Chuy’s Mexican Food Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

I will start off by saying, as usual, I got this to go. Don't judge. Don't hate. I work with people all day. Like truly with people. And sometimes that makes you not want to be surrounded by a lot of people. I ordered in so there was a minimum order. Meaning I had to get more than one person normally would, which is good for a review. I got a chicken burrito and their nachos. Those that keep along with my Yelp! reviews will know I love my nachos. I had a place near St. Louis where I would drive like 45 minutes to get to because I loved their nachos SO much (Seven Lounge... I am looking at you). I have been hunting for nachos in Indianapolis that are equally good. So far I have been unsuccessful, but Chuy's has been the closest. Not in execution (much different components), but in tastiness. The Nachos are four stars. Would be five if I wasn't so in love with those from Seven. The burrito was probably 4.5 stars. The chips and salsa though? Mediocre at best. I don't know why that bothers me, but it always does when a Mexican restaurant has chips that you don't feel like eating tons of.

A friend has been raving about Chuy's for months, so we went as a work group to celebrate her recent birthday. I was surprised at the insanity that hit me as I opened the door. It's kind of a senses overload and hard to take in everything on the walls; fun T-shirts galore, dog pictures, fiesta chotchkies everywhere. Adding to the chaos, they were already busy at 5:30 p.m. As I waited in the bar for my party to arrive, I was sold on a signature Margarita with Jalapeno infused tequila in a cocktail strainer equivalent to two drinks. I noticed people hovering around the tail end of a classic car and realized that they have a FREE nacho bar with chips, queso and beef set up from 4-7pm daily. It was quite the crowd-pleaser and depleted quickly, with servers hustling to keep it stocked. Once my group arrived we decided to enjoy the breeze on the patio and were quickly seated. The guacamole was tasty and the server kept us happy with assorted frozen libations as we chatted it up and celebrated. When it came time to order, I chose the Lite Plate, as it was easy fare consisting of a beef taco, guacamole & chile con queso. It's easy to fill up on the nacho bar, and I would probably plan on going just for drinks in the bar going forward unless I opted to bring the family.

I have visited Chuy's multiple times now and just am not impressed. I eat out frequently and have just hoped I would catch a good dinner here. I ordered a Big Bang burrito and was amazed that the plate, sides, and tortilla were very hot. Yet the meat and vegetables were easily room temperature. The burrito was just ok and far from special. The service is usually excellent. The food really comes off as something from Taco Bell but considerably more expensive. I can sum up the food in one word. Meh.

Being from the Austin area and having consumed MANY calories at the various Chuy's locales in both the Austin and Dallas area.....I can honestly say......that y'all need to take a trip down south to see what customer service is all about. I'm not even sure where to begin. This is Tex-Mex. chips and salsa should come to the table first......right away. I sat for 10 minutes before anyone even took my drink order. At the 20+ minute mark I was thankful for the nacho bar so I could get my own. Had to skip everything else that should be on the nacho bar as it was empty. I sat in the bar waiting for service, watching many patrons from the restaurant slide on in to help themselves to the nacho bar. Is no one filling their chop baskets either? Seriously, I was thrilled when a home town favorite came to Indy. You've ruined that. Quite frankly, you're a disgrace to The Chuy's name.

Yeah, after last night's visit, I'm taking away a couple of stars. Maybe they were having a bad night, and maybe it was a one-off issue, but that doesn't really matter. We were seated outside, even though we didn't ask for that. At some restaurants, being seated outside means you'll be ignored twice as much as the patrons inside. This would be one of those places. We waited 35 minutes for soup. The food finally came 25 minutes after that. It wasn't a good experience.

My first visit to this chain restaurant from Texas after hearing rave reviews. It's my 7y/o nephew's new fave (though that changes with the wind). Make no mistake, this is not a Mexican restaurant. Rather, it's authentic Tex-Mex, a style to which Chili's and others strive (they even have Shiner Bock beer nestled among the Mexican options) . This is bonafide chile lovers cuisine; the real deal. It's unpretentious tables with vinyl upholstered chairs resemble kitchen sets from the 50s. A 10 minute wait but responsibly handled and quick delivery of chips, salsa fresca, waters, appetizer and drinks to soldier us through the wait for food as it was really busy today. The queso dip is A large rich and flavorful portion served with warm corn tortilla chips. Hatch chiles were just spicy enough to make a pork filling and house made sauce beg for a lime and some fat to cool the heat. Chicken stuffed Fat Boy enchilada was a cooler counterpoint in a well flavored masa wrap. Both items were nicely balanced with excellent lime rice and creamy refried beans. Tami, this her second visit, reprised the soft chicken tacos of her first. Sauces and tortillas made fresh daily. If anything disappointed, it was the too mild roasted chiles offered as a side. We both left highly satisfied.

We came across Chuy's randomly while shopping and decided to give the place a shot based on the Yelp reviews. My fellow Yelpers have this place nailed as now it's going to be a staple especially during the free nachos hours. This restaurant hails from Austin, Texas and really knows how to pump out some really good food and drinks. Take notice rivals, Chuy's is setting the bar high. The atmosphere is fun with a Tex-Mex diner feeling. Hubcaps from the ceiling, photos of customers' dogs in the bar, tortilla station, and the trunk of a car that houses the daily nacho bar. Bring in a photo of your dog in a frame and you get to choose where it will be hung and enjoy a complimentary appetizer. I gotta do this! Friendly bartender and a decent seating area with high top tables. No beer on draft here. It's all bottles. Not a bad thing in my opinion. Start off your dining experience with fresh chips, salsa that's made every hour on the hour to ensure freshness, and a complimentary jalapeno dip that is so universal that you could put it on anything. I just wish they sold the stuff. The place was packed with a wait, but we arrived before the crowd arrived. Service was prompt and friendly. Not overly chatty, which I appreciate. So the food..... super good. Lots of perfectly paired flavors and a nice balance of spice. If you don't like a busy, crowded restaurant go somewhere else. I don't understand why other Yelpers are bashing this place over the crowd. To me, a crowd is an indication of an excellent restaurant, one that is doing it right delivering a great product, experience, and value. If you're in the area make a stop even for a drink. Experience the fun vibe, the food, and a crowd that loves them some Chuy's. Looking forward to the next visit!

Great tex-mex style place. Glad the people of Austin, TX is bringing this place in Indy. The decor is lively and plenty of large tables for big parties. They have an outdoor veranda which is perfect during the summer. A kids menu is available and the usual fare of tacos, enchiladas and burritos are to be expected. Margaritas are a recommended drink. Don't expect this to be a traditional mexican restaurant similar to your fave place in cancun or Cabo San Lucas. It's just not. As for desserts, it's just ok. I'll probably skip this part. However, you can never say no to the chips and salsa when they initially place it in your table. Just ask for a side of guacamole and you're good to go.

Still reasonably new but very very consistent and in a good way! The staff is exceptional and if I think about it may be some of the best around! They seem to want to go out of their way to make your visit a positive one! Also they make their own chips and tortillas which are out of this world. We have eaten here several times at different times of the day and have always had a great time! It's a fun and clean environment and I highly recommend this place.

I love their Chicken Fajitas... It's usually always what I get, however I've recently tried the Tacos Al Carbon which is a good alternative for a cheaper price. They have fresh, floury tortillas and it's all very flavorful. Chips are thin and salty. The jalapeño dip is awesome. I've also had the Baja Tacos which are also tasty. The decor is unique, however it doesn't seem too acoustically sound because it can get pretty loud inside. It's also always very cold.

This place is awesome!!! Rockin' good food and amazing drinks! The staff was very helpful and went the extra mile for us! I had so much food left over I had some for my lunch and dinner the next day! I also liked the ambience there. We sat outside and it was also nice and not as loud as the inside. Their homemade tortillas were very tasty, too!

Stopped in at Chuy's to try the new place in town. The parking lot was extremely full so I thought there would be a wait but we were promptly seated. The decor is a little odd. There is tile EVERYWHERE! I saw at least 5 different designs of tile in the room from where I was seated but it did kinda for the room. There were so metal Palm trees throughout the restaurant. I ordered the steak fajitas. While we were waiting, they served very fresh salsa and fresh thin chips. The dinner arrived a short time later and had a great presentation. The shredded cheese in the toppings bowl was fresh along with the other toppings. The flavor was very good and the price was right but it wasn't outstanding. I just have to say that expected something more.

I know Tex-Mex and this some of the best you will find outside of Texas. The food is always GOOD! We love this place, but it can be crowded. We normal sit in the bar because there can be a long wait time on a table. They have a chip and salsa bar. Monday - Friday there is a free nachos bar. We love the burritos and fajitas they are a must try. Try the creamy cilantro dip.

Surprised with a full parking lot that there was no wait to get in the door. They have an amazing amount of space inside. The decor is a little confusing as there are Mexican tiles on the floor and ceiling, diner style tables and chairs, and the menu mentions Elvis Pressley several times. The server was very quick with chips, Salsa, and beverages. The food also came fairly quickly for having a full restaurant. The fish tacos had a great flavor and the creamy jalapeno sauce with cabbage was just the right flavor. My fiancé had the steak fajitas. The meat was done right, and there were several fixins that he could add to it. These included sour cream, guacamole, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, beans, and Rice. They seem to be decently priced and the menu has a ton of variety on it to accommodate vegetarians as well as meat eaters. It is worth a try.

Really decent first impression. We came here on a Saturday evening while in the area to meet friends at the nearby theater. I also had a coupon for free queso from a prior Yelp event so I was excited to check the place out! It was quite busy but they told us we could check out the bar to see if there was seating so we found a table in the area. Service was pretty good based on how busy I could tell she was. We really enjoyed the queso and chips so that kept us entertained while we waited for our entrees. We both got burritos, different types, I can't remember exactly what mine was but it was chicken with a green sauce and delicious. My husband like his too. They were also big, and with all the chips I ate, I ended up bringing half home. It made a good leftover lunch! One thing I love about the bar is all the pictures of dogs, adorable touch! If I am every up in this area again, I wouldn't hesitate to stop in, however, it is very far from my home so it could be a while! Or who knows, maybe they will expand!

This is a far cry from authentic Mexican but, like most ethnic food in Indiana it was americanized Mexican food. I didn't want anything too spicy so I ordered sauces that were mild with my meal. You can add sauces with your meal that are different levels of spiciness. I liked the salsa, it wasn't too saucy and was obviously freshly chopped. The chips were thin and crispy and not too salty. For my entree I had the vegetarian enchiladas. They had fresh vegetables that were crispy. The Spanish rice and refried beans were the same that I have had in any Mexican restaurant. I was impressed by the fresh veggies. I hate Don Pablo's, which I think is too salty and greasy. This is much better than Don Pablo's. Next time I will go back for dinner and make my husband drive so I can have a margarita.

  • Robyn B.

All I need to say is Mon - Thu - 4pm- 7pm Nacho Car in the bar! Also, if you've never been before, ask about the sauces...you'll quickly learn about them!! I love that you can choose both sauces and meat for each item if you get a combo, and they have combos that are a choice of two items! Often at Mexican restaurants, I have trouble narrowing down to one item or committing to a plate of 3 of one thing like the enchilada plate or taco plate. However, I also don't want a plate of 3-5 items! That's just too much food. Also, you must be careful to leave room for the tres leches cake! This is my favorite Mexican chain!

First I would like to say thank you to Chris F. on Yelp for letting me know of this place. WOW! Only 10 minutes from where I work, and I will let you know this will be a place I frequent often! The atmosphere is incredible. A lot of energy, service staff smiling, and the place is clean and very hospitable. I was greeted right at the front door and asked if I would like to sit in the bar since I didn't have anyone else with me. Sounded like a great idea, so I sat up at the bar. Christy was my server, and I must say, she is one of the most attentive servers I have ever seen! WOW! She was happy, energetic, knowledgeable about the menu, and very entertaining. The chips and salsa were served within 1 minute of me sitting down. The chips were warm, perfectly salted, and the salsa was so fresh and delicious! Christy then suggested I try their creamy jalapeno sauce with the chips. HOLY AWESOME SAUCE! I nearly did a happy dance in my seat upon tasting it! Yes, it is that great! I ordered my entree, a 12 inch ground sirloin burrito. HEAVEN in a tortilla! I had it served with the green hatch chili sauce, and let me tell you, it was THE BEST burrito I have ever had, Spicy, but not over the top. The sauce was smoky, and oh so amazing. I did not want to take the last bite for fear I would be depressed it was gone. It was served with tasty rice and guacamole. It was as close to perfection as you can get for lunch. It made my Monday feel like a Friday. Yes, that awesome! I also got to chat with Chris F., an elite Yelper who recommended this place to me. Made the experience that much better to meet a fellow Yelper! THANK YOU CHRIS! I think one of their t-shirts will be a Christmas gift I buy myself this year. I am already daydreaming of what I will order the next time I am there.

Seems they've lost a little something....good atmosphere, but the flavor of the food, as well as the previously-friendly customer service is severely diminished. Today's server was just ok at best...nothing spectacular at all. Seemed he (Nathan R.) just wasn't at all interested in offering quality, friendly service, and merely wanted to get the job done and get us out of his way. Never offered another margarita, and simply took away my not-quite-empty glass without a single word. Never a smile, nothing remotely friendly in his tone or demeanor -- just very robotic and rehearsed, and completely disinterested in making his guests feel welcome. Chuy's WAS a really good place, with food that reminded me so much of the food from home - New Mexico. But, sadly, they've moved in a direction catering more toward drinks (margaritas ARE good!) and a place to get slightly better than Taco Bell food. A real shame, and has taken my past reviews from 4 and 5 stars, to BARELY 2 stars -- saving grace was the margarita. I would have really enjoyed another...had I even been asked.

Finally! Some good Tex-Mex food in Indiana. Don't confuse it with Mexican food. There's a difference. I've been familiar with Chuy's from my time living in Austin, Texas in the late 90s. You come for the food and stay for the kitsch. You could spend hours wandering around the restaurant looking at all the crazy decor there and the new Noblesville location is no different. What's keeping this Chuy's from a 5-star review right now is the service. I ate here on only their 5th day of operation (1st Saturday) and it was a little chaotic inside. The servers were still in training so they had all their shifts there at the same time so we were bombarded with staff. They got a couple of our orders wrong. 1st out of our table of 7, 2 people ordered one of their margaritas. One with salt, the other without. However when they came but they had salt on both glasses. Also, someone in our party ordered one of their enchilada plates with the green sauce (tomatillo) and the hatch chile rice, but they messed up and put hatch chile sauce (amazing, by the way) on the enchilada and gave her the regular rice. The remade her order and it came out very quick, which was good. These are minor details that I expect to be ironed out in a couple weeks once the servers and the cooks/bartenders get on the same page. More about hatch chiles. For those who don't know, the presence of the hatch chile is one thing that distinguishes Tex-Mex from Mexican food. It's a hot pepper that is truly embraced by the Southwest and is nowhere to be found in Mexican food. In fact, it is revered in New Mexico and is the state vegetable. The Hatch Valley is the only place it can be grown (similar to how champagne only comes from France). The town of Hatch, NM, hosts an huge annual festival that is attended by culinary luminaries and is covered by the press. I've always come to Chuy's for the enchiladas. You can substitute their recommended sauces to any of their seven (!) amazing sauces. All the tortillas and chips are handmade daily. In fact, Chuy's is so proud of this fact, that they've placed the tortilleria smack dab in the middle of the restaurant so you can watch the ladies at work (there were 4 at the time) from your table. Or you can walk up to the window and press your face up to the glass for a closer view. Try to come early otherwise expect a wait. We came at 11 AM (the time they open on Saturdays) to be sure we got a table right away. It's a good thing we did. By the time we left, there were people not only waiting inside, but outside as well. This is truly different than the usual Indy beans & rice joint.

Chuy's was just so-so. Literally this place is a don pablo's caliber/style mexican restaurant but nothing we ordered tasted very good at all. Nothing was bad but there was nothing savory or rememberable either. I ordered the Elvis Memorial trio and as I was moving from each enchilada to the next I had no memory of what the previous one even tasted like. Just bland-boring food. The ambiance is sort of fun and it would probably be a good place to just meet up for some drinks but there are way better options for mediocre mexican food.

While many people would call this 'Tex-Mex' you have to remember this is not traditional Tex-mex. I am from Texas and have eaten my fair share of Traditional Mexican food and Tex-Mex. this is Tex-Mex with an Austin twist, which is to say that the food falls in line with the catch phrase for Austin, "Keep Austin Weird". When I moved up to Indianapolis about a year ago the store had just opened and the food was on par with the original Chuy's down in Austin, TX. I have eaten there a dozen more times and the food is still special to me, it reminds me of home. The salsa is spicy and hand made, you can't find much better this far north. The creamy jalapeño dip is my favorite. The best time to go is during hatch chili season to take part in the festivities. Don't forget, they love Elvis at Chuy's and as he was the King of Rock and Roll, Chuy's is the king of 'Tex-Mex'.

I first visited Chuy's during a trip to Nashville last year, so I was ecstatic to find out they were opening a location here in Indy! We went today for my dad's birthday, and the place was PACKED. But the atmosphere makes the wait go very quickly, and it was worth every second. First off, one bite of the salsa and I was absolutely sold. It was so fresh with just the right amount of spice. Then came the queso, and I'd like to think that I have a very high standard in terms of queso. I mean... there's absolutely nothing that completes a tex-mex meal like delicious queso. It was cheesy, with a smokey flavor and once again just the right amount of spice! At this point, Chuy's was at 5 stars... so it would've taken a complete trashed entree to knock off any stars, and obviously that didn't happen! I ordered the Elvis combo which consisted of a delicious assortment of enchiladas, a hard taco, and chips with more of the queso. The food was obviously to die for, the service was exceptional... as they were on top of making sure our large table always had full drinks and plenty of chips with salsa, and the atmosphere gave you plenty to look at! Chuy's is worth the drive, no matter what side of town you are on. You don't want to miss out on this place!

The enchilada was alright, sauce that was over the top of it had flavor but no spice. Ground beef in taco lacked any seasoning and fact that do not have salsa did not help. Your only thing close is the pico de gallo which has no spice. I think my biggest let down is NO SALSA... The chips were perfect thin salty heaven...in need of a spicy salsa to dip them in not a pico de gallo for dipping. The tomatoes were not even ripe in the pico de gallo (found out they call it salsa here)

If loving free nachos is wrong I don't wanna be right. My sister in law always showed up to our summer family vacations past in a Chuy's TShirt and would sing the praises of this Tex Mex joint she frequented in Texas every time she was there. Then we got a Chuy's in Indy ... Cue the angels singing. Sure, it's a "chain". Sure, it's packed on the weekends and some week nights. Sure, there are plenty of other places to go. What draws us back again and again is the friendly staff and the personalized service. We usually sit at the bar and from our second visit Will and Ginny knew our drink order, our favorites, my strange food preparation requests, and even that my husband has a major allergy. Now within seconds of being seated our drinks are in front of us, the creamy jalapeño ranch dip (crack) has arrived, and we are catching up. Love it. Margaritas are on point and they will do a side car. Yummy tortillas made on site. Guac is super tasty. I love the Chuychanga... Modified of course. Hit Chuy's between 4pm and 7pm Monday through Friday for the free Nacho "car" in the bar. Bring in a framed picture of your dogs and get a free appetizer. I love that they are so supportive of rescue pups!! Whilst loading up on free meat, queso, beans, and salsa -- look up. The Mac Pack is pictured next to Butler Blue III. :)

I debated giving Chuy's one star, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and score them two stars. I ate at Chuy's tonight with my wife, three kids, mother-in-law and grandmother-in-law. We ordered a few appetizers, combo fajitas (chicken and steak), grilled chicken salad and a taco salad. I will begin with the good: - The combo fajitas had really good flavor. The onions were delicious and the meat was tasty. It was a simple dish - grilled meat over onions - but it was done well. - The grilled chicken salad was good. Large portion of avocado and chicken on a bed of greens. - The server knew we were unhappy and tried very hard to make us feel better (the reason for our unhappiness falls into the "not so good" category below). Now onto the not so good: - We were told it would be a 20 minute wait. Approximately one hour later, we were seated. I'd be annoyed by that if I were just out with adults - with little kids, an hour wait can be brutal, especially when you're expecting a short wait. - Because of the long wait, the manager offered to buy appetizers for us (the act of buying us appetizers should probably fall into the "good" category). We got guacamole, queso and quesadillas. -The guac was actually quite good. The portion size was deceptive as the scoops of guac were on iceberg lettuce, but the flavor was good. - The queso was flavorless. It was unfortunate, because good queso can be yummy. It was also our server's recommended appetizer. - The quesadilla was pretty bland. It was big - four small, round tortillas filled with cheese - but they had no flavor. There are too many average chain Mexican restaurants in the area to justify bad service and bland food. I am glad other people liked this place, but I don't see a reason to go back.

I really wanted to like Chuy's because I love Mexican food and it's been packed ever since it's been open but I wasn't overly impressed with my first experience. Since you can't seem to get in, my husband and I decided to order carry out a few weekends ago. We called in our order and were given a 20 minute wait time. We pulled in and they were swamped. After getting through all of the people waiting outside, we walked in and were immediately confused. The decor is a little crazy and I felt myself trying to look everywhere and at everything. We went up to the hostess stand and said we were there for a carry out order. The first girl we spoke to told another girl who then proceeded to pass the buck to someone else but then one of the male employees overheard and said he was going to get our order. I wasn't aware it took that many people to get an order. I had ordered the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and it was good but I wasn't overly impressed. My husband ordered a bean and cheese burrito. He was offered a choice of sauce and didn't really like what he chose. Perhaps we missed it on the menu but we didn't see the list of sauces nor a description so when asked, he just picked one. The person that took our order tried to explain them over the phone but as she was rattling off 5 or 6 sauces with a busy restaurant in the back ground so it was hard to get a good idea of the differences. We want to go back and give it another shot once the excitement dies down and we can get it at normal time. I'd like to try another dish and check out this decor more.

It's ok, normal Mexican food. It's the TGIF of Mexican joints. Margaritas are very small compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area. Staff are friendly and had a good experience. The bathrooms are nice which was good since I immediately blew ass all over the porcelain toilets after eating their refried beans.

Best Tex Mex in the area. Glad they are expanding. I've been to the Dallas locations in the past and loved it. Couldn't believe that they were in Indiana now! Love the chips and service is top notch.

Its been so good at other locations.. I guess I was expecting more. The crack dip\jalapeno ranch dip was good as it always is. I had the Saturday special, which was basically a HUGE pork burrito. About 40% of the meat in the burrito was inedible as it was all fat. So I got stuck not eating, what should be the best part of the burrito. The service was good and the staff was friendly.. but I came for the food. My wifes food was just average... not great, not bad. One good thing.. their childrens dishes are priced pretty well.

If only zero stars were available. Negative stars. We were stuck deep in suburbia, fighting hunger, and with no options aside from chains. Chuy's became the default choice. One drink at the bar and I notice not a single Hispanic employee - never a good sign for any "Mexican" restaurant. We move outside for dinner with a view of the CVS and McDonald's across the concrete mall parking lot. As enchanting as this wasn't, the food and service to come were even worse. When a 'Tex-Mex' chain makes Don Pablo's seem "authentically Mexican," you know things are far from ideal. A friend had gushed over a "dill- jalapeno dip,' so we ordered some. Only there wasn't any jalapeno in it, only dill. An apt metaphor for the tasteless, often cold, and completely spiceless fare we were to be subjected to and charged for. I ordered something called "This Killed Elvis." This dish my have indeed bored The King to death: three large, bland, unappealing burritos that set there limply; beyond tepid, beyond mediocre, bordering on vomitous. My girfriend's plate was equally unappetizing, and she left 7/8 of its inedible contents undisturbed. While searching for the nearest exit, our server asked if we desired to-go containers for the multitude of food we couldn't even fathom putting into our mouths. We looked at her is if she were absurdly insane. In summary, Taco Bell is a far better use of your suburban 'Tex-Mex' discretionary income. Better yet, come into the city for actual Mexican food at actual non-chains who employ real-life Mexican cooks. Otherwise, I'd choose abject hunger over Chuy's if faced with those options again.

My wife and I go to Chuy's when we are itching for all things Mexican. The environment is friendly and the wait staff makes it their point to go out of the way to ensure that your experience there will be memorable. My menu favorite is the Burrito, my wife prefers the fajitas. When we go, the place is always packed which is a good sign. No one eats at a place with poor service or sub par food. So if you are willing to endure a full parking lot and maybe a five to ten minute wait then Chuy's is the place to be. I recommend eating at the bar if there are no kids in your party. Less wait time.

My head about imploded from the colors. Then the dead people -- a lot of dead people on the walls. Then the fake palm trees with lots of lights and the music and the tables being super close together and the insane amount of large parties of people eating....packed to the brim. Welcome to suburban chain restaurants of America. Upside -- it's loud. Bring your kids and enjoy a meal with them! No one cares how rowdy ANYONE is b/c you can't hear anything over the loud music. Downside: It's loud. Holy hell balls. All that being said, I've been twice. You might be rolling your eyes at me. First, I went for a birthday celebration and the margs which are quite tasty! Second time, I went with my hubby and the kids b/c ....well, I knew we could get away with it. The food is OK. It's not blowing my mind, but I like the Chuy's Lite Plate is a great portion and truly light. I didn't feel like crap for two days after like I might if I go to a "real" Mexican joint. I also did enjoy the guac. Service was good both times. Polite, on it and food came out quickly. Overall -- if you like loud, if you like OK tex-mex and you enjoy a good marg, give it a go. If you do NOT want to be bombarded by suburban toddlers screaming or by an onslaught of confused decor, avoid. Simple, right?

Having been to Austin, TX, to experience the world class food they have- namely, Tex Mex- I had high hopes for this restaurant. I was disappointed. First, the salsa they have is better than average, but the chips are so paper-thin, they can't support the salsa. Forget trying to scoop guac with these chips! That brings me to the guac- I don't believe this to be homemade. It lacked flavor. I got the Classic Tex Mex enchiladas, which are their cheese and onion enchiladas. The rice was over cooked and dry. The enchiladas weren't overly hot (temperature-wise) although my plate was a million degrees... Not sure how that happens. All in all, it was disappointing. I'd recommend just getting some salsa and a margarita-- get dinner elsewhere.

Wow, I just did not get this joint. From the confusing decor--is it music themed? Tropical themed? There's something to do with fish?--to the blah menu. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Tex-Mex and Mexican food and I'm happy with simple dishes with great flavor. But this just didn't deliver. My enchilada was so dry I had to put the table's salsa on it. The green chili rice had weird components that were prickly. Yes, the rice was prickly. Never thought I'd use that phrase in a Yelp review. Drink specials were the saving grace, as were the light and crispy chips. The wait was pretty extensive, then our food took 45 minutes to come out. Don't think I'll head here again. Hacienda, I'm sorry I went behind your back. I've learned my lesson, I'll come to your place next time I want Mexican.

I heard good things from friends about this restaurant before visiting. Chuy's did not disappoint! The decor was great from the minute we walked in the door. The Elvis / Abe Lincoln portrait in the entryway made me smile immediately. The atmosphere was lively throughout. My husband and I were seated right away and welcomed by our server shortly after. She (I believe her name was Lisa) asked what we would like to drink, and at my request, suggested a margarita that was on special that night. After asking if we had eaten there before, she described all the sauces they offer and even brought samples for us to try. While we waited for our dinner, she noticed we had finished the creamy jalapeno sauce (which is delicious!) and brought us another sample, along with more chips and drink refills. Her service was impeccable during our entire visit. I ordered the Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom, and my husband ordered the Elvis Presley Memorial Combo. The food was very good - the tortillas were fresh, and the protein was of good quality. The prices were very reasonable for the quality of food and service. This is a great place that I will recommend to others.

Was not overly impressed with the food AT ALL. Incredibly bland. The yellow queso was decent. Service in the bar was good and pretty quick. Just a mediocre review for food reasons.

This place had been seriously hyped by my coworker for weeks. It took us 45+ minutes to get there during rush hour and there was another 30+ minute wait when we arrived. This was on a Tuesday or Wednesday. It was worth the driving and the wait. Weeknights from 4-7 there is a free nacho bar: chips, salsa, queso, taco meat, and the best refried beans you'll eat in your life. I've been trying to find excuses to come back just so I can load up on the nacho bar. Our food was served quickly, especially since we were distracted by the glorious nacho bar. I had the Tex Mex enchiladas which were cheese and onion. They were so good! I was kind of sad I filled up on chips but that meant I got to have my leftovers the next day. The prices were decent. I think with tax and tip my total was around $11 or $12. The atmosphere and bright and fun. Lots of energy and lots of movement. People going to the nacho bar, people going to see the tortillas being made in house. And just lots and lots of people in general. I've been avoiding writing this review because I knew it would have me craving more Chuy's and I was right, it has. We've planned a return trip in June and I'm literally counting down the days.

What a waste of money Expensive drinks Horrible margaritas Queso tastes watery Most generic menu for food. I wouldn't ever come back, don't waste your time. Don Pablo's was better and that's not saying very much. If I could give zero stars I would, but our server was pretty awesome so 1 shall due.

I gave this place three chances and it struck out all three times. Very clustered seating, which makes it a little complicated to navigate through. The rice and beans are pretty good, but I have not had an entree that was good. Everything is smothered in a meat sauce, so if you are a vegetarian BEWARE. Upon my final visit, the waitress completely ignored us a majority of the time and when I tried to flag her down, she made sure not to look out direction. I will not be visiting Chuy's ever again. The only positive is the photos of the locals dogs in the bar; that I did love.

Great tex-mex food, but the chips, salsa, and queso are fantastic. The chips are thinner and crisper than what you find at a lot of restaurants. So good. I had a bean burrito, which was very tasty. The beans here have more texture than the very smooth types you find elsewhere. My husband and I first ate at Chuy's in Austin years ago and were happy to see one so close. The margarita was delicious as well. You will likely wait for a seat (the one in Austin was notorious for wait times and I suspect that this will be the same). The bar area had plenty of open tables when my husband and I went, but the bar area is only drinks and appetizers, not full menu. Once we were seated, service was quite fast and our server was very attentive. We will definitely be back.

What a night. Our experience tonight made us feel like we were on a hidden camera tv show. 1.) the pager given to us was broken. We asked how much longer and the response was 10 more minutes. 30 minutes after 35 minutes we asked what's going on? They crossed us off as no shows. One of the hostesses came back and said no pager 45 is broke. We ended up waiting 1 hour 5 minutes After being told it would be 30-35. 2.) We refilled our own chips after running out. Not one employee came by and checked on our basket of chips. 3.) My wife's food tasted like my children attempted to make chicken tacos on a Friday morning. After all of this, I will give them positive feedback since the management team did everything to make sure we were taken Care of. It was not the experience we wanted. At the same time, I know people have off nights. I'm hoping this was the case. We will give them another chance and see how it goes.

My girlfriend and I brought our 4 years olds this past Sunday around 430. There was no wait which was nice. Our waitress was unfortunately flustered (don't think she smiled once) and less than friendly. She also messed our order up with w 2 items and then forgot our kids over cream at the end. Then my gf ordered a to go meal at the end which was also messed up. Pretty disappointed

This is my 4th or 5th time eating here, and each time has been better than the last. Very nice staff, great service, and even better food! Today was an exceptionally excellent visit. Our waitress was Nicole and she was possibly the best waitress I've ever had. We had complicated orders and lots of add-ons, and she handled them like a champ. Her quality of service inspired me to finally leave a review on this place! I tell everyone I talk to that they need to go here. I've had a variety of menu items, and each thing I order is delicious. I especially love the stacked enchiladas. Of course the salsa is amazing, too. If you haven't already, or if you're like my Mexican dad and don't eat at Mexicans restaurants, you seriously need to give this place a try. You will not regret it.

We enjoy Chuy's! My husband is Mexican and tends to not like many Mexican restaurants here in Indiana (they don't compare to the Mexican food you can get in his home state, they really don't), but he likes this place because it's tex-mex, they aren't trying to be authentic. I love the chili rellenos and enchiladas. The fajitas are also tasty and the homemade tortillas are delicious. I'm a big fan of the creamy jalapeño sauce which they have started delivering with chips and salsa. When the place is busy, there can be a wait. It can get very loud and service will start to suffer, which is the only reason I gave it 4 stars.

I can't say that we were super impressed by our lunch. Usually there is a long wait for a table at dinner time so we were happy to get seated quickly for lunch. Our server was prompt and friendly but we weren't super happy with the food. Their coke products are flat, I tried several. The chips and tortillas were fresh and tasted homemade. Aside from that everything else was pretty standard. Chicken tacos were boring and my rice and beans weren't fresh. My fiancé likes her enchiladas but wasn't a fan of the plain rice and beans either. I still don't understand why these Mexican restaurants charge at least a dollar for a scope of sour cream? Drives me nuts. Overall we weren't impressed enough to spend 30$ on lunch again.

This was our first time and here and we WILL be back! They have great service and no long waits! The food is amazing!! They are humongous portions also. The chips and salsa are to die for and the jalapeño ranch sauce......ummmm, yeah, Amazballs!

We were eager to try the new restaurant in town. So disappointed. Ordered beef and chicken fajitas. The flour tortillas had a gritty feel. Did not like them. Thought the chip bar with unlimited ground beef, melted cheese and refried beans was gimmicky and the decor nauseating.

  • Matt D.

The food was good, I have no complaints, but I also wasn't blown away. The wait times were not too bad which was surprising for this place, given its location. My main issue (and maybe this is just me): No margarita pitchers... When I go get Mexican food, a marg pitcher is mandatory. I hope they decide to start offering a pitcher soon, because I'd love to go here more often, and then I could raise my rating to 4.5 or maybe even 5 stars!

    (3)
  • Michael O.

The food wasn't bad, nor was it memorable, it just left me wanting more, not that the portions were small the flavor was just so plain, as another reviewer mentioned I had to use the salsa to add flavor to my tacos. When you take the wait time to just be seated and the lack of good service in to account it is not a place I would go back too or recommend.

This restaurant has pretty good food for a ok price. The atmosphere looks good but it gets very very loud during prime time hours. I have only been once but was sadly disappointed that the "nacho car" they talk about is located in the bar and so only parents can go get nachos and not the kids! That's the only reason I am taking a star away!

My husband and I got to try Chuy's on Sunday, at 4pm and it was so busy! Our waitress was amazing! She brought out this creamy ranch dip with some jalapenos in it that you can get for free, you just have to ask. I opted for the margarita with a corona in it. It was good and very easy to drink! The salsa was fresh and has a bit more kick than your run of the mill salsas. Upon inquiry, it is made with Serrano peppers, which lend the extra spice! I went with the Chicka-Chicka Boom Boom enchiladas and it was great. I was surprised that the chicken was so fresh and there were huge pieces of it. The rice and beans were a good complement. We headed out right before six and there had to be upwards of 40 people waiting for a table, insane!! Definitely will go back, but will be at random, off times to avoid a wait!

I will start out by saying I'm fan of CHAINS, I will walk 5 miles to eat at a home grown restaurant! So I will tell you I do like Chuy's a lot, I lived in Texas for 13 years and this is a true Tex Tex Mex Joint! The food was very tasty and the chips a salsa was fresh and tasted of Texas. This is not a Mexican restaurant and the food is by no way the real deal. That being said it is the real deal TEX MEX! The place was full of corp. managers and they where on top of everything, the servers are still straight out of the box's and seemed lost at time, I hope this will change with time. Remember to eat well and live well, and no chains(if you can help it)!

    (4)
  • Ellen B.

I've been to Chuy's 4 times and 3 of them they screwed up my order. Their margaritas are average, very expensive and small. The only nice thing about this place is the free dip and chips during happy hour. I've only gone back because others wanted to go there. I think it's over rated, and if I have my way I'll never go back !

Heading back home from a long car trip and very hungry. Thought to give Chuys a try and glad we did. Walked in at about 3:00pm and we had the place to ourselves. Pulled up to the bar for food and drink. It hit the spot. The beers were ice cold and the chicken Tacos perfect. Not very hard to mess these up yet, if a Mexican restaurant cant serve up a stapled item like tacos then turn and run. I'll be back at dinner time to try something else. I hear from others it gets busy and seating is a challenge. Maybe I'll scoot on up to the bar area again.

Still worth the wait in line! The staff here really seem to enjoy what they're doing...great recommendation from a waitress...steak burrito with boom boom sauce and a fried egg...this place has been on our go to list since they opened...don't let the line scare you :)

Tex-Mex is my favorite kind of food, and it doesn't get any better than at Chuy's. We went on the second weekend after they opened and it was still very busy (like most brand-new restaurants are). We had a long wait but it was worth every minute. If it weren't an hour away I'd be tempted to eat here for every meal. I got the Combo # 1 this time, which comes with a taco, enchilada, flautas and some tostadas dipped in their delicious queso. Their Chile Rellenos are also great and the Chuychanga is also a big favorite of mine too. What ever you pick, be sure to get some of their cool Creamy Jalapeno sauce. It makes everything exponentially better.

My mind is completely blown. The whole time I was there, it felt like I was on vacation. Usually around this area the food is just so-so with an occasional good meal to brag about, but this was by far the best meal I have had in the state. I know that might sound dramatic, but I promise I'm sincere. We had a margarita as well as the sangria and both were absolute perfection. The salsa wasn't my cup of tea but the creamy jalapeño dip (which wasn't spicy) was my favorite! The quesadilla was the best I've ever had and my wife enjoyed her bean and beef burrito. Although we had never had the tres leche cake, it was to die for. We couldn't believe how incredible the staff were and how amazing the entire dining experience was. Can't wait to go back!

Came for early dinner on a Tuesday, since its been so packed lately. The inside of the restaurant is vibrant and fun. The patio looks like a good place to sit on a cooler day. I had the southwestern enchiladas since it looked like one of the most unique menu items. It would have been helpful for our server to ask if we've been there before (since its a new place) and walk us through the menu. The enchiladas were good, but didn't blow me away. My wife enjoyed her margarita. The service was mediocre, we had to ask for more chips and salsa and our server seemed bored. There were also several servers standing around near our table socializing. We will probably try it again, but we came away a tad disappointed.

  • Jennifer V.

Delicious Tex Mex! I was pretty happy with our service and food. The decor could keep you preoccupied for days. When things got boring in conversation, my ADHD kicked in and I got lost in the little knick knacks and fun paintings. I don't remember my company I kept but I do remember the affect the bright orange and terrifying metallic palm trees had on me, similar to three cups of coffee.

Ate there as a family on Memorial Day evening - found the meal to be good not outstanding but good nonetheless. I thought the kids meals were priced fair and when there was an issue with my meal it was remedied quickly and effectively. The service while a little spotty was positive and kind. Enjoyed it on the whole.

When I saw how busy this place has been, I was wondering why a tex mex restaurant was so popular. I mean, don Pablo's isn't that great. So when I went yesterday, I was really trying to evaluate this place and see what made it different from other Mexican and tex mex places. And I was pleasantly surprised. This place is awesome. While the salsa for the chips has slightly too much salt (it's still good), the chips were amazing. So was the queso. So was the boom boom sauce. Really, everything was great. And not badly priced either. I'd go here over any Mexican restaurant around. It is better and stands out. The margarita I had was good too, by the way. And the atmosphere was really fun. And although my review is very sporadic, I have no doubts I wouldn't love to come here again and again.

The wife and I stopped by for dinner @ 4PM on Sunday afternoon, and our wait was about 15 minutes. We had a table next to the station where Chuy's prepares and grills the tortillas. My wife ordered the crispy tacos and I ordered a large bowl of Tortilla soup. We also ordered a bowl of Compuesto queso to enjoy with our chips and salsa. What impressed me most about the food was it's freshness. The soup was excellent and very tasty. Loved all the fresh ingredients. A friendly young staff who seemed to be having fun as they interacted with the customers and each other. Great place to take the family.

Would have been a 5, but it's so loud, and my husband's beer wasn't cold. Reasonably priced, food is good ( I had huge combo), hot, delivered quickly. No wait at lunch time, but still busy.

We went there on a Saturday around 5 o'clock and got a seat right away; however, we sat there for 15 minutes before anyone even stopped by to say anything. They messed up my food order (i ordered the beef chile relleno and got the chicken), but dealt with it because the staff was very unresponsive. The food was mediocre at best, I was not a huge fan. We will not be returning.

EDIT 3: The last two visits have been very good. They seem to have ballasted the ship. EDIT: Trip 2 was nowhere near as enjoyable. Arrived Sunday morning as they were opening, and even though 24 tables were open (I counted), they gave me a pager and told me that I had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. I wanted to leave, because On the Border and Don Pablo's each serve a very acceptable bowl of salsa, but the wife had her heart set on Chuy's. They explained that they couldn't fill all the tables because their kitchen would get too busy and would be behind, all day. This excuse is madness. Every successful restaurant has a kitchen that runs at full capacity, all day. Their Coca-Cola isn't mixed correctly and tasted lousy on both visits. This Chuy's is quickly starting to appear as a destination for far-Northsiders who are taking fast hold of their ability to enjoy dining north of Indianapolis city limits, so it might be jammed with Fishers/Noblesville/Pendleton folks for a good while. I think I'm going to let this Chuy's mature for a few months before I visit again. Original review below: Excellent. Typical Chuy's high quality. I've been to about 10 Chuyseses, and the quality on opening night was probably the best I've yet seen at any location. Can't wait to go back. Chuy's in Indy. Hooray! Finally! EDIT: I don't want my review to look like a corporate shill, so I'll explain a bit more. I ordered Hatch Chile Enchiladas, and they were excellent. You should also order these. The missus ordered a Chile Relleno, also excellent. Chuy's salsa is usually on the weaker side of my preferred heat range, but opening night salsa was appreciably warmer than I've had it at other locations. Quite excellent. Always, always, always, get the creamy jalapeno with your chips and salsa. When you think you can't eat any more, ask for another bowl. Take this bowl home in a take-out cup. Eat it the next day. Any day with Chuy's creamy jalapeno is better than a day without it.

I first heard of Chuy's while in Louisville last year. So, when I heard we were getting one, and right in my backyard to say the least, I was stoked! The chicka- chicka boom boom is my favorite along with charro beans. What ever you do, don't forget the creamy jalapeño dip..AKA CHUYS DIP. But if you do, that's okay, just more for me!

Fun atmosphere but seemed like pretty standard Mexican joint food. Got a taco, chalupa, enchillada combo and a fajita beef burrito. Both were tasty enough but very typical. People seem excited about it though, so we'll probably give it another shot sometime.

I had the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. It was good! Flavorful. Some heat, but not too much. Good portion size. Wife and the dependent had Chix Fajitas. They weren't too impressed. Don Pablo's has more flavor. Margaritas were good. Went down too quickly!

Ok place to take kids, loud and fun place but food is nothing great. It's basic Mexican food and I think any "dive" place beats the food here. Seems like Joes Crab Shack for Mexican. I had the fajitas and were nothing to brag about. The bar looks promising with a DIY salsa bar and good drink specials.

I would give Chuy's a 3.5. We went on a Thursday evening and were surprised to see how busy the restaurant was. I didn't like the crowded waiting area. The hostess looked completely freaked out and it didn't seem well organized. We got there pretty early to take advantage of the free salsa bar. There was ground beef, chips, salsa, and queso on the salsa bar. It was a bit difficult to get to due to the restaurant being crowded (it was only 6:00pm!) We also had a side of complimentary creamy jalapeño dip for our chips. I was not impressed with the salsa. It had an unpleasant "earthy" flavor. The queso was ok, not the best I've ever had. Chips were warm and crispy. I felt like the. Jalepeno sauce was overrated. It tasted like ranch. I ordered a combination platter for my entree. It was very spicy, but not flavorful. This is a good place to go if you are looking for large portions. The restaurant itself is extremely loud and crowded. Not a place you want to go and relax. Parking wasn't easy either. I doubt that I return and would prefer to go to a more authentic restaurant. This place had such a "chain" vibe to me and was too cluttered inside.

Finally tried and LOVED!! Really good tex-mex with lots of flavor. We used their curbside pickup which works great! I pulled in, called the number and food came out immediately. Easy and liked not having to get through the busy restaurant to pickup. Prices are great... Hubby and I ate for $20 and had extra food!! Highly recommend this place! Looking forward to eating in once it slows a bit.

  • Kerry H.

Margaritas are too expensive (about $10) for what you get. They taste great but only last about 4 sips. It took just over 30 minutes to get three simple entrees. Also had to send back my silverware for not being properly cleaned. Atmosphere is great. It does feel like you're on vacation. Fyi, the creamy salsa is just ranch basically which is a little unappetizing to dip a bunch of chips in but maybe that's just me. Service was friendly. I got the veggie enchiladas which were pretty good.

I tried this new hot spot today for lunch. They opened at 11am and we walked in shortly after 11am. We were seated right away. The waiter that served us was excellent at providing info about items on the menu and quick to check in on us during the meal. The other staff members all played a part by refilling our drinks and bringing more chips. I was pleased with quality of food and the amount for the price. I would definitely recommend stopping by there and trying the chips and sauces! I will say that on the way out there were about 15 people waiting in the lobby for a seat so arrive early.

  • Maranda M.

Really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Waitress was helpful in making selections. I highly recommend the appetizer platter. With multiple selections it gave us a taste if everything. My one complaint is the table placement is a little tight. Servers and customers had to compete for space. But this might also be because it's new and the 'flow' isn't down yet.

  • Chris A.

Tasteless.... Best word to describe the food the chips are thin and have no flavor, I had the chicken taquitoes (spelled incorrect apologize ) the chicken had no seasoning on it and tasted either microwaved or boiled, the sauce was cold and flavorless. We left smelling like the food it was stuck to our clothes. With so many local Mexican/ tex mex restaurants why anyone would eat here is beyond me honestly I Taco Bell would have tasted better, this was my first and last trip.

  • Katlin L.

First things first, it looks like spring break in there. And who doesn't love a colorful fun environment? Then, they bring you these rockin' thin chips served with this jalapeño cilantro ranch and salsa - which quite possibly could have been sent from the heavens. All six of us had our own bowls of the ranch because we simply could not put it down. To help wash that down, we had some pretty fantastic mango margaritas. I highly recommend the chica-Chica-boom-boom enchiladas because the sauce has a nice and spicy kick to it. Everything was wonderful and we cleaned our plates! Needless to say, we will be back soon :)

I had the fajita chicken in your face burrito and found it to be rather mediocre in flavor. The burrito was very large but had only a small amount of chicken. The large amount of beans in the burrito completely overwhelmed the taste, and I had only two bites of cheese in the whole burrito. The green chili rice that accompanied it was good, and the chips were excellent. The service was also excellent. If only the food had been as good as the service. I was excited that the salsa was made with fresh ingredients, but it had too much lime or lemon juice in it for my taste. And the complimentary creamy jalapeño dip was nothing more than ranch dressing. Overall it seemed that the ingredients were very run of the mill without being enhanced by any of the extras to bring out the flavor. It is very, very loud in the restaurant. We were about 10 feet from a table of 6, and we had difficulty carrying on a conversation. The server had to keep asking us to repeat as well. We were there for a late lunch(2:30) so the restaurant was not crowded.

Salsa and Queso was excellent, but was very disappointed in my meal. I got the chicka chicka boom boom dinner---everything was cold--beans look like they have been setting for a while. No flavor in the enchilada --just a small amount of chicken inside. Very disappointed after the salsa.
