This place is AMAZING! We met up with some family from Cincinnati here (we are from Indy) for a Christmas brunch. The venue is awesome! The inside is rustic, unique, and antique. The food was great! It is all local and was prepared great. The service was good, a little slow, but we were not in a hurry so nothing to complain about. They had bottomless Bloody Mary's which was a plus! Santa was there and they did a great job of decorating for Christmas! Planning to go back next year!

Went back for a special occasion with a large-ish party, and the entire experience was amazing. Service was among the best any of us had experienced, and everything we ordered was delicious. Wishing them much, much continued success.

This is truly one of the best restaurants in the Southeast Indiana and Western Cincinnati area. They recently opened so you can tell that some of the staff is still learning a few things but overall I have had nothing but good experiences thus far the times I have been there for lunch, dinner and evening drinks. First of all, the food is great. Some items are a bit pricy, but overall you should expect a pleasant experience. I understand that the chef and his staff make their own bread for the sandwiches and burgers they serve, so that adds freshness to an already great recipe of ingredients in sandwiches. All sandwiches also come with house made cole slaw that looks and tastes a bit more like a salad than cole slaw. I like it but some people have told me they are indifferent to it, so I guess its one of those things that you have to try for yourself. Walhill has a baked ham and cheese sandwich that is accented by fig and appricot chutney - it is awesome! - I have never had anything like it and I highly recommend it for lunch. Their buffalo burger and house "Walhill" burger are seasoned and prepared extremely well. The burgers are juicy and perfectly seasoned. The only item in the menu I have not been completely bought into is the chicken caprese sandwich. It is basically a grilled chicken sandwich with italian herbs. All sandwiches are served with house made chips which is an excellent blend of potatoes, yucca, sweet potato and sometimes taro. As far as dinner dishes, their braised rabbit is one of the best I've ever tasted. They also have Elk medallions and much more that I can't wait to try. There is live entertainment on Friday evenings and most days they offer drink "happy hour" specials. Overall this is a restaurant that is extremely good at providing options, great service and great food to customers. This place is a jewel in rural Indiana.

This has been a yelp weekend. Yelp did not disappoint. Our waitress told us the history of Walhil farm. The farm that turned restaurant. Much of the meat is raised right here. And this topped them all. Friendly. Out in middle of nowhere. But eccentric and eclectic inside. First the rolls. Excellent. Made from scratch. My wife and I got different salads. Both were wonderful. Our entrees also. I don't know how they could have improved. Mine was a 10 ounce ribeye, perfectly seasoned. My wife had the tenderloin pick chop. Would have loved dessert (all homemade) but we would have been comotose. If you are within an hour, do it.

Had dinner last night with another couple. It was terrible. Ordered hamburgers medium and they came out more than well done. Now they say they have a "Chef" but I doubt it. Probably just what they call the cook. To make up for the burgers they offered us dessert. We got a Brownie Sundae. Well, it could not be cut with a fork on the edges, we tried. It tasted like refrigerator, old and weird so we couldn't eat that either. For advertising fresh, home grown local stuff my guess they make it all up in advance and freeze it. I expect Robert Irvine will be showing up soon. I would recommend you go to Stake-n-Shake instead.

Wait staff was fantastic and there was live music the night we were there. Food was excellent and I found out the vegetables and meat are raised right there on the farm. Great filet! Rich in local history and the furniture is antique. Rivals any kind of nice dining I can get in Chicago. We'll be back!

I found this gem on where else, but Yelp! The previous reviews were spot on. From the time you drive into this property you know you are in for a treat. The restaurant itself is an old farm house that has been renovated. The history of this place is captivating. They have done a great job of mixing the history (used to be horse racing on the property prior to the 1970s) of the property with a unique decorating style. Every inch of this place is well cared for. The manager and the staff care about the restaurant. Simply put I would visit this place just to tour the property and have a drink. Thankfully the food was just as good as the property. It was a little expensive for a place out in the country, but the ingredients are all locally grown, produced, or obtained by other local sources. You can tell the quality is there and I appreciated every bite of my food that meal. I had the seared duck while my date had the rainbow trout. The duck was really good and I genuinely enjoyed it, but if I had to choose again I wouldn't hesitate to order the trout. It was perfectly prepared and the sauce that accompanies it is still making my mouth water days later. If you are going to visit this place come on a Friday night, book through open table for a reservation, and grab a spot on the outdoor terrace. Not only will you have a great view, you will get to hear some nice live music as well. This place is a 5 star date night destination. Enjoy!

This is a great stopping point between Cincinnati and Indianapolis. It's slightly off the beaten trail, but still convenient to I-74. The prices are outstanding as is the food. It's farm-fresh and you can tell the difference at the first bite. The andouille sausage sandwich was delicious! We really enjoyed the ambiance, and the waitstaff was very friendly and accommodating. I can't wait to come back to try their other menu items.

This restaurant was suggested by Lil Charlie's Brewery which was impossibly packed on a Saturday night. Obviously, there are not many choices in Batesville. I wish I had waited there for the 1+ hour. I understand the supposed need to blend this restaurant with the Farm it surrounds, but the food is definitely way overpriced and out-of-line with expected values and tastes. For example, what should be a truly spectacular juicy burger was rather bland and dry. Priced at $10 WITHOUT added things such as Mushrooms (50 cents) and Cheese (50 cents) and a few Saratoga Chips was ridiculous. Not even any French Fries ($5 add-on) were included. This brings a run-of-the-mill burger meal to over $15. A combo-deal from Burger King is a much better, and certainly tastier, value. Eating it in a Cracker barrel-type atmosphere makes it even more distasteful. I did review the rest of the menu and watched other diner's choices and it appears that the tendency to overprice and underperform permeates the entire dining experience at Walhill Farm. On the other hand, what other choices are there in Batesville.

Best steak of my life. Hands down. I live in Cincinnati and this place makes me want to move to Batesville. The cheese and charcuterie appetizer was amazing. The pig and fig terrine was the best part of the plate. Could not recommend this establishment enough.

Some friends of ours were playing music here, and invited us to come hear them. I didn't know quite what to expect, and, when I looked at the menu, it was a bit more expensive than I anticipated. This IS Batesville, after all. I gotta say...it was worth every penny. The food was exceptional, the service was top notch, and the atmosphere is unique and interesting without being overwhelming. My wife had some kind of wings that were on special, and I WISH I could recall what they were. I gotta say...best wings I've ever had. Period. So, SO very good. I had buffalo. Buffalo tends to be dry sometimes, but this was done right and as good as any piece of meat I've ever had. 5 star all the way. We'll be back.

Would highly recommend!! We ordered the filet and potato soup. Filet was delicious and prepared perfectly, very tender. Service was excellent. Ambiance was unique but elegant. Can't wait to go back, when it is not raining and eat on the patio. This is a gem off the beaten path but easy to locate.

So, the setting: Driving out I-74 West, realized in the rush to leave ... we didn't eat, hunger sets in near Batesville, IN. Yelp! Holy cow. This joint was a serious find. It's a bit off the highway, but well well worth the short trek. It's not often I'm compelled to leave a review after a first visit. This is an exception. Staff: A+. Service: A+. Menu: Are you freaking kidding me? Awesome. Atmosphere: unique, tasteful, and very interesting (ask about the property's back story.) Our meal was excellent and we'll be traveling back here again even though it's over 45 minutes from our home. Yeah, it was that good. If you travel through on I-74, live near Cincinnati or Indianapolis, or heck, live near Batesville and haven't visited this place, it's worth your hard earned money to try this place out. The only way you are disappointed is if you expect a high quality meal at Taco Bell prices. If you are that frugal ... keep eating at Taco Bell.

Found this place on yelp while driving through for work. Glad we stopped. I had the lamb burger, which was great. My friend had the sausage sandwich and he also enjoyed his lunch. I would go back, if I'm in the area.

Very special lunch as we were driving through. Excellent food for not much more than we could have spent on fast food!

My friend and I were traveling on a 8 hour trip to Chicago. Batesville, IN was a quick lunch stop but we wanted to try something local. Only 5 minutes off the interstate this lovely restaurant was the find of our trip; located amid cornfields and beautiful fall colors. It is known for its meat entrees but we wanted something light. The salads were amazing, obviously fresh with the right mix of interesting ingredients (shaved beets, truffled mushrooms, candy pears) and homemade dressings. Several salad options. Lovely soups and awesome veggie sides. I wish I could have stayed for all the dessets. Yes, and there were plenty of similarly creative meat dishes for carnivores. Delightful.

An amazing little gem tucked away in Batesville. I admit I didn't know what to expect when we first parked, but as soon as we got inside everything clicked. The inside has a great eclectic but sophisticated charm. The staff was very friendly and helpful for any questions we had. Oddly enough, we were impressed by the bathroom! Very clean and stylish. And the food, of course, was fantastic! I tried the filet mignon and I couldn't have been happier with it. Perfectly cooked, expertly seasoned, and it all went so well together! Prices are a bit high but we knew what we were getting into before we went. As we were walking out our waitress took us in the back to show us the game room where people can hang out and play pool, darts, poker, and a few others. Really a top-notch place. I'd recommend it to anyone in the area.

We were truly looking forward to our first Wahill Farm restaurant visit. Our visit was not only for dinner, but additionally to examine the facilities for a future large group affair. In making reservations, I specifically asked for a nice, quiet, "out of the way" table for four. We received a vinyl booth directly next to the restrooms and kitchen entrance. The booth was not adequate for four adults, thus one of our party had to use a wooden side chair, with no padding whatsoever. The booth area was both cold and drafty. Approximately 25 other dining guests, and even more wait staff passed our booth during our dinner. Noise from the kitchen was noticeable, as was noise from a wait staff niche one booth away. Coincidentally, many better tables were available as the restaurant was not fully utilized. Yes, I could have asked to be reseated elsewhere, but again, recall I specifically asked for a nice, quiet, "out of the way" table. Our waitress was courteous, but not professional. Service was good. Based upon menu and wine list pricing, I expect food, atmosphere, furnishings and service to be commensurate with cost. I initially ordered a $5.50 bottle of beer, and was asked if I needed a glass. I responded Yes. The beer glass was thin walled, and not chilled nor frosted. A bread basket was served almost 15 minutes after being seated. Just prior to dinner being served, our waitress asked if we "were done with that?"...but did not inquire if we actually wished additional bread. Décor throughout is blatantly faux, pseudo "farmsy" "country"...ala Cracker Barrel. Some areas had sagging drop ceilings, and carpet was worn. Vinyl upholstery and glossy epoxy sprayed brick was the highlight of our booth. Fit and finish is barn like...apropos for the farm motif. Both my wife and I had $32 meals...both satisfactory, but not comparable to that which one would expect if paying the same at a refined restaurant. Sauces were not compatible with the main dishes, and mashed potatoes and broccoli were barely warm. Dinners are essentially ala carte, with salads being additional cost. We won't be back...not because of our first visit, but rather due to the availability of far better fare, atmosphere, furnishings and service being available at alternative restaurants. If one wishes to pay refined prices for a country farm setting and service, Wahill Farm Restaurant is an excellent choice. For fine dining, seek elsewhere.

We were invited to join some local folks from Batesville to The Butcher Shoppe and we were very impressed. The ambiance when you walk in is unique and we felt like we were in for a treat. It helps to go with someone who has been and knows the menu well as there is a lot to select from for everyone's palate. As has been in previous reviews, the bread basket was excellent. We started with a three appetizers, which were outstanding and I am sorry I can't remember what we had. My main course was a cup of the beef stew which was excellent and followed by the bison burger, medium rare, and it was well seasoned and excellent. My wife had the Walhill salad and she was very pleased. We live in Columbus, IN and we will travel back to share another experience. The wait staff was very friendly and courteous with good tips on what was on the menu. I would recommend it to those looking for a unique dining experience in an unique location! . .

Places like this are why the farm to table movement continues to grow. We made the 45 minute drive from Cincinnati, and it was most definitely worth it. I heard the service was good, but when I walked in and the servers looked so young, I was a bit skeptical. Our server immediately proved my wrong, though. She gave an excellent recommendation for an appetizer and continued to provide attentive and well paced service throughout the meal. The recommended appetizer, stuffed portobello, was amazing. I'm not a huge mushroom or goat cheese fan, but this was full of so many complimentary flavors with grilled corn, house made bacon, pickled peppers, and chipotle mayo, that it just worked. For the entrees, we tried the buffalo burger and the duck breast. Cooking game meat can be tricky, but both of these we done exactly right. The duck was served on a bed of spinach and wild rice. Again, wild rice is not something I usually like, but the flavors of something tart/sweet (currants?) just blended so nicely with the nut flavors of the rice and the savory duck. The buffalo burger was moist and juicy - everything a burger should be that is so easily lost when cooking with buffalo. We ordered it with Swiss cheese and bacon, and I would definitely do that again, although I'm sure the burger would be good on its own as well. I only wish we would have saved room from dessert, because I overheard a server talking about their s'mores with house made marshmallows. That will be a good reason to go back soon. Is this place cheap? No, but paying a little more to support local farmers for a delicious and memorable meal is okay with me!
