I am indifferent about this Steak n Shake. The food is always fresh and delicous, although service and cleanliness are often not as great. The drive thru - 9 times out of 10 is a complete waste of time.

It always seems slow in this place and they never seem to have enough workers regardless of the time of day. Ketchup bottles on the tables always feel greasy like they've never been cleaned and are usually near empty or totally empty. When you are waiting you can see the kitchen staff cooking 20-30 burgers every few minutes or so, so my only guess is that they serve the drive through guests first off the grill and make the dining room guests wait. Ordering a shake? Add 20 min to your visit.

Lunch service was fast and friendly. Non-fast food is always my preference for lunch, but it isn't always an option. We were seated, got our food, and were back in the car within 20 minutes.

I wish I would have read the reviews before taking my family here last weekend. While we were quick to be seated I instantly noticed the dirty tables and floors, which obviously have not been cleaned all day. People who walked in behind us had to wait a long time, over 10 minutes, to be seated despite there being open tables. We ordered our drinks and food at the same time, which were promptly brought to us along with the bill. That was the last time we saw our waitress. No refills and we couldn't order our milkshakes. The burgers tasted good, but were haphazardly thrown together and just piled on the plate. Just an observation: the fellow with the "Manager" name tag was acting as the hostess, bringing drinks out to tables, and also running the counter where you pay. The place was obviously understaffed, and the staff who were there did not seem to care about quality. To finish my review... I wanted one of the famous milkshakes despite our bad service inside so we left and went through the drive through. That was a big mistake. There were only a few cars ahead of us but we were trapped there for the better part of half an hour. When we were finally given our 4 milk shakes, the two caramel-apple shakes had caramel slopped all over the outside of the cups. My Heath shake only had Heath candy in the top 1/3rd or so, the rest was just plain vanilla. I won't be returning here anytime soon!

Don't come here if you are in any kind of hurry. Good classics like vanilla coke, but slow kitchen, perpetually new wait staff, and pretty much filthy dining room and restrooms. Come if you are looking for cheap food. You get what you pay for.

We just tried to eat at this place. We stood at the front for about 10 minutes. The waitresses avoided eye contact and the manager ignored us. We finally left since no one would seat us. The couple behind us also left. Taking our money elsewhere. And just to say there were plenty of empty tables.

I have been coming here for a long time. Good food at a good price. However, the last couple of times the place was filthy. The booths had dirt on them. The floor was dirty and the restroom was really in bad shape. Come on S&S.... clean up your act. I want to come and eat there again but am reluctant until the place gets a thorough scrubbing down.

I went here with my nieces and we were seated right away on a Saturday night. The waiter didnt come over for at least 5 minutes and then took our drink orders. My niece noticed there was gunk and liquid under our table and we told a passing waitress about it who then told our waiter. He came right over and cleaned it up. We ordered our food and it came out ok. I wasnt expecting much since it is fast food. When it was time for our check, one of my nieces ordered fries to go and he brought her a to go box empty. We had to wait for him to come back and told him fries should be in it. He did not for the fries.

Horrible horrible and more horrible. Rude from start at drive thru. Misinformed on ingredients in Shake that later was an issue. Waited for 15 minutes to pay for after placing order. Then told no one to make shakes pull around front. We waited for twenty more minutes finally got shakes, with syrup, whatever else dripping off star foam cups. The napkins were throw at us and we were told "yea you'll have to wipe them off". Ah... No actually that's your job. I paid you to hand me my napkins with my shake in a clean cup. Then we taste our shakes two of three were mixed wrong. Then my husband went in the store to ask what again supposed to be in shakes for ingredients, no one knew so he had to wait for manager, when manager came after he waited another 12 minutes while she stayed on phone arguing with a employee that never showed up for work. The manager said yes it's a Carmel Shake but butterscotch goes in it. My husband knew better but was DONE! He had listen for 12 minutes to a young girl at cashier register complaining how the place ran, how the drive thru always missed up, the drive thru sucked, how bad they always miss up shakes, etc. So me well we only go there less than 10 times a year guess we can just knock those 10 out. Oh and husband while in store notice dirty tables, food everywhere where customers sit, behind the counter was just as bad. When husband return he thru his shake away told me mine was butterscotch and they never offered to fix either one just sit there and lied so they didn't have to remix because they had no employee doing shakes. Get this, waiters and waitresses while not working on tables inside would eventually wait on people or customers at the drive thru. So $12 later, two missed shakes, BAD service, my ending note.... NOT WORTH GOING!!!!!!!!

Its either good service or bad, never great. I just love the chili and food so much Ill keep coming back. Rarely is my food wrong or cold but there have been times. Its very cheap though and kids eat free on weekends.

Waited 10 mins to be seated. Took forever to order. Another 25 mins we had to leave. Still no food. No chance of a refill either. Nichole was waitress. She should be fired for horrible service. Lost my business forever.

I love Steak 'n Shake and try to go to them when I see one Because I do not have them back at home (Sioux city ia)...I will NEVER return to this particular one again...Not friendly employees what so ever! Lady that seated us didn't even say a hi or welcome just asked how many there were and then when she took us to the table, the little place mats they have, she sits them on top of the menus and walks away instead of setting them out like other steak n shakes I have been to do....then the waitress comes and still no hi or welcome...gives us a few mins to order and when we give her our order and comes back NOT what we ordered! That was my drawing point right there! I walked out! Manager needs to reevaluate the employees!

Been here a few times but have never written a review. This place has great decent priced food of course but the service is horrible! Walk in everyone just glances at you. They never come and greet you. They never rush to do Anything. Don't expect a quick Meal.

It was a bit difficult to get into probably because I didn't know the area well and it was dark (I missed the entrance and had to go the interstate service road and back to Eastern and Lewis & Clark and then turn into a shopping mall entrance). That aside, it was great food as usual after a night of off track betting. Service was cordial and prompt despite it being very busy. California steak burger meal was very good and lots of condiments with sandwich and sides. Ordered a cup of chili but got a bowl (larger), no complaint.

The food is better quality than McDonalds/Wendy's type places, but with waiter service, lower prices, and lots of shake/dessert choices. It's pretty great as a late dinner after some manner of evening group outing. It'd be nice if they had wider coverage of the country.

Remember when you were 21, coming home hungry from a night of dancing and was not in the mood for Denny's. Well this absolutely hit the spot. The cheesy fries are to die for and the burgers are decent. The service is pretty nonexistent, so the drive thru is a better option.
