I have been to The Savory Swine a handful of times and each experience has been good. I love that they have peppadews, as those are my favorite snack! Additionally, I enjoy the different wines they carry. So many good ones that can be hard to find elsewhere. Most of all, the staff is always helpful and knowledgeable and happy to help which is a huge deal to me.

The first thing I did when we moved to Indiana is look for a local butcher shop. We're not huge meat eaters but when we do it has to be great quality. The Savory Swine is hands down the best place for meat. We actually eat a lot more meat because of this place. The staff is friendly too. Never a long wait. My only suggestion to the staff is to recommend different cuts. Maybe even print out recipes and put them in the bag.

The Savory Swine is many things, and surprisingly they do them all well. It's a fantastic butcher shop, a great place to grab a sandwich (I highly recommend the roast beef sandwich), and a great wine shop...combined with the best ice cream/gelato in Columbus. It also has a small gourmet shop with a nice selection of cheeses and specialty meats, as well as fresh breads and crackers. On a recent visit my husband and I stopped in for a sandwich and deli lunch, followed by a delicious gelato dessert...and we were able to buy Tri-Tip and shrimp for dinner. Talk about one-stop shopping! Everything is spotlessly clean and well designed. Seating is abundant and well placed. It's a great place to bring a small gathering of people to enjoy good food or a bit of wine. Columbus is lucky to have The Savory Swine, it is definitely worth a visit for a sandwich, wine, meat, ice cream, or all four!

Can't add much to the previous two reviews: the Savory Swine is the real deal and home to lots of nommy and fresh (raw & deli meat and deli cheese) proteins to turn into even more nommy dishes at home. The wine selections are better than one might expect in Simmons / Huber / Brown County Winery territory. Gelato. Not the best I've had, but head and shoulders better than anything you're going to find elsewhere in the town that Cummins built. These folks know what they're doing, whether it's well-butchered cuts of meat (or other cook or finish-at-home items), deli, deli sammies, and miscellania. For their acumen stocking, staffing, and envisioning a great addition to Columbus, though, they lose a star in their publicity / marketing / "being a business"-ness. No discernable menu...no "we put effort into combining our offerings in a really fabulous way and want to share what we learned about the best of what we do & have" and entice people to turn up to enjoy it, because we think we've got our shit together and have a selection of freaking awesome MENU items that are so awesome that when you hear about them, you'll turn up, That's a bummer. Also, relying (apparently, exclusively) on facebook for marketing. Yeah. Um... No.

Great sandwiches - the meat was flavorful and the foccacia bread that it was on was fresh. The interior of this butchery was immaculately clean and high-end. A great place for a tasty lunchtime sandwich if you're doing the Columbus, Indiana architecture tour.

(Somewhat) new, high-end, specialty shop, a real first in Columbus, think 'Goose The Market' from Indianapolis transplanted here, by no means a negative parallel to make. Excellent selection of fresh butcher-shop meats, other specialty meats, cheeses, great small but growing wine selection, and other miscellaneous specialty goods. Also offers light food during weekday lunch hours, wine by the glass or bottle, and special events. Forgot about the gelato, which is in fact the real deal, and comes in ~10 flavors, but does not come cheap. The butcher counter, ran by Skip, is pretty great, and has a full selection you would expect and more, the pre-made specialty burger patties are great for parties, tenderloin steaks and filets are amazing ($23 and $27 respectively), but I would recommend the NY strips above all. There is usually a fish selection of tuna, halibut, and sea bass, have had all three and they are good, would suggest getting the still frozen ones as the ones in the counter are just those thawed out. Fish may not be 'fresh' flown in but for Indiana is pretty damn good, the flash freezing works quite well. Overall a gem of a place in a small town and we will see how it progresses and evolves in the future, I would look forward to an expanding selection of groceries and maybe some dry foods (beans, grains, ect..) Only suggestion would be for them to maybe move the dog biscuits from infront of the near 30 dollar steaks, this bothers me although maybe just on a subconscious level. Also forgot they are now selling baked goods from Scholars Inn Bakehouse in Bloomington.

The hubs and I visit here often. THE best sandwiches at lunch or wine and cheese app before dinner. It's just the cutest place in downtown Columbus. We also love to pick up fresh meat from here to grill out at home. And, if you accidentally leave your meat there because your enjoying your wine, they'll save it for you (not that we know from experience ). Equally awesome is their homemade gelato (recommend the Almond Joy) or fun events like cooking classes and wine tastings. Staff is super friendly, and being open 7 days a week is convenient too. We love this place.
