Best known for tenderloin. Home made pies. Small town, traditional diner atmosphere with historic local pics on the walls. I haven't tried anything other than the tenderloin but keep going back for that.

Super tender and a perfect crunch on these hubcap sized tenderloin sandwiches!! The fresh handcut French fries were superb as well.

We are breaded tenderloin sandwich fans and have tried many throughout the Midwest. Nick's sandwich is one of the best we have had. The original sandwich is big enough for two to share and so is an order of their excellent fries. The ambience is 'hometown diner" and the staff is friendly and engaging. Nick's Kitchen is well worth a trip to downtown Huntington!

Just say yes! PORK LOIN. Walk in, sit down, order the breaded loin, get some onion rings or fries if you must, and a root beer to top, eat. Um um good. This place is real. Thanks for reminding me that quality comes in all shapes, sizes, and price points.

So.... I am torn on the review rating. If you rate the food only, it gets a solid 3 but the pies are an easy 5~ We absolutely LOVE the Black Raspberry pie. So much so that when we make it to Indiana, we call ahead and order a whole pie to take. Do yourself a favor and stop here for some delicious pie!!

This place is obviously known for their tenderloin, so I had to get one when I went there. Now I don't know much about tenderloins, but the one I had here was fantastic! I got some fries on the side and those were delicious also. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive to us and it was a very great experience

This was a destination drive for us - and with the highest expectations. It was good. Service was excellent and place was charming & squeaky clean. Was it incredible, was it stellar, was it THE BEST TENDERLOIN EVER? No (x) 3. I frankly was underwhelmed overall. Yelp Nation, you let me down here. 3-3.5 stars Our Nick's virgin party of 3 all ordered the famous original breaded tenderloins - and on recommendation saved room for the touted pies. The tenderloin was good. It wasn't knock my socks off - I've had a ton of tenderloins, this was good, not in my top 5 Indiana breaded tenderloins - probably not in my top 10 either. Pork was pounded too thinly for our preference. I want some chew, I don't care for it to be the size of a hub cap. It was a cracker crumb breading. Served hot and loaded with the garden as requested. Pie: we had the sugar cream and black raspberry. I've eaten lots of pie - again an underwhelming example. Meh. Would I return. Perhaps. Destination worthy - not for us and I'm very sad to admit it. We stopped at Payne's to salvage the day.

14 dollars for two for breakfast. Supposed to be the home of the Pork tenderloin sandwich. I will have to visit in the evening sometime. Breakfast was good. typical diner type atmosphere.

There's a little town in Indiana called Huntington. In Huntington, there is a fantastic little diner called Nick's Kitchen. It is a slice of heaven if you love amazing food for cheap as well as history and meeting every day folk for a bit of wisdom. The Pork Tenderloin Sandwich is famous and as good as any I've had in the Midwest, including my own. It's well worth the trip. To those that say this is not an authentic Midwest Pork Tenderloin sandwich, I will quote the owner whom I agree with entirely; "They don't know what they're talking about!" I've traveled extensively in the Midwest. Cowens in Washington, MO has an amazing pork tenderloin sandwich and Nicks' ranks right up there with that one, if not better. The place was packed for lunch and that's always a good sign. I could not recommend this restaurant more highly. It is an American gem, one of a dying breed being supplanted by the likes of Red Robin and Texas Roadhouse and numerous other corporate owned feeding troughs. This is a must for any seasoned lover of American Diners.

This might be THE Hoosier tenderloin. Any diner that lasts 100 years is worth checking out. If the neon art deco sign doesn't draw you in, hopefully this review will. The Hoosier Pork Tenderloin was not only amazing, it was traditional. Juicy inside, crunchy outside, small bun, some onion, a slice of tomato, and some mustard. Delectable. The pies were incredible as well. I had strawberry pie, and it was tart and firm with a crunchy crust. I want to go back and try the cream pies!

Lived up to its billing. Pork loin sandwich was HUGE. my wife had the pulled pork dinner and again the portion was enough for two. No room for the sugar cream pie but another diner had the pecan pie and it was above average but nothing to write home about. They gave me the 20% Yelp discount for a first-time check-in with no problem but I'm not sure if they'd ever seen such a thing. All in all I'd recommend this place anytime. Typical mid-west ambience v

This restaurant is adorable....it's decorated with historic photos of the Huntington area, many of them from the railroad. There are booths along the walls, tables in the center, and a lunch counter with vinyl covered stools. I traveled to Huntington for work, and decided I HAD to eat at the "birthplace of the Hoosier Pork Tenderloin sandwich," even if that meant I wouldn't be able to make it to the Dan Quayle Museum. I had a monstrous ham and cheese omelet, the size of my plate. It had nice chunks of real ham (not the over-processed lunchmeat stuff) and was loaded up with cheddar cheese on the inside. It comes with 2 pieces of butter-laden toast. Shamefully, I ate most of the toast as well. Why is this shameful? Because when I bit the toast, butter dripped out. Oh so good! My coworker had the tenderloin, and carved a piece off for me. It's very good. Nice white pork, not fatty, with a thin golden breading...I'd say comfortably among the top 3 tenderloins I've had. Neither of us had room for additional sides, and I appreciate that the sandwiches and omelets don't "come with" potatoes in addition to the bread. No one needs that much starch in one meal! The waitress eventually warmed up, the owner came out and chatted for a bit, and her son (who was cooking) waved from the kitchen. Worth your while to check out this piece of Americana.

Everyone talks about the Nick's pork tenderloin... They have a good promo spin machine going for them. Seriously folks, this breaded pork tenderloin has had the life pounded out of it, crumb breaded similar to panko. It should be considered a fritter or pork milanese, not a hand batter-breaded pork tenderloin. The real thing doesn't need pounded out and cooked long enough to skip across ice like a hockey puck. By the time they are done it's hard to tell if it is chicken, beef, or mongoose. Hence the two star review. There are better tenderloins in Huntington, some convenience stores/gas stations have better versions. As a diner this is a decent enough place to go. They offer typical diner food, as good as any. I have eaten tenderloins here more than once and probably will again, it's just not the place I would choose for the "real thing" tenderloin. For those who aren't from the midwest what hoosiers order as a tenderloin is a slice of pork tenderloin slathered in breading then deep fried until it floats and then all that goodness is bunned for your pleasure.

Pork Tenderloin sandwich is amazing!!! And the pie is really good too! I had the sugar cream, rubarb (sp) and black raspberry and they were all great. I love coming here.

Nick's rolls along on it's history and past reputation, but the food doesn't measure up. Their "famous" breaded pork tenderloin sandwich is disappointing; dry, flavorless, and the bun crumbles after two bites. French fries are not crisp. Service is very slow; we had to get up twice to get items we needed because it was impossible to get a waiter's attention. The 2-star rating is for the decor, which was the only pleasant thing about Nick's Kitchen. You'd do better eating at home.

Saw this on Food Paradise for the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich. My father lives near here so I stopped in while visiting him. Oh man, awesome! The place is a typical quaint diner in middle America. The sandwich is worth the visit alone. Man that was good. Pounded flat and fried up perfect. They stop breakfast after 11am, we arrived later than that. They made an exception for my wife since she cannot eat gluten so a sandwich (pretty much the whole menu) was not in the cards for her. Thank you for that.

According to the legend, this is where the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich was invented. If you grew up around here, you know about it. If you're from somewhere else, you owe it to yourself to check it out. Don't be distracted by the brief flirtation with fame back when Dan Quayle was Vice President; focus on the tenderloin sandwiches and the sugar cream pie.

A cornerstone of Huntington tradition. If you visit and you don't have a tenderloin and sugar cream pie from Nick's, you missed out!
