Went here today with some family. Extremely disappointed. Bathroom situation is disgusting. It smelled like an outhouse. The smell permeated the entire place. Ordered the flautas and the meat was nearly non-existent. What neat was there was dry and not good. I generally don't do this but I can't believe that this is the best Evansville has to offer for Mexican food.

Best Mexican place in Evansville hands down! Huge plates filled to the edge. Chips and Salsa to your table right when you are seated. Can't beat this seven dollar lunch.

Great food. plenty of it. If you leave and your still hungry, it's your own fault. not bad service for as many people who were there.

This place had amazing food and service! However, their margaritas were terrible. I got the chicken fajitas, and they were amazing! Not only was the chicken and peppers delicious, but it was a huge portion (and only $10)! I had plenty to take home, and it was just as good the next day. My boyfriend got the spicy chicken monster burrito, which was also really good! It was big enough that we took home half of it. The margaritas were the only bad part about the place. We got them on the rocks, and they were green and were too limey, not like regular margs, which are almost more lemony. Terrible. Don't get the margaritas, but definitely get the fajitas!!

You will be hard-pressed to find a better value for lunch than what El Charro provides for $7 (tax included). They have a menu with over two dozen lunch choices that span the Mexican food favorites that you are used to. To boot, a soft drink (including iced tea) is included with your $7 meal. Oh yes, you get complimentary chips and salsa too. Joseph, the owner, is there every day to take care of you, should you need anything. He's quite professional and customer service focused. Give El Charro a try. It's worth your $7.

Not the best yet not terrible. Usually the chips there have a burnt taste and their quesadillas taste more like grilled cheeses but the price is where it's at. The Burrito Jalisco is gigantic and tasty and most of their food seems all around healthier tasting than its main competitors. I've never had a bad service there.

Food is pretty good, service is great. But the dishes are a bit simple, no mole or molcajete.

I've eaten here multiple times and I really wanted to like this place but all the food is somewhat below average. Margaritas were pre-mixed and just so-so. Service is good and Staff was very nice. This is OK if you've run out of other places to eat in E-vil.

Here's how I rate Mexican food restaurants. I give the restaurant one star per category that's done well. 1. Chips --Temperature (chips should be served hot) --Flavor (no artificial flavors, please!) 2. Salsa Green, red, mango, whatever. Runny tomato sauce = unacceptable 3. Tortillas Nothing beats homemade!!! 4. Fajita Meat IS IT MARINATED? I can't stand cardboard fajita beef and chicken!! 5. Extras How're the beans, cheese, and guac?

Yesterday I went there for the first time and really enjoyed it. I liked how they seemed to have a separate lunch and dinner menu so that you actually aren't confused as to which one you should be ordering off of. They have everything any Mexican restaurant does, but seem to have their own takes on it. I had the huevos con chorrizo and it was DELICIOUS. one thing I didn't like were the chips--they seemed sort of airy and made with old oil, even though they were very fresh. However, overall I had a great experience! Yummy

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
