This place is really cute! The neon lights and the walk-up windows allow this quaint little restaurant to attract it's long lines and respected reviews. The thing that makes Polly freeze awesome though is the tons of different types of ice cream you can get there! Plus the tons of picnic tables that they have sitting underneath the shade trees allow for families friends and coworkers to sit and chat while they eat outside on a nice day. The food is pretty great as well! My only complaint is is that the service does take quite a while. For example I called in a pick up order the other day and expected it to be ready when I got there having left 20 minutes after ordering it. However, whenever I arrived they had not even started on my food yet. So I had to wait 20 more minutes or more for my food to get done. Luckily the weather was so nice! However my hunger at the time was making me very "hangry"!

The big deal here is the vibe. Sitting in the shade of a big old tree, slurping down the sugary, empty calories of something cold and fattening is the absolute best way to spend an hour in the middle of July. The ice cream (soft serve) is good but pretty standard compared to any other soft serve. The portions and prices are fair. The service is quick and friendly. It'd be nice to know where the restrooms are, though, for the lactose intolerant among us. You know, just in case.

Our family has visited the Poly Freeze several times. I think what makes this place special is the atmosphere. We enjoy our yogurt at the picnic tables under the shade trees in a large grassy area.

Not being native to the area, I do not have the nostalgia for Polly's that many seem to bubble over with, though I have come to enjoy an opportunity to go. Nestled up in the Knobs on the side of the road, Polly's has never not been bustling when I've visited. The atmosphere is more of a mountain diner on a curvy, Western road than something one finds in Southern Indiana. There are typically a handful of motorcycles and roadsters sprinkled amongst the more traditional transportation and a wide swath of people to match. I've only had a couple of items on the food menu. The fish sandwich is satisfactory, but the chicken simply tastes like salt. There's a reason it is called "Polly's Freeze" and not "Polly's Grill." The food isn't why you visit. You visit for the frozen deliciousness. The wide array or treats is amazing and can be overwhelming. There is most certainly something for anyone. Inside the small building, the service hums like a frantic beehive. There are just about as many people packed into that building as I think you can legally allow and each that I've dealt with is friendly, but seemingly near exhaustion. You will likely wait for your order, but there are certainly worse places to wait than this idyllic setting.

They have the best BBQ sandwiches and ice cream. The staff is friendly. Be prepared to stand in line. It's a popular place on a hot summer evening.

Great family place. Good food, good ice cream. All seating is outdoors and expect a line no matter when you go. Well worth the trip.

If you have been to southern Indiana and not visited Polly freeze, you are wrong. This is an institution, a tradition and ALWAYS satiffactory. I will put on a coat to sit and shiver while I eat my ice cream, just for the feeling of being transported back to summers visiting my grandparents and making the trip for an upside-down sundae or a frozen banana. The ice cream is always amazing, the service friendly and the atmosphere nostalgic. Do yourself a favor and drive down. Tasty goodness is in store for you!

I will make this to the point. I went to this place on a motorycle ride with one of my good friends and let me tell you. First of all, I can not eat that much ice cream because.....lets just say my wife does not appreciate it, however, this place has the best ice cream I have ever had. Second, it has an awesome location. If you are looking for a nice Sunday with the family, out with friends on your bike, or getting down solo this place is just awesome. Last......this place is just down right good!

My family recently visited here. We had the fish sandwiches and onion rings. They were delicious. It was a little slow but well worth the wait. At least you know you are getting freshly cooked food instead of something that has been sitting under a heating lamp. The staff was also super friendly.

I have always loved Polly's I have been coming for years and loved bringing my kids here as well. I am disappointed and so sad to say once the new owners took over it has gone down hill. The ice cream is still amazing I have never had an issue with anything I have got and highly recommend pollys for ice cream. However the employees and service have gone down I always get a grilled chicken sandwich once it was so rubbery I couldn't eat it they fixed it with no issue. They won't give napkins unless you ask and even then will only give one unless you ask for more with the kids one napkin doesn't help especially when I'm getting more then one thing of ice cream to begin with. I have always got my kids a small ice cream in a cup and get an extra cup to spit the ice cream up between my kids they won't eat an entire one their self. The new owners make me pay for the extra cup once I learned that I made sure to always ask for it when I ordered. One time I did and when I got to the window my extra cup wasn't given to me so I asked for it the manager came up to the window and in a rude tone said 'you have to pay for one' I said 'I know that's why I asked for it when I ordered' she looked at my receipt and said its not on here no you didn't I told her 'yes I did you need to speak to your employees on how to ring things up not blame me' she then slammed the cup on the counter and said next time you have to pay for it. Because we all love pollys I tried them again and asked for the same thing at the counter this time when I picked up the ice cream it was in a cone I told the girl 'that was supposed to be in a cup and I need an extra cup' she told me ' I know you wanted a cup also I'm getting it' I told her I need the ice cream in a cup and an extra cup I don't want the cone' she said In a rude way ' I know I'm getting you your extra cup' and handed me the cone and the extra cup. I again explained what I wanted she left obviously mad and came back with two full cups of ice cream and told me next time I have to pay for the extra ice cream cause I am getting an entire cup free. I told her AGAIN I don't want two cups of ice cream I want one and I split it between my kids she then again in a rude way said 'I know you are getting two cups of ice cream and only paying for one' I left upset and frustrated cause I don't understand why she is telling me I am getting a cup for free I only wanted one and wanted to split that one in an extra cup. I am so disappointed cause we really do love pollys and love to keep a local place going but the new owners don't seem to love its customers or treat them the right way. I'm sure I will go back cause my kids love it and so do I but I tell people my frustration over the change. I really hope this changes cause if you want to keep customers happy you need to treat them with respect.

This is an old school ice cream place. With rolling hills, lots of green space and plenty of picnic tables this is a great place to take your kids for an inexpensive dinner and let them run around outside. I don't know for sure, but this seems like the sort of ice cream place that closes for the winter...all of the food is passed through the windows to the customers outside the building while the staff works inside. People say this place uses to be better. I don't know how that is possible. They make some (maybe all) of their own ice cream. They have great fried food and burgers. Unless you are on a diet this place is 'da shiz!

This place is great! I have been going here for 25 years usually when I go visit my grandma in Lanesville. It is in the middle of nowhere yet can still get pretty crowded. The food / ice cream is what has kept me coming back. I don't have a staple I get but last time I got a peanut butter and marshmallow shake and it was really good!

One of my favorite places! We had bbq, fries, onion rings, and a fried chicken sandwich. It was great as always! Make sure you get a shake or a sherbet (that changes often)! The price may be a little expensive but I promise it is worth it...especially when it's only open a few months a year...go there...NOW!

I'll jump right in here and say the food we had was beyond terrible. I swear the hamburgers were made out of mystery meat pounded to 1/100th of an inch thick and cooked until the patty turned green. Completely tasteless. Obviously they are frozen and made at a factory in some third world country. The fries were ok, nothing special. Now, the banana pineapple milkshakes were fantastic. We should have guessed that by all of the land whales in line for ice cream items. Another concern you should have is the slooooooow service. People are in line here all the time. When they are open, there is a line. Now the line isn't because there are a thousand customers; it's because they are very slow in filling orders. Overall, I'd stop for a shake if I was driving by and there wasn't a line. I drive by everyday though, and I've never "not" seen a line at the pick up window. Watch the traffic pulling in and out, people are not watching the road.

I have to say the people that work there are very friendly and it definitely has that southern Indiana hospitality feel that you really can't get any where else in the country. Also the land that its on is very nice and there is plenty of tables and benches to sit out and enjoy your ice cream. The dairy, lets just say if you had to go to a baseball game and wanted to see all of your favorite players at once this place is like that when it comes to they dairy selection. They have EVERYTHING. I have also not had any ice cream here that id don't like. Definitely should try their waffle cones that they make in house, these things are excellent. There is also so many different options to make your very own mouth watering dessert. On the food side its just okay. if you are looking for a snack to go along with your ice ream and to maybe break up that sweet flavor then i would get something. Other then that I wouldn't want to come here for just the food. The food definitely isn't something to right home about but when it comes the dairy I would recommend this place to anyone.

This ice cream/grill shop has been around for more than 50 years! It's an institution in the Georgetown area. Shakes, sodas, malts, sundaes & ice cream by the scoop, either in a cup or a cone. On the grill, u can get chicken & hamburgers (Pollyburger). Although I didn't have them on my visit, the onion rings looked delicious! Food items are average, it's the history & ambience that you are going for here, and that counts for one of the 4 stars!

This place captures an atmosphere that newer places spend big money to try and capture (but don't!). Visiting this place is like entering a time capsule and stepping back in time. The food is typical of such places... burgers, fries, chicken/fish sandwiches, onion rings, etc. The dairy selection may just be the biggest I have ever seen... anywhere! My personal fav is the blueberry frozen yogurt cone made with real blueberries... it is incredible! There must literally be 500 ways to temp your frozen sweet tooth here! There is only outdoor seating, take notice of the weather before heading over. Orders are placed and received at windows that are not protected from the elements. The only downside is the parking and seating can easily fill up. And be prepared to stand in a long line. (Of course, if there are that many people waiting, it must be good!) Your best bet, for a first time visit, would be to not visit during lunch or dinner rushes. I live in the south end of Louisville, and I enjoy Polly's Freeze enough to make the short trip a few times each summer.
