Food was ready quickly and served hot and fresh. Some variety in sauces and heat levels would be nice.

Love this place. It is a standard Mexican food type of place, but the quality is always top notch. I'm the type of person that typically gets the same thing each time I go to a certain place. I'm not like that here. I have about 10 "favorite" dishes here.

Mm. I remember going to this place back when it was El Niño's on the corner of 144 and 135 in Bargersville. I was a devastated little girl when they relocated because I thought they were leaving forever. Back then it had maybe twenty tables and outdoor bathrooms, but the absolute best salsa and service around. Two locations later it's become a lot more popular. Most of the staff has turned over except for a handful of servers (who still remember me and my family every time I come in). The bathrooms are also very clean and inside! Every item on their menu is amazing to me! I love their chips (never stale), and made-in-store salsa (my #1 favorite). Even at my age one of my favorite dishes to order is the kid's chicken nuggets, because they're dinosaur shaped. The wet burrito and the tacos are exceptional as well, not to mention the fajitas. I'm usually not a fan of Mexican food but this place has always had a special place in my heart as great food, amazing service and cheap prices. Love love love.

AWFUL! Don't go after 8pm. We went at 845 tonight and they were just terrible. Our table was dirty and we had to wait 10 min for clean margarita glasses. Took my food back three times until I FINALLY got my correct order. Asked for our lettuce, jalapeños and cheese sauce at least 4 times before they actually came. And then... Our bills were wrong!! I will never be returning to this place again.

We had a long day of speedboating in the sun. Actually, it was partly cloudy most of the day. But in the afternoon the sun bore down on the car as we drove north, cutting through corn fields heading home, and the heat stilled our conversation. We were hungry and so we stopped to eat. So there we were, four of us. Las Chalupas. As we waited for our food, the conversation was slight. The salsa mild. The margarita cold and sweet and as I drank it I was pleased I had received the strawberry flavor, on rocks, no salt. It was not what I had ordered. I believe the few hours in the sun earlier had left me dehydrated; the drink hit my tongue sharp and succulent. 12 ounces of moderate pleasure. The service and food were satisfactory. Our waiter was, however, stingy on the napkins. We had to ask for more at one point. I would consider going back, and were I - for instance - to drive by again hungry and tired with a group of friends and have someone suggest we stop there to eat I would quietly assent.

My husband and I visited this restaurant last night after it was recommended to us. Coming from Texas, we love our Mexican food. The salsa was, although not spicy, was fantastic. The queso was good as well. I ordered #9 (a burrito) and it was wonderful! They were very busy while we were there, but the server was nice enough. There was lots of seating too!

Great little Mexican place tucked away from the hustle and bustle just north on 135. We've been here pretty consistently since moving to this side of town a couple of years ago and are always happy with the result. Great cheese sauce, great variety, and good service. On the slow side at times, but worth the wait.

The best salsa in Johnson County! Great service and the "La Bomba" Burrito was the BOMB!!

it's your atypical Indy Mexican restaurant. The salsa is a little on the hot side but that's how I like it. Service has been a little meh the few times I've been, despite the last time the waiter taking a personal interest in me. Dude if you would bring me mas aqua y chips on a regular basis and not disappear for 20 minutes I would've talked en Espanol more to you.

We decided to try this place out with some friends of ours, the over all experience was just plain not good. The food was ok, if you are looking for a place to chill with friends after the meal and have a few drinks this is NOT the place. All four of our plates were never cleared from the table until after we left and we sat there for over an hour after we were done eating. We wanted too continue to have some drinks however the server just brought our checks instead of asking if we wanted more. There was nothing outstanding about the food and having to flag your server down every time you need something just wasn't fun....

Tons of seating! Great for groups! And FAB Mexican food. The salsa is some of the best I've ever had. And I've never had chips that are stale or cold. Today we all decided on the taco salad. I chose the chicken, but have had the ground beef and both are delicious. Don't be afraid to try something new on the menu. Everything is fantastic and I've never had something I haven't liked! Not to mention we ordered and no more than 3 minutes later our food was at our table. The guacamole and queso dip are to die for. The margaritas are great, too! And they have great drink and food specials depending on the day of the week. The staff is friendly, helpful, and very knowledgable. The restaurant is clean and bright and very festive. All in all, I love Las Chalupas more than any other reasonably priced Mexican restaurant. I've never had a bad experience & I could seriously eat there every day. Probably for every meal. I'm a Mexican food junky!

A little disappointing because there were 3 tables when we were sat, but by the time we received our drinks, we finished a basket of chips and salsa, and our food arrived 3-5 minutes after. Our server was very slow and we had to stop him and ask him for our drinks. The food was excellent, though :)

Mi familia eats here on the regular. Fernando is our usual waiter and knows our drink order so he just brings it out. He also remembers my dad's usual order of a chimichanga. I love the chips & salsa. I have never tried anything on the menu that I didn't like. Recently I've been getting the Pollo Supremo, Tamales, or the Acapulco all of which are delicious. The margaritas are quite nice as well. There is tons of seating and the wait is never long to be seated. It's really nice to sit on the patio in the summertime too. Mi favorito!

I didn't care for the harsh lighting or how long it took for a waiter to show up at our table, but I did enjoy the salsa.

I am very choosy about my Mexican food and they nail it. I will try others but they have always come up short. Las Chalupas staff are very friendly & the food is the best. I have had a private party there and it went great. I try to eat there as much as possible.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
