Ordered brisket plate with spicy sauce, scalloped potatoes and baked beans. The good: Um...the sauce was so-so. Hardly spicy, but then again this isn't Mexico. Cheap prices for what is typically charged for *average* bbq. The bad: Dude. Memphis style, seriously? When did they stop using SMOKE and RUB for bbq in Memphis? Brisket completely lacked any flavor. No rub, no smoke, and it was overly watery as if it was cooked in a crock pot. Scalloped potatoes were complete mush, I honestly couldn't make out any individual slices of potato. Baked beans tasted out of a can with onion and bacon added.

I love the food here and the fact that Connersville has finally has another dining option available. The BBQ is excellent; as Levi pointed out, the spicy sauce isn't super hot, but it is very flavorful. My issues are (1) the restaurant is tiny and stuffy. I hope their success helps them relocate to a roomier place. (2) The waitresses are typically pretty young but they're getting more competent. When it's busy, the atmosphere gets a little ... stressful. With the lack of square footage, you as a customer get to be a little too close to the action.

Day out with Thomas- saw this across street. We were pleasantly surprised!! The food was basic choices, but very tasty. The service was spectacular, esp considering the influx of people from the event. I would come back to town just to eat here!

Very impressed after 2 visits here. I've had the pulled pork and brisket. Both had good flavor and not dried out. Sides are very good also. I love their mac and cheese. Service has been spotty, but forgiving due to it being newly opened. Also the ribs and half or whole chicken isnt available til 5pm. Glad that another family run restaurant has opened in this community! Closed Monday and Tuesday. Wed-Sat 11am to 9pm Sun 11am to 6pm

Honestly, BBQ is not my favorite style restaurant as I always prefer our home cooked. However Rip's has changed my mind. The pulled pork is lean and well seasoned as is the pulled chicken. Delicious sauces homemade by the owner who has food management/chef experience. Their sides are homemade as well not provided by a supplier. Potato salad is fresh with just the right texture. Baked beans have a sweet smokey taste complimented by pineapple and bacon. Excellent. You leave well satisfied and easy on the pocket.
