Oh how I miss Ritters! When I lived a few blocks from there I would walk there almost every Wednesday evening in warm months to enjoy one of the flavors of the day. It was great, I could take my dog with me and enjoy my frozen custard as I sat at one of their many outdoor tables.

This is the original Ritters. It is a wonderful place to get good frozen custard. Their glaciers are great. Thick as can be. A wonderful stop on a hot summer day. A bit pricey, but oh so good.

When I want dessert, Ritter's is typically my top choice. And when I eat at Ritter's, I like to visit the original here in Franklin. Their frozen custard is delicious and they have some great flavors. I doesn't get much better than this.

Ummmmmm...... Amazing!!!! My favorite ice cream (custard) ever!!!! You can't go wrong with their smooth custard- it's delicious! You have to try a fudge sundae, at minimum..... Fantastico!!!

I'm literally eating their Peanut Butter Sundae as we speak and I'm pretty sure the gates of heaven just opened up. It's amazing and I highly recommend it. Anyways, about this joint, I've been coming here for about 6 years and this service is always great and the custard heavenly. I started coming when I was in college and I can't quit now, it's addicting! A plus is, that there are always coupons in the newspaper or in mailers, and the food is super affordable anyways so it doesn't break the bank. They switch custard flavors every day so the variety is great. They also have a really cute drip factor sign that informs patrons of the weather (love it!). For any dog lovers, be sure and check out when their pet night is. Fido wants a scoop of custard too! I literally can think of nothing bad to say about this place. Great for all ages and obviously perfect for summer!

The best thing about this particular Ritters, is that this is the one where it all started. The Ritters family still help run this awesome establishment. Many of the menu items such as the Grizzly Cub Special that are available at other Ritters, all got there start here. In summary here it goes, Ritters makes INCREDIBLE frozen custard. They are loaded with options and Ritters really makes a great commitment to the local community. The constantly run fundraisers for organizations such as the Run for Rex 5-K, Breast Cancer, and more over the constantly are looking to help locals out who are trying to raise funds in times crisis. They also have a doggie days outreach where they have special deals on frozen custard for dogs. All in all, I would love to dowse this review with jokes and puns. I simply can't however. The business is ran to well for me to come up with anything beyond praise for the business. BTW, they even run a small rag tag WiffleBall league to which i have had the privilege to sub in. To cool.

If you like soft-serve but haven't tried "FROZEN CUSTARD" yet, you are in for a treat. Don't let the name trick you into wondering what this product actually is (I feared for years LOL). This is ultra-premium soft-serve ice cream. Super-smooth, and very thick, but not whipped with air like most ice creams are. A touch of pasteurized egg yolk allows for less milk fat than is normally used, which makes it a healthier delight. I believe this is why it is called custard (contains egg). I used to make the ice cream at the original Strawberry Hill Ice Cream shop behind Lafayette Square (Indianapolis) in the early 1980s. Being familiar with making their premium ice cream (18% butterfat), Ritter's custard is an amazing feat at only 10%. My personal favorite is the Strawberry Sundae, but it's ALL excellent. Any warm evening there is a line, standing room only!!! If you have never been here, you should know that they have outdoor seating on umbrella tables/benches, and the line is outside (walk-up). They make custard at each blue building, fresh there. Not trucked in or stale! You can buy pints or quarts as well as the usual made-in-plain-sight parlor treats, ice cream cakes for parties, and chocolate coated custard-on-a-stick/custard-cookie-sandwich-on-a-stick.

Even though I'm an IU fan, I always get the Boilermaker (without the nuts).
