We stopped in on a Saturday to order a basic cake and Renee came out to talk to us. She told us that they were booked for the Saturday (2 weeks away) in question - which was fine. Then she asked what I was looking for and told us that she could only take the order if I spent at least $150 and also followed up with the comment "I don't mean to sound rude" Sorry Renee that was rude and a horrible business move from a small business owner! If you are booked, you are booked. No big deal. But don't dangle a price tag over someone's head who has frequented your shop since you opened. Your creations may be wonderful, but that is only one part of a successful business model.

I am so sad I didn't know about this place before now! I had always wished that there was a wonderful little dessert place near me and am so happy there is! I took my 2 sons today and we got a sampling of some of the items. The red velvet cupcake was delicious, not chemically like some and the cream cheese frosting was amazing! I also tried the Napoleon and really really wish I had bought another one. The only thing I didn't care that much for was the cream puff, it wasn't sweet enough for me :) This place could be dangerous for me, I'm glad that they are not too close to my house and that they close at 6 or I would be there way too much!

Macaroons have been haunting me for weeks. I originally saw a picture of some on Facebook from a blogger I follow, but they were all the way in downtown Chicago. Then they started advertising them around Valentine's Day on Sirius XM. One of those, give us $100 and we'll send you a box of them. I felt like it was sort of my dessert destiny to try one of these things, so I searched for them and actually found that Dessert Menu was the closest macaroon shop that wouldn't require braving the traffic of Chicago. It only took one day off of work, sitting around with nothing to do to decide that I would make the drive and finally fulfill my destiny. I ordered a Key Lime tart ($4) and a box of assorted macaroons ($1 each). The Key Lime tart tasted exactly like a mini- key lime pie. The crust was flaky, the custard had the perfect amount of lime, and the whipped cream on top gave it the perfect final touch. The macaroons were also just as delicious. The cherry ones were my favorite but they were all really good. I liked how the shell was crunchy but the middle of it was soft and light. It's safe to say I'm now a macaroon addict! The customer service was also really great. It's always nice to feel appreciated at a business and the girl at the counter did a great job of making me feel welcomed. Dessert Menu had tons and tons of desserts that all looked equally phenomenal and it wasn't easy to decide. I know I'll be coming back within the next few weeks to try a few more desserts: I'm hooked!

I was working in the area one day and realized I bookmarked this place. It only made sense to head over for a treat. The shop is beautiful on the inside. There are tables for enjoying your treats as well. It would be a perfect place to meet a girlfriend and chat over coffee and sweets. I ordered a lemon tart, brown sugar tart, 6 macaroons (strawberry, cherry and passion fruit) and a coffee. Everything was delicious. I have to admit. Before this day I had never actually eaten a macaroon. So I can't honestly say if they are "the best". I'm not even sure what they should be like. I can say my plan was to share these treats and the box never made it out of my house. The tarts were perfect! They also have gelato, cupcakes and other various treats that all looked amazing. I rushed out of there before I ordered anything else though. Service was really friendly. She took the time to explain everything to me. It looks like they do beautiful things for weddings too. I did feel like it was a bit pricey, but I guess for the quality I can't really complain. $4 per tart and $1 per macaroon. Maybe that is average? I will be back though. I'm just hoping these macaroons are low in calories? Wishful thinking.

I love this place! Their cupcakes have the perfect level of moistness and the buttercream is excellent - not at all sickly sweet like most places. My other favorite thing here is the croissants. Perfect buttery flakiness. To die for.

A big smile stretches across my face as I cross the threshold into Dessert Menu. An intimate little place with a delicious selection of desserts and baked goods . Try the cream puffs, or take the whole chocolate cake if it's on display. I've had gelato in Italy and here you can taste the same without the 12,000 mile journey. Of course you won't find the Pieta here. The staff is pleasant , helpful and pretty..

I used Dessert Menu for my wedding cake 4/20/13. The customer service, quality and results were top notch! I had so many comments from my guests at how good the cake tasted. I was so happy with the way the cake came out (decorated, tasted, etc). I definitely recommend Dessert Menu for a wedding cake! I will also use them in the future for other cake/dessert needs:)

I would like to update my original review and change my star rating down to a 1 due to the apparently continued harassment from the owner, Renee. After posting this review, which is below, I was asked to take down my review because I was ruining their 5 star rating. My apologies; however, as most people that review on yelp, I write positive and negative reviews. This was based on my experience and I will not take my review down. The added comment by the owner Renee to my review attempts to take credibility away from my review, by apparently stalking my other reviews and taking what she wants from them to attempt to make me less credible. I assure I take all my reviews seriously and write them based on my experience. I encourage Renee to concentrate on her business, take her focus off me and as a small business owner, learn to take criticism and not to harass helpers who leave less than stellar reviews. My original review: Not impressed at all. We went here on a recommendation from a friend when looking for our wedding cake. When I set up the tasting on the phone, I specified I wanted to try red velvet, white and lemon. When we got there, they brought out a plate of little cut out chunks of cake, and they weren't the flavors we talked about. On the phone, she stressed how the cake was made fresh that am.. So dry and not good. We still tried to give the benefit of the doubt and with talking to her, she was nice and gave us a quote on the price bc my design was "so intricate." She said she would email a sketch and I never received it. A few weeks later went to Strongbow in valpo... They quoted me $200 less and were so nice! They gave us a 6" round to take home from the tasting and said my design was super simple etc. I would not get my cake here- overpriced and the cake is not good.

Stopped in here because the Chicago Foodie Sisters recommended this place. I'm glad that I listened. Very delicious . Started off by trying a basic chocolate cupcake. The frosting was so amazing. It almost melted right on your tongue. I then moved on to trying every macaroon flavor they had displayed. SO DELICIOUS! I'm glad that I stopped in because it was definetly worth it.

Dessert Menu did my daughter's baby shower. Loved, loved, loved it. Every thing tasted great and I would have them again for any kind of family celebration.

I love this place!! Their macaroons are highly addicting, esp the passion fruit ones. Their croissants and tarts are equally delish!!!

An authentic patisserie in Dyer, Indiana! Save your Dunkin' Donuts money and support this culinary gift to the region. Dessert Menu features various croissants (chocolate, spinach-ricotta, ham and swiss), eclairs, liege waffles, tarts, cookies, scones, gelato, sorbet and more. Everything on offer is artisanal and expertly hand-crafted with high-quality ingredients. The chefs behind the counter are very friendly, helpfully explaining the different pastries and offering generous samples. As one of the chefs said to me when trying to describe the taste of the macarons (not the familiar coconut macaroons), "you just have to try one!" This goes for everything on the Dessert Menu.
