I've been to the Hobnob on a few occasions. My wife likes the place more than I do. I've never had a bad meal here but I've never been blown away by the food either. The place hasn't been updated in a while and the there isn't much that can be done with the layout. I'm just going to keep trying different menu items till I have that great meal.

I went to Hobnob Corner because there was a power outage at the lodge I stayed at while on a hiking trip in Brown County. No lodge breakfast buffet able to be made so out to town we went. Nothing out of the ordinary as far as some over easy eggs and bacon were concerned. Bacon was crisp, eggs were fine. One thing that was a little different was the onion dill toast. It was really good and they bake it in the shop! Friendly service and reasonable prices from what I remember. Good coffee as well.

Had lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Both had the Pot Roast Sandwiches and steak fries. Service was friendly and prompt. Sandwiches good, meal size good. No complaints whatsoever. We'll be back. Amost forgot, They also has baked goods at the cash register, The cookies were good, but pricy at $2 each.

In this small town your food options are limited, but this place served an ok breakfast. Friendly staff and quick service helped, but the food was just ok. I would say the omelet was a bit greasy for my taste. Biscuits and gravy could have been less sausage and more country gravy tasting. It wasn't bad but I would try the few other places the locals recommend before returning.

My favorite place to eat in Nashville. I disagree with most of the other yelpers their menu is not traditional. Curry Chicken salad is not what you would expect on the average hoosier small town menu. My favorite is the quiche and french onion soup. The best french onion I've ever had, try it and try to figure out what makes it so different than all other recipes. The answer is rather simple, if you can figure it out. There's always a line out the door at noon on the weekends, so try it at odd hours if you can, but it is well worth the wait. Lunch is the tourist crowd, while breakfast & supper are locally supported. Also they do carry wine from the local Brown Co. vineyards.

A warm establishment with small portions catering to the throngs of tourists here. Prices are above the norm for the quantity of food you get. Great breads and the quality of the food is good. I am a local and I do enjoy their wine list as well as the beers available.

We went here after a day of hiking and I was pleasantly surprised at downtown Nashville. Hobnob is a quaint no fuss place you can come in casually dressed, but feel pampered by their hospitality. They have the pastry case and cash register in the front to pay after your meal. There are good classic American sandwiches for lunch and nice cuisine for dinner. I like how I can get veggies (steamed not drenched in fat!) with the meal. Our waitress was courteous, kept the drinks and condiments filled; checked on us just a the right times We came at 2 pm for lunch and although there was no wait, almost all the tables were taken. The pastries were on the side of crispy, but I ate the entire cheese Danish. The pot roast sandwich is their star attraction, but I liked my Rueben although a little light on the meat. I'd imagine there must quite a wait a meal times. On food it hits the basic notes well. Yes they have simple wooden chairs, come on, I think you can see it when you walk in.

My husband and I were told that the food at this restaurant was good so we decided to try it as we were exploring Nashville's main street (very cute). The decor is not that exciting but we were very pleasantly surprised with our entrees. Also, our waitress was very friendly and attentive. She mentioned that the owner's son is the chef and he was trained in France? Here is what we had: * An ale by Olivier winery - it was quite tasty and refreshing on the hot day * Rolls - maybe we were served some older ones; they may be good fresh out of the oven but otherwise a little tough * Black bean soup - decent but at least not salty * Poorman's jumbalaya - I think this was a special. My husband and I thought the flavors were great/authentic. We also joked that this is one of the few entrees where we thought "there is too much meat in here!" The andouille was very spicy in a good way. * Homemade bratwurst and sauerkraut - very yummy! Definitely have it with the house mustard (more of a grain mustard)! Next time, we will have to try the desserts :)

This was a lovely stop in our day. I am allergic to wheat and dairy. Our waitress, Michelle took this into account, and asked if I wanted my food cooked with new utensils, to prevent cross-contamination. She went out of her way to take good care of us. The pot roast was incredible. 5 stars all the way around. My husband said the Pot Roast sandwich was by far the best sandwich he has ever tasted.

It has been several years since I have been to Hobnob. I had the Hill Country Breakfast, for under $7, I got: (4) large pieces of bacon, (4) pieces of toast, (2) eggs over-easy, (1) gigantic biscuit with sausage gravy. It was pretty good and definitely filling. Since it is the off-season, I was able to park right out front.

Hobknob harbors a lot of locals that seem to know each other here in Nashville, IN. The service was the best part of our experience here. We had a long blonde haired sweetheart that was very sweet - and also apologetic when my brother simply didn't like his onion soup. The Hobknob makes their onion soup a bit differently, with yellow cheddar cheese, rather than white, and chicken stock, rather than beef. My mums, brother and I all ordered the special sandwich of the day: a battered cod fillet with red onion, lettuce and tartar sauce on the side. It wasn't the large beer battered cod we were hoping for - rather it was a flat, fillet that was most definitely frozen. It was not minced, thankfully and actually tasted great when eaten as the sandwich. The vegetables of the day : broccoli rabe, carrots and green beans went nicely with the sandwich, rather than the other choice of fries. For dessert, we all opted for the family recipe : Strawberry shortcake. This is a huge mound of nutmeg spiced sweet bread, fresh strawberries, strawberry cream and large fluffs of whipped cream. I bet the regulars make THIS a regular. It was good. I wouldn't eat here again, simply because it feel a bit short of what we were expecting, and I don't plan on being in any other Nashville aside of the one in Tennessee, anytime soon.

This is a popular lunch destination in Nashville, even in the off-season. It is located in one of the oldest buildings in the commercial center of town, and feels authentically broken in. The floors are ancient wood, held together here and there with small steel plates. (Unfortunately, the restaurant would not be a good choice for the disabled - the entrance involves a couple of steps, and the very uneven floor would present a challenge to navigation.) The traditional American menu is mostly sandwiches, salads, pastas, and a few entrees like meatloaf or steak. Although it doesn't really compare to the sandwich served at the (sadly, now closed) Gnaw Bone Gas and Food, the tenderloin sandwich at the Hobnob is certainly worth a try. The pork will be about twice the diameter of the bun. The French fries are thick cut. A codfish sandwich special was made from what was obviously frozen fish of dubiously symmetrical geometry. Our service was fine and the prices are reasonable.

We just ate there for lunch and it was great. They have a very creative cook and menu. They have the regulars, but specials dishes for whats in season. Great black bean soup and vegetarian dishes. Its not cheap, but considering the quality, reasonable. The have a kids menu which is nice. The inside is nice and very vintage and cool with worn wood floors and such. The have homemade breads and cookies. Its worth the try... its our second time there.

This is a friendly, homey restaurant with excellent service and delicious, fresh food. The servers are friendly and helpful and the food is fresh and tasty. Don't forget to ask about their soup of the day. Their chili is excellent but seriously, when they say hot, they mean HOT! The lunch menu is more casual and country; the dinner menu turns more upscale, but everything is well-prepared and well worth it.

The Hobnob Corner sits right off of 135. The building is about 110 years old. However if you ask any native where to eat they'll tell you 'Hobnob" It's no mystery why. It's got good food for Applebee's type prices! However, I wouldn't suggest hitting this place in the summer. Well atleast Mid july - Mid September. Airflow doesn't exactly happen here. But if you want, by all means go for it! I know i do.

Wonderful food and even better service. We really enjoyed our meal. Servings are huge so we had to bring home dessert.

Pot roast sandwich too big to eat but good, tenderloin not bad, floor is very uneven watch your step. Building very old. Reuben = salty, wet, but tasty.

This place was really cute and is a wonderful place to go for lunch. The menu was pretty basic, but the atmosphere and service made it stand out. The drink options are unique and they have delicious root beer.

The Hobb Nobb might be my favorite restaurant. I go out of my way to go to Nashville to eat there 3-5 times a year. The best thing on the menu has to be the tuna melt. I've been going to this restaurant every year for 20 years and I have gotten nothing but the tuna melt the past 3 years. They are known for their fresh-baked cookies and quiche as well. The steak fries are pretty good too. To top it all off, the servers are incredibly friendly. I know at least a couple have been there for over a decade and they love talking to all the customers. The one negative thing I can think of is that they don't serve beer. Otherwise, if you're looking for a place to dine in Nashville, Hobb Nobb Corner is your destination.

I read several good reviews so I decided to give it a try. Extremely disappointed. One designated waitress while several workers were just standing around. Finally got to order and wish I hadn't. The food was ok at best. I will not be back.

a below average eating venture. boring food, and poor service. 5 people standing around and my family had to wait more than 10 minutes to get any type of ackknowledgement after we were seated. food basic dining fair and there has to be something better in this quaint town. reuben, tuna melts, and tendorloin sandwiches were our selections, and we will not be back

Disappointing experience!!!! We went to Brown County for the day and had a great time. When we were hungry we just chose this place among the other for it's unique look and easy access location. The inside was very unique with lots of character so we were excited to order and have some great local food. WRONG! The food, and I mean everything we order was pathetic...a waste of time, money and calories. I guess they only way they get away with it is that many people are there for the first time. There was no effort to prepare any food with distinct flavor at all. I had the bean soup (out of a can at best), spinach salad (a hand full of leaves thrown on a plate with onion and croutons...about a hand full for $7.00). Anyway, I won't go on and on but I guess my point here is that we were very disappointed and actually shocked that the food quality (for myself, wife and kids) was so average at very best.

Went here for lunch on a very hot day in Nashville. My wife and I escaped the heat and found this corner restaurant. I figured with a name like Hobnob you couldn't really go wrong. This is a nice, simple restaurant which is good for lunch. I ordered a Rube Martin with fries. It was very good, and they gave me a ton of steak fries. The thousand island dressing was also very good. My wife had their Hobnob Onion Soup which was loaded with cheese. She loved it, and said that it was her favorite onion soup she has ever had. It did look loaded with cheese! We both got home made cherry cokes which were delicious on a hot day. The service was good, and the building was neat. It is over 110 years old. The price was a little high, but it is a tourist area, so not surprising. They also have local wines for great prices. I would recommend it.

If you're a seasoned traveller, the Hobnob will be very average to you. But given the circumstances and the "limited" breakfast options, Hobnob Corner isn't too bad. They have great hot chocolate, and the portions are generous and a real treat on a cold fall morning in Brown County. They seat fairly quickly, it's always nice and warm and cozy. I really enjoy the pancakes, the french toast, the hash browns. It's all pretty good. Stop here at least once during your visit to Brown County.

The food was decent, the place was reasonably busy. For a small town restaurant I was pleased to see that there were several vegetarian options. The prices seemed a little steep to me. I had an option to get the "small" or "large" sandwich. I got the large, which was basically two open faced sandwiches instead of one. A small would have sufficed. Sandwiches don't come with sides. I wish I could have graded this place 2.5 stars for the rude waitress. She took my order quickly but she disappeared and didn't bring my drink until she brought my food. I'd come in half an hour before closing, been sat and received my food quickly and ate in good time. I finished my meal right before 9 and was given a box and the check. The waitress checked in FOUR TIMES in the next few minutes and hustled me right out of the store. The last time she came over to "check up on" me I laughed and smiled and said, "I get it, I get it, you want me to get the heck out. Can I just finish my glass of wine?" She made a sour face, huffed and stormed off around the corner at full speed. I've worked food service, I understand that you don't want someone to linger for a half hour after you close. I don't think it's unreasonable though, to let someone stay two minutes after closing so that she can finish her glass of wine. I chugged the rest of my glass and passed several tables of happy, chatting people as I left the restaurant. I guess they weren't in her section!

This place has good food, seasonal menu and friendly staff. Most of food is made in house, breads, rolls, buns etc. Nice decor and feeling as if your back in the 1800's They have a big wine list as this area has alot of small, local wineries. Wife had Spinach salad. Nothing out of ordinary but alot of stuff w/freshly cut vegetables. I had breaded tenderloin, really good. If you are going to spend the weekend than stop here. Im a sucker for local stuff and that's what you will get.

My wife and I had lunch at Hobnob Corner. She had a tuna melt and I had a rueben sandwich. My wife's tuna melt was tasty. My rueben was good, the sauerkraut was especially tasty. We had a freshly baked chocolate chip cooked which was outstanding! We didn't have one but the strawberry shortcake looked insanely wonderful!

Great food, great people. Loved the pot roast sandwich, one of the best I have had in years. Great people, great food and reasonable prices. The menu is a good mix of Hoosier favorites and some creative dishes. The kitchen and staff did struggle with a large crowd but it was worth the wait. We will go back when we are next in Nashville.

Great rustic atmosphere and terrific food. The open face steak sandwich were good, the fries were fantastic, and the service was very friendly. Seems to be a pretty popular stop, so be prepared to wait awhile, but based on my experience it's very much worth it.

This place was recommended by locals, so I decide to give it a try, I ordered chicken mandarin, and the taste is a little bit sweet with almond and orange inside, so not impressive, my friend ordered limbs onions, he have the dish 0 point for too much onions and the meet taste a little bit weird too, chess cake is ok though

It was alright, but not all the rave the other reviews gave it. I had the open face turkey sandwich and my husband had the tenderloin. Both were good, but not great. The best part of our meal was the fries.

Upon walking in, my group of 5 had fairly high hopes. Very quaint, wooden floors, homey feeling kind of place. We were seated in the very back at a booth that was good for 4 smallish people, and so I took the end with a seat extended into the dining area. It's been over 2 months since we've been here now so my memory on everything that was ordered is hazy, but I'll just say that the lasting impression is not a good one. The summer squash soup was bland. Flavorless. Nothing special at all. Canned/boxed squash soups taste better, quite honestly. My open-faced veggie sandwich was underwhelming at best. I am not sure what prompted 1) the invention of this particular open-faced veggie sandwich, and 2) my decision to order it. A slice of wheat bread topped with tomato, avocado, and melted cheese, and a few rings of sliced red onions. I think I opted for sprouts too; that, or they came with the sandwich. I couldn't eat it all. Actually, I didn't *want* to eat it all. It just wasn't good. My other order was a salad. A true flop of a salad, too. Nothing spectacular nor remotely special at ALL about this salad. I asked what dressings they had and was told they had a really good house-made vinaigrette, so I asked for that. What i received was a little metal cup of mayo. I finally got the attention of our waitress (we had 3 of them for some reason, and yet could barely get the attention of one!), and told her it seemed they gave me the wrong dressing. I said, "This appears to be mayonnaise, not the house-made vinaigrette." She left, saying she'd be back with the right dressing, and when she returned, she confidently said, "That *is* the house-made dressing." I asked, "Well, it definitely tastes like mayonnaise; how do you make the vinaigrette?" I love this... she said, "We blend oil and eggs." I stumbled a minute due to the minor synapse in my brain, and then said, "That's....what...mayonnaise is..." I had to let it go. Nothing at this establishment was worth the trouble. Service was not good, considering we had 3 waitresses. One of them could only pour water and would not answer questions about the food. She was apparently not allowed to. I hate to say it, but this place has all the right ambiance and feel of a place you might find in Occidental, CA, or Berkeley, CA, but given the unreasonably high prices for the sub-par quality food, they cannot garner more than a 2-star review from me. The brewpub across the street, despite being a food establishment, did not let people under 21 in. (I don't know the relative laws in Indiana.) One in our group is still in highschool, so that place was a no-go, sadly, and it probably would have been the better place.

So quaint, so worth the wait! Like the rest of the town of Nashville, IN, Hobnob Corner is so cute and so quaint. I had wanted to dine here last year when I first visited Brown County. It had a long line out the door and we retreated to a pizza place down the street. This time around, I timed our arrival for after the lunch crowd at around 3pm. Whew...there was still 10ppl ahead of us. But we were all seated quickly. I was happy to order their Liver and Onions. You just don't see that on many menus. It was a much more vibrant plate of food than I had imagined. The liver and onion were grilled and then finished with red wine and vinegar. The vinegar really cut some of the richness with just a bit of tang. Instead of the usual heavy mashed potatoes, this plate came with freshly steamed, still crisp broccollini and carrots. Brocollini is such a nice change from broccoli! My glass of Snoqualmie Riesling seems to be a perfect match. Hubby ordered their Breaded Tenderloin sandwich. He declared it one of the best! Service was friendly and efficient despite the crowd. We will definitely be back.

I went here because of recommendations. I heard if you get there early enough you have to try their cookies! I had the coconut macaroon and it was delicious! For lunch I got the pot roast sandwich and my other half got the asparagus sandwich which was one of their specials. Both were delicious. The asparagus sandwich had feta cheese, mushrooms, red pepper, garlic mayonnaise, and vinaigrette I believe, on a ciabatta bun it was delicious but did have a lot of mayonnaise. The pot roast sandwich did not disappoint either and they are known for it! For dessert I got the breaded pudding which was also very good. Overall, I had a great experience and our waitress was very nice and we had fast service!

This is a reliable stop in Nashville. Many of the local restaurants are marked by inconsistency, but that has never been my experience at Hobnob. The food is prepared well, and the daily specials help ensure a nice variety of options.

What a pleasant meal-time delight! The chef loves his work and respects his customers with across the board fresh ingredients and extraordinary preparation and presentation. Sitting on the edge of Brown County State Park and its splendor made the experience all the more enjoyable.

After a night of camping at a rather primitive/rundown campsite, nothing felt more important than finding a solid breakfast place. We wandered in to the Hobnob, and were greeted by a friendly hostess, as well as a large glass case filled with fresh pastries and cookies - a good sign. Within a minute of being seated, our server appeared, water glasses and menus in hand. We browsed the simple menu; I went with the Lumberjack's Hash (eggs over a mixture of hashbrowns, onions, peppers, and smoked sausage). My friend chose the biscuits and gravy. The food arrived in no time, and we dug-in. The Hash was decent. I would've liked more of a crispy sear on the shredded hashbrowns, and the veggies were a bit oily. But the biscuits and gravy were incredible - some of the best I've ever tried. With two entrees and two coffees, the bill came to just under $20. Service remained excellent throughout the meal - water glasses and coffees were filled on a regular basis. Were I to return to Nashville in the future, I wouldn't hesitate to stop-in for another round of breakfast.

Outstanding New York Strip Steak. Outstanding Shrimp Dianne. Excellent Strawberry Shortcake. Service a bit slow, atmosphere laid back, decor so so, 15 minute wait on occasion to be seated - all made up by the food!

My family has frequented the Hob Nob for many years. It's our go-to for dining after a weekend in Brown County State Park or a day of antiquing in Nashville. The decor and ambiance is simple and classy. Best to order sandwiches or soups, as they always deliver great flavor that's not too heavy. Today's soup of the day, lentil with ham, was simply amazing. I enjoyed every taste!

Food = 5 (great food quality and variety of wine) Price = 4 Experience = 4 (honestly... this place is a little run down and very dated. The lights and fixtures are dirty and crappy... and not in a good way. BUT, the food and service were great. It's obvious they don't care about the interior or atmosphere... but, the food is top quality.)

I would like to reiterate, like I did in my Big Wood Brewery review - These places are not New American. They are American (Traditional). But okay, here's the deal - Super sweet service. Biscuit, gravy, toast, two eggs, sausage. For $9. Oh, god damn. I felt like I was stealing, so I just tipped really really well.

My wife and I had dinner here in August 2013. I had the pulled beef shank served over couscous. The flavor was good, but just wasn't much beef on the plate. I had to hunt to find it. We were excited to try the rolls since they have a bakery on site. However, the rolls were very dry and had no flavor. My wife had the heirloom tomatoes. It was a good salad but it was small. She also had the mushroom soup. It was very thick and stew like. She didn't care for the flavor. The next day we stopped in for two cookies, an oatmeal raisin and a chocolate chip. We didn't care for either one. Both were lacking in flavor. It's a shame...this restaurant could be very good with a few minor tweaks...and a bakery chef.

Fast service during lunch. Great sandwiches. Most of them are large sandwiches. My wife had the tuna melt which more than filled the plate. I had the chili. Yea, it's hot. For most people it would be too hot. However, I thought it was great and could have taken it much hotter. Great small town and old town feel in this old general store building.

Had a very solid lunch here. They do a solid job on the Reuben and homemade fries. The rest of the party loved their pot roast sandwiches. The portions were large enough that we couldn't try any desserts.

We love to eat here when we come to town. They have good sandwiches & some of their full meals are good too. It's an old drugstore and has a great atmophere. It's great to come in from a hot day to cool off w/one of their flavored cokes or milk shakes. In reverse, they serve some good hot soups w/homemade ww bread on a chilly day. -oh, & don't forget a cookie on the way out!

We are locals and we love this place! It's a restaurant in an old general store. They serve excellent food, have a wonderful, sophisticated wine selection, and provide speedy, friendly service. The pot roast is to die for, and so is the salmon and the vegetarian asparagus option. The curried chicken salad, the Reuben, and the tuna melt are other favorites. Wednesdays they give you 1/3 off bottles of wine.

Good home cooking in a quaint little atmosphere. I have had the pot roast sandwich which was great and my family had soup and other sandwiches which were good. Tends to be very busy at lunch time so be prepared to wait. Usually good service but tends to be very loud.

Everyone raved about Hobnob and it was okay. We had breakfast. The coffee was excellent and I enjoyed the hash brown omelet with veggies. Mom had a less than impressive omelet. The wheat bread was good - nice and grainy and it was baked on site. WARNING! The benches for the booths are the most uncomfortable things I have sat on in a long time. Opt for a table.

Usually, a Reuben is a Reuben is a Reuben. The Hob Nob's was somehow different, while still traditional. I had the homemade bratwurst, and it was great. And the sauerkraut was awesome too.

The Hob Nob is a family favorite. We honestly love this place! The old floors and simple quaint decor are perfect for year round dining. The Abe Martin is probably the best Reuben I've ever had, such lean meat and tasty kraut. Served with excellent home-fries. My husband got the pot roast sandwich and raved about it! Others in our party split a GIANT tuna melt. Soups and salads are delicious as well. Patronize this fav and enjoy!!

Wonderful "home style" comfort food in an old warm lived in building within the heart of charming and whimsical Nashville. This place has amazing holiday vibes ALL year round, I imagine soft snow falling out its wise timeless windows as pipping hot food and smiles are served inside. Stick with the Pot Roast Sandwich, French Onion Soup and Iced Tea. FYI their French Onion Soup makes my top ten list!

This restaurant was awful!!! We will never be back. My medium steak came out rare! It was disgusting. The staff didn't seem to care. It took 10 to 15 minutes for the server to even notice that my meal was sitting at the edge of the table untouched. The service was slow and unreliable. I have never felt like my patronage of a restaurant was so unappreciated. Not only was the entire meal awful and nothing was comped, they overcharged us. NEVER GO TO HOBNOB!!!

Went on a day trip to Nashville and a local store owner recommended this restaurant. I ordered a vegetarian sandwich and it was pretty tasty. The bread was a little soggy but overall it was yummy. The building is really cool and has a lot of character.

First time in. Ordered an opened face turkey sandwich. Pitiful! Looked like a a couple of slices of packaged turkey lunch meat. The WORST $8.00 sandwich ever! Like buying food at an airport! Avoid at all cost! The Unknown Diner thinks IT STINKS!

Dinner was excellent. While the high-end meals felt a little pricey they were well worth the price. Food was prepared well service was excellent. It's one of the few places in town that also offers plenty of wine should you be interested. We enjoyed an excellent dessert as well. Would go back for the braised rabbit anytime.

We just had an amazing appetizer, a picture says a lot, but you can only experience it by coming to this place.

My rating is based on hope rather than experience - my review based on NOT eating at HobKnob Corner. And therein lies a tale. We went to the HobKnob on a Saturday evening before a show at the Brown County Playhouse. The restaurant was packed, and there was a 15 minute wait - which was a surprise because when we'd called five minutes earlier, we were told there wasn't a wait. After 20 minutes we were seated - with an hour to go before the show. We went with the server's advice about what menu items would be most likely to be on the table soonest. But after 45 minutes, we had to agree with our server that the food would not be out in time to get us to the show. Our waitress was great, but I place some blame here on the management. I've worked as a waitress and know that a situation like this signals that the kitchen is understaffed, and trying to make do. In that case, management shouldn't seat new customers. And if you do seat new tables, comp them their drinks when they have to leave after spending more than an hour waiting for a meal they never were able to eat. Maybe the HobKnob is worth a try - but if there's a line, go to another restaurant.

Really? Number 3 in Nashville? Makes me a little concerned about anything rated below number 3. You're not going to beat its location. Smack dab in the center of town. Good, varied menu. I'd say the food was good but not great.

We usually go to Nashville 1-2 times a year and have never eaten here but usually at the restaurant right across the street from Hob Nob. Last time I saw how friendly The Nob looked from the outside and said we will eat there next time. Very disappointing. Here it is. Waitress with blond hair and pigtails she is to old for is incompetent. at 25 minutes waiting for french onion soup I asked where it is, I got it takes longer for french onion, This is a urban myth by restaurants that it is SSOO complicated to make it. NO it is not. It takes 2 minutes longer to throw some bread and cheese on the top of the bowl and broil it. The table next to us was seated, ordered, received their non french onion soup AND their meal and as we were just getting our soup. Before she walked away we confirmed 3 bowls, and she only had one. The first one came out 3 minutes later with the cook doing a "quick job" on the next 2 following 2 minutes after. So much for the laboring for hours over the soup we heard about. The soup was disappointing is an understatement. They used a slice, YES A SLICE of whole wheat bread with a blend of white and yellow cheese as the topping. This is not French Onion soup! There is a reason it is called FRENCH soup. The sausage I ordered was sliced in half and grilled and put in a hamburger bun and it had raw onions and green peppers on it. You serve raw green peppers on nothing, absolutely nothing. The others with me had about the same experience. Empty spinach salad, hamburger was ok. and another sausage disappointment. There was a lot of little other things that happened, but I will never be going back. If you like good service and good quality, non weird food, don't go there.

This is my go-to every time I come to Nashville. I always order the Rube Martin with fries and a Green River. If they have it, get the potato soup and the rolls they make are amazing! My favorites are the pumpkin (seasonal) and the rye. It's such a quaint place and it oozes history. Feels like you are in someone's dining room eating good, home cooked, comfort food. The waiting area is tight when busy, but well worth the wait... Even when the line starts coming out of the door down the stairs and along the sidewalk.

Also they do carry wine from the local Brown Co. vineyards.

Dinner was excellent. While the high-end meals felt a little pricey they were well worth the price. Food was prepared well service was excellent.

It's one of the few places in town that also offers plenty of wine should you be interested. We enjoyed an excellent dessert as well. Would go back for the braised rabbit anytime.

Usually, a Reuben is a Reuben is a Reuben. The Hob Nob's was somehow different, while still traditional. I had the homemade bratwurst, and it was great. And the sauerkraut was awesome too.

Food was OK, price was not in accord with quality. Wait time a bit too long and did I state that their prices for the food they served was a bit of of sorts.

During a two day span we had breakfast, lunch, and dinner at The Hobnob. We agreed that it was so good we were happy to eat multiple meals there. Food is always great. The atmosphere is relaxed, with friendly and helpful employees.

Always, good solid comfort food, with several options, some unique from typical fare, i.e. rabbit.

Good home cooking in a quaint little atmosphere. I have had the pot roast sandwich which was great and my family had soup and other sandwiches which were good. Tends to be very busy at lunch time so be prepared to wait. Usually good service but tends to be very loud.

We actually made two attempts to eat here. The first time was for lunch, and there was quite a crowd waiting. No one takes names or gives out numbers; they just tell you to wait in line. The problem is, there's nowhere for a line to form, and some parties have more people than others. One of the waitresses came and told us to keep the door shut behind us-- basically, asking us to be Door Police while waiting. They couldn't give us an estimate on the wait time, so we left, and returned instead at dinner. The wait time wasn't terrible-- 20 minutes for a party of six-- but the waitress wasn't great. Not terrible, but distracted and unsure of the menu items. There weren't many items ON the menu, and most of the specials were rather unique -- rabbit, for instance. I opted for an open faced turkey sandwich, which was a piece of toast topped with a single slice of turkey (lunch meat variety, not oven roasted), two strips of bacon, plus lettuce and tomato, and it was $7.50. Fries were not included. My husband ordered the pork chop, and was disappointed in the runny sauce, which had been described as a "glaze" on the menu. All the locals raved about this restaurant, but no one in our group felt they had gotten very good food, and only average service.
