This nice French restaurant is truly a hidden gem of Lebanon. Most of the customers come from Indy or Lafayette. The building is vintage with a nice looking, well done interior. The menu has a pretty wide selection of items. I had the dinner feature of Flounder stuffed with lobster, crab, and shrimp with a white wine cream sauce. It was truly delicious. It is run by a husband and wife with a very small staff. They actually have a french waiter. I'd recommend a reservation unless you go very early. I suspect they only have a limited seating based not on space, but on staff. Overall, it is well worth the trip from Indy or the Lafayette area. Now that I know of it, I'll definitely be making more trips there.

We've been to Bijou at least 5-6 times over the past 10 years. The menu is limited and doesn't change, so it's easy to get a "been there" feeling after you've visited a few times. The food preparation is mostly good, and some of it is very good. Not much is great though, and occasionally something is below expectations. The service is professional, but at a recent visit there was not enough staff to adequately handle the small crowd. As a result, dinner for 6 took about 3 hours, which is way too long for a three-course meal in Indiana. The owner who runs the front of the house is nice, but it was disappointing that he didn't do much to help the single waiter when things got behind. Three of the meals during our most recent visit were excellent, two were very good, and one was fair. I had the stuffed flounder "special" and found it to be slightly overcooked and dry. The strip steak, lamb chops, and duck were excellent though, and the Tuna and the other fish dish were apparently very good. All of the appetizers were excellent, but the soups and salads were about average. I have my doubts about whether the Cesar salad dressing is really house-made. If it is house-made it appears to have been made well before service, and not made fresh as it should be. Overall, I still like the place, but it doesn't seem like the owners (who are the chef and the guy who runs the front of the house) are putting in the effort to make it top-drawer. I imagine that it must be hard to put in the necessary effort year-after-year if you're only going to have 20-30 guests on a good night, but that's the only way to have a first-class restaurant. They've lasted 10+ years though, which is not easy to do in this market. Wine is priced like they want to people to drink it, which is refreshing in Indiana. And there are several interesting wine choices on the list too. Overall, a nice place for a quiet, relaxed dinner, with the potential to be well above average if you're there on the right night. Cheers, T.

The Bijou is French cuisine. It is pricey but very good. Not an every day place to eat but a nice place for special occasions. The owner is a very nice man and the decor is formal. I have been there twice and received great food and service both times. Be prepared to drop $45 to $50 per person by the time you are finished.

Bijou is a shining beacon in the city of Lebanon, IN. The Lobster Feuilleté is absolutely fantastic! It's a must for any time you come in. Be warned- and this is not a bad thing- his is a french style restaurant. This means there's no hustle and bustle -- get you in and get you out. This is sit down relax experience.

WOW! Take a second and look up the translation of Bijou, and that will tell you all you need to know! Food, service and even the nice drive to Lebanon from Avon, IN made for a great evening. Received a recommendation from a trusted fellow foodie, and had to give Bijou a try. It didn't disappoint. Had Roasted Tomato Soup (out of this world), poached lobster app, a Filet Special and creme brûlée. Everything was fantastic. Nice wine selection (enjoyed a 2009 Napa Silver Oak), but they offer a modest $15 cork fee if you have a favorite wine they don't offer.

A five star rating is not high enough for this place. I have traveled all over the U.S. And this place is the best. From the outstanding service, wine list and meal preparation. You will be amazed and will greatly enjoy your dinning experience. I will be back. I am traveling for business and may plan a trip just to bring my wife. Outstanding and this place is a 10.

Husband: "We're in business for 15 years and it's not because I'm a good waiter." LOL He sure speaks highly of his wife, as he should, cuz she's an excellent chef. They really know their stuff and the place is very nice. The food is off the hook! Count me back again. PS: Take their recommendation of the creamy tomato soup.

This place is a hidden gem! Our food and service were outstanding! I wish we had discovered this place earlier. I can't believe it has been there 15 years and we haven't tried it. We will definitely be back. All of the food was excellently prepared and I could have eaten five of the vegetable souffle side dish that came with our entrees. A nice touch- The waiter(chef's husband) lit a candle on our creme brulee since we were celebrating our anniversary and sent a special boxed truffle home with us with a note attached wishing us a Happy Anniversary!

This cute little restaurant is a gem. It is in an unsuspecting building and the only thing going on in this small out of the way town. BUT the food is definitely worth the trip. The wife is the executive chef. The husband manages and hosts and they have the same French waiter there that serves. From the warm bread to the shrimp cocktail, salmon and steak, I have not a single complaint. It is very very pricey, but worth it for very special occasions.

Dined here for the first time with friends from out of town on a Friday night. A husband and wife team cooked and served everyone. The service was entertaining and the food was amazing. This place is a must for anyone who enjoys fine food.

The food is excellent. We have eaten at this restaurant numerous times, and our food has been awesome each time. The tomato soup is unbelievably delicious. The bibb salad is scrumptious. Entres are not over powered with sauce. Entres are all delicious! The owners and staff are unbelievably friendly. You won't be disappointed! This restaurant is a gem

My parents have told me about Bijou for years. Living in NWI, it is not often that I am near Lebanon, let alone during dining hours. However, this week, I got lucky. I called the owner to ask if the restaurant would be open still at 8:00 p.m. He replied that he would stay open since he knew I was coming. I am so glad that he did. From start to finish, I had a four course meal that was out of this world. Mushroom crepe in a creamy gratin sauce followed by an amazing roasted tomato soup. AMAZING! The main course was the evening special, Steak Diane, with more hollandaise sauce than a person could want. Yet, I ate it all. The creamed spinach soufflé was a pleasant surprise on the side. The filet was perfection. The lobster portion on top was more than one typically sees in any restaurant on this dish. I rarely eat dessert, but couldn't refuse a pot de creme au chocolat. It was too die for. And the wine pairings selected by the owner were perfect. Downtown Lebanon is a small venue, off the beaten path. But this charming, intimate restaurant is definitely worth it. Not a far drive from Indy or Lafayette, and only a few minutes off of I-65, this is now one of my destination restaurants of choice.

Went there on the recommendation of a friend. Skeptical that there could be a good French restaurant in Lebanon. It wasn't good, it was exceptional. Ordered all the specials and weren't disappointed. Really enjoyed both the good and the ambiance. Can't wait to go back.

Lebanon, Indiana is approximately 4178 miles (or 6724 kilometers if you prefer) from Paris, France. However, our experience at the Bijou gave us a true Parisian experience just 10 minutes from our little suburban lives in the Midwest. I had heard wonderful things about Bijou from some of my colleagues and when our 15th Anniversary came around, it seemed like a logical time to give it a try. We were greeted by the owner and shown to an intimate table which has a bit of a history for wedding proposals and other memorable occasions. Our server, Philippe, who originally hailed from Paris, was outstanding and made us feel completely at home. He put us at ease with our dining selections, which might have been a little intimidating for the uninitiated. **In the interest of full disclosure, my better half is a French teacher and could have "showed off" a bit, but decided not to. Maybe next time!** From their "famous" French bread to the creme' brulee at the end of the meal, everything that was served to us was delicious. To start the meal, we shared the Duck Rillettes and a French Onion Soup, which were both a bit different than your typical Hoosier fare. For the main course, I opted for the Filet Oscar style. I've had my fair share of steak, but this stood out in that the combination of flavors was artistic. My better half had the Sole stuffed with Lobster and Shrimp and was kind enough to give me a few bites - which is saying a great deal since she is a big lobster fan! All in all, an exemplary dining experience. We will be back.
