Great onionburgers! We lucked out and got a table as soon as we walked in. The server was friendly and fast. You can watch the guy at the grill making food to order. It was clean inside. The décor is a bit dated which probably adds to the charm a bit. My onionburger was cooked nicely with the right proportions of toppings. The onion rings were hot and crisp. The food came out quickly considering it was crowded. I appreciate they don't try to do anything fancy, sticking to what they know. The small menu makes it affordable and consistent. And they definitely know how to cook a burger! I will definitely go back and would like to try a milkshake next time.

We were running errands in the area (up from Indy) and wanted a quick spot of lunch. Yelp led us to the Lemon Drop and we were not disappointed!! The place was lively and busy, but we were able to snag seats at the counter. We were immediately greeted by all three gals working, and water was put in front of us before our butts hit the seats! We saw a note on Yelp about the onionburgers, so we ordered three, plus a side of fries to share. Service was quick, prices were beyond reasonable, and the choo-choo train was a fun distraction. We are big fans of Route 66, and the Lemon Drop reminded us of so many places we have stopped along that historic road... we'll gladly drop in again next time we're in Anderson. :)

Unpretentious throwback style automotive town diner with a no frills style of food and service. My daughter and I dropped by for dinner recently...had driven by many times and you simply cannot miss the lemon yellow exterior. Seated ourselves and ordered up an onion burger and rings...very fresh and just like you would expect for diner fare. Daughter had a grilled ham and cheese with fries, also very good. Low cost, good service, lemon drops at the counter after you pay. Cool place and will be coming back.

Classic Indiana burger joint. This place is a holdover from the auto industry heyday. Formerly a blue collar diner, now it is a nostalgia-laden classic. It is a colorful (yellow, of course) cinderblock building with a great sign outside. It is surprisingly small inside, but very authentic. The stars here are the burgers. They are thin and prepared as burgers were 50 years ago (so I've been told! I'm not that old). I highly recommend the cheeseburger on toast (which is exactly what it sounds like) or the onion burger. The cokes have the good kind of small, slush-like ice. The waitresses are super nice so tip them well. The only thing you have to be careful of is that it might be closed around major holidays!

I like this place. Like others mentioned, it's a cute little diner that is a throwback to the 50's, with an old fashioned neon lit sign out front, and booths and counterspace that reminded me of something from Happy Days. There's a toy train that runs on elevated tracks which was fun to watch too. We ordered the onion rings, burger, and got a chili to go. The onion rings were delicious and the burger was solid--thin patties with grilled onions on top. Fast, friendly service. Overall, a fun place with a good vibe and good service. Avoid all the corporate crap (McDs, BK, Olive Garden, and so forth) and try out the Lemon Drop for decent diner food and a nice hit of nostalgia.

Great divey diner! Pros: friendly staff, nice grungy lovable atmosphere, good food for a decent price, fast service. Cons: VERY small, they don't serve a large variety of food (man I would love it if they served diner breakfast food!!), don't serve pies. This place would totally be more awesome if they sold good homemade pies.

Probably my most favorite spot when I come home! Always get the tenderloin sandwich, ALWAYS. It's been around forever and it's still great every time! A must try if your in the area, trust me you won't regret it!

Quite simply one of the greatest little places I've ever found. The Lemon Drop is a true old fashioned diner. The entire menu (ONIONBURGERS!!) is contained in a board on the side wall-- because that's all it needs. Less is more here, SIMPLE. This is a sandwich-and-a-cup-of-coffee kind of place, and I'm glad that's what it is. If 1940s pop music had been playing on the radio, I would've believed I had stepped back in time. Go for the excellent food and the truly kind hometown service...stay an extra few minutes to learn about the way life once was.

A typical greasy spoon, place was packed with locals. I don't eat at these places very often but this was very good. The service was great and I liked the feel of the place. If you are in the mood for a good burger or tenderloin, worth going out of your way.

A real neat, nostalgic, yet simple glimpse into the greasy spoons of the 50's. Service was very friendly, and my hot meal was ready in just a few minutes. The food was a great value for the price.

Good place for a quick bite. The hamburgers were good not like what you nget at McDonald's Their Onion Burger is something you should try. Fries are good and crisp and not soggy like at most fast food places. Prices are reasonable.

The Lemon Drop onion burgers haunt me constantly...always thinking of them every time I try an imposter. This 50's holdover in a formerly blue-collar town (RIP American Auto industry) has the very best onion burgers I've ever had. The grilled onions inside the patty leak out and provide so much taste to the burger. It is so good. The burgers are generous and well flavored. The operator insists on cooking the burgers himself so each one is perfect. A must-try are the Hoosier-style Tenderloins - perfectly had with horseradish if available. The building is a small cinder-block structure on a funny intersection, parking is easy but awkward. The tables are few but they also serve at a bar. Seating for few, but so worth it!!! Call ahead if you're coming on a weekend, near a holiday, or over the winter as the operator leaves and shuts down for vacation frequently. Kids will love the train going around the 'drop. Lemon Drop - I love you so...

The Lemon Drop is Da Bomb! Seriously, if you're driving through the area, you have to stop at the Lemon Drop. The diner is small, but they have the best onion burgers and Tenderloins. It's also great for soaking up a little leftover 1960's/70's small-town / working-class nostalgia when Anderson was booming.

Been all over this country and no other burger comes close to an Onion Burger from the Lemon Drop. The great service with nostalgia makes for an amazing place. Have your onion burger double with cheese everything.

I came here in the Spring of 2007...or was it 2006? Doesn't matter, what I do remember was that it was fantastic. Your classic diner in the middle of a town of a bygone era. The burgers, fries, onion rings, etc. They do all the classics well. The most memorable part was the toy train running around the top of the walls. Brings back great memories. I picked up a hoodie on my way out and seeing it again is the reason I had to write this.

I was in Anderson for a day and couldn't resist Yelp's lure of the oinion burger. Or should I say YUMion burger? (sorry, I can't resist a bad pun either). Friends, this burger is made with love - so hot off the grill that the co-operator (I presume the chef's wife) warns me to be careful with the first bite. Good fries to boot, and coca-cola served in a glass of crushed ice to make sure it's "ice cold." And how much I wish that restaurants would understand that it is not rude to give the check with the meal and let the customer decide how long they want to stay.

Having read the reviews, I decided to do some investigative research. Lemon Drop Diner did not disappoint. The onion burgers were delicious, nice and crispy around the edges. I will return again and try the lemon shake and toasted cheeseburger. While the food was great, the best part was chatting with the employees. They love working there and they are treated very well by management, which is not something we often hear about in this day and age. Great food and happy employees. What's not to love?

I've been coming here as long as I can remember with my family, and I can easily say it is the best place for burgers in central Indiana. There may not be much else in Anderson any more (besides the empty Wigwam, Gene's, and Art's Pizza), but The Lemon Drop makes the trip worth it. The menu is nearly as small as the diner itself, and everything is worth a try, but my favorite thing has to be the onionburger. Don't bother with Steak n' Shake, and make the trip here instead!

The Lemon Drop is a holdover from the days when Anderson actually had employment thanks to all the plants and factories in the area. It's a tiny little diner next to Mounds Mall, painted bright yellow and decorated with a 50's (and lemons) theme. The menu is limited--burgers, fries, shakes, a few fried things--but it's perfect when you want some old-fashioned diner food. Fries are plentiful and crispy, the fried fish is pretty damn good for a land-locked state, and the buns are toasted wonderfully on the griddle. Yum!

Been by there many a time, but first time I ate there. Small diner like cafe with limited menu of various burgers/sandwiches,fries/onion rings. The burgers were excellent, though thin and all cooked well done. Breaded tenderloin dinner would have been served in "non-sandwich" style had the waitress not pointed that out. Good thick center of meat and the breading was not too thick. French fries were the thin kind and crisp not soggy. Onion ring--I think they were bought commercially. True rings of onion, but the breading was thicker than I like. Drink refills were free.

Delicious food. The burgers remind me of the steakburgers at SteakN'Shake - they're pressed kinda flat once they come off the grill. I usually get a double to bulk up the meat-to-bun ratio. This place has always been packed every time I've been there, but it's worth the wait for a table!

Step back in time, order your cherry phosphate with an onion burger and fries and watch Bill cook it up on the grill right in front of you. YUMMY. The waitresses provide great service and friendly smiles. What I love about this place: -Onion burgers (two thin patties with grilled onions in between) -Toasted cheeseburgers -Vanilla Coke -Sitting at the counter -The toy train, always running -Actual lemon drops beside the cash register for dessert -Halloween when the place is decked out with all sorts of fun things -More parking than seats (if you can't fit into the lot you probably wouldn't get a seat for a while anyway.) -The intimate setting (Never change this, please, Bill.)

The Lemon Drop is another Anderson classic. It's been around forever! The food is absolutely delicious and the prices are very low. The burgers are great, especially if your order them on toast instead of a bun. A few words of caution: If you have a large appetite, you may need to order two sandwiches. The burgers are relatively thin, however still delicious. Also, the seating is very limited so you may want to go at an off time to make sure you have a place to sit.

The Lemon Drop Restaurant is always packed for a reason. Well- two reasons . . Reason 1: It only seats approximately 25 people Reason 2: The simple 1950's drive-in- esque menu Famous for onion burgers and fries. One visit and you will be hooked. Delicious!

This place is a home town fave. Food is great and staff is friendly. One drawback is that it is very small and you will probably have to wait for a table. On the other hand, though, I appreciate the fact that they have not expanded into something that is completely different from the original. Summary...it is worth the wait.

While on a sightseeing trip, we were guided here by the Indiana Tenderloin Trail list and the Tenderloin sandwich here did not disappoint (it was on the small side as I recall, but delicious). The fries were equally good. What makes this place stand out is the lemon milkshake, which was a bit of citrus heaven in a cup. Really nice people too.
