HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I had my wedding there on 8/8/2015 and having it at Heston Hills Banquets made all the difference! First off, I loved that the location has both an outside (Prairie Terrace) that is surrounded by nature and a lovely/elegant, grand ballroom on the inside (Galena room). So naturally, I chose to have both my ceremony AND reception there! What I also really liked about the "plan B" location for the ceremony just in case it rained (Prairie view room). Secondly, the event coordinator there, Sue, was such a huge help! I met with her on several occasions going over the food (Heston provides the food-so good!), drink, chair/table, and decoration options. Could't have done it without her! Third and final point, is that all of this was at a very good price! I was looking around for several months trying to find venues that had what I was looking for that didn't come with a Chicago amount price tag. It was a win-win in the end! The day of the wedding came around and everything went so smoothly! Nothing went wrong at all-absolutely flawless! Sue and her assistant kept the flow of things moving at a good pace and they arranged everything with the vendors on site. Thank you so much again! So, if you're looking for a perfect ceremony and/or reception site, look no further :)
I attended a wedding & reception at Heston Hills and was very impressed. There is plenty of parking and the building and grounds are very well kept. The catered food was all very good from the pasta & veggie meal to the prime rib, nobody complained about their food taste or temperature. Additionally, the large reception area we were in had a nice outdoor area where those who needed a fresh breath of air could gather.
Our wedding reception was here. It was a huge reception (350 people). The coordinator at the time was WONDERFUL. She no longer works there, as our wedding was 3 years ago. But - nonetheless - the Prime Rib is famous, and of course delicious (same prime rib as Heston Bar). I loved all the food, the choices, the staff. It was rather pricey but what do you expect for a secluded, gorgeous location? The wedding was held on the terrace, it was beautiful and perfect. But, of course, I am a bit biased as it was my wedding day. :)

Mike is right. It is an ice cream shop(pe), not a coffee shop by any means, and the ice cream is superb. He buys great ice cream from Sherman's and delicious desserts from what is one of the best bakers in the region! Those two things carry this business as quality coffee & customer service are not the order of the day at Temple. We have given it a couple other chances and the family loves the ice cream. The coffee remains a train wreck of an experience, however, and it is all because of the multitude of reasons the proprietor mentions in his posted retort... the greatest of which is that the place is frequently over run with middle school & highschool-age youth who shouldn't be trusted to dispense their own cream and sugar (and who turn the throwback laidback atmosphere into LPHS Cafeteria time), the staff isn't properly trained, and the owner is only interested in coffee as a side gig for the ice cream scooping biz. Kudos to Mike for employing the underexperienced to scoop ice cream & run the register. Keep it simple, pal. For ice cream, there is no better place in town (unfortunately). For coffee & overall customer service? Keep walking.
A visit to downtown La Porte is just not complete without a visit to Temple. It is just a block off the main street, Lincolnway, and it's quiet location on Jefferson between Indiana and Michigan Avenues adds to it's charm. It's a combination of old-fashioned ice cream parlor and hip coffee house with a side of kitsch thrown in. It's named after the original business that occupied that location, and you can still purchase newspapers there, as well as used books. If you're from the area, or there visiting someone who is, you'll be amused by the collection of old local high school yearbooks where you can check out how we all looked back in the day. It is also a musicians' hangout and a favorite place for local musicians to jam, often on an impromptu basis. Tuesday is Bluegrass night, and even if you think you do not like bluegrass, you can't help but be entertained -- chances are you will find your toes tapping along with these characters. While delicious confections made with Sherman's ice cream are the favorite of the young and young-at-heart (my personal favorite is the chocolate sodas made the time-intensive old-fashioned way!), they also have awesome coffee as well as a variety of espresso beverages. They sell fresh coffee beans and loose-leaf teas in a variety of flavors, as well as chocolates and other items. There are different soups and lunch specials on different days and the paninis are not to be missed. Stop in and belly up to the bar! You'll be supporting a homegrown, local business, and you won't be disappointed!
The best coffee shop ever. We love their mocha's and the atmosphere it great too!

awesome salsa. Good authentic Mexican. Nice tables. Expand this place and they will come. Friendly neighborhood Mexican staple.
I love Mexican food. REAL mexican food. That's why I love this place. It's a little cramped inside, but everyone's super nice and we've always had good service and good food, so I can't complain too much. Every town has an authentic mexican restaurant, and this is ours!
This is not another knock off it is the real deal from top to bottom. There is not another Mexican restaurant like this in miles it is the best I have had in a long time and the staff is super friendly. Nothing taste like it was ever frozen it is fresh made when you order it. I will definitely be going back and they do take out and pick up so no matter what you are feeling you can get good food.

Probably the best upscale food in NWI hands down. Enzo's holds its own when it comes to talking about restaurants like Cafe Borgia, Cafe Lucrezia, Valley, and anything in Valpo (Bistro, Pikk's). Good wine and beer. Amazing sausage and pepper for an appetizer. By far the best spaghetti I have ever tasted. From anywhere. Specials are always good. Tuscan Airline Chicken is absolutely amazing. The thing that is rarely on the menu is Brine Soaked Pork Chops (the owner makes them). Apparently my father dreams of the dish. Excellent service. Never had a anything short of spectacular from this place.
Service is always impeccable, here at Enzo's. This place gives you the small town, intimate feel. In terms of fine dining, LaPorte is limited and this place tops the market along with Spire. My favorites: 1) sausage and pepper appetizer 2) Marco pizza 3) house salad 4) nightly stuffed chicken special 5) nightly risotto special 6) pecan ball dessert 7) and, of course the cucumber martini, which always puts me in a good mood There was a little delay in getting out entrees which was only slightly noticeable. The manager/owner came by the table without prompting and apologized and informed us of an oversight and that he would "comp" our two appetizers. Since I sipping on my Veramonte Sauvignon Blanc, I really didn't mind the wait. His two visits to the table was unnecessary but much appreciated! If you are in the area, look no further than Enzo's for a cozy, comfort Italian dinner.
My wife and I happened in by chance. We were not disappointed. The stuffed chicken was delish....the cream of mushroom soup was the perfect texture....same goes for the garlic mashed potatoes. We will be back!

I have to admit I haven't eaten here yet, but when I'm in town I always stop in for a cocktail. This is perhaps the coziest neighborhood bar on earth. There's no pretense here. You are likely to enter through a side door that walks you straight in through the bar itself--one of the only places in Indiana where you get to do that (something about being grandfathered in). While they have a small collection of premium (and local) drafts on tap, why not get an Old Style in a frozen schooner? There's a self-serve popcorn machine with bowls and hot sauce at the ready. And even if you're not a local, after a few minutes you will be chatting with the bartender and other customers as if you were. If this bar were in my neighborhood, it would definitely be my "neighborhood bar."

This is a review of having an event at the golf club, not actually golfing there. We had a party for about 40 people in the private lower level. The buffet-style food was all really good: pastry-wrapped asparagus, roasted and mashed potatoes, sausage, sauerkraut, smoked salmon, sausage-stuffed dates. Everything was hot and quickly replenished when it began to run low. There is a separate bar downstairs and a kitchen as well. Decor is pretty understated...not obnoxious and certainly not as dated as in some country clubs. Mainly there are big sepia-toned historical photographs of past inhabitants of the region. There's a grand piano down there, which came in handy to guide our singing of "Happy Birthday". The staff did a great job keeping water glasses full, and the tables were set-up well. The chairs are red...it made our St. Patrick's Day themed party look just a little Christmas-y but that was ok. If you don't like red chairs, consider having them covered. There are plenty of electrical outlets and there are also little twinkle Christmas lights around the perimeter of the room. The floor is carpeted but there is a small wood dance floor off to one side. Closets are available for coats. I would recommend this venue based upon the food, service, and environment for events.

This is in my top 3 pizza places. Giordanos in Chicago and Brozinni's pizza ( NY Style ) in Indianapolis. Crust is excellent, sauce is sweet how I like and everything is fresh. You can't go wrong. It think it is a few bucks more expensive and slightly smaller than my other two favorite places ( not in this area) but it is the best in the area.
If you're looking for a casual pizza place with great customer service and tasty food, look no further! Our party of 6 plus 1 child ordered an extra Large "Super Six" pizza and it was PLENTY! The Super Six is comprised of sausage, cheese, green pepper, ham, pepperoni and mushrooms. We omitted the ham and got black olives. The crust is so good and I'm not normally a crust person. (I think it might have beer in the dough - yum!) We had to get the cookie skillet for dessert and it's worth 5 Stars.
The cheese was good but the sauce was very salty. The crust had a weird after-taste of soybean oil.

Heston Supper Club

Reviews:
To describe my experience in one phrase, I would say "old school". I have limited knowledge of classic supper clubs, but this place matched the vision in my head. Plus, the place has a rich history which makes the experience that much better. I enjoyed the house special prime rib (the 22 oz was HUGE!) and the twice baked potato - which is a must-order. The seafood was great as well, and the table enjoyed several of the apps. I actually rather enjoyed the frog legs (tastes like chicken!) and of course the cheese curds. My only real criticism would be the service. It wasn't bad mind you, but it was far from 5-star. Overall, it was a great night out!
My family of four made the hour drive out to Heston Supper Club at the suggestion of a colleague. It was a gorgeous Friday evening. We were seated in the back room, which was full of natural light. Heston's serves a variety of small bites of bread, whipped butter, crackers, and cheese spread as soon as you're seated. The variety was pretty cool. My father and I ordered the 22oz "House Cut" of Prime Rib. Mom got smoked BBQ ribs and sis got Shrimp de Jonghe. We decided on a shrimp/crab cake for a starter. The shrimp/crab cake was presented nicely, with the waitress informing us that each is made-to-order. I'm not a huge fan of crab cakes, and this reminded me why. Heston's had a weird texture and the flavor was very flat. It really tasted of salt with no depth of flavor. Disappointed. Soup and salad was served before our entrées. I ordered clam bisque. It was full of hearty veggies and clams. Flavor and texture was on point. It might have benefitted from a bit of sherry but I was pleased. The rest of my family had salad that closely resembled something out of a sack from the grocery store. I would definitely recommend Heston's soup over their uninspired salads. At this point, I should mention that the service we received throughout our meal was top-notch. None of us had to ask for a refill or for dishes to be cleared. Heston's gets 1 full star for their impressive service. But for a place that pegs its reputation on prime rib and its entrées, I can't justify anything above three stars for this establishment. My mom's portion of ribs looked and smelled delicious even if they were a bit small for a full rack. My father, who ordered his House Cut cooked to medium rare, was uninspired by the flavor of the beef. I ordered my cut cooked to medium, and was pretty happy. Not too much fat- just enough to keep the huge slice of beef moist. It could have used more seasoning but I was generally happy with my cut of beef. All of us agreed that the baked potatoes were perfect but, seriously, how hard is it to mess up a baked potato? The largest disappointment at the table came from my sister, who ordered the Shrimp de Jonghe. It was supposed to be shrimp prepared with garlic and a crispy breadcrumb topping. What she got was rubbery, bland, and complete mush. I've made similar recipes at home and I have to say the execution of this recipe at Heston's was entirely unsatisfactory. She only managed to eat two shrimps. I've sent maybe two dishes back to the kitchen in years of dining out, but I would certainly have sent this one back. For an establishment of this caliber, I would expect them to pull off such a simple recipe with a lot more finesse. In sum, Heston's gets 1 star for remarkable service, 1 star for their soup and complimentary cheese and crackers, and 1 star for their prime rib. For $160 for four, we would have preferred driving an hour in the other direction to Chicago for a more refined dining experience.
I love this place. My family has been going here every easter for the past 15 years + The menu if fairly simple, meat and potatoes and it is always good. Friendly service, delicious food and a quaint little restaurant. I cannot wait to go again and eat some delicious Prime Rib

Excellent sandwiches the whole office enjoyed. Ready when we arrived for pick up. Reasonably priced. We'll order again. -Alexandria Moulding
I've been craving an Indiana Deli Cobb salad so I called ahead and picked one up to go. What's a Cobb Salad? Well, the menu says "Greens, Tomato, Spouts, Avocado, Black Olives, Bacon, Chicken & Blue Cheese Served with Crackers and Choice of Dressing (I suggest the Russian Dressing - so good!) . $7.50 Full / $6.00 Half. Overall it was alright but instead of the blue cheese, they substituted (I think) provolone. Thank goodness I had some blue cheese crumbles at home because this really makes the salad. They also didn't include Spouts but maybe that's a seasonal item. The chicken was overcooked and almost resembled the bacon. But on a positive note, my crackers transformed into a roll right before my eyes....can you say, UPGRADE! I hear wonderful things about the sandwiches so I think next time I'll have to try one of those.
I don't know about the catering side of it but this place has some of the best sandwiches in town. Everything is fresh, I get a kick out of trying something new each time we come to the deli. They have so many unique sandwiches in a time where every restaurant seems to have the same thing. My coworkers rave about the soups and salads but I am still working through the sandwich menu. Today i had the Belle Gunness sandwich and fruit. Service has always been good. I have only two complaints, plastic chairs and short hours. If they were open longer I would be picking up dinner on the way home.

Came here after we were on the road from Monticello. I ordered the chopped steak & eggs, good!! My wife had Eggs Benedict and liked them. But when I was going through the menu, I remembered someone telling me to try their chicken. So I ordered a 20 piece for dinner later. Very good!! When the grandkids eat it, you know it's good.....Since the Warehouse closed, this might be our first choice for fried chicken now.
My wife and I love coming to this place. We enjoy the familiar staff, the family-friendly experience, and the food isn't too bad either. Normally I'm a harsh critic, but I just like Christo's - always have.
Lame menu. Slow service. Just not up to par.
