Stopped here today for breakfast after reading some of the reviews on yelp. Parking was on the street which sometimes can be a pain. The place is very clean and cozy staff is friendly and started filling up fast after I sat down. Today I ordered the Country Eggs Benedict which was Eggs Benedict served with sausage patties instead of the traditional ham and sausage gravy instead of hollandaise sauce. Gotta say I did enjoy this version the biscuits were good with the sausage gravy and they gave you a good portion. The gravy was pretty thick which I like. The coffee was good and they kept you refilled. The potatoes where also very good seasoned good and cooked great! Overall I enjoyed my breakfast will be back. I think you get a good breakfast and great portions for the price. I'll be back to try other breakfast items and hopefully to try some of there lunch items. It did look like they serve dinner some nights and even had a little bar. The only thing I didn't like about this place it only had street parking which is out of there control and small unisex bathroom other than that this place is a hidden gem!

Just tried this place for the first time the other day and loved it! We both ordered omelettes - the house omelette and the ham and cheese. They were so fluffy and delicious! We definitely will be back!

I found this gem and decided to try based on yelp reviews. I had the country omelet with raisin toast. It was fabulous! The perfect amount of meat and veges and the eggs were not overcooked like a lot of other breakfast joints. My girls had the Mickey Mouse pancakes with sausage links. They both loved them, but couldn't finished because the servings were so large. The owner came to the table several times and asked how we were doing and refilled our drinks, which was nice. Overall, I would definitely eat here again next time we are in town!

Wonderful place owned by a great family that made you feel very welcome. The food was made to order and the service was impeccable. Made a bit of a drive to try this place out, but glad we did. Definitely recommend to all.

I have been going here since they opened the door and I will never stop. The Food is amazing, the pieces and fair and the staff is a delight. Ps. They make the best mimosas in town!

Love their Bloody Mary & Martini selection! The owners are very nice and always greet us. They always make sure we have a wonderful experience.

Great place! Had a delicious breakfast. We had the Roman skillet with potatoes, Italian sausage, green peppers and onions, topped with mozzarella and eggs. Very pleasant and attentive wait staff. Owner was right there servicing customers as well.

Such a nice breakfast/brunch spot. Very extensive menu, the food is DELICIOUS, the service is impeccable. I rarely write reviews but I think this place is a hidden spot that deserves much more recognition. I have nothing bad to say about this restaurant, I come here pretty often, and always enjoyed all my meals and the servers were always very nice and polite. One bad thing is that it does get pretty crowded over the weekend, but I think that just shows people's appreciation.

A friend recommending Cafe 339 and so we had breakfast there during a fast trip to NW Indiana from California. Very friendly service, the owner came over and chatted us up, he was genuinely friendly. The waitress was great and the woman who was at the cash register when we paid at the end of our meal was wonderful too. The background music was awesome and unexpected. Jazz and Greek music. Very eclectic mix. Loved it. Decent food. I had eggs, bacon, potatoes and a side order of the biscuits and gravy. The potatoes are sort of odd, not really hash browns, not really home fries, but tasty. The biscuits and gravy are good. Everything could have been just a bit warmer (temperature-wise). Coffee not bad but they only have Coffee Mate, which was disappointing. My partner had the biscuits and gravy, eggs and a side order of fruit, which she really enjoyed. Fruit was fresh and delicious. I intend to return to try some of the lunch items. Definitely the best breakfast we have had in NW Indiana.

The interior features nice furniture, tasteful decor, punched tin on the walls, excellent use of color and light. The design is very post modern hipster wine bar. The staff are very attentive, The food is tasty. And yet breakfast (tax included) is six dollars. In Hobart. So, they've taken a classy hipster cafe that belongs somewhere in Boystown, made it about 4 times cheaper, and deposited it in small town Indiana. What the hell is a place this nice doing in this tiny little town far away from anywhere? It's possible that Cafe 339 represents a toehold for the footsoldiers of gentrification. If Hobart can attract a few more businesses like this to it's "downtown", it's possible this place will at long last grow and develop into the sort of place tourists would like to visit. For the moment, this is the nicest place in town.

Food was really delish, and their cups and ketchup were made in the USA - go America! Overall, a quality place. If im in town again, i would come back.

I ate breakfast at Cafe 339 and it was good. I ordered the biscuits and gravy. It was pretty tasty, the portion was huge, and it was only $4.95. When the server brought out my food she also brought a bottle of Tapatio hot sauce to the table. I appreciated this because I always ask for hot sauce. The service was really good and there seemed to be a lot of regulars there for breakfast. I only wish they had more tea options. I was hoping to order a chai latte, but unfortunately it wasn't on the menu. They had coffee, juices, and some breakfast cocktails, but were seriously lacking in the tea department. I will definitely be back to try some other breakfast dishes.

6 adults and 1 infant were at the County Line Orchard. Standing outside the barn and looking at the huge crowd, we decided to check yelp for a nearby restaurant instead of staying for burgers or hot dogs or whatever they have. I had already eaten two or three donuts and maybe sampled a half dozen apples in the orchard. We decided to drive somewhere before heading back into the city. Yelp suggested Cafe 339 based on ratings and proximity. We arrived around 1 on a Saturday and a table was available. Our group was mixed between deciding between breakfast and lunch type fare. Prices were reasonable... almost looked so cheap compared to Chicago brunch places. They have a full bar, but my companion didn't find the Bloody Mary spicy or exciting. I ordered the Country Benedict, which was quite good. I ordered an Ice Tea which I didn't receive. I reminded the waitress when I received my meal. Thankfully it wasn't listed on the bill. Likewise, another member of my party ordered the soup of the day. It didn't arrive until we reminded the server when the main course came. Unfortunately, we should not have reminded her because she found the lemon rice soup lumpy and only ate a bite. Service was still exceptionally friendly and they were accommodating for my infant (sat in lap). We had a good time and, if in the area, would go back.

I've yet to find an item on the menu that I don't like. Everything is fantastic. My entire family loves the food and cozy feel of this cafe. The staff is very friendly and helpful too. They do just the right amount of table checks and seem to genuinely care about their customers' experience.

  • Kristy B.

Love this place! Only gave them four stars because they can stand to add some more to their menu. But their food is fantastic! Order the nutella crepes and you won't be disappointed! Atmosphere is quaint and cozy and the staff is excellent!

My boyfriend and I had a pretty regular rotation of breakfast/lunch restaurants on our days off work until we ate at Cafe 339. We've now forgotten the other restaurants and spend most of our days there. The food is excellent again and again, and we've never been disappointed with the daily specials. The staff is super friendly and we look forward to spending time with them as much as we look forward to the food. You would be a fool to drive through Hobart and not stop by Cafe 339.

  • Lindsey R.

Service was wonderful but I'm sad to say the food was way below par. There was absolutely no seasoning on anything we ate. The feta and spinach omelet was bland and the eggs florentine had canned mushrooms! This place has great potential but I won't be back to see if they reach it.

Not impressed. Sorry. To me it was just your typical diner.

Genuinely friendly service at this clean and bright family run joint. Went for breakfast with 5 and our coffee cups were never empty and we weren't rushed out after we had finished eating and sat chatting. The spinach & feta egg whites were delicious as well was the house breakfast skillet and southwest omelette. A very great addition to Main St.

When I visit Hobart, I'm always glad Cafe 339 exists-- it's a lovely little breakfast spot, with friendly service and good food-- and they take credit cards, unlike their neighbors across the street. It's good to see Hobart restaurants evolving in a modern direction. I'm extremely pleased that there is no smoking section (thank God!), and that the food is reasonably priced.

Service features extraordinary attention to detail, pleasantly and professionally attending to your every need even when they are really busy and/or short staffed. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is clean and modern, yet family friendly and comfortable. Recommend.

Exceptional. We are from out of state, and discovered this place on Yelp. The decor and cleanliness were great. The service was friendly and prompt. And the food was superb. In our hometown this quality of food and service could easily cost double!

The soups here are always amazing! And the service is second to none. My daughter enjoys the chocolate chip pancakes and I really liked the rainbow pancakes. There is something for everyone here. The ambiance is nice as well

LOVE this place ! Great prices , great quality , great atmosphere , and great service ! I'm leery of saying that because I don't want this joint to get too popular . A+

Two very large and tasty meals for $20.00. Open at 6 am for early birds. Fast friendly service.

  • Michelle S.

Great service and wonderful food. I had the country Benedict and the sausage and gravy was the best I have ever had. The service was very fast and so friendly. I think our food came faster than some drive thru breakfasts I have had. I am very critical of mimosas and this one was great. Good sparkling wine with no funny aftertaste. I highly recommend stopping for a great meal.

Loved it! Went there with my sister today. I'm vegan, so I just got a fruit plate and some coffee, but they were both delicious. The staff is also really friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back!!!

This is the "go to place" for my fiancé and I. I've never had a meal that wasn't good. The food is fresher than what you would expect from a typical diner and the staff is always friendly and courteous. We love the casual atmosphere and it's the perfect place to meet up with friends or coworkers for a lunch date. While nothing on the menu misses the mark, it should be noted that the Brickie skillet and the Cuban panini are exceptionally good. Paired with a cup of their excellent soup the Cuban may be my favorite sandwich in Hobart.

Because of a family illness, I've had to spend a lot - A LOT! - of time in Hobart recently. Cafe 339 has been one of the few bright spots of this whole experience. In the last month, I've had lunch 3 times at Cafe 339, with friends and family members. Every experience has been good. The restaurant is still bright and cheerful. The coffee is good, fresh, comes quickly, and refreshed frequently. The food tastes good. The service is efficient and friendly. And the prices are reasonable. What's not to like? And, being Hobart, you park for free on the street, nearby. And there's always plenty of parking.

This family owned and operated restaurant brings the warm and fuzzy feel of moms homemade cooked food in the form of a local mom and pops place to Hobart,IN. Whether you are from out of town or local this family will make you feel right at home.

This was a night before, random find. I grew up in Hobart, Indiana, and I remember the restaurant, Abbott's, which had been in this space previously. But I had never visited. I came back to my hometown for a visit with my family (one of which is a self proclaimed foodie) and wanted to share a great, old fashioned brunch with them. Cafe 339 was the perfect place. The food was delightful, and the staff was wonderful. We came in with a party of five and never felt like it was an inconvenience. Our coffee cups were never empty and we never had to ask for a refill. After a truly delicious breakfast, we sat and chatted for an hour and were not rushed out or asked to make space. Throughout our experience there, we met the owner/chef and had a wonderful little chat, and heard regulars welcomed with true enthusiasm. I definitely recommend the spinach and feta omelet, and when I return I will be trying the guacamole burger.

What a find. Thanks to a review on Yelp, we visited cafe 339 on one of 2 days they serve dinner. Didn't expect the quality from a small breakfast/brunch cafe in a small town like Hobart. Everything was fantistic and all homemade by the owner. There was only one dessert being served but a chocolate cake with cream cheese filling was all we needed. I am looking forward to a breakfast/brunch visit.

Found this place thanks to Yelp. Decided to give it a shot and I am so glad I did. Loved it! Seriously. Loved it. Charming and friendly staff. Delicious food. Great price. I had the eggs benedict and my friend had the pepper burger. We both enjoyed out food. I look forward to returning to try more items. What a find!

Tried this place this morning on the Yelp recommendation. It was as advertised really quaint, nice atmosphere, awesome staff. Good food. We had a fair amount of off-menu tweaks and the staff didn't skip a beat. Collectively, we tried the eggs bene, corned beef hash and apple-cinnamon waffle. Everything was well cooked and tasty. Would order all items again. I'm rating it four stars instead of five though four two reasons. The corned beef hash while tasty was clearly not house made. Likewise with the apple topping on the waffle.

  • John O.

The family and staff are very friendly. The breakfast is good but the rest of the menu is limited. Hobart needs a steak/potatoes place. Not Mex. or yuppy food.

    (3)
  • Tom J.

Hard working family. Great service. The place is always full so that should tell you something. The Cuban is incredible. One thing to keep in mind, if you are on a diet or vegetarian or vegan do not go. There is nothing for you here. The owner believes lamb is not meat. Enough said.

  • Ashley S.

Best breakfast in town. The skillets are very good. The soups are very very good. I am a big fan of the Cuban panini. Slow cooked to perfection. They also always have a really great desert selection. I'm happy that they serve alcohol now.

The food was amazing and wait staff was awesome considering how much traffic was coming through the cafe! I can't wait to go back!

  • Brittany L.

I love the atmosphere in this little restaurant and the food is not only well-priced, but also delicious. I'm traditionally a healthy eater, so I ordered the vege omelette with egg whites and fruit instead of the hash browns. Some places give you a really sad side of fruit, but the fruit on my plate was very fresh (strawberries, melon, pineapple, oranges) and it was a large serving. So I was very happy. And my coffee was always full! That's very important. :) I'd highly recommend this place to anyone.

This place is a hidden gem in downtown Hobart. $4 mimosa was not weak by any means. Attentive staff, perfectly seasoned food and very nice portions. I came here alone to treat myself to a relaxed breakfast. Mission accomplished! Modern decor, bright yet inviting and warm. I would recommend for a breakfast/brunch date. Decent menu. Better to perfect a smaller menu than to try to keep up with IHOP. Oh and the service...reminds me of when I lived overseas. They aren't forcing you put off the door, asking if you want a check. I'm a party of one blissfully enjoying my refreshed coffee now that my empty plates have been cleared. Love it!!

This place is a very excellent place to grab some breakfast with some friends or family, every time that I've been in there it is extremely busy. That must mean they're doing something right. I enjoyed the staff and how friendly the waitresses are and the food is reasonably priced. I recommend this place

We moved to Hobart in late 2006. We always like to do breakfast on the weekends with our kids and to our dismay we did not find many fun places in and around Hobart. There are, ofcourse, the chains but that is not really for us. In 2010 Cafe 339 opened and we have been going there every weekend since early 2011. The place is open 7 days a week from 6 AM til 3 PM and basically serves breakfast and lunch. The breakfast menu has lots of different omelettes and sandwiches and croissants. Lots to choose from. Wifey likes the spinach feta omelette with rosti and kids love then ham and cheese grilled croissant and pigs in a blanket. I myself like most moenu items and their home cooked specials are great. Their coffee, very imrtant to me, is Kona beans and you can taste it. Really really good coffee. This is a true family restaurant and they are truly nice kind people that i gladly bring my business to. If not too busy they mingle with the guests, always have a good story and really care about the food. The abience is a simple breakfast place, but you go there for the people and the food. Most items are between 6.95 and 7.95 and there is something for everyone. A happy customer.

Nice little breakfast/lunch spot in downtown Hobart. The pecan waffle smelled fantastic, and the taste lived up to the aroma. Mum's strawberry crepes were light-as-air, and Dad enjoyed a skillet of eggs and other goodies. My water glass was kept full by the friendly staff (and the kitschy water glasses appealed to me). Love-love-love that the restaurant is nonsmoking, and the prices were incredibly reasonable. I'll definitely be back!

Our family has dined at Cafe 339 many times and will continue to do so. They have many fresh and healthy choices. All our our family loves their food and the service is always great. To "John T", Chorizo, which is a sausage hispanics are familiar with, is a product which changes the color of the egg, it does NOT mean food was cooked in a dirty pan. You should stick McDonald's or Burger King where most of those employees which are teenagers don't wash their hands before handle your food. These people are clean and provide great service. It's sad to read a review like yours. Obviously you don't appreciate good food. Maybe you work for a competitor that put you up to writing this nasty review??? Folks, this is a good restaurant, good people! I recommend this diner 100%.

  • Kendra S.

I love this family owned diner. Their omeletes are amazing and very detailed/refined. I love the food here. The only thing I would not recommmend with the breakfast is the breakfast potatoes...nothing to write home about. Excellent service, excellent meal!
