Pizza is pizza, right? WRONG! Everyone can do pizza but few places actually take it a step further to stand out from the general masses. One day while visiting the quant shops of Nashville before heading back to Indy I was checking out reviews on Yelp to find a good place to eat. What's fun is I typically only read the negative reviews when a place is rated 4 stars or better just to get a full idea. Well I wasn't convinced this was the place to eat, BUT the reviews seemed good and I can always go for pizza. When we arrived we were seated quickly and due to the humidity we asked to sit inside. Its a very rustic feel in there with tables and chairs that appear to have been carved out back from a tree. Its neat...and different so though it isn't my style I liked it. THEN the only complaint that I have is how long we waited for someone to come to our table. They were not busy, a total of maybe 4 tables were being used and I saw more than enough staff walking around. But they all ignored us. Just as I was about to say lets go somewhere else someone finally came by and asked if we had been helped. When we responded with a huge no she left and got someone to take care of us. By this point we pretty much knew what we wanted to eat as we had so much time to look over the menu. I went with the BBQ pizza and I am pretty sure my other half had some loaded meat pizza of some sort. Anyway, after we ordered that I then wanted to add the cheese bread appetizer to the mix. I flagged down our server and asked if I could add that. She said yes, but that it would probably end up coming out all at once. I said that was fine. A short while later our food arrived. The cheese bread was to die for. It was just loaded with 5 different types of cheeses. I could totally eat a whole one all by myself if someone would let me. As for my BBQ pizza, that too was to die for. It was so full of flavor I was very surprised. These people understood what it took to make an excellent pizza. I was so happy that I wanted to cry when I was so full but didn't want to stop eating. All of the toppings worked with each other to create an orgy of flavor in my mouth. It was for sure pizza heaven. Once we had a server she did a great job, apologized for the longer than usual wait and really took care of us. She was upbeat and had a personality which was nice. She made up for the long wait we had at the very beginning. I definitely would recommend this place to anyone visiting Nashville, IN. The service is a little shaky but the food is worth it.

Awesome experience, the service was stellar and the waiter is knowledgeable and friendly. The food was surprisingly tasty. I would suggest the hot wings.

Spent a gorgeous day on patio. Not sure what was better the distinctive beer or delicious pizza. We were able to try the new Reuben Pizza ... no doubt, go for it.

Awful experience. Waited for an hour to get seated. Received wildly doughy breadsticks. Upon sending them back we waited 15 minutes more for another batch of dough sticks. Waitress said they've been having that problem like it's no big deal. After that we left. This is a total tourist trap and should have next to no repeat business. Avoid.

Beer=excellent. The Big Woods Brewery next door has put out some great brews. I've tried a few while I've been here. Ordered the Kimosabe pizza. Sausage and pepperoni. Good pie. Being from Chicago, I like a beefier crust. The crust was what I'm used to back home. The pepperoni wasn't too spicy, and the sausage wasn't gross. Friendly staff and great prices. Will be back here again.

Good food. Breadsticks were hot, pizza was very good. Had live music which was good too. Overall good place to go!

Very excellent pizzas, premium toppings, 5 sauces, this place is it. Oh yeah and they have great beer brewed on premises. They smoke their chicken wings and pork for pulled pork nachos. Top notch eats, great spacious facility, good location, amazingly friendly service. They also have giant jenga. We tried the chef's summer special pizza: it was topped with fresh seasonal ingredients: zucchini, corn, jalepeno, tomato and more! We also tried their pizza with garlic oil sauce - a win in our book!

The beer here is just ok. It is local, based on the brief explaination by the hostess when we asked. We like checking out small brew pubs and just came from many in Michigan. Of our four week tour of the midwest this was by far the biggest disappointment. I can not review the quality of the food since we got up and left due to poor service. My husband needed to use the restroom but told me which beer he wanted to order once the hostess sat us outside. While he was gone only one server came to the outdoor tables but she did not assist me while I waited. My husband came back after a few minutes and I went to the restroom to change our baby's diaper since we were still waiting to be noticed. The did have a baby changing station in the unisex bathroom so I added one star to the review. When I came back to the table my husband had his beer and stated he also orded waters but they had not arrived yet. We waited another few minutes for the water and discussing what to get on our pizza. The server came out for another table that was sat after us but he did not approach us. He came back a few minutes later with two waters and asked to take our order. No suggestions, no apology. We asked for the bill and left. This was around 1:30pm on a Wed afternoon. Two servers were working the outside tables, one male and one female. Only four tables had guests during the 15 munutes we were there. Shocking.

After stopping by for lunch here on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, I was relieved that our wait was only a half hour. Due to the amount of people waiting outside in the sun for a table, it looked worse. I quickly found out why everyone was willing to wait. We started off with the cheesy bread as an appetizer. It was basically a small pizza, topped with plenty of gooey, melted cheeses and it was delicious. The two of us shared a 10 inch Big Woods Pulled Pork pizza and...oh..my..gosh..it was one of the best pizzas I have ever had. It was topped with plenty of cheese and was full of pulled pork, bbq sauce, and, pineapple. There were two sizes available but the 10 inch was plenty for us, along with the appetizer and beer. And the beer.. I had the Busted Knuckle (sooo good) and my other half had a four beer flight. The actual Big Woods Brewery is around the corner. Hostesses were super friendly. Our server was a little gruff at first, probably due to being so busy but she became more friendly as time passed. Service was spot on with no issues. Oh, how I love the little town of Nashville. I could've stayed there all day.

This is the best pizza I think I've had outside greater nyc. The pizza is not burned it had a nice chew to it tasted almost honey wheat like. Had the artichoke one would definately go back.

Took the family to Brown County for a getaway weekend. We decided to eat in and get carryout pizza from Big Woods. Wow did we make a good choice! The pizza had a great, slightly chewy crust with plenty of cheese, although I felt they were a little light on the topping for a pepperoni-only pizza. Taste wise it can't be beat. One issue with carry-out - and this is a reflection on Nashville, not the store, is that there is no place to park and run in to get your carryout. I noticed that there is a side door in the alley that some people were pulling into and parking while they picked up their pizza. In my case, I made my daughter drive around the block until I got the pizza and jumped into the car. If you want a really good pizza in Little Nashville, this is the place.

Our party of four went in on a Saturday evening and were seated immediately. Larger groups had to wait about an hour. The kids that were at tables and waiting for their pizza were given a pizza dough ball to play with/ eat. I thought that was creative and fun! The pizza was good here, but let's be honest, the beer is the main event. The beer flights are affordable (I think it was $5.50 for 4, 5 oz pours). You are able to get as many samples as you want. We all tried a variety of beers and liked every single one. Our favorites were the Hoosier Red, Java Mocha Stout, and something with Yellow in the name. Along the liquor lines, they have an impressive bourbon selection and my friend said his Old Fashion was excellent.

Stopped in over the weekend while on a visit to Nashville. We ordered a meat pizza and a flight of beer (well, I ordered a diet) I can't speak for the beer because I'm not a fan. The pizza was okay. It was hot. The cheese doesn't taste like real mozzarella. I could be wrong...but it has an artificial taste to it. The pizza isn't bad though. The staff are super friendly and prompt. This is one of the better restaurants in Nashville IMO. We would go back.

I'm a die-hard fan of Big Woods Brewing Company and Quaff-ON! so this review is a no-brainer. I love everything about the people that run this place because they're so relaxed, yet so passionate about what they do. Nashville in itself is a step away from the hustle and bustle of Indy but when you go into Big Woods Pizza its even better. I love the food, the atmosphere and the staff. They let you sample beers before purchasing and explain to you the differences between the beers...they also are able to provide suggestions to the newbies who are a little beer-shy. It can get packed and loud in there - but even with all of that, it doesn't really bother me. There is enough room (just barely enough) that people aren't kicking your chairs/bumping you as they walk by)

Best pizza and pulled pork nachos! This place is a family FAV for sure! We travel an hour south with no hesitations that we will be pleased and full of good food.

Pizza was good and hot. Plenty of toppings and the food was fresh. The Staff was friendly and we received our meal fast. I would recommend this place to anyone.

We ordered the Big Woods pulled pork pizza, and we were not disappointed. The BBQ sauce was sweet with a little tang. The pork was tender and flavorful. And the pizza crust was light and perfectly chewy. Our beers were great, too. He had the Happy Trigger rye IPA while I had the Stonehead Stout. Nashville, IN, is not much to speak of, but I'd come back for pizza and beer here. It's at least a change from pizza and beer in Bloomington, IN.

I am a native hoosier, but oddly enough, I discovered this gem while visiting from Kansas City. I wouldn't say it convinced me to move back to Indiana, but it certainly didn't hurt. I now work out of Bloomington, and I try to make it to their restaurant in town as often as I can, as well as patronizing the Nashville location. I would start by saying that Big Woods Brewing really gets the spirit of Brown County. From their logo, to the ambience of their dining spaces, to the flavor profiles of their beer, they perfectly embody the "Spirit of the Woods." For food, I would say they have very strong offerings, though I have found the quality is variable. That said, I have yet to leave a meal unsatisfied. I would recommend trying the pulled pork nachos and any of their pizzas. For beer, all I can say is Wow! I am not a hop nut, nor is my girlfriend, and we absolutely love their catalogue of beers. My favorites are the Hoosier Red and the Busted Knuckle, though I also enjoy the 6-foot Blonde and Yellow Dwarf. I have experienced some variability in the flavor profiles of their beer. I would advise the master brewers to work on stricter recipe enforcement and also not to fix what isn't broken! Bloomington already has a multitude of hoppy offerings, but Quaff On caters to an entirely different palette. If you are interested in increasing your IBU, then do it in new lines, but don't alter your existing lines--they're great! Can't recommend this place highly enough--it really is worth a trip. Anything less than 5 stars would not do these guys and their tremendous effort justice! Quaff On!

That was one good pizza for sure. Sat outside on a Wednesday in August. No wait. Also had the pulled pork nachos and loved the combination of spice. Would return. Did not try the beer.

If you visiting Nashville, IN Big Woods is a must! The pizza was very good, the beer flights were spot-on, and the service was very good. There is under 21 seating as well as bar seating. On weekends there is live music. Food: 4/5 - The nachos were very good, the side salad portions were huge!, the thin crust pizza was perfectly crispy Service: 3/5 Location: 4/5 - Very clean and right on the main strip in town

Wife and I found this place while in Nashville the weekend of a trail run in the park. We had such a good experience we came again the next night. Their beer is GREAT. The appetizers are superb (especially the nachos), and the pizza is on Point. We have been every time we have gone to Nashville. Great spot!

We went here twice over our weekend. The first time was a Saturday, we were starving, and since it was cold out and couldn't sit outside we had to wait a bit for a party of 5. WORTH THE WAIT. The waitress was awesome, very quick service, delicious pizza, and the beer was excellent. We ordered the garden pizza and our kids each got a 10" (one being gluten free). Usually at other places the GF pizza comes out later, nope! We all got to eat together. I had the stout and my husband tried both pumpkin beers. All good! We also had the pulled pork nachos. Yum, but not needed as the pizza and beer were filling enough. :) The second time we went was on a Monday afternoon. Not busy, seated right away, another great waitress, delicious pizza and beer. She made a mistake on my son's GF pizza and accidentally added onions. She said he could pick them off and go ahead and eat this and had put an order in for another one. (My son said he likes onions and it was okay, but she said she already has it in the works and he could box it up and take it home.) Definitely recommend for a great meal! Kid friendly too. (ours are 10 & 13, but we saw lots of high chairs and families there) Enjoy!!!

The pizza is actually very good. The hand tossed crust is chewy and airy with big pockets on the inside and crusty and grease-less on the outside. Plenty of cheese is piled on top. I'm not a pizza fan (gasp!), but I found myself eating from hubby's pizza and ignoring my order of spaghetti. My spaghetti, where do I start? Let's just say I should order the restaurant's specialty and not the thing they put on the kiddie menu to appease those sensitive little taste buds. The sauce was tasteless. The sausage was crumbled and then pulverized to a pile of unrecognizable dry white pulp. Yes, it, too was tasteless. And the "fresh basil" that was promised on the menu? I found a tiny sprig of parsley on top of the pile. And the part that I find the most disappointing? For $3.95, I only got one 12oz glass of the homemade root beer. NO refills!! Oh, I just realized how much I miss BJ's endless big frozen mugs of root beer!

The family friendly sister-site to Big Woods Brewing. The bar location is strictly over 21 even outside on the patio, so when kids are along use this location for most of the same food and beer. The pizzas are awesome and this is not the place to get a basic sausage and pepperoni - try one of their signature pies and you will not be disappointed. My favorite is the Pulled Pork Pizza, which is like the typical Hawaiian with pulled pork instead of ham. Great crust, barbecue sauce, pulled pork, pineapple, and red onion. It's absolutely wonderful and if you like this you've got to try the pulled pork nachos! I have also enjoyed the Emily's Garden Pizza with an olive oil base, spinach, black olives, diced squash, tomatoes, onions, and feta. An excellent vegetarian pizza. Big Woods beers are available and I think their stouts are among the best I've had anywhere - their regular stout, called Tim's Stout, and java stout are excellent. I had a summer wheat beer today that was light and refreshing. They have several IPAs with varying amounts of hops and alcohol - surely you can find one you like. I come to Nashville when it's not so busy and park on Jefferson St. If you come at a peak time, pray for parking and practice your patience.

First, let me say, the place was PACKED. We waited for 40 minutes on a Saturday with the weather perfect for Brown County tourists galore. I was hoping this was worth the wait as the wait was longer at the brewery across the street. The wait was worth it. The hostess called our name and set us at a table for 4. The atmosphere was loud but not deafening, and the restaurant was clean and very nice looking on the inside. Our server was pleasant and very knowledgeable about the beer. We ordered the Big Woods Pull Pork Nachos and everyone at the table LOVED them. I knew it would be a winner. They were gone in under 5 minutes. My uncle and I split the BBQ Pizza. Topped with smoked pork, red onion, pineapple, and cheese. Was cooked to perfection. Crispy flaky crust and oh so flavorfull. We paired it with the Yellow Dwarf Wheat and 6 foot Blonde. Both really good beers. My spouse and our aunt got the Margherita pizza and raved about it. They said it was tasty and would order it again. They commented that the basil was very fresh and really made the pizza stand out. They paired it with the Yellow Dwarf Wheat. Service was a bit slow due to the amount of patrons but we had the pizzas served to us within 30 minutes, and the pork nachos within 15. I recommend going on a weekday as Saturday you will be waiting. The pizza is worth the wait and so is the beer. Great atmosphere for kids, grandparents, and everyone in between!

My husband and I spent a weekend in Nashville, IN. We ate here on Friday night and enjoyed a flight of beer, the nachos appetizer and some calzones. The next night, we ended up eating here again because most of the other restaurants in town were closed for winter. We had the nachos and beer again along with a pizza. All of it was delicious! We also found the staff to be very friendly.

Great pizza. We had a buffalo chicken pizza. Dough is fresh made and some of the best pizza crust Iv2 had in Indiana. I also had the Hoosier Red ale. Pretty good. Music was too loud and hard to carry on a conversation. Free wireless. The owner announced a "beer class" that included a free tour anf free beer tasting. Nice place and food overall. Had the music not been so loud I would have given 5 stars

We would really like to have a great meal here but it always misses the mark. Pizza Kemosabe was OK except the toppings were missed about two inches of crust all the way around. Waitress declared that is how they make it here, she had an attitude! No, they didn't make it that way last time. The music was obnoxiously loud. Irritatingly loud. I was fed, but not thrilled.

This place is awesome! It's unfortunate that it's so far away (I live in Bloomington) and parking probably blows for a lot of their customers! I went there a little over a month ago. Our server was amazing, she had short dark hair & answered all of our questions. I am a manager at a local restaurant in Bloomington & WISH this girl would work for me! The atmosphere was great, they brew their own beer (if i'm not mistaken?) I knew what the ABV meant on the beer descriptions but not the other acronym and she explained it perfectly, without hesitation. Service: Perfect, friendly, well acquainted with the surrounding area and events coming up. She told us about specials, their bar in an adjacent building, etc. The other servers seemed to get a long well and worked as a team (BIG plus in my book, I hate to be at a place when you can feel the tension between employees!) Food: Okay, this is no joke when I say this was the BEST pizza I've ever had. Mother Bears in Bloomington doesn't hold a candle to this stuff. The cheese was perfect, We had "The Big Woods" and the roasted garlic was perfect-not too much garlic breathe but just enough of a kick to realize the ingredient. Website: I usually don't check out websites for restaurants because they usually suck. BUT the website is helpful, well organized. Cons: Maybe give some descriptions about the beer on the website, you could take a picture of the wall in the restaurant. Oh & add some more pictures to the site, people want to see what they're gonna be eating. Indiana is a place of visual eaters/face stuffers. After writing this review I really need to get my ass in gear & head over to Nashville to get some Big Woods...I guess 15-ish miles isn't too bad.

I love the original Big Woods Brewery just down the alley so we were excited to try out the pizza location. We will for sure be back but we could have had a better experience (see 'Room For Improvement' below) - but I think they will continue to grow and get better. I did notice that they debuted 2 new pasta items to their menu so it looks like they are in fact in the continuing to grow phase. Location/Parking: Like all of Nashville, this is set up to park elsewhere and to walk to (just like all the shops). For parking details you can visit the Nashville tourism site to see all of the free places to park. Or, for $4 you can park at the Historical Society lot just 1 block north - money supports the not-for-profit museum. Set-up: They are handicap accessible and although they do have a fair amount of seating, I would not recommend them for a super large group as there is no guarantee that you could all be sat together. That being said they have at least 3 six-tops to start with. They are a child-friendly environment but only for kids that can remain in their seats (some of the walk-ways can get a bit busy) - also better (given the open room) for non-criers. Room For Improvement: 1) Dough - not proofed long enough 2) Cook Time - ours was undercooked and gummy (note, the 'sequoia' size pizzas around us were golden and looked great, but our 'signature' size pie was way undercooked) 3) Water - ew, guys, get a filter and also, rinse out your cups better, you basically served me bleach-water - not ok 4) Take-Out - they have the set-up by the cash register to have a couple of pies ready for a 'by the slice' set-up - I think that would be a great idea for those who want either a smaller portion or who are on the go walking around Nashville What They Do Right: 1) Toppings - good selection and they break out of just having the traditional toppings 2) Beer - naturally, they you have access to the brewery beer here too 3) Space - what a great way to get others to enjoy Big Woods Beer, the original location (just down the alley) I am totally in love with but seating is limited - this is a great way to expand plus it is family friendly 4) Salad Dressings - they have a few dressing that I believe they make themselves, we had the ranch and the creamy balsamic...both were super tasty.

This spot is right in the middle of town and we got there at 5:45, and it seems any later would've left us with a wait. Started off with pulled pork nachos that included corn, black beans, red onions, and other testy bits that I can't recall at the moment. Also grabbed a seven sampler flight of pretty solid craft brews, I would suggest their flagship Busted Knuckle or the Hare Trigger. Added ambiance were an acoustic cover duo playing Neil Young, John Prine, and Grateful Dead. Good times.

Pizza was nothing special. We live in chicago, so we have lots of superior options. Nachos were actually really good. Bbq pulled pork and bbq sauce. Service was very sub par. Our waitress never brought silverware, so it was messy. Had to almost beg for help. On the plus side, several interesting and good beers. Fun atmosphere.

Sure, Nashville is a tourist-driven town with an extremely high tchotchke to person ratio, so the restaurants will pretty much all fall in line with the rural Midwestern charm theme prevalent throughout the town, country dumplings and beef stew and whatnot. That's not really our bag, but we figured we could wince through some mediocre pizza and get on with our day. We found Big Woods Pizza much better than that. Our choice: Emily's Garden pizza, with fresh enough veggies spread across it. The crust was above average, soft and crusty without being chewy or dry. The pizza itself had more veggies than it could hold and wasn't too greasy. The accompanying salads were excellent -- a variety of greens and vegetables. Many restaurants, especially pizza and beer joints, are satisfied enough to rip open a plastic bag o' salad, dump it in a bowl, and let customers play around with it until the main event. Our salads, though, were quality ingredients, better than we've gotten at restaurants that claim to be classier. As a result, we left impressed with the thoughtfulness and choices that went into our food, and we would definitely recommend Big Woods to other Nashville visitors and pizza lovers alike.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
