Sometimes reviews need to be updated. Things change in four years. It's true; J's seems to be a bit cleaner and friendlier than in years past. Perhaps it's under new ownership? I don't have the inside scoop on every local business like some Yelpers do. Anyway, I have to give a major shout-out to the hot wings... well, drumsticks to be more accurate. They were so crunchy on the outside and the grease was minimal. I was happy I branched out for once in 25 years. The JoJo's are still JoJoriffic.

J's is an institution Liberty. Every town should be so lucky to have a place like this. J Boy! Jo Jo fries, pizza burgers, slushies, any kind of ice cream you dream up, if you're headed home from Brookville Lake, J's is the place to stop.

The owner has reached out to me to apologize and find out the details of what happened so he can make it right. He stated he was going to use this as an "educational opportunity" and I hope he does because boy, do they need it! I will continue to get my "J's fix" whenever I'm in town! BTW, if you go you MUST get their Vanilla Diet- very tasty!

Not a bad place to stop by and get something sweet. The food didn't agree with me. I ordered fries and at the bottom of the fries I discovered half a chicken strip. This was the realization that they have shared oil in their fryers. Don't get me wrong the fries were delicious. But due to the oil being cooked with meat and non-meat products lead to the bubble guts. The people behind the counter were pleasant. But being heavily tattooed the locals couldn't stop staring.

I first learned about J's Dairy Inn when I met the Bias family (they owned the place), while working at Elder-Beerman more than 30 years ago. When I spent time with them, we might end up there for a meal instead of eating at their house or going somewhere else in Liberty. (Is there anywhere else?) The place has changed, as the building is much newer now and there is much more parking available. Given all that, the place was crowded after several middle school cross country teams vacated Whitewater State Park and headed to J's. After some of the negative reviews, I expected a filthy hell hole. I didn't find that. I saw some outdoor seating to the east, and a large dining room. The old building had probably 10 tables, so having three times that many seems a bonus. The counter area was sufficient but the line backs up to the trash cans and area containing napkins and condiments, so you practically have to dance around people to do anything. As I was trying to determine my order, a young man with a towel and a spray bottle was running around the dining room cleaning tables and removing trash. The ordering process took quite a while but once at the counter, the person taking my order was pleasant and efficient, repeating my order as she entered it, and again just before taking the money. Noting that J's has always cooked each order separately, I was still a bit surprised about the wait for food. Then, someone took a bucket of chicken, and I saw several other larger orders being received by customers. I was shocked that my order came up earlier than an order taken ahead of mine, especially when the Fish Tail sandwich I had usually takes longer than other items. The food was good. The Fish Tail sandwich was cooked well and the JoJo potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The Richmond store never did those correctly--they were always mushy and limp. Sorry, I didn't find a hell hole, although no one behind the counter looked incredibly happy during the rush of customers, I didn't even find anyone unpleasant. Success can be a pain, can't it?

Do not eat here. Do not be deceived by cars in the parking lot. Service takes forever when there are any customers in the store. The hamburgers are leathery. The French fries are limp. The coke is watered down. This place makes McDonalds look like a gift to humanity.

I went about 6:30 on a Friday. I waited over 45 minutes for 2 hot dogs, jo-jo's potatoes, hush puppies and 2 chocolate shakes. If I hadn't gone back to check I would have still been waiting. Customer service was rude when I asked how much longer. There's no order in which they fill orders. So if you go when it's busy be prepared to wait and wait.

J's is one of those places that has some fantastic items on the menu, and some that are just mediocre. I was dismayed to find their breaded tenderloin to be just so-so....it wasn't the worst one I've ever had, and it beat a frozen pork fritter...but just barely. However, the Jo-Jo's ARE fantastic, and I have fallen deeply in love with the breaded mushroom chips. Their pork BBQ sandwich is TOPS in my book. Service? I actually found them to be quite pleasant. I had no idea what Jo-Jo's were, and they patiently explained how they were made. I chose them as my side, and I wasn't sorry. This was our 2nd trip here, first time was for Ice Cream only, we decided to have lunch this time. It was good enough that we'll be back!

I love J's. Well, the food. Hamburgers on wheat, rye, onion, or white buns with a selection of several cheeses. The mushroom chips are addictive. J's serves good ole American grilled-fried comfort food. What isn't comfortable are the dirty tables, filthy floors and surly servers. Actually, they don't serve. They shove. Upon entering J's you'll find the order counter. Behind the counter are 15 teenagers and one bitter adult who has spent the last 3 decades in food service. None of them clean off the tables or sweep the floor. They....ummmm....I'm not sure what they do but appear busy. You place your order to a "server" who can barely converse. Tap, tap, tap (on the computer screen) tap, tap, tap....tap, tap... and they shove you your receipt with an order number. When it is called, they shove the tray at you from the same counter. That's it - that's the service. The condiment bar consists of paper cups with a ketchup dispenser which is 4/5's empty. It doesn't dispense ketchup, it burps it. Don't even try to guess the last time it has been cleaned. The salt and pepper shakers are so greasy you need a catcher's mitt to hold on to them. Again, 15 worker bees, no cleaning bees. Prices are excellent. Food is hot and enjoyable. Just be prepared to wipe the table, seats, trays, etc. off with napkins. They have plenty of those.

J's is definitely a local establishment. If you're in the mood for good fried food and confections you've come to the right place. I love their coolies here which is a combination of slush and ice cream and your choice of flavoring. Also I love to get their chicken tenders slathered in their hot sauce made with Franks. Delicious! The JoJo's are the main unique thing here which is basically a huge potato wedge but not with too much breading. They are great especially when fresh. Like mentioned in most of the reviews the service here is something to be desired. But! once you look past that this place is really a hidden gem in this community.

Haven't been here in 20 years. Doesn't seem like it has changed much. Used to eat here a lot on the way to the lake. Had a shake, tenderloin sandwich and onion rings. It was ok and much like I remember. Good place to stop if you are passing through.
