It was clean and the staff was nice but the sea food pasta is way over priced. It might be a lot of food but the flavor just isn't there.. Could have ate at Buffalo Wild Wings twice for the same price

Awful. The food is waaaay overpriced. I had "Wild caught salmon." It came as two small salmon "filets" on a big plate with nothing else, the presentation was that they crisscrossed the filets. I have never seen white meat salmon filets. Clearly processed and right out of the Gordons box and cooked to dehydration with no seasoning, prison food basically for $19. The onion rings were thinly sliced and overwhelmed with some type of tasteless batter, pancake mix maybe? The waitress confirmed that the mac & cheese was right out of the Kraft box. It took well over a half hour to get our food and the waitress never came back to get us more drinks, I had to ask the guy walking around if we could get another round. Dirty, no atmosphere. I had never heard of this place before and now I know why.

This restaurant has had the same look since I was 15....I am now 54. It is disgusting inside and very dark. The food...I would not feed to my dog. The pizza was probably the best thing going for them, when we walked in all they we're serving was just that...oh and grinders. They said that the help was sick while I was watching the owner sit at the bar drinking and socializing. The funny thing is we keep going back occasionally hoping for a change....shame on us. Sadly it sits on beautiful Lake George and you can't even view the lake from the bar! WHERE ARE YOU RESTAURANT RESTORATION.

We had dinner there on May 30,2015. I ordered a filet. When it came out it definitely was not a filet. I told the server that it was a ribeye and that filets were not that shape and did not have that much fat. She said she would have manager come over and not to eat it. 15mins go by and no manager. I started to eat when she finally came. She was not friendly and after another discussion finally said she would take $6 off. Never once apologize d for anything. Our server, who was excellent, came with the bill apologized. The manager came up and rudely interrupted her and said "you have a two top table to go wait on". We have never seen such a rude person. Our bill was $130 and we will not go back or recommend.

Good food and good atmosphere! The coconut shrimp is awesome. Big portions so you don't leave hungary. The service was very good in the bar area. A little bit for everyone.

We went to the Retreat on a Thursday night to see a duo we like (see Robbie V & Heidi review) and had blast! The entrance to the Retreat is a bit confusing. Enter the lounge at street level and walk down a flight of stairs or walk down a flight of stairs and enter the dining room - they are next to each other. The dining room is probably fun in the summer as it faces the lake. We chose the bar which is dark and casual. The tables and chairs are unmatched and beat up - perfect bar atmosphere! The food was good. My steak with mushrooms, onions and Gorgonzola was a bit too smothered and the potato wasn't great as it was wrapped in foil and soggy. My friends chose sandwiches and said they were good. Everyone raved about the onion rings but I was less than impressed. The batter had too much of a flour taste and was not brown and crispy. The queso cheese spread was spicy and smooth and delicious. We returned the next night and had a much better food experience. The Sicilian pizza, served with marinara sauce on the side was outstanding. The vegetables were fresh and the bacon (I had it sans chicken) was a nice touch. Steve had the strip steak and enjoyed it. The fries - ask for them well done - were the best I have had. The chef spent a lot of time in the dining room and seemed very interested in the patrons experience. The service was delightful. The waitresses were attractive and attentive. We ate at the bar the second night and the bartender was friendly. We met several of the regulars and really enjoyed ourselves. The Retreat is a delightful spot and on our list of must visit when we visit this area.

Please call Kitchen Nightmare or Bar Rescue! This place needs serious help, not only a remodel but a whole new staff & attitude are needed. We went to watch a Colts game & had the rudest waitress in the world. The owner just let's it go on & on & on,if it were my biz she would have been fired in the spot. Food was the worst & way to big proportions, such a waste. This ones Off our list for good!

The Lake George Retreat is a very interesting place thats one of our favorites when at the lake. You can't judge this book by its cover. It doesn't look like much from the outside or the inside but the food is truly outstanding!! The prices reflect the huge portions and high quality of food. Servers are are always friendly and knowledgeable but the kitchen can be a bit slow. Doesn't matter, because the food is worth the wait!! My favs are the Gorgonzola covered salmon and the handmade onion rings!! Delicious!!!

Went to the Retreat for a salad after reading the menu on Yelp. The staff was very helpful and convinced me to try the Ribeye dinner. I had it with the mushroom wine port sauce. It was done to perfection. The side salad was little small, but the blue cheese dressing was great. I watched the sun go down over the lake while eating, great experience.

The food and service couldn't come close to matching the beautiful view of Lake George and the dated, yet charming decor. The menu was extensive and like another reviewer noted, that can signal bad things to come. Service was slow and the food bland and mediocre at best. One person in our party got a perfectly cooked New York strip that had no seasoning whatsoever. Two of us got one of the specials which was panko crusted perch. The fish was cooked, but it too lacked seasoning and wasn't golden and crispy as fried food should be. The salads were ok. On a positive note, the prices were reasonable, if not downright cheap. I'm sure some people would have no qualms with the quality, but if you're expecting a fine dining experience, stay away

Dreadful experience. We had a very large party for dinner, so we called ahead. The woman on the phone said they'd have room for us at 8pm (an hour-and-a-half from the time we called). It was a bit long to wait, and the place had a menu I'd normally stay away from because it had just about anything you can think of (in my experience more variety means less quality). In this case, though, variety was a plus, because our family has everything from vegetarians to teenagers who claim to be allergic to vegetables. So we decided to wait. We showed up at 8pm, waited 20 minutes, and watched 3 parties of 3-4 get seated. The staff studiously avoided us, and then, when the man who seemed to be in charge finally had to deal with us, he said "we never would have said come at (a specific time) because we don't take reservations" and that we would have to wait at least another hour to be seated. We didn't get an apology for our trouble, no other suggestions, just a rude 'tude that said effectively "forget you" (to paraphrase CeeLo Green!). So instead we went for excellent pizza, salads and sandwiches from Bubba's Pizza, just down the road, and took the food to some picnic tables next to a lake -- Bubba's saved what had been a disappointing evening and turned it into a delightful family meal. You can do much better than the Lake George Retreat.
