This is a strange establishment, in a good way. It's pretty far off the beaten path and a little tough to find unless you know where it is, but they have the best selection of draft beer in town, including some fine craft brews in a rotating selection. The fish is really quite good, and the drinks are excellent. There is good reason the parking lot loads up with motorcycles all summer long.

Went here for dinner on a Sunday evening. Make sure to a) get good directions or b) have a GPS that works well. Hard to find, but the food is worth it. Not being in a mood for fish, I opted for the New York steak. Two sides come with the dinner, and I chose the cole slaw and cottage cheese, both of which were nIce ad cold and fresh. Our server was very pleasant and efficient, but after I was done eating I overheard one of her coworkers explaining that day's specials menu to another table. Is there a reason it wasn't offered to us? My steak was prepared just as ordered, but the grilled onions were a hair underdone. As a person with mobility issues, however, the owners of this place need to be drawn and quartered regarding the accessibility of the ladies room. One makes a hairpin turn to get behind a screen and then is met with a 3-4" step up into the bathroom proper. If the light's not on, you're dead meat in there because it's blacker than pitch and the switch is not only 6-7 inches from the door, but at an unusual height. If you go here, pay it forward and leave the light on for the next person.

This hidden gem is an amazing establishment! Great beer, friendly atmosphere, awesome wait staff, tasty grub, and a stellar bar tender. Steve is the epitome of a bartender, gracious host, and righteous dude.

It's taken us five years to find this place. Strangely, it's never come up with the real estate agent, other members at the country club or locals. Maybe because we live in town, the other end of Lake Freeman and mostly know people on Lake Shafer. The place was closer to Yeoman than Monticello, impossible to find without gps and not surrounded by anything else. The building looks like a manufactured home built upon numerous times. There is no way the air conditioning duct work are code compliant. You can stand up and touch them. The main dining room was freezer cold, it was painful. We asked to sit on the three season porch, but after 8:00 pm, they do not seat "outside". The hamburger was OK, the fries lacking, and the fried catfish the best I've ever had. If I liked fish more, I would come back, but the ambiance ruined the meal for us. We couldn't move to a more quiet dining room away from the large parties, we couldn't get warm enough to be comfortable, and our server ignored us for the larger parties. I usually get dessert with every meal, but we couldn't wait to get out of there, if only to feel our hands again.

Food is decent. I generally opt for catfish or tenderloin. Sweet potato fries are stellar. Beer selection is solid for monticello. Not to mention the beat bartender around! It's definitely out in the sticks, and it has ZERO phone reception. However id highly recommend. Bring some $$ for the jukebox, for hours of entertainment.

Rustic is the best word to describe this place. It is way off the beaten path. The decor is roadhouse dive. Fish and steaks are the only things on the menu, prepared with no frills. The food is good. There is a good selection of beers. The prices are reasonable. You have to want to go here, to go here. The service is friendly and fast. Not much to brag about, but nothing to complain about.

Wife and I needed a night out after being cooped up from the cold and snow. First stop was to check in on the ole Oakdale Inn. We always see the sign but have never taken the time to stop. Split into bar, family (separate entrance), and outside patio. Patio would be great in the right weather. Lots of regulars. All were super nice. Bartender was friendly. Beer selection was pretty solid including Three Floyd's Alpha King and a Breckenridge Imperial Stout. I can't wait to go back. A quality down-home bar.
