Somethin’s Perkin

Reviews:
about every small town has one and unless you're a local or ask around you can't find the local mom and pop places that is the best. Somethin's Perkin is a coffee bar/sandwich shop/soup/church. Yeah I know that last one threw you off. This place also is a church. Located in the back they actually meet it looks like and have services. But don't let that throw you off. This place has hands down the BEST lobster bisque I have ever eaten, and I am a connoisseur. Every place I go to if they have lobster bisque on the menu it's automatically ordered, and every time they are always compared to this little place. And they all fall short. I'll talk about other things. They have plenty of other great soups here too, and great sandwiches they toast and get all hot and melty. Plus have a decent coffee bar ( though this seems like a more less prominent part of the whole place) If you're ever in Greensburg you're most likely never going near downtown but it's only 5 min off of 46 and 3 so make sure you hit the square and come to this place I call home. You won't regret it.

I've been coming here since they opened and they haven't disappointed yet. Full delicious buffet with everything you could want. I would like if the General So chicken was spicer....I guess that goes for everything on the buffet but it's all still good. What makes the Great Wall special is the Mongolian BBQ. I live that I can get a pork chip or a steak cooked any way I like it. Their selection of toppings is pretty good for a smaller buffet. Service is about what you would expect from a buffet. They clear my dirty plates and bring refills. That's about all I ask from a server at a buffet

Delicious diner food!!! I love their Rice Krispie treat flurry so much! I will go out of my way to get it!
Clean restaurant and personable staff. They keep their red catsup bottles in the fridge!!! Not on the tables all day long at room temperature turning to vinegar... Nice touch. I swear their Point burger has 50% less grease than those major fast food establishments. Their grilled tenderloin is also very good. French fries are large crinkle cut not greasy, mushy overly salted or fried to leather strips like some places that fry their product ahead. Very extensive menu for a small restaurant. Fish, beef, pork, chicken, salads. Order the way you want it. Good value. Their milkshakes alone are worth the stop! Easy access from I-74 down Michigan Road coming from Indy. From Cincy take the bypass 3 exit south and turn left at the BP onto Michigan rd. You are almost there. Greensburg is a small town... :-)
So finally got the chance to come back here. It was great! I got the Italian Melt which was shredded beef, onions and mushrooms on a french roll w/melted mozzarella and tomato sauce. To go along with it, I got the Bacon & Cheese Waffle Fries. They were really good: fried just right with the bacon and cheese in 2 separate containers so you could dip first in melty cheese and then bacon! I finished off the meal w/a Chocolate Peanut Butter Malt! I was so full and very happy. If you're passing Greensburg on the way to somewhere, take some time out to stop in here. Their menu is ginormous and the food is tasty.

Wow. I live in Dallas and there isn't an Indonesian restaurant in the entire DFW metroplex. Here I am just south of Indianapolis for a conference, and a legit Indonesian restaurant pops up on yelp in small town Greensburg, IN. I grew up in Indonesia and will do a lot for a taste of authentic Indonesian food, so I was thrilled when my husband agreed to swing by and we got to stop for dinner. It was amazing. We had some Indonesian staples: beef rendang, gado gado with chicken satay, and soto ayam. It was SO good, and our favorite was the soto ayam, which is chicken soup, but unlike any chicken soup you've ever had by American standards. The flavors are complex and, well, you should try it. Maya, the owner (who is Indonesian), came out the chat with us, and she and her daughter were bubbly and delightful. She's pouring her heart into the place and she loves to cook. The restaurant is cozy, decorated with some traditional Indonesian decor, and located right in the heart of Greensburg (they probably have no idea how lucky they are). Because I'm tired of never finding Indonesian food around, let me briefly advocate for the style and tell you should try it. Mayasari some pan-Asian options like sushi and shabu-shabu that Americans might know more about, but even just ordering the Indonesian-style fried rice would be a great idea. Indonesian food is similar to Thai or Chinese, so you won't be too far out of your comfort zone. Indonesian food uses a lot of peanut sauce and some particular spices that make it stand out. Maya told me she makes her own hot sauce (sambal), but most things won't come really spicy unless you specify that that's how you want it.
Great food with very friendly owners, both of which are welcoming and helpful. A gem in the heart of Greensburg.
Umm... All I can say is wow! The food is phenomenal. Probably some of the best food I've ever had in my entire life ;) The staff/owner are so friendly as well. They can also cater to any food allergy/sensitivities if you need. The mango tea was amazing and the lamb so tasty. Everything was perfect!

Reviews:
Traveling from Cincinnati back home to Avon, IN we looked for a place in Greensburg. With all the five star reviews on Yelp we couldn't pass it up. As soon as you open the door I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. The smokey delicious smell let you know you were one for something special. Pulled pork is almost always my go to BBQ meal but as I saw a tray of the baby baby ribs I knew that was my choice. We each ordered the baby back rib combo. I also had to try the smoked chicken wings. A pound of ribs was way more than I could handle but I happily ate them the next day for lunch. For once left overs didn't get tossed. The ribs were meaty, tender and smokey. The sauce came on the side and I had one of the cream sauces. It was so differently delicious - such nice change from regular. The chicken wings were to die for. In fact I think an order of wings and some slaw would be a perfect meal. And if moth watering delicious food isn't enough to make a restaurant a success the service is top notch. There was one goal amongst everyone there - make sure you walked out the door wanting to come back. And let me tell you. We will be back.
Stopped by for lunch on the way from Cincy to Indy. The location right on the town square is very quaint small town Americana (in a charming, not run down way). The dining area is fairly small, decor walks a good balance between modern and BBQ. Large screen TVs keep guys and kids entertained. You order at the counter. Choice of pulled pork, brisket or chicken. Six BBQ sauces ("Kansas City..." In most names). Baskets, sandwiches and bulk takeout. I was torn between cheesy grits (sample was delicious) and a smoked potato (smoked for 4 hours - where else will you find something like that? My basket consisted of a large smoked potato piled high with baked beans, pulled pork with sweet BBQ sauce and cheese. Delicious! All subtle smokiness and brown sugar sweetness. Sweet tea just the right flavor to cool down the spices. By the time I was done with just half of my spud, there was no room for desert, otherwise would have sampled the six flavors of ice cream served.
Stopped in for a quick lunch on the way to Cincinnati and were quite pleased with the food. We were quickly greeted and asked if we had ever eaten here before. When we said no we were given a quick rundown of the menu. The menu is handwritten on dry erase boards and slightly difficult to follow so the guidance was definitely helpful. I would highly recommend the pulled pork sandwich topped with cole slaw. The Mac and cheese had a lot of flavor and tasted much better than ii had assumed based on its appearance. The baked beans and other sides we tried were also very good. I thought the prices were fair for the large portions and considering you can't get fast food for under $20 these days that's right around what our lunch for two cost here. I would definitely return to Carriage on the Square when passing through Greensburg.

One of the best fast food resturants in greensburg. The manager is super friendly and knows how to run a fast food restaurant. The rest of the crew is always on it. Never have to wait. And the place is always clean.
Super friendly staff and clean restaurant. As for the food, its Arby's ad I think they all taste the same. I love the beef and cheddar :-)

Best chicken you can find. Coleslaw is great as well. Love to go here when we go home. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves fried chicken.
Some of the best chicken ever. Their sides aren't great, but they get 5 stars for their chicken and cheap beer. Go early for dinner or you'll wait a long time.
I am always looking for really good fried chicken. When someone told me about "some little place in Enochsburg that has great chicken," I knew I needed to drive there and try it for myself. It took about 45 minutes to drive there from Columbus and I had very high hopes for The Fireside Inn. When we found it, there were cars everywhere and I assumed that meant that it was really good food. After eating there, I now assume that there are no other restaurants within 100 miles of there. We had to wait about 10 minutes to get seated...no problem. The four of us were shown to the table and we ordered Iced Tea and some fried green beans. Then we ordered a whole chicken, some chicken tenders and the cod dinner. I felt sorry for the one who ordered the cod. It was about an inch thick and about two inches square. There were three pieces. Very greasy and heavy. The fried chicken was greasy, but other than that it was okay. I would even say it was the best part of the meal. The green beans were bland, the mashed potatoes were bland, and the french fries were cold and old. The server was very nice and attentive. When I paid the $44 check, I had to go to the bar and wait in line for the bartender to collect money from three people ahead of me. It was just a poorly thought out system. On the way home, I felt like I had been taken. I had such high hopes driving there and then I felt so let down driving home. And I had spent $44 plus a $10 tip, and a 1/4 of a tank of gas to drive there and back. It is still painful thinking about it. If I am going to drive that far, I'll drive on into Oldenburg and get some really good chicken. Don't waste your time or your gas on the Fireside Inn.

Tired of fast food drive thru windows? The same old food in a hurry? Not what you'll find at the locally owed A&W. Fast car service during the lunch break brings me in along with Double Bacon Cheese Burger. A real treat for the family is their great fried chicken. Might be the best in town but figure on 20-30 minutes on an order. Faster on Thursday when it's the special but worth the wait anytime. A&W is know far and wide for their root beer so give it a try. Personal I don't care for the frosted mugs so the to go cup is a must.
I spent my youth in Greensburg and one of my fondest memories is of going to the A&W. When I return to Greensburg to visit family I always try to stop by. I agree with other posters that the fried chicken is definitely worth the wait. It is great to show my children what a 50s style drive in is really like
10/27/14. Might be the last summer-like day for the year. So a road trip was the order of the day. This fantastic throw-back drive-inn was the best. Just great hamburgers and dogs. What more can I say!!!. We drove from the Cincinnati area, because Cinci has NOTHING like this. Worth the 1hr drive. The local folks seem to support this very well. They were busy. I had been here before, but that was like 10 years ago. Alway's said" We need to try this again". So this was the day. These are the places I support!!!!! Can't stand that place with the clown, and the other so called "fast food" junk!!!!! Really worth the stop.

Awesome pizza for a decent price. They are usually the cheapest pizza in town aside from Dominos. I have... on occasion... waited a long time for my pizza, but they are always courteous about it and I don't mind and I just don't give them a tip.
