If you want to eat at home, but you don't want to cook, I can think of no better place to head to than Amici Grill and Pizzeria on the corner of Kleinman and Ridge Road in Highland. Amici offers a great selection of sandwiches, burgers, pasta and pizza. Amici is a friendly, family run business that has been opened for about a year and a half. The prices are very affordable and you get very generous portions for your money. Great selections include Amici's Gyro sandwich, Margherita pizza, Pesto Pasta with chicken, and my favorite, the Popper Burger, which is a fire-roasted jalapeno and cream cheese stuffed burger served on a fresh pretzel roll. Amici Grill and Pizzeria offers pick-up, local delivery, and on-line ordering options. To see their full menu and other information about Amici, go to amicigrill.com .

Ummmmmm I love this place. (1) Sandwiches here are a foot long. Or more. Seriously, I have the biggest appetite in the world and could barely finish my Philly cheese steak sandwich. (2) Do you know how bread is sometimes just a thing that comes with your sandwich? Like, it's necessary, you don't really notice it, it just adds bulk? YEAH. NOT AT THIS PLACE. This bread was really flavorful, flaky on the inside, and crunchy on the outside. Aside from that, it tasted phenomenal. It kind of reminded me of the bread that's used in Vietnamese sandwiches (that's French bread too, right?). Even on the day after, the bread didn't get soggy and was still completely awesome tasting after being heated up. Places like this make me happy to be in Indiana. There's not a lot of seating inside, but if you snag a spot during dinner time around the counter, be prepared for FRIENDS episodes and the smell of deep-fried goodness. In other words, be prepared for an awesome evening.

Since Highland doesn't have too many restaurants, this is a nice option. However, when my husband and I visited two Saturdays ago, I was disappointed in the cleanliness of the dining room. The girls who worked there were gathered in the front talking, but no one was cleaning the dining room. The booster chair that we used was filthy. I had to take my wipes and clean it off myself. The area up where the staff was gathered talking together was nice and cool, but the dining room was incredibly hot. The food was okay...I felt like I could have bought the pizza at any pizza place. The pesto chicken was amazing! I'm not usually a big pesto person, but the sauce was yummy. You could tell, however, that the pasta was out of a box and not homemade. I think my biggest aggravation was that there was not a changing station for my baby in either bathroom. This is a BIG DEAL for mommies. Please consider putting one in soon.

One of the best gyros sandwiches in Northwest Indiana. The gyros meat is good quality, the pita is toasted just right, and most importantly the tzatziki sauce is excellent.

Absolutely the best in the area. Everything is made of fresh ingredients and made the old Italian World way. Family owned and operated too. Very impressed with the hospitality. We will coming again and again.

When I go to a restaurant at 5:45 pm and there is no one in the place on a Saturday night, that's a good indication of what's in store. I walked up to the door and saw a shop vac in the room and was told they were open but cleaning the floors. Sorry, not my idea of a place to eat with a shop vac running and trying to eat. This would have been my first time here. Might try at a way later date.

Went here to get carry out on the way home a couple of months ago based on reviews and were not disappointed! Their pizza was hot, lots of flavor and they did not skimp on the toppings. Crust was crispy even though we didn't eat it until we got home. And I've become addicted to their gyros pizza! Like nothing else I've had and it is not a regular item we order. We've also had their beef sandwiches and they are wonderful! Huge and packed with beef. Everything fresh. I can't wait for them to re-open after the re-model - I miss having their pizza Friday nights and we would love to eat in their new restaurant as well!

This is by far my favorite pizza place. The food is great. They use fresh ingredients from local farmers and you can tell. Try the cheese sticks, they are amazing. The margarita pizza is our favorite.

Waited an extra half hour on a takeout order because they were out of Romaine lettuce at 4:30 p.m. Had ordered two pizzas, salad, and garlic bread. Got thirsty waiting and ordered two fountain sodas. That was $3.85, and I got 11¢ back from $4 -- could not open cash register without an order so the guy scraped up four pennies from under the counter. Can't believe he didn't offer to comp the sodas or refund our salad. So, after all that, they loaded the Caesar salad with tomatoes -- where I come from, they don't put tomatoes in a Caesar salad. Skimped on the Romaine we waited for, too. Of course, by the time we got home, the pizzas had been out of the oven for about 50 minutes and were stone cold. The gyros pizza, 14" for $18.50, tasted ok, but was way overpriced for the amount of toppings. The other pizza was sausage and onion and was just bland, no flavor. Skip the pizzas, save your money, and get a sandwich. Or skip the whole thing. But if you go, be sure to count your change.

Amici never disappoints. One of the best restaurants in the area by far! The menu offers a wide variety of items from pizza to sandwiches to pasta. Some of my favorites include pesto pasta with chicken, peppery chicken pita, and the Johnny boy steak sandwich. Ahhh I have like 10 other favorites too!!!!

Sandwiches are great. Pizza is okay. Need to use more toppings and might be better. Go to place for carry out sandwiches!!

Tried it for a carry-out lunch based on recommendation of others. Portion was good-sized, but ingredients were skimpy. Tomato bread was overcooked and didn't look appetizing.

Really great carryout food here. We really love their pizza and ham and cheese hoagies. Prices are reasonable and they're crazy fast at making food. Give them a try.

I really enjoy this place. The owners are very nice. The grub is great, but be careful what you order as the serving sizes tend to be large. I enjoy sitting inside up on the tall stools, eating my grub and chatting with the staff.

Umm ok, I'm definitely a fan. They ain't lying when they keep it real with fresh ingredients. Me and my Mom ordered pasta, she had the Pesto pasta with chicken and I had the Penne Marinara with cheesy garlic bread. Ok I'm not gonna BS with you, I was very jealous on what my Mom got. My dish was decent. But the Pesto pasta, "Marone!" (The Sopranos language for the word meaning Damn It, sometimes pronounced "ma don") I kept picking my Moms plate till she went into another room to finish her food, lol. It was delicious! When I was waiting for my food to be freshly made, they took out 2 giant sized pizzas out the oven. The smell of the Margherita pizza and a sausage pizza filled the room with deliciousness, my mouth started to water. So yea, when I come back I'm definitely trying their pizza and I'm a pizza lover so it didn't help when I saw some advertising on the counter about some Pizza Palooza event happening in Highland on May 13th, I was thinking to myself "Omg, has my dreams come true about a pizza fest being made near me..."

This place serves Americanized Italian, almost fast-food style. The food was OK - I had the tomato and artichoke pasta with a side of garlic knots. Not bad, but not particularly memorable either. The woman behind the counter we ordered from and the waitress who brought us our food were not friendly. You order and pay at the counter, bus your own table, and eat using plasticware. For the price, I was expecting better.

LOVE this place! Finally a good local location for fast food that's not fast food! I moved to Highland about 5 years ago when Romano's was around. I was a fan of the drive in - but not a fan of the food. Thank you Amici - They really do "keep it real". Fresh ingredients, good food, what more can you ask for? Their margherita pizza and hoagies are thee best!

Nice place. Good food at a good price. Good is high quality and the fries are awesome. My wife had the lettuce wrap. It was nice that they had that as an option. A nice replacement to the old Ramanos pizza.

Everything I've ever had here has been great! The salmon burger is my favorite, though it can be a little messy to eat sometimes (so worth it). I'm not a crazy pizza person, but I absolutely love their pizzas! Same thing goes with their pasta. Yum. Never been disappointed so, two thumbs up!

Pretty average. Wait time was normal. Crust was a little doughy but fresh ingredients. There were no waitresses or anyone else to bus or refill drinks which might have been nice considering they had 5 or 6 people working there. Probably will try else where next time I want pizza.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Greek Cuisine

Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.

Today, you can find hundreds of restaurants offering authentic Greek food or popularly termed as Mediterranean cuisine in New York city alone. People wait in line to taste the exotic Greek dishes like saganaki, taramasalata, souvlaki, loukoumades, spanakopita, moussaka, and many more. One thing which most people like about these authentic Greek dishes is abundant use of lemon juice, olive oil, fresh rosemary and sea salt. A smart mix of few ingredients can virtually take you on the pebble streets of beautiful city of Greece.

For those who don't have time to enjoy fine dining should try tasting the famous souvlaki with pita which is type of meat dish, also a trademark Greek fast food. For those who are vegetarian, or vegan can try different versions of Greek Salad. So, if you wish to enjoy a hearty yet healthy meal that tastes divine then try dining at the best Greek restaurant in your city. Greek cuisine not only tastes good but also help maintain your body in a natural way through healthy diet.
