I'm a sucker for a good pastry. I've stopped by this little latin american supply house off and on for 6 years. I can't seem to get past the pastry shelves at the front of the store - so this review is ONLY for the pastries. Someday I'll get around to the grocery items. It was a rainy Saturday morning and I decided to pick up some fresh international pastries to go with the copious amounts of coffee I'll be swilling today instead of cruising on the party barge this cold May weekend. Damn you Mother Nature, why have you forsaken me?! I crave the sun and the water - and a charcoal grill. Bah! I don't know the names of any of the fresh selections - I just grab a tray and wax papers and start picking. My wife complains (a bit) that the mexican pastries aren't as sweet as the standard gringo pastries. Yet, I find the most delicate ones are very complex - crispy, light, sweet... I've had a few I wouldn't choose again but the counter gal is helpful in conveying what flavors are present. I even grabbed a sweet empanada that I ate on the way back to the car. I'll be going back - I'll get some of the ones that look like crushed footballs next time - she said they are sweet cinnamon!
