Probably the best upscale food in NWI hands down. Enzo's holds its own when it comes to talking about restaurants like Cafe Borgia, Cafe Lucrezia, Valley, and anything in Valpo (Bistro, Pikk's). Good wine and beer. Amazing sausage and pepper for an appetizer. By far the best spaghetti I have ever tasted. From anywhere. Specials are always good. Tuscan Airline Chicken is absolutely amazing. The thing that is rarely on the menu is Brine Soaked Pork Chops (the owner makes them). Apparently my father dreams of the dish. Excellent service. Never had a anything short of spectacular from this place.

Service is always impeccable, here at Enzo's. This place gives you the small town, intimate feel. In terms of fine dining, LaPorte is limited and this place tops the market along with Spire. My favorites: 1) sausage and pepper appetizer 2) Marco pizza 3) house salad 4) nightly stuffed chicken special 5) nightly risotto special 6) pecan ball dessert 7) and, of course the cucumber martini, which always puts me in a good mood There was a little delay in getting out entrees which was only slightly noticeable. The manager/owner came by the table without prompting and apologized and informed us of an oversight and that he would "comp" our two appetizers. Since I sipping on my Veramonte Sauvignon Blanc, I really didn't mind the wait. His two visits to the table was unnecessary but much appreciated! If you are in the area, look no further than Enzo's for a cozy, comfort Italian dinner.

My wife and I happened in by chance. We were not disappointed. The stuffed chicken was delish....the cream of mushroom soup was the perfect texture....same goes for the garlic mashed potatoes. We will be back!

Enzo's is our trusted fav here in LaPorte. My only complaint is that it's sometimes noisy on a busy night. There food is relatively good and the service is always knowledgeable, friendly and on point. Last night we wound up going there late (after 9:00) after walking out of our original restaurant after 2 hours waiting for food-- that's subject for a different review). We called Enzo's and not only did they tell us to come on down, but they bent over backwards to get us bread right away, take our orders and get us served. We were in and out in less than an hour, happy and well fed. Thank you Enzo's!

dinner for two.. we got an appetizer, 2 dinners, 2 beers, 1 desert, $60 before tip. We went on a tuesday night, no reservation was needed, the restaurant is very small tho so I would think most nights you'll need one. Our server was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable...everything that she should be. Food was decent. Tortellini wasn't any better than olive garden, my fish was good but the mashed potatoes and asparagus tasted the same as they come out of my kitchen. Overall I felt like it was "just average" - but I'm not from LaPorte, so it may very well be the best in town. Not somewhere I will drive out of my way to go to again, but if you're staying in LaPorte, check Enzo's menu online and call ahead!

Great food. Small restaurant. Good service. Reasonable prices. I'd go here again in a minute and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for good Italian.

I came here with my brother and his three kids at last minute while on vacation last week. It was pretty good for this area. I had the farfalle con pollo which was pretty tasty. Chicken was sort of dry and tasted exactly like chicken on my pasta dish at Brewsters so maybe they all order from same place! My brother really enjoyed his minestrone soup and the kids got cheese pizza and my niece ordered extra sauce with her kids pasta and it took a while to get it but they were pretty busy. Service was just ok. Hostess was real nice but waitress acted like we were putting her out just by being there.

My husband and I love this restaurant! We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked thru the door. We got there about 1/2 hour after they opened. Our server, Hannah, took our drink order and returned promptly with our 1/2 liter of wine and glasses. We ordered mini calzones as our appetizer and they were served with a marinara sauce to dip them in. Served piping hot! Yum!! I had penne pasta in a spicy arrabiatta sauce with shrimp and my husband had spaghetti and meatballs. This food was so well prepared and tasted wonderful. We couldn't possibly eat our entire meal, there was enough there for 2 meals! Love the atmosphere, the food and the fact that the staff never makes you feel like you need to hurry! A great and satisfying dining experience!

Have wanted to try Enzo for a long time and finally did last night and wish I would have sooner! Absolutely delicious! Everyone from the hostess to the waitress was super friendly and attentive. I had my favorite,Chicken Parmesan, on special and it was one of the best around. I loved the bread and oil served and the Caesar salad was very flavorful. I would only prefer that the salad/soup be included with the entree, instead of having to be extra. Had a cannoli for dessert and it was good, not the best I've ever had but tasty. I will definitely be returning to this new favorite place!

Very solid Italian restaurant in La Porte with friendly proprietors and servers. I work for a company with a factory in La Porte and this is one of my go-to spots for dinner when I'm in town. Full bar, good wine, draft beer, fresh bread served with good olive oil & parm I've ordered all around the menu and always been happy with my food. I'll definitely be back.

Surprise visit to LaPorte with a bonus: Enzo. Featured risotto was creamy and hearty. Will dream of the corn chowder. Home made cheesecake was perfect. Waitress was helpful in directing choices.

The staff is awesome. The food is high quality and very consistent. The restaurant was recently bought and now under new ownership. I hope they don't mess with what made Enzo's so successful. The winning combination of high quality food, service and atmosphere.

I went to Enzo's last Friday for my friend's rehearsal dinner the night before their wedding. They have a beautiful room upstairs that is quite elegant and reminiscent of a real Italian eatery. There were approximately 30 people in attendance and my friends had rented the entire upstairs for this private affair. Apparently, Enzo's didn't think that large of a party would require more than one server, yes, 1 server for 30 people which included cocktail hour, appetizers and the main course. The server we had was wonderful and she was working her fanny off, red in the face, sweating and all trying to simply get the job done, which was clearly an impossible feat. At 3 different points members of the party went to talk to the manager to get additional help and were told that they were simply too busy downstairs to assign an additional server to our party! Imagine that! Keep in mind that the server we did have had to run up and down 2 flights of stairs all night while trying to serve 30 people. The bride, groom and I ended up clearing tables, going downstairs to get silverware etc. It was absolutely ridiculous. The meals were all showing up at different times so nobody actually got to eat together and the drinks were empty all night. I would NOT recommend this restaurant based solely on the lack of service.

Came for husband's birthday. Didn't mention birthday, but wish we did, since we got sat in the worst table of the house, right next to the curtain to the kitchen. Actually, it was kind of entertaining watching the near misses of catastrophe of wait staff vs wait staff, and wait staff vs restroom patrons next to the curtain. We were asked for our drink order. All carafes that were inquired about were Italian wines. As soon as these words left birthday boy's mouth, I kicked him under the table. The question was "What region of wine is -I can't remember the name, but it was a red wine- from"? The answer given was "Italy". Ordered vegetable lasagna (good) and a salmon (not good) entree. The garlic mashed potatoes were frickin awesome, maybe the best I've ever had.

The food is wonderful! It's a little pricey but you get plenty of food. The only reason why I'm giving this four instead of five is our waitress wasn't very attentive. No one at our table ever got a refill on their drinks. But the, I'm assuming, manager stopped by a few times to make sure we were doing well. Overall we were pleasantly surprised.

I am Enzo, Enzo the baker. OK, sorry couldn't resist the Godfather reference. We have been to Enzo's several times and it is one of the best restaurants around. It is a quaint little restaurant in downtown LaPorte that serves up some terrific Italian food. We were able to call ahead to secure a table, which you pretty much need to do as this place is not too big. My wife and I were joined by her sister and husband. Wouldn't you know that we got the exact same things? They have a sweet "dinner for two" option which includes a soup or salad starter, a pizza or pasta and dessert to share for $30. The minestrone was great on this chilly afternoon after getting soaked watching the Irish. Pizzas for the ladies, which they enjoyed. Penne with Sausage, EVOO, sun dried tomatoes and fresh basil for the guys. My brother in law wolfed down the dish. Can't say I blame him, it was very good. Since we had to run to grab the kids, they pack our Tiramisu to go. Service was a bit off, but they still got us in and out pretty quickly. It wasn't expensive at all and you can really get a ton of food for what you pay. However, they suffer from the same problem just about every place around here has. Smoke. And a lot of it. We were sitting pretty close to the bar and smoke was just rolling out of there. Not appetizing at all. Enzo send the smokers outside and you'd have a 5 star establishment with more patrons.

Very good! I had the shrimp and scallop ravioli and it was really good. Portions are very large and service was friendly and fast. Strawberry martini was excellent. One gripe- The place gets VERY loud when it's crowded and it's difficult to have a conversation. But it is well worth the visit!

we have never been disappointed with anything we've gotten from enzo's and it's always been warm cozy and service is friendly, my waitress always remembers the drink i normally order and that's really nice! I love their spaghetti, the tiramisu, and the stuffed chicken is amazing every time! A smidge pricey, but well worth it with what we have to choose from around our parts!

Located in the heart of downtown La Porte, IN, this is NOT the type of place I expected to find in La Porte, IN. We went there on a Friday night at around 7:30. There was a rather long wait. From what I hear, there is a rather long wait all of the time here. The looks of this place can be deceiving. It looks as if it is in a very large building, but when you walk in the dining area is not very big at all. The waiting area was even more cramped. We were told that it would be about a 20 minute wait. It kind of perturbed me that the actual wait was 40 minutes. We started out with an order of calamari and marinara sauce. It was decent calamari and the marinara sauce had a little bit of a kick to it. I am kicking myself because I can't remember the name of what I ordered. It was bow tie pasta in a creamy white sauce with peas and prosciutto. It was very good The service here is very good. The atmosphere is simple yet effective. The wine list and the menu itself has a good selection but does not overwhelm you. I would like to try some more options the next time I am out here.

This restaurant is a favorite place of my husband and I. We get the dinner for two most every time we go which we feel is a great deal. The environment is casual and romantic. The food is fresh and you can taste it in every bite. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It can get crowded at night but not anything unusual for a quality restaurant. We use it for our date nights and love it! For a small town like La Porte, it's unusual to find such a gem.

i love enzo's! this is not the place to go if you're looking for diet food. it is the place to go for good, fresh, italian food. the atmosphere is cozy and romantic - or maybe that's just 'cause i was there w/ my now husband. i wouldn't think that this is the place to go for a birthday party, or where you'd bring small children. it's more the place to go for lovers, girls night out, anniversary party, family gathering. it's mature and grown up, and it's for the side of you that likes some fancy. i have had the gorgonzola & asparagus chicken both times i've been. and each time is just as exciting in my mouth. fresh cream.....mmmmm my husband had the mushroom ravioli w/ red pepper bruschetta.....just as good, and fresh. i love fresh food! and bread - their bread and butter is so fresh. as a rule i do not eat bread w/ meals. i think it's gross. but fresh baked bread, that has never sat in a bag? i cannot resist. and i'm not sure, but i think they get fresh churned butter (it doesn't have that "refrigerator" air taste to it) and they have gelato! their banana fudge gellato is to die for! the waitstaff is friendly, and unassuming. you barely know they're there (i am not a fan of overbearing service staff, i like when i get what i need and they just disappear, breezing by and paying attention to your needs.) i love laporte for the antique mall tour, so any chance i have to go back i will definitely be eating at enzo's!

I went here for my birthday on a Tuesday evening. The service was excellent. The hostess was gracious and the waitress was attentive and made sure to answer all the questions my wife and I had. So it started out well. For dinner: Bourbon (1 ice cube), Nailed it! Calamari (tasted like rubber dipped in flour and spritzed with water...not good.) Filet Mignon (I asked for it cooked medium rare, and there was pink in the middle, but it was tough as nails. It did taste like it was flame cooked). Risotto Del Giorno (this was disappointing as it tasted like it came straight from the frozen food isle in Al's. There is literally nothing special about this dish) Potato-Leek Soup (should be called potato-chicken-stock soup. It tasted like liquidy-mashed-potatoes thinned out with chicken stock. There was zero hint of leek in this. Disappointed). Needless to say, the bill was around $60. I suppose for the volume of food, the price was right, but the quality was sub-par. Neither my wife or myself will go back nor would we recommend this restaurant to people coming into town. It has the look of a nice place, but we were over dressed in jeans, button-downs, and nice shoes. For the appearance, the food should have been much better. I hope it hires serious cooks for weekdays or changes the menu. It definitely needs a pick-me-up.

Stopped here on our trip to the twin cities. The website drew us to this restaurant and we were not disappointed. It was Thursday evening, and we were seated right away. The staff could not have been more pleasant. Amber delighted us with her stories of the history of the building and the town. The salad, which was a special that night was delicious; much more than a simple wedge; the portion was plenty for two to share. The roasted pepper soup was recommended and was a great choice. We shared the pizza, which was also wonderful; chocked full of chicken, sun dried tomatoes and so much more! The half carafe of wine was reasonably priced and was delicious. We are so pleased we made this stop instead of hitting a chain restaurant as recommmended. It is truly a hidden gem off the highway !

My wife and I love Enzo's. We usually get the dinner for two special which is a great deal. The soups are always rich and delicious and the entrees are wonderful. One of the best restaurants in La Porte.

I've never tasted anything un-delicous at Enzo's. The bar area is quaint, it's cute. The ambiance is great, food is better, wine list is sparkeling. I love their stuffed chicken with pinot. Num, num!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
