The pulled pork sandwiches, the homemade pie, the rustic (ridiculous) atmosphere...all fantastic. My friends and I stumbled upon this place by getting lost. What a wonderful treat! The food is fantastic, the waitress was amazing, and the decorated walls certainly give you something to talk about while waiting for the food. Also, the pig statue out front provides a great opportunity for silly road trip photos. I suggest you don't miss out. We'll have to get "lost" at Smokey's again sometime soon. Yum.

Drove past this place a hundred times, in the middle of nothing, finally stopped. Tried the pulled pork & brisket with coleslaw & roasted potatoes, everything was amazing! Best BBQ in the area hands down. Can't wait to try the ribs. Bring $ they do not take credit. Only 3 mins off of the highway!

Stopped here on our way from Detroit to Chicago, a little Gem of a place! Great beef brisket and Jamie was nice too! It was cool to see Kid Rock had stopped in and enjoyed Smokeys too!

What a nice little place. The food was great and the atmosphere was very laid back. Traveled from central Ohio and this was a pleasant surprise. You have to see the restroom while there, very cool. Remember that they only take cash.

Lived nearby this little gem my entire life and never tried it until last night. I'm sure to be a regular from now on! Pulled pork and sweet BBQ sauce were fantastic. Portion size was more than enough to fill me up. The lady working the counter was extremely friendly and helpful. If you've never tried this place, you definitely should!

This place has the best BBQ around. A quaint little shack nestled midway between Michigan City and the steel mills. It may be a little out of the way but it is worth the extra gas to go there. The pulled pork sandwiches are about $5 and are good-sized. One is enough to fill me up. If you think you'll still be hungry, I suggest getting a side of their garlic, butter, and chive red potatoes. They're delicious. One thing to beware of after you finish eating though: the owner (presumably) and waitress will attempt to entice you into getting dessert by saying that there's "only one slice left". I get the same line every time I go there. It's kind of humorous. Don't get me wrong, their pie was good and I would say to try it if you aren't full. I highly recommend giving this place a try. Everyone I've taken there has liked it.

Very good southern BBQ and awesome Cole slaw in an adorable atmosphere and an outhouse indoors;), definitely would stop again.

The food here is really good, and the ambiance is something special. Forget all those wannabe chains- this is the real thing. Pulled pork, Cajun style sides, homemade cake for dessert. Everything is made here, the smoker out back is running all the time.

This little place we happened on when the tollway was backed up. If you are anywhere near here pull off and get some of the best BBQ. We has brisket sandwiches that we cooked perfect and melted in our mouth. Usual disappointment with barbecue places is the coleslaw that they make. Not here it is absolutely amazing and fits a sandwich perfectly in. Paragraph I think the most important part is to make sure that you get here before they sell out of pi some of the best around.

Bring cash. No credit cards. I always ask for sauce on the side. Seems too sloppy when I don't. Love the steak sandwich. The chives potatoes are great choice for your side.

WHEN it's actually open, and food is in stock it's pretty tasty. Unfortunately they close whenever they want, so hours posted aren't always accurate. CALL AHEAD! Last time I called for a chicken sandwich (which are delicious by the way) they said they ran out the night before and hadn't even started smoking them yet. My opinion, show up early and get some cooked for the lunch hour!

Fantastic little bbq joint.. Well done interior dining room, prob seats 20 max. Carry out seemed brisk. Jumbo pulled pork sandwich was huge and awesome. Sauces on table as well which is nice. Very reasonable prices for good bbq!

Driving past and being hungry, my friend and I decided to stop in here for a quick bite of BBQ. It's a tiny place with a lot of goofy things on the wall. But definitely a homey kind of place. As far as the food goes, it's definitely southern-style BBQ. I got the pulled pork sandwich which came out very juicy compared to what you end up getting in lots of places. They brought out two different BBQ sauces, the first was a sweeter, vinegar based one, and the second was a spicier one (although not too hot). Great sandwich and the normal size was plenty big (they also have a jumbo). My friend got the steak sandwich, and she was quite happy with it as well.

We eat at Smokey's so much that we don't need a menu and the waitress knows what we want when we walk in. She just has to ask my husband if he is having the pulled port plate or sandwich because he changes all the time. She brings the drinks to us as we are sitting down. Love the pulled pork and all of the different homemade BBQ sauces to put on them. All of the sides are homemade and the potato salad is to die for. I have been trying to make it at home and have given up. I'll just eat it at Smokey's. I still haven't gotten to dessert because I am always stuffed after I eat. The portions are big. We love the cozy little building and the friendly service. There are only 5 or 6 tables and everyone ends up talking to everyone. We are glad we discovered Smokey's.

I wish I could have loved this place. It is super cute and small and the decor is one of a kind. Unfortunately I can not say the same for the food. My husband ordered the rib tips and the server said they were not ready yet. Strange to think a BBQ joint doesn't have their rib tips ready, especially when it is 6:30 pm and they close in 30 minutes, but that's a story for another paragraph. We both had the pulled pork plate and it was good, but nothing to brag about. Let's talk drinks. They don't sell beer, so I hope you aren't looking to throw back a cold one with your BBQ. They also charge over 2 bucks for a tea with no free refills. It's safe to assume that it is probably Nestea straight from the...who knows. If you still think you want to go here, make sure to go early as they close at 7pm every night they are open. Save yourself a disappointing dinner or lunch and head over to Wagner's instead. Sorry, like I said, I wanted to love it.
