Family owned Italian restaurant. Good food and friendly servers. Ordered a glass of their house cabernet with their version of bang bang shrimp. Very good. Ordered the eggplant parmesan which was also tasty ... sauce was tangy. Pasta could have been more al denté...it was a bit mushy which oftentimes happens when its made in volume. This would be the only improvement I could say, but it won't keep me from returning. The decor is modern Italian.. nice touch. Wish it were NON-SMOKING. Hate that it isn't. That would be the main reason I wouldn't return because I don't like my clothing and in this case, my winter coat smelling like smoke.

We celebrated my moms 85th birthday here. The staff was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. We started with Brie and it was delicious. The Italian dishes were superb and the tiramisu with chocolate drizzle was the perfect ending. They play 70/80s music which was a trip down memory lane for me! Highly recommend this restaurant.

Look online for Olivia's restaurant found a website with their menu want to get their pizza for five toppings is $28 is a thin crust and nasty nasty nasty. The menu prices that I saw was 1975 for a Four topping pizza when I get there it ends up being $28.45 topping pizza. Get home and hubby grabs a piece of the box I take it inside to go get plates And napkins, take a bite out of one piece of pizza and I spit it out. The sauce tasted like water Down tomato paste. Very bitter very nasty immediately took the pizza back. So the guy sitting at the bar which I'm going to assume was the owner says to me, I take it you won't be back. I said no I don't think so. He said good glad to hear it. And the place came highly recommended which I will not recommend this place to anybody and any website and I find with Olivia's information on it they will be receiving a very bad review for me

This is a little hidden place just north of the train tracks in downtown-ish Mishawaka. It feels more like a bar than restaurant. It is comfortable either way. The service is also fast and pleasant. I ordered a mushroom and sausage pizza... It tasted good, distinct, and above average for all the pizza places I've had in the area... However, they do use canned mushrooms (I don't approve of such a thing) and the sausage had some hard grizzle stuff in there (It annoyed me but I'm not picky about that). It was just different pizza in a different kind of place.

We are big supporters of the local, Mishawaka restaurants and businesses so when we heard Oliva's had just opened last week, we had to give it a try. They have done a great job renovating the building and they have a bonus of being located on a dead end street so it is nice and quiet right around the restaurant. The outside is very attractive and despite a big crowd, we didn't have any problems finding a parking place. However, to our dismay, we were met with the information that Oliva's is a smoking establishment and over 21 only. We are totally down with no kids allowed but since we aren't smokers, we usually steer clear of all restaurants and bars that allow smoking. We decided to give it a try anyway. In their defense, they have done the absolute best job to control the smoke they could. There is a big sucker on the ceiling that draws all of the smoke straight up but it isn't enough to save this place for non-smokers like us. While we loved this place, we won't be back. So, let's get down to what we loved. The place was utterly PACKED yet everyone working there was good natured about the chaos and everyone waiting seemed to be having a good time. We lucked out and got the last two seats at the bar while we waited for our table and enjoyed the house Chianti. While we waited, we noticed it was definitely an older crowd - the majority of the people there were probably in their 50s. We were finally seated at a small, 2 seat table in the bar area - bring your patience with you for a crowd because everyone waiting for a table was crowded around us. The bar is very nice, beautiful wood and very well stocked but narrow and not much standing room around it. We ordered two of the speciality dinners - I got the spaghetti with marinara, which 5% of the proceeds from this meal are donated by the owners to breast cancer research while my husband got the red pepper chicken pasta. Each meal comes with a tasty Italian broth soup, a generous Italian salad with wonderful cheese and salami strips and warm rolls. The salad is brought out in a big deep bowl with tongs for you to dish onto your own plates to your heart's content. We both loved our dishes and have plenty of leftovers - our incredibly nice waitress even boxed up the leftover salad, which could be a meal in itself. So, we would definitely recommend Oliva's for those that don't mind the smoke but for the rest of us, I would stick with carry out.

3 stars because it is very comfortable, clean, beautiful. It has a really nice bar, and an excellent, friendly staff. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think the food is very good. Too salty. Didn't try the pizza or anything with marinara, so maybe there is still potential for redemption. But if the sauce on the scallopini or the bowtie chicken is any indication, there is little hope. Both sauces tasted like they came out of a Campbell's can. The salad was your standard lettuce, salami, mozzarella, olive thing, and it was tossed with very ordinary Kraft-tasting italian dressing. And canned mushrooms, for real.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
