback was dinner was 2.5 hours for 2 people....way too long.

Stopped in for lunch while traveling through. Received awesome service from an Italian waiter, and food was the best I've had in the state. Excellent for people with a soy allergy as they use olive oil and everything is made from scratch.

Made a reservation, seated quickly, appetizer shrimp cocktail great and meal was just as good. Malbec wine was amazing. Very friendly staff, comfortable low light setting.

Homemade pasta check, Fresh tasty crusty bread check. I'm a fan. This is a great date place. Service is good. Also, if it's packed inside, you can order the food to go, and have a little romantic picnic at the park. Would definately come back.

This place doesn't have a great beer selection but the wine list is good and they have plenty of cocktails. I wish they had more bar space, because even when we've had reservations there have been times when its been a ten minute wait. When the restaurant is this busy you may need a bit more space for people to wait and have a drink. Everything is great by the time we sit down. These guys make an amazing lasagna. It's normally one of their specials because its a changing meat or vegetarian option every time. My favorite is their chicken lasagna, and that's big for me because I tend to be a meat eater. The gnocchi is also outstanding. They make an excellent tiramisu to finish your meal off as well. This is an awesome place to have in the heart of Noblesville. Its a restaurant that people should be willing to make the drive to.

Considering 9 out of 25 people got sick, I will never return to Matteo's. I know our host contacted the management regarding this serious issue, and hope they address the importance of food sanitation with ALL their staff members!

Amazing. Treated like a King. Delicious food and wonderful conversation with Matteo. Will go back over and over and over again!

We had a fine meal surrounded by family and friends! Quite a joyous occasion to be frank. I was rather disappointed with the caprese, as they didn't remove the core from the tomatoes!

My family and I had a wonderful experience here. The specials sounded delicious, but I ordered the Tagliatella Tarantella-- it had a delicious cream sauce which wasn't too heavy, pasta was cooked well, and the chicken sausage made the dish feel healthier. I loved my husband's cheese tortellini dish as well. My baby niece was with us, and she thoroughly enjoyed her kid's portion of gnocci. Service was good, and the Groupon transaction went smoothly. It's a place worth visiting again.

We made reservations which I heard was recommended. When we arrived at 6:30 they weren't extremely busy for a Thursday evening. Our waitress was nice, and very knowledgable about the menu. I ordered ravioli, my fiance ordered some chicken dish. Mine was very good, his on the other hand was just average. It tasted very bland..... The best part of our meal was the bread. For what you pay for your food the experience certainly isn't worth it.

There is one very very horrible thing about this restaurant and many wonderful things. Let me start with the good: The bread and oil at the beginning are excellent. I could have eaten the whole basket. I had "a businessman's staple" (according to the drink menu) dirty martini with gorgonzola stuffed olives. Fantastic! My husband's salad and pasta were great. My seafood linguini was ok. It was an item off the list of specials and presentation wise, stuffing a squid head (calamari) with a mix of other seafood that's been pureed is just odd. The atmosphere is great, especially compared to everywhere else in the area. It's classy, nicely decorated and the waitstaff were perfectly attentive and nice. We were seated right away at 6 on a Friday night. I was actually surprised they weren't that busy. There was a screaming baby for the first 10 minutes we were there but that's not the restaurant's fault. I put this in my review to let ANYONE that's considering bringing their baby or child here to NOT do it. It's a nice restaurant, one of a very small number in this very child-friendly area. Go anywhere else or get a babysitter. We had child care and having to listen to a baby scream for 10 minutes was the exact opposite of what I wanted to do with the 3 precious hours that I was child-free. So why the 3 star review? Well, I logged in to my Yelp account fully prepared to give it 4 stars. I was deducting 1 star for one reason: Fruit flies. Everywhere. However, before typing this, I read some other reviews and another review mentions fruit flies from 2009!!! That's 4 years ago! So there goes another star. We were seated near the kitchen which may explain why they were so bad in our location but that only speaks to the amount that must live in the kitchen. I was swatting away and squishing flies the entire time we were there. It was annoying and gross. Other than the insects, I really liked this place. (Well if THAT isn't the most unappealing line in a restaurant review, I don't know what is.) I really want to go back but I'm not sure I will based solely on the damn flies. It makes me question what other sanitation nightmares are going on back in the kitchen. If I do go back and it's better, I'll update my review.

AVOID THIS PLACE! Unless of course you like terrible food that is very over-priced considering how bad it is. I would have probably gotten better food at an Olive Garden. My veal piccata was rubbery and tasted like bottled lemon juice with absolutely no capers in it. My kids pizza tasted worse than the pizza kits that come in a box...they wouldn't even eat it and they love pizza. The bread was burned. Our cheese plate only came with half the cheese that it was supposed to and even though we asked we never got the rest of the cheese, because the kitchen apparently didn't know how to make it. The veggie sides clearly said they were for two people in the menu; however, when they came it was barley enough for one person. The server said he would bring more, but 15 minutes later and still nothing. By that point we we were done, and said that we were disappointed with the food. The server went to get the owner. Ten minutes later and the server said the owner would be another ten minutes, but we could have a free meal. I gave the server $20 for giving a great effort, despite having about 10 tables! He even agreed with me that the food looked bad and the kitchen staff is a problem for them. I will never go there again, which is sad because this used to be a decent place. You could try this place, but don't bother...just go to any other Italian place and you will get better food.

When eating dinner with a picky Italian who grew up with fantastic classic Italian cooking, it is risky to go to an Italian restaurant. Matteo's however got the Italian seal of approval, and I am proud to say it is 1 of only 2 Italian restaurants in the area to receive it. The lasagna was fantastic, and anything with the homemade sausage will be wholeheartedly recommended. Calamari, ravioli, and penne norcia all got the resounding yes. The tiramisu was great, although maybe a little heavy on the cocoa powder (easily inhaled).

Excellent dining experience! We're out of towners from DC, in Noblesville for a wedding. Not really knowing where to eat in the area we decided to base our dinner off of yelp reviews. It was a split between the Hamilton and Matteo's but opted for Matteo's as the menu looked better. We had reservations for 8, showed up at 8 and were seated immediately. The restaurant does have a solid wine menu, and I like that there's the carafe/half carafe option in addition to full bottle and glass. For appetizers we order the bruschetta and the calamari. Both were very good and large enough to serve two people. I ordered the Pollo Amore, which was two chicken breasts with mozzarella, lots of mushrooms and some rice pilaf. I thought the chicken itself was a bit bland so was happy there was a large pile of seasoned mushrooms and cheese to up the flavor. My fiancé ordered the penne Norcia but swapped the tomato sauce for the pesto-cream sauce. Apparently the owner's wife hear about that swap and gave him props for the flavor combination. My fiancé couldn't stop raving about his dish and wish he hadn't wasted stomach space on bread on apps. We ordered the potato croquettes and asparagus for sides, which were average. The asparagus, despite saying it serves two comes out with 5-6 stalks. That doesn't really seem like a lot of vegetables. The potato things look like corn dogs but ate instead filled with mashed potatoes which in my opinion were overly seasoned with pepper. The whole meal, two apps, two entrees, two sides, one bottle of wine and a half carafe of wine was $130 without tip. Probably one of the more expensive places in town but very reasonable to our DC blood considering the amount of food we got. In retrospect I think we'd pick one app, each order a salad to get our veggies ins and then skip the sides entirely.

Saturday evening in Noblesville at our favorite place. It's always good, but the BIG MEATBALL was fabulous! Give this place a tumble for good food, service and a unique atmosphere!

Whenever I am in town for business, I must make time for dinner at Matteo's. I love the bread and olive oil dip served before your meal. The bread is always hot and fresh. I can't say that I have tried anything but the ravioli filled with spinach and ricotta... So yummy. My only complaint is that I wish the portion was larger, because I always find myself licking the plate clean!!! There are always a number of daily specials to choose from to make your choice that much harder. Always save room for dessert. You can't go wrong with anything you choose!!

One of my favorite Italian restaurants! I have been many times and I have never been disappointed. They always have delicious new specials to try. I would highly recommend anyone to give it a try.

My boyfriend and I were given a recommendation to eat here when we were new to town... Excited for a nice dinner, we arrived. There was a little wait, which was expected on a Saturday night, so we grabbed a drink at the back bar. Upon being seated, our waiter was friendly and attentive. We both got the taguatella alla tarantella. I asked if the sauce was cheesy at all, because I don't like cheese. The waiter told me no, but when it came out the sauce was very heavy and very cheesy. I don't eat a lot of meat and had them give my boyfriend my portion of chicken sausage. He enjoyed his meal a lot... Until we got home. I will spare you yelpers the gross details, but upon getting home neither of us felt very good. My stomach was upset and he got a mild case of food poisoning, which lasted a good 24 hours. Very disappointing! The restaurant had good appeal and looked fancy, but it ended there...

Not bad, not great either. Ive have a lot better Italian food. Ive only been here once, so maybe it was what I ordered. I had some kind of veal dish, it was just so so. I didnt see anything from any of our group's plates that looked like I really had to taste. The atmosphere is pretty nice in downtown Noblesville, but Im just not thrilled about this place, especially for the price. My wife and I each had an entree and a glass of wine and shared an appetizer and dessert and our bill was $100 with tip. Maybe it was just a bad night, might try again in the future if other people really want to go. I would definitely rather go to Maggianos for that price and be completely satisfied.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
