Amazing as always. I think this is a much better choice than Yats. Drunken chicken (aka- Datwich) is always a solid choice, So much flavor you don't know what to do besides keep eating. The staff is on point as always. A great choice if you're looking for something new.

So I stopped in for a peak. They were not crowded, I walked in and got some suggestions from the counter dude. I see they have a deal for $2 more then the entre you can pick two entres. So I took the crawfish ettifey and the red beans and rice bowl. I am a big guy and it filled me up with a good yummy meal with a drink for under $12. The do have several hot sauces to add more heat but the standard was real good. I believe it's the best your gonna find around Indy. Stop in if ya are in fishers. The traffic is a issue. I would recommend after 7 pm for less traffic issues.

Nice addition to the Taylor's Bakery/McCalister's Deli plaza. A bunch of brochures from J Gumbo's had been dropped off at our office and thought I would give it a try today. Simple enough menu and easy to understand what you are getting. There are several appetizer options (dips and nachos), big bowl entrees (gumbo, jambalaya, chicken) over rice with bread, and Po Boys (mostly chicken). No shrimp anywhere on the menu (there is crawfish) which is kind of disappointing. Only two people working so definitely a bit slow (owner/partner running the register, other guy in the kitchen) Food came out relatively quick though for lunch. Went with the jambalaya and it was alright. I personally thought there was too much rice and not enough sausage, chicken, etc. The side of bread didn't have the buttery addictiveness like you get at Yats but was still very tasty. They give out FlockTag cards...checked online and 11th entree is free. Soooooo yeah. Probably a 3.5 star experience and round up for a new place. I would like to come back and try a Po Boy next time.

Very tasty! As a lover of all things cajun, J Gumbo's was definitely a yummy little treat from our boss for lunch. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and the options are easy to understand (sometimes cajun menus can be intimidating...not here!) If you're looking for something different, full of flavor, and outside the box, this is the stop for you!

A great alternative to some of the other creole places in town, I think that J. Gumbo's is probably comes closest to the stereotypical New Orleans food in terms of flavor and spice. Unlike some places, J.Gumbo's food actually has a nice kick to it. A flavorful blend of spices and seasoning, the etouffee is a great blend of rice, crawfish, in a creamy sauce. The inside is decorated in a Mardi Gras theme, and has plenty of room for bigger crowds. Hopefully, more people will discover this place as it is nice to have a range of restaurants to try on the north side.

That's three strikes, J Gumbo's. When they first opened, my son and I got sick. I had good luck with the J Gumbo's in Evansville, so I decided to give it another try tonight. After an abnormally long wait, the first bite revealed rank chicken. I dry heaved, and took it to the counter for a refund. It's almost as if the reviews so far are from friends of the business. No one gets 5, 5.0 reviews on yelp anymore, after being opened a couple months.

Great service. Love the drunken chicken. Everything is good though. Portion size will fill you up and I can have a hunger.

4th visit to J Gumbo's and as usual great food and great service. This place is amazingly clean. I ordered the Gumbo and had them add some Mud Bugs. For you rookies that means Crawfish. I had a cold when I arrived and a stuffy head after one bowl my head was clear as a bell. This stuff should be bottled and sold as Flu & Cold medicine. Looking forward to my next visit to J Gumbo's.

Have now eaten here a couple of times and it is excellent. Portions are large and very tasty. Real bowls are a nice touch. Great friendly service and diverse menu. Better than YATS in my opinion, and I've eaten there for years. Great to have this in Fishers. Give it a try and you will not be dissappointed.

This place is great! Much like Yats but with a better menu and much bigger portions. I recommend the drunken chicken and buffalo chicken. Food was spicy and flavorful. Service was excellent and they will let you try samples. They also have sandwiches. The portions are enough to feed two people if you aren't very hungry. I will return!!

This place is leagues better than yats. Better options. Fresher ingredients. If you want to try something that will rock your world get the bumblebee stew and the bourbon chicken. Alone the are alright but together the flavors really rise to greatness. The bread is good too. The price is great. For $7 I basically get two meals.

Crawfish étouffée and the jambalaya. Service was quick and friendly. I don't to go as far as being called "sir," but the counter fellow was a little heavy on the "bro" and "dude" talk. The étouffée had a good spicy kick to it. Crawfish was meaty and seemed fresh enough. White rice was firm and not overcooked. The jambalaya was well seasoned, with good portions of chicken and sausage. It came out room temp, with some of the heavier pieces of chicken cold (as if it had been refrigerated and not sufficiently warmed. Overall good experience. We'd go back.

Had the special, chilli cheese shrimp etouffee, it was very good, portion size was good for the money, shrimp were larger than I expected, they had additional hot sauces including the spicy garlic always a hit in my book, great place to get your Cajun fix on. Decor provided a feel of New Orleans. Can't wait to go back.

We were really saddened when Gumbo-A-Go-Go closed at 86th and Ditch but delighted to find it re emerged as J Gumbos in Fishers. I can only speak to the Drunken Chicken and VooDoo or perhaps VooDoo Chicken. We usually order the Drunken Chicken. It has the right amount of spice and although they have several good hot sauces to choose from I never use them. I have this as a sandwich although it is available over rice. The VooDoo is quite hot and I like it very spicy. I would not recommend it to someone who does not care for very spicy-flavorful food. I much prefer J Gumbos to Yats. Much better and more flavorful food.

Love this place! A little spicier than Yats. Every bit as good, just different. It's our new neighborhood favorite. Do yourself a favor and get the Drunken Chicken. So good!

I really enjoy cajun food from when I lived in TN (where I was introduced to it). I had their basic etouffee. It was a big serving and very tasty. I thought this was better than Yatz in Indy which I also enjoy. Glad to have another place to find my favorite cajun dish. Now I just need to find a place that serves alligator tale in Indy.

Really enjoy this place. I've been there twice since it opened and both times the Owner who was working the register was awesome. I have Celiac Disease (no I'm not doing Gluten Free as a fad) and the Owner let me know that his wife does as well. Makes me feel quite a bit more comfortable that he'll take the extra precaution with the food! I've had the same thing both times the Bumble Bee Stew and Jambalaya. They both are amazing. The BB at Yats was one of my favorite things but here it is even better. The corn is much sweeter and plumper than what it is at Yats, I found myself actually saying mmmm out loud with each bite. As far as the Jambalaya goes it is wonderful as well. Nice big hunks of chicken and sausage and very flavorful. My wife had the chili cheese etoufee and said it was great as well, the size and quantity of crawfish was impressive! While I can't eat the bread my wife, after taking a bite said you are going to hate me but this Bread is better than Yats (before I found out about Celiac we used to go to Yats regularly and I loved the bread!) The food here is served in real bowls and as I mentioned above the Owner who has rung me up both times I've visited is really nice. I'm lucky that this place is within walking distance of my home/office and have a feeling that I'll be visiting quite often.

Nice Cajun dishes - I had spicy chicken over rice with a good selection of hot sauces to add. Definitely a pleasing quick meal. Efficiently and pleasantly served, 'Boss'.

Great alternative to Yats and especially if you're looking for a good poboy. Really friendly staff and is very clean. Recommend the drunken chicken - bread is fantastic!

Food is good. I liked that they invite you to have a sample of their food before you make your decision. I got a bowl and was full, portions are generous. The bread was fresh and soft, I would have preferred more garlic flavor to it but it is still good. I would definitely come back and recommend it.
