So I've been here twice now first time I was in a hurry and didn't know what to get so I got the bacon burger. The burger was excellent thick bacon on Angus how could you go wrong. This time we stopped and had plenty of time to figure out what I wanted to try but I didn't even have to look at the menu. This is because the nice server we had read me the specials and all sound fantastic. I went with my favorite fish the halibut and had it blackened. Our food got to the table super fast and the halibut was so good and it was a big piece of fish. My girlfriend had the steak Alfredo and the steak was was juicy and broccoli was fresh so good. If your in the area or not this is a great place to eat. Thanks Lakeview grill Chris

Everything was excellent. Fried shrimp perfect breading, perfect grilled salmon and just superb strawberry shortcake was memorable. Great ambience and the friendliest staff.

Just came back from dinner with my wife and we both agreed one of the worst meals we have ever eaten. Service was slow and food was just horrible. I would not recommend this to my worst enemy. Not sure where all the good reviews come from.

Have been here a few times and haven't found anything we haven't liked as of yet. Have always dined in and never taken anything to go. This is a place we take out of town guests. Casual yet still nice casual if you want. Would recommend to friends.

5:30 pm on Saturday night, place was packed. Dining room is on the small side and loud; I personally prefer quieter places. Grabbed stools in the middle of the bar where it was a bit quieter, and it was easier to chat and hear one another sitting side by side. Three TVs in the bar if you want to follow a game. I started with French Onion soup, he had steak and dumpling, both delicious. French onion soup had good onion base, a garlic toast round, and broiled cheese on top, one of the better ones I've had. Then he had meatloaf with loaded baked potato while I enjoyed the loaded chicken (grilled chicken breast with cheddar cheese, barbecue sauce, and bacon). Again, both delicious. I loved the BBQ sauce's rich sweet flavor, and had enough cheese and bacon for every bite of chicken. I only finished part of my baked potato and didn't touch my side of vegetables. A crunchy-crusted white bread came with the meal. The bartender who served us gave wonderful service, everything was served hot and in a timely fashion. With 2 beers, our bill was just about $44 before tip. I would liken the food quality to Houlihan's in Geneva, overall great for a nice mid-range outer-suburbs restaurant. I'd come again as a couple to the bar, but I don't think I'd bring a group due to the high noise level and crowded seating layout. They have a small outside patio but not in use due to rain. Convenient location right off Rte 47 and 34.

Had a pleasant dinner one Sunday afternoon. Prime rib is available on Thursday and Sunday and my wife enjoyed hers; the portion was generous and the sides complemented the dinner well (loaded baked potato and steamed broccoli). I had the top sirloin and it was cooked just as I ordered. The wait staff was attentive. As the name implies, the main dining room has a nice view of a small lake. Outdoor seating is available weather permitting.

We came here from all the great reviews on yelp, but honestly we were disappointed with almost everything. It was a lovely evening so we asked to sit on the patio, 15 minutes later our waiteress finally came to our table (and this was the first of the three times we saw her the whole evening) We started off with the Spinach and artichoke fondue, our go to app when we're out to dinner, it was downright horrible, cold, and just layers of unmelted cheeses and artichokes plopped around. For dinner I tried the baked cheese ravioli and sausage, which was alright, you do get a very large portion, but but the hardly any flavor. My husband had the Rosemary Garlic Chicken, it was so salty and dry that he barely touched it, our son had the wings and did not like them at all. I'm really hoping this was an off night for them, everyone has such wonderful things to say about this place, and we really wanted to like it.

Came there at 3 PM, opens at 4 PM, oops!! Definitely OUR mistake! HOWEVER! The owner was already hosting a bridal shower party inside and said we could come in early and eat anyway :D We had a private table on the porch and were served right away! Phenomenal customer service, phenomenal food.

Great food, baked French onion soup is very delicious, fish fry is very good, service is excellent and the deserts are huge enough for two, try the cheese cake.

Went there last night, got right in and had amazing service. Good was awesome like always. My husband had the strip which was tender and succulent. I had the strip with grilled shrimp. The shrimp was so amazing and they were huge!! My son loves the ribs here. Everyone is so polite!

I've been here twice, my first experience was just ok and the second was pretty bad. The first time I ordered a burger and it was just alright...nothing special or unique. I did like their outdoor patio which is why I decided to go back a second time. That time I ordered the prime rib and was seriously disappointed. I realize that type of cut of meat can be quite fatty, but my piece was over 50% fat, leaving me with barely any food. My boyfriend ordered catfish that was very bland:( I'm not opposed to giving it another chance but it will definitely be the last if the experience isn't any better.

Got together for dinner with another couple tonight at Lakeview. The place was packed (as I would except at the good place) and was extremely happy the service and food were both excellent. Pork Chops and Steaks and seafood dishes we all great.

Excellent food and service. Had filet and garlic mashed potatoes. Best French Onion Soup as well.

Blackened Chicken Pasta was horrible. Service was ok. Waitress name Lizzy took a very deep breath when she asked how was the food & I responded saying the chicken tasted very bad. It tasted like it was defrosted & thrown into the pot with no flavors. Mosquitos in the outdoor area are horrible as well. Will NOT be going to this restaurant again. 1st and last.

Went west for our wedding anniversary, 4/26, for an early dinner. Been to Lakeview in the past, but this was the first prime rib. It was an awesome meal. I can't remember the last time I had the meat cooked spot on; tender, tasty, and the 12 oz definitely worth the money. (The left overs tasted great also.) The baked french onion soup, the onion petals (so much easier that onion blossom) and the warm bread. Another restaurant that more that willingly accommodates my wife's dietary needs. Go west for a great meal.

My husband and I just came home from Lakeview Grille where we had THE BEST service from Heather! We brought home their Rumchata cake with cinnamon ice cream and it was absolutely delicious!! Everything was excellent: apple cider sangria, spinach fondue, fish and chips, Greek salad... Will be back soon :)

Delicious fresh salad served with warm bread. Had the special prime rib served with sautéd fresh veggies and baked potato. Very good meal and a super value at 14.99. Would definitely recommend it-also nice view of small lake or dining available in the bar.

This is one of my favorite spots for a perfect meal and great service. The outdoor seating is beautiful and out of direct, too-bright sunlight as the sun goes down, as the patio is on the east side of the restaurant. There is a plentiful, yet not ridiculous amount of menu selection, and always plenty of delicious-sounding specials. The staff are always pleasant and attentive. The only negative is that in the main dining room, the tables are rather close.

We've driven by here several times and seen the sign about their Prime Rib special on Sundays. Finally we had a chance to stop in and I doubt that we will bother coming back. The Prime Rib was just so-so. Not bad, but not good either. Service was hit and miss as well. Although she was attentive, many things had to be repeated, questioned, asked to correct (dressings wrong, condiments wrong). Finally we had to ask the manager about the bill as nothing rang up as the price on the menu. Come to find out they have an up-charge on many of the things we ordered.

Ugh. Another mediocre far west suburban eatery. I wasn't expecting more than bbq chicken, ribs, and the usual pasta fare, and that's what we ended up getting. I wasn't very impressed with much, and quite annoyed after the hostess sat our family of 6 (with 2 toddlers) in the bar area. The place wasn't yet filled with diners for dinner rush, so I was confused as to just why she would seat us there. No biggie, let's check out the drink list. Blah again. Don't know if I will ever return to Lakeview Grill again.

Second time at Lakeview Grille and I have to say I've been underwhelmed both times. The good: The service was fast and very friendly and the ambiance was fine. Bread big and crusty. Salad good. Not so good: Both times the menu items sounded good but the actual dishes were very basic in flavor profile. I got the Mediterranean pasta the first time and the 'pick two' grill items with chicken limon and bbq ribs this time. On the latter meal the 'garlic mashed potatoes' tasted like they were from a box (ugh!), instead of chicken breast it was two thin cutlets that were dry and the ribs were very so-so. My wife's fish was quite over-crusted with breading and, we felt, overpriced. So we'll have to take a pass next time we're doing dinner in Yorkville....

  • John H.

This is a good suburban restaurant with excellent food and good service. The fish and chips are perfectly cooks and lightly breaded. The prime rib was excellent. The service was good, but we were forgotten at the end and so the four stars. I expect to be taken care of from the moment I walk in until I walk out the door. My guest and I had to ask another waitress for a refill on our coffee. Other than that a very pleasant experience.

Food was good. Service was good. We were the last ones in the place and they were still open for 1.5 hrs but all the employees were sitting around waiting for us to leave. Would definitely eat there again though.

A Steak Place that Can't Do a Good Steak? We zipped up after church for dinner - we heard from an acquaintance that the food here was good, as were the steaks. The initial wait to be seated was around 30 minutes, and we had some company. We didn't have reservations, so what do you expect for a Saturday night - it's about the same as anyplace else. They started with a nice, hard crust bread. Not a lot of it, but it was very good, and served with creamed butter, which spread nicely. Dinner entrees come with soup or salad, and both can be upgraded for $2.50 to their French Onion Soup or Wedge Salad, so we tried that. It was the best part of the meal, which went downhill from there. The entrees we ordered were steaks. Both were cooked to the proper request, but there were some oddities. This is supposed to be Prime meat - I've had that at numerous locations. All of the other Prime I have had was far more tender than this was. The Prime Rib arrived browned on both sides, which tells me it isn't cooked on the rib and cut off, which for a restaurant of this caliber is just unsat. Add in a complete and total lack of seasoning, and you get the picture. If the kitchen was trying to tell us not to come back, Message Received. The service was good, and the wine prices were reasonable - I've seen some places gouge twice as much for the same bottle and quality. Just an average dinner. Not worth the drive or wait.

  • Michael L.

After going by here several times we thought we would stop in and try their Prime Rib Special. It was on special, but it was nothing special. Little to no flavor, and not as tender as most places we have been. For the price, I would have thought that it would have been much more flavorful and tasty. There were 4 in our party and I think we were all disappointed. Won't be back.

Decent food in an area full of Chains. I have been here several times. The Bar staff is friendly, and I can eat the full menu at the bar, in the dining room, or on the patio. The Baked French Onion soup is great, and the steaks are also pretty good. Reasonably priced, I look at this place as a higher end Applebees. The main dining room is lacking character, and is so-so. The patio is nice to get some fresh air, and enjoy a drink. Service is good and prices are fair.

Finally, if you want to have a nice dinner date but don't want to travel all the way to Naperville to do so, this place just hooked you up. I love the decor with the string lights indoors and outdoors. The restaurant was very clean and the servers have always been nice. I like to get the steak carbonara pasta or the prime rib...both excellent dishes. Oh, and the complimentary bread is delicious and soft...I hate hard bread.

    (5)
  • Rachel L.

Service was solid, prices are fair...but food is not executed well. Steak was overcooked and bland. Grilled shrimp was covered in butter. Best part of meal was the French onion soup.

  • Hayley H.

Underwhelming. Compared to Fireside Grill in Sugar Grove, (owned previously by the same people) I was surprised at how high the prices were for the quality of the dishes. Basic american food can be amazing, if done right. This was just boring, practically diner food. Nothing new or interesting. Just another boring, basic, bar and grille in Yorkville, Il. Unless they update the menu, I will not be visiting again. Its a shame, really, because it is such a beautiful space. The dining room with large windows overlooking the lake could make for some really romantic dinners. Though, there is something unsettling about being able to see the front door while eating in a restaurant.

I went here with all my in-laws. We had a blast! We started with calamari, done just right. Not too soggy, not too crispy, and with just the right amount of lemon. I had an almond-crusted walleye and sweet potato, it was lovely. My husband had steak. Good food, good times, one of the few very good restaurants in the west-of-Naperville suburbs. Plus, the view of the small lake is just beautiful.

This is a great place to eat in a non holiday evening and have always had terrific food with decent service. Today, New Years Eve we called and made reservations "thank goodness because the place was packed" for a nice dinner. When we arrived we were seated promptly as we saw many walk out due to lack of reservations and the 1 1/2 hr wait. This is when the experience became disappointing. We couldn't order our favorites off the regular menu as they had a limited Menu "I understand this because it keeps the flow of the Kitchen going"; however when they answered the phone or even on the web they could have stated that there was a limited Menu. My brother in law left, my wife couldn't have her favorite and I had to deal with the dissapointment. It's only one visit so I'll write this one off as a learning experience and look forward to my next visit on a normal evening.

  • Margie T.

Overpriced for what you get. I had the blackened chicken pasta. The chicken tasted and looked like something precooked out of a box. My draft beer was flat. The whole place lacks atmosphere. It feels like you are walking into a cafeteria. The view out of the back window is great though and our waitress Nichole was very nice and attentive.

We went to Lakeview Grille for the first time tonight because we saw their $11.99 Thursday night prime rib special in the Clipper Magazine. I checked them out here on Yelp and I have to say I agree with all the other positive comments. The service was quick, friendly, and attentive, the prime rib was juicy and tender with a delicious flavor -- no extra salt needed! - and the environment was comfortable and relaxed. The hostess checked on us during our meal too, which was another nice touch. I enjoyed the salad - no iceberg on the plate (which I agree with another comment should be a little bigger with the generous amount of salad they give)- mixed field greens, tomatoes, red onion, cucumber, and croutons. It arrived cold & crunchy. The fresh bread was warm from the oven and served with whipped butter, a nice touch. And if it matters to you-- the ladies' room was clean (with two little girls we usually end up checking out the potty wherever we go!). The only problem I had was trying to decide what to order! We went in for the prime rib, but after our server described the evening's specials I wasn't so sure. I thought the tequila-lime grilled shrimp over pasta sounded good, as did the tenderloin beef kabobs served over risotto, and also the mustard-seared scallops. Decisions, decisions! We'll definitely be back. And hopefully they'll have the scallops again!

It's hard to review a restaurant after only one visit, but since it's a new one I wanted to post a review. My husband and I went here for dinner the other night for the first time and really liked it. The atmosphere was nice - you could dress up or you can dress down. I was in jeans and flip flops and didn't feel out of place, but I also saw people there a little bit more dressed up. The prices were fair, the food and service was good. My husband got prime rib, rare. He later said that he probably should have sent it back, it was really hard to cut, and hard to enjoy. Not sure if it was just that particular cut of meat, or the fact that he got it so rare, but we also had soup and my dinner, and everything else was great. I ordered the buffalo chicken salad and it was delicious! A good portion, not too small, not too huge, and a good price. We decided to eat at the bar and watch some pre-season football, it was comfortable to eat at the bar and the service was good! I would definitely go back!

The last time I was here we were sat at the far corner with two big windows on each wall. Wow! The view was wonderful. I also like the decor on the walls so I'd say this place is very pretty. My husband and I always get the calamari because (as another had said) it is perfect. Not to crispy and not soggy either. Even though everyone loves the prime rib here, I think it's OK. I do absolutely love the ribs. They have great flavor without the sauce, I bet the ribs are outstanding with the sauce. I just don't do sauce. The cocktails are not weak either. You can tell by having one or watching the other guests around you. Nice fun place

I was very happy with my meal as were my husband and the other couple we were with. I liked the atmosphere and look forward to sitting in their patio area, weather permitting. The staff was very friendly. Only complaint, we wanted to make reservations and were told they only do it for a party of 6 or more and they have plenty of room. When we got there, we had to wait which was no big but we stated we wanted dining room not bar area. And each time our buzzer went off they wanted to seat us in the bar. Third time they got it right. I would probably go back. Their blackened tilapia was awesome.

I've been to Lakeview a handful of times, it is one of the only nice restaurants within a reasonable drive from Plano. Our last visit was New Years Eve, also my birthday. When we arrived the place was packed, of course, and although we had made a reservation we were told our name would be put on the wait list. Apparently everyone was having a few more drinks and taking a little longer to eat than usual. It ended up being fine, we went to the bar for a drink and our pager rang within 10 minutes. My husband and I were seated in the banquet room off to the side of the main dining room, in the middle of 4 large (10+ people) parties. At first the ambiance was nice, sat by the windows and enjoyed our appetizer. Then things got bad...I understand it was New Years and obviously these large groups of people had a few cocktails before coming to the restaurant, where they kept drinking. They were completely wasted and incredibly loud, vulgur and rude, I could barely hear myself think. Now I understand this isn't the restaurant's fault, but it would have been nice if the server had alerted the manager to the problem and he could have politely asked them to "keep it down". Out of consideration for everyone else spending qutie a bit of $$$ for their inflated holiday menu food.

This is without a doubt, the best sit-down restaurant in the area. The food is great and moderately priced for the portion sizes. I've been here numerous times with friends and family and never waited more than 20 minutes for a table ... even during the dinner rush! The staff is very warm and friendly. In fact, they're beginning to recognize me and my wife (guess we really do go a lot). Definitely beats Stonefire Grill and Blackstone Grill. Can be easy to miss though, as it is tucked behind a strip mall.

I have never felt the need to write a review but I have also never had so many amazing experiences at one restaurant. I have enjoyed Lakeview several times every time trying a new tasty dish. I visit many restaurants all over the United States traveling but Lakeview impresses me more visit after visit. From every savory bite to friendly customer service!! If you have not experienced Lakeview yet it could be your new favorite spot!! ;)

Was disappointed in Lakeview. Went for the first time because of their special. The weather was beautiful, so we asked to sit on the patio. I ordered the prime rib special and had to send it back twice. The 3rd time it finally came correctly, which was med-rare. The first time it was well done, the 2nd time it was well done, so when I sent it back the 3rd time, I asked for it rare and it came med-rare. As we were eating our meal, several people came out on the patio to have a cigarette. The Illinois law is no smoking within 15 feet of operating doors or windows, so that should put the entire patio in a no smoking area because of the doors and/or windows, but they were allowing people to smoke, which totally ruined the atmosphere and the meal. We did ask about it and were told there is no smoking out there during dinner hours, but clearly that wasn't the case. I would not go back.

It is our favorite and we would like to thank Jimmy, Jen and the entire staff for always making our visit so wonderful..Besides the great food and atmosphere, the staff is really terrific..I would name them, but they are all terrific..We were just there 4-2-13 for our anniversary and it was so much fun...Thanks to all..we will be back very soon..Sincerely, Bob and Linda

Well. The service was really good. Christy was our waitress and she was friendly and informative. The food was good but could have been better at this price. The bad: it should be rated as $$$ instead of $$. It was about 30% more expensive than other restaurants. We dumped about $140 on normal dinner that I would have gladly paid about $100 for. Steak was good. Their idea of cajun style is a bit different than mine but it was okay. If they were priced a bit lower I would have rated them a bit higher.

We ate here for the first time last Friday. We both had a hamburger and it was a very good burger & loved the bun also. Good fries. We had the Shiner Bock beer and loved it! Service was good also. Next time we want to eat in the bar or at least sit in bar

My girlfriend really likes this place; for me its about average. I would probably give it a 4 if not for the inconsistency in food quality - one day we will go and it will be good, the next so-so at best, or she will get good food and me bad, and so on. Overall it is a decent place to eat, pretty good service, and reasonable prices.

ummm what happened to our waitress? We had to ask for everything more than once and we were left to fend for ourselves most of the time. I don't think it was our waitresses fault though I think she had way to many tables. We saw the manager, or host, walking around all important looking but he never bothered to see if we needed anything.... or if his wait staff needed some assistance.

I grew up in Plano and was there visiting my family from Hawaii when my Mom ask me to find a restaurant nearby to take her kids to. So I choose Lakeview Grille so my 3 brothers and wives brother-in-law and my Mom and friend all went to the restaurant and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Cajun Ribeye steak, sweet potato, french onion soup, vegetables and along with the fresh baked bread was outstanding. I don't think I have ever had a better 16 oz. steak than the one I was served that night. The sweet potato with the side of butter and brown sugar was delicious. I called my daugher in Michigan and told her that when she comes to IL. to visit I would love to take her there for dinner and in particular the Cajun ribeye steak. Outstanding to you at the Lakeville grille.

I feel compelled to tell you what a horrible experience that my family and I had at your restaurant last night. Both my husband and I and his parents are frequenters of Lakeview, and since the last time we came on a Sunday in September, we enjoyed delicious prime rib, I decided to make reservations for the 8 of us in the family as a SPECIAL 60th birthday celebration for my father-in-law. My father-in-law and I both ordered the prime rib special, neither of us picky eaters by any means. Never have I ever had such a more fatty, disgusting piece of steak in my life. I only was able to stomach 4-5 bites that had little fat. The rest was completely fat. The brocoli that came out was practically raw and tasted old/bad. My father-in-laws's veggies, on the other hand, were over-steamed and soggy. Service, overall, was AWFUL... it was 4:30, the restaurant wasn't even half-full. I am disappointed and angry that my father-in-laws 60th birthday dinner was so disgusting that he didn't even finish. My husband and I, who very close to this restaurant, will not be back. If that is the quality of meal and service you provide, we will be taking our business to one of the many of there local small businesses.

A nice place with good food. Clean and comfortable with excellent service. We tried the cheese ravioli - excellent; a rib eye - nicely done; and a pasta special - delicious. We left this place with full bellies, smiles and a promise to return soon.
