We just went back two weeks later, everything still super, the cook at this establishment does a great job. This time we had guacamole, green enchiladas, and fajitas, and it was all outstanding. Server offered to refill the chips and salsa and was very prompt with the bill. We had a cozy booth this time instead of the big table by the window. They seem to have fixed the doorbell and music issue. We noticed they sell ice cream across the street by the bike trail, maybe we'll ride our bikes there next time.

I love being able to support local businesses... and this one is a gem. It was lunchtime and my handsome husband wanted some good eats. Mmm... it was so good! He got the pastor sopes and I got the chilaquiles with skirt steak. Umm... droolworthy. I mean... so good. Have I said that before? ^_~ So... they're in the need for more wait staff. If you're looking to get in and get out you should try this place when you have more time. It was obvious he was doing his best but he was just one man. I'm looking forward to changing my review to FIVE stars once this is situated. Ladies!! The bathroom was immaculate. This is such a big deal for me... especially in restaurants. It's pretty and it's clean and it smells good. Bonus.

It just open and they are working out the kitchen and wait staff but you can tell they are trying hard. Went in on a Saturday night and it was busy. I wrote my name and the number of people to be seated. No biggie. The wait staffed helped out each other trying to get drinks and food orders. It took awhile for the food to come out however they didn't charge for the drinks which was a few beers and bottles of soda. The food... Well I will be back again for more! The green salsa was great I am a big fan and its hard to find a place to have a good verde salsa. The red one was good too. The steak was cooked perfect not burnt or dried out. The menu is not the normal Mexican restaurant there is other things on it that most restaurants don't have. Prices are a little higher than most Mexican places. I will go back in a few weeks when they are staffed better because the food was well worth the wait.

Decided to give this place a try on Friday 10/17/2014. While waiting in the lobby/entryway we over heard 3 couples complaining about lack of wait staff to the hostess. Once seated our waitress was attentive however 2 out of the 5 of us received the wrong meals. I ordered a steak dish and received a combo meal instead and My son ordered tamales and received poblano peppers stuffed with cheese. Will not be back! UPDATE my credit was double charged by this restaurant. When I contacted them they do not want to issue a refund, they want to give me a gift card for the restaurant so now I have to issue a dispute with my CC company. Stay away from this place!!!!

Went out tonight to try a new local place and hide from the chain restaurants. I read the other reviews here and we didn't experience any of the service issues. Food came out hot, quickly, and no mistakes. The waitress was really friendly and attentive. They had a couple providing background music that was just barely too loud, but she had a beautiful voice. The food was pretty good but not fantastic, not oversalted, so I knew it didn't come out of a can. The rice was done well, not dry at all, one of my Mexican restaurant tests. All in all very good, I would come back again!

Second time here... have to agree with the bulk of these reviews. The wait staff was not very attentive. They came out, took our order, the meal was late in coming, but when we were trying to leave, no one was around to pay. We asked to hostess for the check and she went into the back to find our waitress, but she seemed to get lost in the back too. Finally after asking once again, now the bartender, we got the check.... but they all retreated again into the back again. Nobody came back for our credit card. Very frustrating to have to wait forever to pay.

Rey Agave in Griffith,In. The absolute WORST place for a restaurant I can remember going to! All these people that have put in reviews stating how great it is must love white castles as a top-notch restaurant! The only thing I didn't have to do here was right my order down and cook the food. Had to clean our table ourselves to sit down to eat ordered our drinks after sitting for 20 minutes never even got water we asked for she came back another 20 minutes later to tell us they couldn't make the drink I ordered after they told me they could? A Cadillac margarita and they don't know how to make it and this was the second time I've been there with the same result? The so-called food was as bad as the service was lucky that I even got a fraction of the steak I ordered had to move all the other crap to find the 2oz. of steak I got. They charged $14 for this? And it was cold. ZERO SERVICE! How this place stays open is beyond me because I have heard the same exact thing from everyone I've talked to that has went to this dive! AND THEY DON'T CARE AT ALL!!!

Just visited last night, 12/20/14. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The food was awesome. My husband had a steak burrito and I had a barbacoa taco dinner. The steak was properly seasoned and wasn't covered in salt to hide the lack of flavor like some other places do. It was also NOT greasy and the taste reminded me of a trip I took to Mexico. I live so close to this place, I should've visited sooner. Delicious and authentic.

My husband and I decided to try Rey Agave, and our experience was poor from the moment we walked in the door. The hostess who took our name had no idea what was going on and couldn't give us an estimate of how long we might be waiting to get a table. When my husband asked her how many people were ahead of us on the list, she told him there was only one couple ahead of us. But as it turns out, we were 4th on the list and we ended up waiting much longer than expected for a table. When we finally sat down, our waitress (who barely spoke English enough to take our order) was unattentative to say the least. We had asked for a highchair for our 2 year old daughter, to which we were told they didn't have any available (they only had 1 in the restaurant). We ordered our food, 2 adult meals and a kids meal. We waited nearly an hour before any food even came out to us, and even then it was only 1 of our meals and it was far from hot. We informed the waitress that this is not acceptable and we would like to pay for the drinks we had and leave. And she disappeared for another 5 minutes before we just left enough cash on the table to cover our drink from the bar and left. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. If you are thinking about trying it, DON'T. And seriously, what restaurant only has 1 high chair and expects their patrons to eat with their kids on their laps?

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
