Wilmington House Restaurant

210 Bridge St
Wilmington, 60481
Reviews:
Had crepes this morning. Hot and fresh. The restaurant is a little dated inside. Reminds me of grandmas living room. Service was great food was good and hot.
The catfish dinner (I got the filet) takes a bit of time to come up, but tasted *fantastic.* The potatoes we got as sides were underwhelming, though (I got mashed covered in way too much gravy, my SO got a baked potato he wasn't fond of, either). The interior is really dated, but generally clean, and the drinks don't have free refills (watch out!).
Nice little cafe! I love finding those locally owned eatin spots through a small town. We stopped here as a last minute decision and it was a win, we will defiantly be back to try breakfast. I had a chicken salad sandwich on a croissant, onion rings and chicken bow-tie soup for $6.99, our waitress was a really nice woman as well. They have a very large menu, plenty to pick from.

Chick-A-Dee Restaurant

390 W Baltimore St
Wilmington, 60481
Reviews:
I was here weeks ago and I miss it! Surprisingly good house coffee, great customer service and good food. So good that my friends and I came back the next day for lunch. They need to open a Chick-A-Dee's in Chicago, it will give Huck Finns and Hollywood Grill a run for its $.
They charge extra separate charge for each thing if u order food to go. I ordered two roast turkey tom dinners that should have been 8.99 each and i got charged a little over thirty dollars and it happened everytime when i got other prior numerous orders to go before that were different meals. On a positive note the food is good, excellent ribs, and the owners are friendly. However, the last time i was there the waitress walked past me three times with her coffee pot and didn't refill my empty coffee mug.
The food saved the day. The fried chicken was fabulous. The vegetable beef soup was good. Décor is the wrong word to use to describe this restaurant. If they put their furniture up for auction, they'd not get a bid. It's a real dump. Service was very nice. Prices were very low. It's ok for the food, but not much else.

Hayden’s Crossing - Blind Mule Bar

107 N Water St
Wilmington, 60481
Reviews:
We were down in Wilmington today (grandma lives there) and got hungry. My mom suggested Hayden's Crossing. Wilmington isn't exactly known as a culinary destination, but Hayden's has started to change that. It's decorated like an old barn, and is very rustic, but not the least bit "country or frilly". There is a wall running down the middle of the room, separating the bar from the restaurant area - something I wish more establishments would do. While we were in the restaurant area, I did peek into the bar area and it was really nice - flat screen tvs, nice atmosphere, and the entire place is completely spotless. I can't remember the last time I saw a resturant/bar so friggin clean! You'd think they just opened the doors for the first time this morning. The service was amazing. A friendly young girl took our drink order less than 30 seconds after we sat down, and they were in hand not more than 30 seconds after that. The food was outstanding as well. We had the Pub Sticks for an appetizer. YUM!!! Think something like an egg roll stuffed with what we concluded was a mixture of spinach/artichoke dip and loads of mozzarella cheese, some garlic thrown in and served with grated parmesan on top. Hubby had the Black & Blue burger and he said it was awesome - ate every last bit of that 1/2 behemoth. I had the Pub Burger with White Cheddar which is just your standard burger with the usual toppings, but it was outstanding... juicy, cooked perfectly, and oh so yummy. My kid ordered a hot dog, and I believe it was served on garlic bread - or at least a french roll. Either way, he said it was great. The fries were awesome too. According to mom, their soups are also great, as are their salads - many of which we saw being served. On our way out we overheard another patron who was passing through town and stopped for a bit to eat, talking to the owner. The compliments on the food & service were nonstop, and I later agreed with him on everything he said. Too bad there isn't a place like this closer to Chicago! Quick, friendly service and great food. We'll definitely be back!

Aj’s Hot Dogs & Gyros

250 W Baltimore St
Wilmington, 60481
Reviews:
How can one place with good locations get it so wrong? I've been to the New Lenox and Crest Hill locations several times in my life and the Wilmington AJ's is 5 steps below either of these. Maybe it's just fond memories of days past, but I remember AJ's as being good quality, short order food. This place is not. It's average at best. The gyro is greasy and bland, the fries are soggy, and if the cashiers could shut up and stay off their phones for more than 5 seconds, you might actually feel like you're a customer. I think it's Wilmington. There is something in the water that taints everything in a very bad way. Do yourself a favor. If you want AJ's, hit up another location. If you want a good gyro close by, check out the gyro shack in Joliet.
I grew up near the other AJ's location in New Lenox. So it's nice to be near one of these places again. The food is pretty good! Excellent fries always cooked to perfection. The gyros are what I usually come here for. They are excellent! There is pretty much a full menu with anything from hotdogs and burgers to pizza puffs and mexican food.
Food here is pretty good but nothing to write home about. Huge problem lies with the staff, which is primarily made up of surly teenagers. I have been coming here on average about once a month for a while now, back to when it used to be Karoles Patio. The service is about as bad as it comes. Average drive through wait is at least 15 minutes, tonight was 24 minutes ( for 2 gyros). You can celebrate a birthday or two in the time it takes to get food through the drive through, it's although they don't even think about starting your food until you reach the window. If you go ahead and call in an order, you will still wait at least 15 minutes. Again, i'm pretty sure that no food was started until after I asked about it after waiting for about 10 minutes. At least they keep a good selection of newspapers on the counter, you are gonna need them. Last time I dined in, the two young girls "working" there straight up ignored me for at least 2-3 minutes, while having a conversation and texting. I would recommend this place if you don't mind sitting around waiting and waiting for your order, and getting a free side of attitude from the 17 year olds working there. If the management ever got serious about the service, this place would be a real gem in the rough, and not just decent because it is in Wilmington, with no other good options.
