Bijou

Reviews:
This nice French restaurant is truly a hidden gem of Lebanon. Most of the customers come from Indy or Lafayette. The building is vintage with a nice looking, well done interior. The menu has a pretty wide selection of items. I had the dinner feature of Flounder stuffed with lobster, crab, and shrimp with a white wine cream sauce. It was truly delicious. It is run by a husband and wife with a very small staff. They actually have a french waiter. I'd recommend a reservation unless you go very early. I suspect they only have a limited seating based not on space, but on staff. Overall, it is well worth the trip from Indy or the Lafayette area. Now that I know of it, I'll definitely be making more trips there.
We've been to Bijou at least 5-6 times over the past 10 years. The menu is limited and doesn't change, so it's easy to get a "been there" feeling after you've visited a few times. The food preparation is mostly good, and some of it is very good. Not much is great though, and occasionally something is below expectations. The service is professional, but at a recent visit there was not enough staff to adequately handle the small crowd. As a result, dinner for 6 took about 3 hours, which is way too long for a three-course meal in Indiana. The owner who runs the front of the house is nice, but it was disappointing that he didn't do much to help the single waiter when things got behind. Three of the meals during our most recent visit were excellent, two were very good, and one was fair. I had the stuffed flounder "special" and found it to be slightly overcooked and dry. The strip steak, lamb chops, and duck were excellent though, and the Tuna and the other fish dish were apparently very good. All of the appetizers were excellent, but the soups and salads were about average. I have my doubts about whether the Cesar salad dressing is really house-made. If it is house-made it appears to have been made well before service, and not made fresh as it should be. Overall, I still like the place, but it doesn't seem like the owners (who are the chef and the guy who runs the front of the house) are putting in the effort to make it top-drawer. I imagine that it must be hard to put in the necessary effort year-after-year if you're only going to have 20-30 guests on a good night, but that's the only way to have a first-class restaurant. They've lasted 10+ years though, which is not easy to do in this market. Wine is priced like they want to people to drink it, which is refreshing in Indiana. And there are several interesting wine choices on the list too. Overall, a nice place for a quiet, relaxed dinner, with the potential to be well above average if you're there on the right night. Cheers, T.
The Bijou is French cuisine. It is pricey but very good. Not an every day place to eat but a nice place for special occasions. The owner is a very nice man and the decor is formal. I have been there twice and received great food and service both times. Be prepared to drop $45 to $50 per person by the time you are finished.

When I go to my sons house I go by Flap Jack's and the parking lot is always full of cars. This is a good sign and is something to look into! We have stopped in twice, once for breakfast and the second time for dinner. I'm please to say the food was great both times. To start off with it's freshly made not frozen from a box or a bag!!!! Their soups are home made and you can taste the love that goes into making it. The servings are a good size and quite filling, they feed you they don't fool you!!! Remember to eat well and to live well, and please no chains!
I travel a fair amount around the Midwest and I'm always on the lookout for that mythical small-town diner that serves excellent food with down-home service. Flapjacks was one of those rare finds. I had the jalapeno breakfast skillet special that comes with a side of pancakes. Everything was homemade and delicious. The service was fast and friendly, and the place was very clean. There's a wonderful shaded outdoor seating area, too.
I've stopped in here three times over the past two months (for lunch each time) mainly because of its positive Yelp reviews. I suppose it's nice enough... if you're craving this type of diner experience. The service and food are OK but certainly nothing that special. The employees could be a bit friendlier and perhaps a little more diligent in the dishwashing department.

I love Chinese food - especially all you can eat buffets. Traveling on business to Lebanon and was surprised to find they have a Chinese buffet restaurant. Decided to give it a try. Best $10 Buffet I have ever had.
I've been around this part of the Midwest for most of my life, and I didn't know this place existed! It is stuck back in the corner behind Bob EvaN'S's, next to Little Ceasar's, and is easy to miss. it was later in the evening, about an hour before closing. the food was dried and tasteless, some of they sticky foods (General Tzao's) were stuck to the bottom of thew warming pans. The rice, steamed and fried, was old and crusty. Stuffed mushroom had a consistency of parchment paper. But then again, this IS a buffet. Probably not the best choice at 8:00 PM opn a Thursday! The Peanut Butter chicken showed promises, as did the Beef and Broccoli. I LIKED the Egg Drop soup, which seemed to have been refreshed just before I arrived. I think this place has some promise if you plan your visit during busy hours when the food is turned over frequently, but for a late evening visit, try the little hole-inp-the-wall [place a couple of blocks south.
I was very disappointed after reading the excellent reviews. The egg drop soup was tasteless, the bacon wrapped crab was dry and hard and the overall selection was poor. The wait staff was friendly though but I won't be back.

Arni’s

Inside joke for my friends: They have bread. And the two pieces of the garlic butter-drenched type was the highlight of the meal. The salad I got was covered in a mountain of shredded cheese and the alleged balsamic vinaigrette was, essentially, watered-down but over-salted Italian. I think. The service was glacially slow. I think the sea levels rose while I was there. While serving the next table over my waitress managed to pour water down her hand and onto the table when trying to refill their waters. I was hoping for a hometown home run. I got a strikeout.
The decorum in this place is wonderful I will give it that, and it was clean. Aside from that the service was a nightmare. Had our order taken and waited 38 minutes for a burger and a salad!!! When the food did arrive I was given no condiments salt pepper and peppercorn flakes. I ordered a Cajun burger and I must say it w as far from the bellows of the south. The brioche was cold and the burger was burned to death. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone rns
Being a Frankfort native, I grew up with Arni's being one of the only places to eat. Today, I was in Lebanon for the day at the waterpark with a friend, and we decided to go to Arni's for lunch in Lebanon on the square. We were seated right away and the hostess got our drinks immediately. We ordered a Stromboli and a Jr. Fried Chicken Salad to split. Our waitress was GREAT and brought us plates out before to split the meal up. She gave us each our own dressing without charging more, and she kept the refills coming. When we were done, she offered us to go cups, and the kicker is that since we were just sitting there gabbing...she didn't ignore us! She made sure we were doing well long after we paid and made us feel comfortable. The food was typical of Arni's, which isn't AMAZING, but it's still pretty good. The experience here today was pretty great!

So, I'm gonna be really honest here. If it wasn't for this Starbucks, my life would not be the same. Mornings that I just can't pull myself together... Starbucks. Mornings when I want to pull my hair out... Starbucks. Every Friday morning... Starbucks. The key here is there is not another Starbucks for MILES from this location. The staff is friendly and the location is perfect next to the interstate.
Tiny Starbucks but laid out well for maximum seating. The baristas were slow - we waited almost 10 minutes for two drinks and there was no one else there. Bathrooms needed a once over with a Clorox wipe. That path to get back on 65 is no joke. Be careful, travelers.
Stopped here on my way back from Cincinnati after getting gas. The wifey had to use the washroom. The one good thing about not being in Chicago is that you don't have trouble finding a public bathroom. In Chicago you have to either buy something, ask for a code, get a key, or beg someone to get into the washroom. But anywhere else you can simply walk in, drop a load, and go. Nice.

Ice Cream Paradise

I really just love this place. The coneys are my favorite and the flavored sodas are perfect. I'm sure there is an element of nostalgia that is combined with my limited ability to visit that amps up my enthusiasm, but I just can't help it. A childhood riddled with visits ice cream cones shared with my grandparents evolved into teenage years visiting my friends who worked there. Memories abound for me personally, but there is also the air of time standing ever so slightly still. Close your eyes and you can see a parking lot full of now vintage cars spilling out families. Picnic tables full of laughter and summer gaiety. All of this still exists here at Ice Cream Paradise. Stop by. Have a dog, a cone, and a make a memory with friends. There will be no regrets.
Old fashioned ice cream stand with a wraparound drive-thru and a large playground for kiddos. Evidently, they have rotating sherbets, and I got the orange sherbet that was available. It was good but not exceptional. It was, however, very inexpensive and this is a fun place to stop if you're driving on Interstate 65 as it's just off the exit.
Extremely slow service and inconvenient when you just want a quick bite or dessert. Ice cream is great but they really need to amp up the speed of service.
