My omelet was decent, but nothing to write home about. After they folded in the cheese and microgram worth of spinach, it went straight to the plate. Not enough time for the cheese to melt made it more like eating scrambled eggs with a side of diced cheese. Pancakes were good, though they weren't very hot. I really liked the crispy hash browns Service was speedy and friendly.

First time here and food was very good! I like the location because it's in the heart of downtown Wheaton. Service was friendly and prompt. Only bad part of my first meal here was cold toast, but they were happy to fix that for me. I suggest having them warm your butter since it was served cold and was not easy to spread over the delicious and hot pancakes. Prices were average to high... breakfast for 2 was $21 not including tip. I'm not complaining because it seems as though they serve quality products. I'm looking forward to eating there again and eating on the outdoor sidewalk tables when the weather gets better.

I just got back from breakfast at the Wheaton Town Square location and it was terrible. This was my second try after having a bad experience right after they opened. The first time my husband and I received lousy service but they were busy..also I remember burned bacon and telling the waitress who apathetically asked if I wanted her to get me a replacement order. Really it was a no-brainer. Today I went with my girlfriend and there were maybe ten people there but the service was slow. Our waitress got my friends order wrong and when my friend complained to the manager he acted like he didn't know what to do. My frittata was almost inedible. There were fossilized potatoes that made a sound when you dropped them on to the plate. Needless to say I ate the English muffin which was fine and did not take any leftovers home. Then when we went to pay the scary overly made up for 10AM lady short changed us ten dollars!!! Never again.

Cute little restaurant on a corner. Food generally comes out in a timely manner and portions are very desirable. Service is not always that great, god forbid you don't look like a wheatoner, you might not get the over top service you deserve. Overall the food and experience is good, but it's always crowded in there also. Def worth a try, hands down.

I only wish the food was as good as the menu makes it sound. After two visits I have come to the conclusion that this is an OK breakfast place but nothing to get too excited about. The flavors run from bland to acceptable. My Huevos Rancheros lacked kick and my Crabmeat Benedict (forget the real name) was passable. The dish was saved by some really nice potato pancakes. There's usually a big crowd on weekends and they close at 3pm. I can't say I'll wait in line again.

We came here one week on a whim, and it was very tasty. However, subsequent visits proved disappointing. If you must, stick to the bare bones breakfast basics... the more exotic dishes are generally a let-down.

Awhile back I would have given this place five stars however over time the food has gone from great to just ok. I do suggest you grab one of their yummy mints on the way out. The location is great and the service fine. Unfortunately, I don't have as many wonderful things to say about it as I once did . . . it is what it is I guess!

  • Patricia K.

When it comes to location, this place has prime placing. We enjoyed our booth that overlooked the streets of downtown Wheaton. And I certainly would bestow bonus points for delicious chocolate mints at the cashier. However, there were a few points to critique. For instance, my eggs (over easy) were very wet and perhaps not cooked long enough. The crepes were a bit of a departure from what I am used to but certainly had good flavoring and were overall a success. The service was spotty. There were a few times when a very quick request took more than 10 minutes to fulfill. (ie, coffee, water)

I thought this place was great. Worlds beyond Egg Harbor in terms of choices. The had some innovative stuff on their menu that you don't feel like a bluehair ordering. I had the Bacon Quesadilla. My wife had the shroom scram or somesuch, and really liked it. The Child's griddle plate is a hell of a lot of food for $3.99. A Pancake, probably 3 eggs, a bacon strip and a hot dog-sized sausage link. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

There are 2 locations, the one one Hale and another in Old Town Square (Naperville Rd, north of Butterfield) that I go to now. Sick if the same old breakfast? I was, until I found this gem. It's definitely a step above your typical breakfast/lunch joint. The food is consistently above average, healthy and not so healthy variety that goes beyond your standard fare and 95% of the time a super friendly and efficient staff. But hey, no one's perfect. Yes, you might have to wait a bit on Sat or Sun after 9:30 as half of DuPage county knows how good these places are, so plan accordingly.

Been coming here forever, great food, but the service can sometimes be crappy, it depends on your waiter/waitress.

Great service, and the menu and decor are lifted straight from Egg Harbor Cafe. Unfortunately, the food is somewhat lacking. Everything is a little cheaper than Egg Harbor, but I'd rather pay $1 more and love my food than have something so-so. Omelettes and skillets are good, but not great. I like the sidewalk seating, but that's all that really stands out here for me.

  • Robyn C.

A 2.5 rating...in "downtown Wheaton", its just about the only place to go for breakfast. Good food overall, but if you have no fear of cholesterol the skillets are the best (bacon and onion lovers, I'm talking to you) and the avocado omelette is fab also. Portions are large. Shortcomings...the toast is always cold. Always. Sometimes the potatoes are too. We've been there multiple times and found the service is just so-so. No matter what time of the day we're there, the waitresses seem to love to congregate behind the counter and talk, talk, talk. You have to throw a flare to get a coffee refill. Ironically, they stand and talk right in front of the coffee station, which is right there also, but there seems to be a disconnect... I didn't think the prices were that bad, but one day we were walking out and an older couple who had just moved to Wheaton asked if there was any other place to have breakfast...they found the prices to be too expensive. We gave them other options away from the "downtown" (cough) area. May be expensive to some, I found it about standard. If you want to try it, watch the local "Mr. Coupon" envelope for 10% off.

My wife and I go here most Saturdays and absolutely love it. The food is always great and in my opinion, pretty reasonable.

"Egglectic is the happening breakfast spot for Wheatonites. It bills itself as a breakfast stop with some lunch options on the side; many diners continue to order the breakfast choices after noon. Fritatta skillet dishes like the Blue Bayou (eggs, bleu cheese, spinach, bacon and tomatoes) are big favorites, as are the specialty French toast dishes, like pecan-roll and banana-bread French toast. The lunch crowd also orders the pecan Dijon salad, wrap sandwiches and melts. This place gets packed on weekends, so expect a wait if you show up on a Saturday or Sunday mornings after 9 a.m. You'll sit amongst Wheaton College students in their pajamas, book club members chatting about their latest read and families with kids of all ages." - Chicago Tribune's Metromix

I had a good experience here today. Went for a Thursday afternoon lunch around 12:30 p.m. with a party of 8, including 4 kids. Got a table lickity split. Waitress was friendly and patient. The food was pretty good, not out of this world but filling and satisfying. The decor is cute and country. I'll try it again, but will avoid weekends as it seems other Yelpers have had wait time issues.

A good breakfast makes me really happy.Town Square Mall in Wheaton and I frequent that one more because it's closer to home. Good overall choices and nice service. I do wish the dishes were a bit tastier though.

  • Blair S.

Just barely average. They have a great location, otherwise I think they would have gone away years ago. A real shame some effort is not put into the food? I have tried it over and over hoping for a better experience, but no luck. There is a certain group in Wheaton who think this place is good, but I guess their standards are compromised? Try Red Apple, ten times better.

Okay, I've given this place three tries now and each time it was atrocious! How hard is it to screw up breakfast?! One time the toast was totally black yet they still brought it to the table! The next time the food was cold and the last time it was a combo of both - cold food and burned cold toast! Come on folks!

My biking friend and I often ride out to Wheaton from Oak Park on Sunday mornings for breakfast at Egglectic. We love the service (Julie is wonderful!) and the food has always been very good. In fact, the portions are large enough that we usually split the plate. We've sat both inside and outside, both areas are very nice. Regardless of our biking clothes, we are promptly seated and served. The omlettes are delicious.

My husband and I went here for breakfast yesterday and we were very dissapointed. The service and the atmosphere was all good but the food was terrible! Overcooked, very dry eggs. It was so overcooked that there was no taste at all. I literally could not taste anything except the hot sauce I put on the food to try and get it down. Neither my husband nor I felt like finishing our meals. When my husband said something on the way out, the hostess said they had hired new cooks so that may be why. I don't care what the reason is we got ripped off here! There are so many breakfast places that are much better. We won't be back, ick.

My boyfriend and myself have eaten breakfast here twice and were very pleased with the food both times. The menu has so many choices to chose from! Excellent pancakes and skillets! The portion size is very generous as well :)

Yuck. How is this place so busy? The service was at best, mediocre, and the food? Yuck yuck yuck. it was some of the nastiest food I (barely) ate....we had a coupon but the total was still almost $50.00....for breakfast, with my kids SHARING a meal! I wouldn't go here again even if they paid ME to eat here. How it is so busy is something I will never complrehend. Egg Harbor, you're still the one!

I love the atmosphere of this place. It's very casual and clean. They have got a big selection for breakfast and brunch and all looked very appetizing to me. My omelette with artichoke hearts was huge; they must have used at least 5 eggs or so. The taste was decent. However, this is not the kinda place that I would visit very often.

I am surprised that this breakfast cafe got a so-so rating because I really like this place for breakfast. I don't go there often, but in summer, it is located right off the Prairie Path so we'll usually stop and have breakfast there on the way home from a bike ride. I think that they have a good variety of menu items here, from the sinfully nasty but tasty skillets to heart healthy but actually good menu items. I've always found the servers to be nice and attentive, and I'm sure that it's tough at times because when we are here we are usually splattered with gnats because we've been biking and quite sweaty. Only downfall is that they do not serve booze, so you can't get a Bloody Mary for breakfast.

Kiddie-corner to Shane's deli, Egglectic is another great option for breakfast or lunch in downtown Wheaton. The first couple of times I was here, the wait for our food was about 30 minutes - a bit slow for lunch. Also, our non-smiling server had way too many tables and it was impossible to get his attention. Today our food came out in a very reasonable amount of time but the server (who, like previous servers, quite obviously did not want to be there) brought my friend the wrong salad. When she asked the server about it, the server didn't apologize or offer to bring the correct salad. Granted, my friend did offer on her own to keep it, but I thought an apology would still have been appropriate. If you come during lunch, you may have to wait a few minutes for a table - even longer if you want to sit outside. Don't let the service here keep you away though, the food is worth a visit!

This is one of my favorite breakfast/lunch places to eat! My husband and I have been going here for about 6 or 7 years I would say. We go on occasion if he has a day off during the week or sometimes on the weekend if we don't mind waiting a few minutes, because it gets pretty busy. I almost always get the vegetarian omelet with egg whites and it comes with a dollop of sour cream on the top and I add swiss cheese which is always perfectly melted! This is one of my favorite omelets ever!! so moist and delicious! And my husband usually gets, I think it's called the Chuckwagon skillet or omelet, can't remember. And that comes with ham, bacon, sausage, peppers, onions, cheese and is topped with sausage gravy! *Clearrr* Oh sorry, I was just rescuing my husband from cardiac arrest after eating that! Seriously...it is so bad but SO good!! =] The service has always been quick and very good, which is why we keep coming back for more!

wonderful place. much better than the location in town square. a very eclectic menu, and delicious food. the best place for breakfast or lunch in wheaton or glen ellyn. we usually try to get patti for our waitress. she's excellent, and extremely nice.

Egg'lectic Cafe is a small breakfast oriented restaurant located off of Hale Street in downtown Wheaton. There are just a handful of tables available and the place has a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. In walking in I was immediately greeted by a hostess and was then seated. Within a few moments I had zeroed in on exactly what I wanted to order and as soon as I closed the menu and placed it on the table a waitress was on her way to take my order. I tried the countryside skillet, while it was a little smaller than most places skillets it tasted great, the eggs were done just right and the amount of meat was exactly what I expected. I also got pancakes with the skillet which were nice and fluffy and a fine compliment to the skillet I had. Overall both the food and service here was excellent, I give it four stars.

The workers here couldn't be nicer. My mom and I were running late for an apt at The Dress across the street, but both of us were already feeling a little hangry. We needed food stat, and we were already 5 minutes late to the apt. My mom ran inside and asked if they do take out: perfect, they are more than happy to accommodate us. She ordered two quick BLTs, but the princess in me had to speak up and say that I didn't like bacon and didn't want a BLT. (I know, I know. I get crap for not liking bacon all the time.) So they quickly changed my order to a turkey club (which ended up being HUGEEEE) and my mom nommed on her BLT before we migrated across the street. They took our payment ASAP, offered us drinks and water, even though we had already paid, and made sure that we had everything we needed. They were all so accommodating and friendly...if I lived out that way, I'd visit again just to say thank you!

The worst. Told 10-15 mins for a table. 25 mins later, ignored. 30 mins, "table's almost ready". 40 mins, "we're clear in a table". 50 mins, "we're waiting for that table in the corner to leave. We don't have any other options for a table for 6." "Can't you push 2 tables together?" "We'll try." 55 mins, we left. Not sure if the food is good, but the front of the house has no idea how to manage tables.

The menu is full of unusually delicious items not typically found in most breakfast restaurants. The waitstaff are quick, attentive and always friendly. Even when the place is busy, the wait is short. Highly recommend the cornflake crusted French toast. So good it's bordering on ridiculous!!

CREPES! Soooo yummy in my tummy. A good friend of mine absolutely loves coming here for brunch. We've been here a couple times and neither experience has disappointed me. This restaurant is located on a somewhat busy intersection of downtown Wheaton, so parking might take awhile (downtown Wheaton is always packed). Yet, we never have to wait for a table in one of the two quaint rooms of the restaurant. Both spaces are spacious and comfortable --- I don't think we've bothered the other diners with our loud voices (hopefully). My usual breakfast/brunch dish is a vegetarian omelet or skillet, but here? CREPES! They're arranged beautifully on the plate, absolutely scrumptuous, and pretty generous. The Kiwi Crepe is my favorite. I believe it usually comes with cream cheese on top, but I dislike cream cheese and ask them to omit it. YUM. I've also tried the pumpkin pancakes -- delicious! Drooling right now just thinking about the food here.... (it's 7:30am and I haven't eaten breakfast yet, so..... yeah). Servers are hit or miss. We've had a waitress that completely ignored us during the entire meal, and a waitress that was very attentive. Our meal arrives after a reasonable wait and food prices are pretty good, too. No complaints. Hope to come back next time I'm in town for an extended stay! Ohhh, crepes!

I came here on a rainy Saturday morning for brunch and the line was almost out the door but we were seated within 15-20 minutes. However, the service is SO SLOW. We stared at our waitress for a good 10 to 15 minutes before she actually noticed us. Our waitress seemed like she was very flustered and had trouble multi-tasking. I split the chicken spinach gruyere crepe (grilled chicken strips, sautéed fresh spinach, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, blended with Gruyere cheese and topped with Hollandaise sauce) and lean machine omelette (egg-white omelette with chipotle chicken sausage, fresh mushrooms and green onions, served with sliced tomatoes, and salsa) with the bf. The omelette itself was on the smaller side and slightly bland but I enjoyed the flavorful crepe. There's a coupon found on the website: egglecticcafe.net/media/…

Delicious! We had a breakfast sandwich, which was generous in portion. The frosted flake French toast, delicious! The Swedish pancakes were amazing! The menu had such Variety that it was hard to chose.

I love me my eggs benny and I'm always excited when I see something a little different. They have a lobster and asparagus eggs benny and I knew I had to try it. I kinda was thinking they were gonna skimp out on the lobster since it was only around $12 and it's some little breakfast joint in Wheaton - but they did not! There was a ton of lobster and a ton of asparagus which really made it a killer eggs benny. I swapped my country potatoes or whatever they call them for hash browns...even though their hash browns weren't that great either. Still definitely worth it to try out this eggs benny, I would go back and have this again. They also have a cute little diner style bar you can sit at which I wouldn't mind doing next time!

A very cozy place to wake up with some coffee and breakfast! The menu is very large and spans many flavors and combinations. Try the Pomegranate Orange Juice! The Hale Street location fits right in with the historic downtown Wheaton feel. Definitely a place worth frequenting!

I adored my breakfast here, just adored it. It's a nice roomy place with two separate areas. The tables are nicely spaced away from each other and as a result, you can be comfortable and talk to each other. I ordered the Crunchy French toast combo with juice and coffee. Everything was great but the French toast, oh my the French toast. It was simply divine. I don't live near Wheaton but I wish I did because I cannot wait to have that dish again. Hmmm, what excuse can I come up with to have breakfast in Wheaton?

  • J G.

Go to the other breakfast place. Let me tell you why. The "homemade" hash would taste better from a can. The cheese tastes and looks like it was from a cellophane. Bland. Low quality. The service is good, though.

After reading numerous reviews as well from other sites. Hubby and I decided to give this place a try and we wasn't disappointed. The food=chicken sausage breakfast skillet, pumpkin pancakes, cinnamon roll french toast combo was all delish. Prices were affordable and very good customer service.

My favorite breakfast place in Wheaton. Lisa loves the pumpkin pancakes, but let's get real here and talk about what really matters. Cinnamon Roll French Toast! Not just any kind of cinnamon Roll French Toast... but the real deal. If you've ever had it at Egg Harbor down the street.. forget about it! It's like comparing finger painting to the Mona Lisa. I can't just rest with the CRFT... I have to get the combo (two sausages, two pieces of bacon ...you can have all bacon if you prefer... two eggs and I get a side of potatoes) Yes, it's a lot of food. But! Cinnamon Roll French Toast Day is like a national holiday for me and I intend to make the most of it. The also have pecan roll french toast... but I'm stuck in a groove of cinnamony goodness and not looking for alternatives just yet. Lisa also loves their omelettes, particularly the California omelette. It's nice to sit outside on appropriate weather days but the interior restaurant ambiance is a winner too. On a side note.. I've found the location in town square to be a bit lacking. The atmosphere isn't the same and the bacon has been limp the few times I've been here... still good.. just a bit of a step down.

Classic breakfast joint. Not greasy, which I really appreciate! Coffee is good, omelets and waffles are reliably tasty, and the bill is fair. Avoid weekend mornings and you'll be happier!

Contrary to other reviews, I've never had really great food here. There's always something off about whatever I've ordered (usually of the waffle/pancake variety). Too dry, too sweet, not enough of a topping or sauce. With that said, this is my go-to brunch destination. The atmosphere is PERFECT! I've sat at one of those window booths with a friend for hours. Service is great and friendly. Good cup of coffee. Overall, I love Egg'lectic.

We come here often, because it's so convenient. We love the charm of the location, right in town where there is plenty to see and do. The food is good. To me, it has never been impressive (neither positively nor negatively impressive). Pancakes, French toast, and egg dishes are all as you'd expect. Actually, I do remember having one thing I really didn't like...cornflake French toast (or something like that), ick. Today I had the bacon and egg quesadilla, which was tasty although shaped more like a burrito than a traditional quesadilla. The servers are always friendly. At times, I would appreciate speedier water and coffee refills. We love the availability of outdoor dining when the weather is nice. We probably wouldn't pick this over Red Apple or Butterfields if it weren't for the location, but we keep going back and will continue to do so, because Hale St is pretty much the center of the universe.

Best breakfast place I have ever been hands down! My favorite thing about this place is the unique spin they take on breakfast with cinnamon roll french toast, banana bread french toast and several other variations of pancakes and french toast options. You will not be sorry ordering the banana bread french toast that is my favorite but any of the p ankcakes/french toast options are a good choice. And I love that they have combos so you don't have to choose between the classic eggs and meat or french toast. You can get both! And the portions are huge! My husband raves about the omelettes here! They are again huge and come loaded with toppings of your choice. They are the best omelettes I have ever eaten as well. If you are in the area this is a place you wont regret check in out. And in the summer they have outdoor seating that allows you to enjoy the charm of downtown Wheaton.

  • Dani B.

The food is delicious and reasonably priced. They have quite a few gluten-free options, which makes this a good place for anyone following a gluten-free diet, or those with mild celiac disease (keep in mind that cross-contamination with wheat products is possible). Our waitress was very friendly and quick despite it being quite busy. The atmosphere isn't half bad. It looks relatively new (especially in comparison to other places in downtown Wheaton), and is quite spacious. My only complaint would be that because of the use of a lot of hardwood, it can get quite loud when it's quite busy, but otherwise the sound level isn't too bad.

I love this place. It's in the heart of downtown Wheaton (which has changed since I graduated from high school in 2007). One of my old English teachers' parents own this place. I've gone here so much over the years living in Wheaton. Now that I don't live in Wheaton, I don't go as much. Whenever I am back in the area, I usually stick to Red Apple Pancake House about 5 minutes north of this place. They have the best omelets and service at RA, but I digress. This place has awesome big windows. It's usually hopping on weekend mornings (especially Sunday...you better wear your church clothes or else you will get the death stare). The service has always been hit or miss (miss today), but for the prices you get what you pay for! Plus I get the 10% off for being a Wheaton Sportscenter member. I am also an Egglectic Frequent Flyer or whatever you want to call it. Not sure what that will do for me since I live about two hours south, but I gave my name anyway. When I go to Egglectic...the ONLY thing I would give this place is that they know their way around a griddle. I always get pancakes. I always order their Pumpkin Pancakes with eggs, and breakfast meats. This is my BIGGEST gripe with this place. I always get Canadian bacon until two times I've been told that I could not substitute it for my sausage links. I am not a fan of sausage links. I love bacon. All shapes, sizes, and nationalities. That's why I get my Canadian and American (haha) bacon. But on more than one occasion I've been told I could not substitute. Now come on, really? It's just putting a slice of glorified ham instead of two sausage links. You're telling me I can't do that? You might get fired for doing so? I have a hard time believing that. Isn't it all about the customer? C'mon wait staff! I should say that I didn't have a problem with today's server. These are the best pumpkin pancakes ever! Cranberries and apples baked in the the batter. Sugar coma for sure! Really fluffy eggs, and excellent bacon. I recommend this place for a quick breakfast or lunch. Cheap, filling, and service is usually okay.

Great little downtown breakfast spot. It is bigger than it looks with what is basically a second dining area. Coffee and food were good, service was great and prices were very reasonable.

My dad took me, my boyfriend, and my two sisters here for brunch last weekend. We went around noon on a Sunday. The restaurant seemed packed, but we were seated with no wait. It was definitely very full and noisy! I wish it was not so loud - we actually had trouble hearing each other at our table, but I suppose it's expected for brunch on a Sunday. First off, there are sooooo many brunch options!! Eggs, skillets, pancakes, crepes, salads, sandwiches, and more! Wow. I had a hard time choosing, but I opted for the Tuscany skillet which had onions, peppers, diced potatoes, chicken sausage, and mozzarella topped with two eggs. Yum!! It came with a side option (pancakes, sausage, toast). I went with wheat toast. All in all, a very filling meal. Let's see - one sister got a strawberry-banana-kiwi crepe. Other sister got Belgium waffles with sausage links. Boyfriend got a "California" crepe (chicken, avocado, some kind of yummy dressing). Dad got some kind of "everything" omelette with cheese, veggies, sausage. We all shared a little bit of everyone's, and everything I tried was delicious! I especially liked the fruit crepe. Our waitress was obviously very busy with a full section, but she remained fairly attentive throughout our meal. Three of us got coffee, and she always made sure our cups were full. Much appreciated! I am a coffee addict. Next time I am in town, I would definitely come back!

We love egg'lectic!! We are fans of the breakfast menu any time of day. Very fast service. We took out of town family for the first time and they loved it! Any of the skillets are delicious. The banana bread French toast is amazing.

I went to Egg'lectic Cafe twice in one weekend. I pulled a back to back Egg'lectic, I was *that* in love with the food the first time. The "other" location got 4 stars from me, this one only gets 3. Why? Food was great at both places. Server was good at both places. Taking away a star here because of the wait for a table. We were trying to decide where to have brunch / lunch and decided to try Egg'lectic at this location. At first glance, we almost walked away because the place looked like a total mob scene. We checked with the hostess...estimated wait for a party of 5 was "no problem, less than 20 minutes". I know that predicting wait time is an inexact science, but seriously. We waited for 30 minutes and heard them tell 2 other parties that came in after us, "20 minutes or less, no problem". We wound up waiting close to 50 minutes. I checked in with the hostess twice. After 35 minutes, she said "you are the next table to be seated, any minute now". After 10 more minutes and two groups being seated ahead of us I got a shrug and a "Wow, it's busy. we appreciate your patience. Your table is being set up now". It really wasn't being set up yet because we saw the people leave a few minutes later. So basically, don't fudge it. Don't exaggerate. Let people know how long the wait *really* could be and let them decide if they'll stay or not. We would have gone someplace else if we'd been told 45 minutes or even 30 minutes. Instead we stayed just long enough that we felt like we'd invested enough time that we shouldn't leave...and I think that's what they hoped for. I get it, it's Family Weekend, it's more crowded than usual, etc., but be honest when it comes to estimated wait times.

Great place for breakfast. The food is delicious and abundant. The service is friendly and efficient and the decor is beautiful, featuring hens and roosters. My favorite dish is the Iron Man, a healthy and delicious omelet.

I went here on a beautiful Sunday morning with my boyfriend for a brunch date, which I sometimes become reluctant about doing since tons of breakfast restaurants tend to serve unhealthy options, but I soon realized after viewing the extensive menu, that Egg'lectic Cafe did not fit into that category. There were tons of options for the healthy eater, and they actually sounded good, not just a bowel of yogurt and granola, but actual substantial meals. I chose the vegetarian egg white omelet with fruit and the egg whites were cooked perfectly, they were not bland, nor did I find myself picking at my food (as I do when I am disappointed in what I ordered). My boyfriend had the pumpkin stuffed french toast and the egg sandwich (there were so many options that he could not pick between one or the other, so he got both!) and he was crazy for the pumpkin stuffed french toast. He did enjoy the egg sandwich, but he recommends that the sandwich be served with a different type of bread. Overall, the experience was great, we even had a very engaging conversation with our server. The decor was a little tacky, and reminded me of Egg Harbor Cafe. I am not sure which one was built first, but it would be nice to enter a restaurant where they did not have so many hens and roosters around.

Went here for the first time on Sunday for mother's day lunch, so naturally it was packed. The atmosphere is pretty nice; it's casual, good for kids, and the cute decor they have going on is nice to look at. My only complaint is that the tables are packed pretty closely together, so you're better off going with a smaller group. The food was great though! I had a health nut omelette and fresh fruit; it was delish! Perfectly cooked, nice and fluffy! My mom enjoyed her eggs benedict as well. The service was very nice as well; our waitress was very polite! Surprisingly, we didn't wait that long for our either, despite how crowded it was. We will definitely be back!

Met a friend for lunch during the week. The waitress was snotty. She kept coming over asking us if we were ready to order. Clearly, we were not. I ordered the Waldorf Chicken Salad. It was tasteless and bad. My friend's baby started crying and not loudly. We got a dirty look from the waitress! The waitress took her tip from the table before we left. Incredibly rude! Will not be back.

Great place...in town to visit my girlfriend in Chicago and we stopped by the suburbs for some great brunch. Servers were friendly and quick...coffee was hot and fresh. Food was incredible, large portion for great price. I had 3 egg build yourself omlette woth fruit and english muffins my gf had 2 sunny eggs and frenchtoast with sausage and bacon. Great price will be back for sure when im in town!

I've been here once and it was a great experience. Great service and great breakfast food! I got the California omelet and it was sooooo good. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone and I will certainly be back soon. The lack of one star was due to the coffee... Such a great breakfast joint should definitely invest the extra few bucks and invest in some good coffee! Theirs is NOT good. But everything else is great, still a fan (clearly).

I've been here several times, and maybe I've just been lucky...or ordered correctly...but I've always had really good food here, and the service has always been fantastic. Prices seem fair for the location in downtown Wheaton. Yes, it can get crazy busy on weekends...but so can every other breakfast place. Either come early, come late, prepare to wait, or cook your pancakes at home. My most recent visit consisted of the Swedish crepes with bacon and a very friendly server. It was absolutely covered in berries that provided kicks of both sour and sweet. Other experiences with french toast, pancakes, and omelets have been equally delicious. Needless to say, I'll definitely keep coming back when I am in town.

Family favorite! We love to go here almost every other Sunday for breakfast. It's a great family/neighborhood place and they have great food. The Florentine Benedict is my favorite. My girls love the hot choc and pancakes, go figure. Everyone is so friendly and makes us feel very welcome!!

Been here a few times since my first review. They are consistently inconsistent, but I keep going back, so they're doing something right. Breakfast food is very good. Portions aren't gigantic, but you will be filled up. Prices are very reasonable. I usually order an omelette with pancakes. There was a time when I ordered a BLT, and that was good too. The problem isn't the food; it is the service. There's a 50/50 split. Some waitresses are great: very attentive, talkative, and upbeat. My past two experiences have been the opposite. The waitresses have looked at me or one of my dining partners as if we were crazy when we asked for things repeatedly. Forgetfulness is not a trait to be desired for a server. Also, substiutions should not be difficult. Even when we acknowledge an up charge, some of the waitresses still won't make them. what the heck? Most of the waitresses here are great, but there are a select few who need to get the stick out of their you know what.

Went into Wheaton today to check their French Market out and also wanted to get a bite to eat. Found this place while looking for a place to park and was curious, so decided to try it. It was a good choice...was greeted by someone when I walked in and was immediately seated. Decided on a build your own skillet with mushrooms, tomatoes, and ham....along with a side of English Muffins (a good thing when they offer you the choice of pancakes, toast, or English Muffin with your eggs). It was a good amount of food and nothing was too overpowering. Coffee was decent as well (and free refills, always a good thing). I know I won't be in Wheaton often but if the opportunity arises and I'm there during the day, you bet I'll go here again for a good meal.

Had another great experience here as usual. This place has the best brunch menu I've ever read through. I want to keep coming back just so I can try more of their diverse menu options. I would recommend the crêpes to any first time customer, as they are the best I've ever had. Everything thing I have ever ordered from this place is nothing short of delicious.

I love this place. It reminds me of a great country restaurant somewhere in the deep south. The staff is great and super attentive. The second time I was there the waitress remembered me and showed me pictures of her kids. I have never actually sat inside this place beacuse they have great outdoor seating. The staff is so awesome that you don't even have to let them know you're outside! They come right out and help you out before you even have a chance to go in and let them know you and your party will be dinning outside. Ok so let's get down to business....THE FOOD! The food is great! I'm not a huge crepes fan. I may induldge in a savory crepe thing every once in a great while, but usually breakfast crepes from chain breakfast places taste weird so I usually just don't do it. But the last time I went the waitress suggested I give theirs a try. And since I already seen her kids I figured she was a trustworthy person (insert smile here) and boy was she right! I'm in love with their strawberry banana crepes! They are everything that's right with the world all wrapped up and topped with yummy fruit. I'm alsoo not a fan of breakfast sausage, but I wouldn't dare fo to this place and not induldge in the sausage links and chipotle sausage. Matter fact I'm drooling just thinking about it! If crepes and pork aren't your thing they have an awesome waffle with lowfat yogurt and berries that will rock your world! And all this nestled in peaceful downtown wheaton. Definitly worth the 20 minute ride.

I can't complain about the quality of food here. I come most often for brunch, and they have so many options for breakfast food! I usually get something different every time. Their lunch options are pretty decent too, though a bit more limited than I'd like. Since I like me some breakfast-for-lunch, though, that doesn't concern me too much. I'd eat here all the time, except for one problem: the food is WAY overpriced. Just a cup of coffee is over 2 dollars (i.e., more than even Starbucks charges). Sure, you get refills every now and then, but the coffee doesn't taste all that great--certainly, not good enough to justify the price tag. And the food is just as expensive. Even an extremely basic meal--say, 2 scrambled eggs with toast and bacon--comes out to about 7 bucks with tax (and that doesn't count a decent tip, which would take it close to $10). Again, the food's not bad, but it's not nearly good enough to justify such pricing. You could make it just as well yourself for a fraction of the cost. Again, I like everything else about the place--the staff is friendly, the atmosphere nice, and the food decent--but I always come away feeling like I've been gouged by the check. It's a great place for an occasional Saturday breakfast, but too expensive for me to afford coming regularly.

I'm giving 4 stars: 5 stars for my great experience today, but 3 stars for my half dozen other times I've been there in the past when the service wasn't great. But I think they are working on it! Today I had the pumpkin pancakes- delicious! They have apples and cranberries (seemed like Craisins) inside, topped with cinnamon and served with whipped butter. I got the combo with the eggs, sausage and bacon. Their sausage is some of the best I've tasted. The food was the perfect temperature. I think their menu is great- good variety, with healthy choices for those so inclined (not me- I usually get the cinnamon roll french toast!) They have a coupon online for 10% off and also a frequent diner card. Our server was excellent today. She checked back several times, was friendly and just a little chatty, and offered my friend a to go cup for her iced tea and even brought a new lemon- very thoughtful. Great customer service today! One of the drawbacks is that this restaurant can get very loud. My friend says she never feels bad bringing her two young kids to eat here because it's always so loud already. :) After today I think I'll visit this place more often!

I love this place, my second attempt at an American breakfast (being an Englishman abroad) and it was out standing. Friendly staff who are extremely polite and helpful without being over powering. The skillets are to die for, fresh well cooked and very tasty. Very fair prices for the food served I can't sell this place highly enough!!! I've tried numerous eateries since I arrived and have had some bad experiences with them but I always remember Egg'Lectic and it reminds me that food in the US can be really good at the right place.

Simply the best breakfast/lunch place in the Wheaton/Glen Ellyn area. Get the same thing for breakfast every time------every time it is done perfect. Service is super. When I walk in the door Julie brings my ice tea. She takes very good care of me. Great food, service, location and people!!!!!! GO it is worth your while. Prices are very reasonable compared to other restaurants of this type.

Egg'lectic always has some tasty food, the service is ok, but they are always packed. The food gets 4 stars. They have a good selection to choose from on the menu. I don't think I've ever been disappointed in a meal at Egg'lectic. The pancakes are good, eggs are always cooked right, and the omelet's are yummy. The service is just ok. Nothing special, but nothing bad either. I always feel like I need to flag down a waitress, but they get so busy, I wouldn't count that against them. Unless you want to wait for a while make sure you get here early. They get really busy on the weekends, which means they are doing something right at least.

This is one of my very favorite breakfast places in the 'burbs. I have never had a bad meal. My biggest problem is deciding what to order from their vast list of options. I have not ordered any of their lunch things because I can't get past breakfast. Top favorite- California omelette. Who knew avocado and garlic (plus cheese and other good stuff) in eggs was the greatest combo?!? Portions are large- share. Coffee is only okay, because I'm a freak about my coffee- I just have it at home. Who cares you're thinking- just order a fresh squeezed juice and get over yourself. Well I do!! Yes there is a long wait if you get here at the wrong time. Plan your visit on a Sunday while church is in session otherwise you'll wait. Yes sometimes the service isn't being your best friend. Have you ever served breakfast on Saturday or Sunday to a packed house with everyone wanting to talk your ear off or demanding refills while you're in the weeds? I do. It's not fun.

We lvoe this place. Its a breakfast favorite for my whole family. We try and go every Sunday. Gets a little crowded at peak times, but that's because its popular. Egg'lectic Cafe is always extremely busy. It's teeming with people in the foyer and just outside the door, waiting for the host to beckon them to their chosen table. I actually always get excited whenever they call my party's name, that is until I remember that I'll be eating at Egg'lectic. Besides a few fruity waffle dishes and their delicious sides of bacon, the rest of their menu is bland and ill-prepared. Stay away from the regular and breakfast burgers as well; I've ordered them three times and each time, it's been severely undercooked. If you tell the waitstaff your burger is undercooked, they won't stick it back on the grill. They will microwave it - it's happened twice. The atmosphere is actually pretty vibrant and loud. It's located on a well-traveled intersection of downtown Wheaton. It's got very high visibility and name recognition so it's got a lot of appeal in that way. It's tough to find close-proximity parking on the streets but there is a parking garage about a block away that always has spaces. Oddly enough, I've found that if you don't dress in your "Sunday best," you won't get treated as well nor will they place you at a nice table. This isn't completely anecdotal either, I've been dragged here often enough to experiment. Contact me if you'd like abstracts of my findings. I hate to compare eating at Egg'lectic to a bad job interview but if you decide to go, dress nicely and prepare to get grilled (or is it microwaved?).

I just went here recently on a Sunday and we had a bigger party. We called ahead and didn't have to wait. Our server took our order yet somehow forgot to take my brothers order. This is really the only reason that I am docking a star. He had to get up and tell her what he wanted. The majority of us ordered the red velvet French toast. The cinnamon roll French toast was my favorite but I think I found out my second favorite. Although it is sweet, it does not need syrup or anything. Overall, good experience as usual!

I have eaten at this particular Egg'lectic Cafe probably a half-dozen times. Today (May 23rd) was by far my worst experience. If you want quality breakfast food with great service, go to the Egg'lectic Cafe in Wheaton's Town Square. I got here about 11:20am and was seated promptly. Was greeted by a friendly host who said my server would be with me shortly. 7 minutes later I was approached by my waitress, Lizet. She asked what I wanted to drink and wondered if I was ready to order. I inquired about a special they must have had last month, but she said she'd ask the kitchen if they could make it. 5 minutes later my juice arrives and she says the kitchen won't make the request. Funny, she never went into the kitchen to ask. I know because I watched her walk around to other tables to check on them. Poor service. Anyways, ordered oatmeal.10 minutes later my oatmeal arrives. 10 minutes for oatmeal? Usually I get a small thing of milk offered to me when the oatmeal arrives. Lizet doesn't care nor does she ask. She comes back 10 minutes later, when I'm practically done eating and asks if everything's okay? Not wanting to be rude, I offer a half-smile. She was not a happy camper, I'm sure because she presumed since I was a singleton eating that she wouldn't get a decent tip, especially since I'd ordered only oatmeal. FYI - I always leave an awesome tip if it's deserved, no matter what I order/the total of the bill. I finish and my plate and glass are actually cleared from my table before Lizet comes to bring me my check. I leave tip and pay. When I was asked by the hostess if everything was okay, I answered yes only because I didn't want to cause a scene. Not my style. Now, I completely understand that everyone can have bad days. And there was a huge group of high school kids (probably 20) that were scattered throughout the restaurant, but they were "together" and that could have put Lizet in a sour mood. Either way, it doesn't give the right to be cold and rude towards other customers. I'll be keeping my business at the Egg'lectic Cafe in Town Square and no longer frequenting this establishment. I understand they're owned by the same people, but it makes me feel better knowing I will have quality service every time I go to the Town Square location and not the location in Downtown Wheaton,

As a Wheaton College student, this is one of those places we hear about that is a "must go to" restaurant freshman year, but by senior year I think the majority opinion is that the three stars given on Yelp is a pretty accurate. Service has been hit or miss when I have gone and I sadly feel like Goldilocks when I think about the waitresses I've had... some have been too overbearing and wouldn't leave us alone, some were never to be seen after our order was placed, and some were 'just right.' The food here is good, but not great. I normally get the bacon waffle or French toast (with nutella, yum!) and almost always leave with that full feeling everyone loves about breakfast joints leading to a food coma later that afternoon. Personally, I'd look elsewhere for a breakfast joint, but if you have tried all the others then this place is a fine establishment to see if you like the way they do things.

I've been to Egg'lectic many many times - and I always leave disappointed. I've tried different things each time I've dined here, and not once have had a great experience.. I truly WANT to like Egg'lectic because it's so close to home.. The waiting area is VERY small, so on a crowded morning- it can get real tight. Depending on the time, the waits are long and not much eating room while waiting. The service is not consistent- it's very hit or miss. We went there this morning, sat outside, and had to ask another tables' server for assistance because our waitress was nowhere to be found. Also, our particular server did nothing to engage with us or show that she had some kind of personality. For example, I asked for extra cheese with my skillet and she replies "there already is cheese on the skillet". Yes, I understand- but that's not what I asked for. Their food is very bland. Like another yelper mentioned, I wish they would put as much thought into their preparation/recipes as they do decorating the place. One thing that is nice is that with most meals, it comes with your choice of English muffin, toast, or pancakes. The resturaunt itself is nice- clean, country kitchen-like. Ample eating for a good breakfast/lunch crowd. Conclusion: go down the street to Egg Harbor! You'll get great service, delicious food, and won't be disappointed.

Definitely the best breakfast around (in the west burbs). The food is delicious. I had the crepes with a sesame seed sauce and avocados, DELICIOUS! I would go back just for that. It does get quite busy so keep that in mind. Nice for a day downtown, especially before the French market just 2 blocks away near the train tracks.

I went to Egg'lectic while running some errands in the area. Overall it was a very cute place to go for breakfast/lunch and offered some unique menu items that you don't find at every other "breakfast served all day" restaurant. The food was hot and cooked well - I had the strawberry banana crepes and all of the fruit was fresh and delicious :) The portions were more than ample, and although service wasn't necessarily personal, they were prompt and kept our drinks full - even when our server was training another server! The hostess was very nice and helpful and the ambiance has a very country/hometown kitchen feel. This isn't meant to be a restaurant with over-the-top, exotically spiced menu offerings... but if you are looking for a place to go for good, home-cooked breakfast food, I would recommend this place.

I'm just going to copy and paste my other review for the one in town square, because I've been to them both and they're all the same: The cinamon roll french toast is really good. The other food is pretty good, and, of course, I haven't tried EVERYTHING. (or even that much of anything.) The food is good, and makes a nice breakfast. Its alot like Egg Harbor, or maybe Egg Harbor is alot like it?

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. One trip here will fill you up for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The breakfast/brunch items are out of this world. In deference to my sweet tooth, I've always ordered items like pumpkin pancakes and fruit & nut Belgium waffles. The savory selections are just as delicious looking - great skillet and omelet creations. I think breakfast is the big ticket item here, but they do also serve lunch items (salads and sandwiches). The only annoying thing about Egg'lectic is the waiting. Especially on Saturdays and Sundays. This is kind of THE place to come for brunch in the area, so be prepared to wait your turn for a table. Also, it can affect the speed of the service somewhat, but understandably so.

My girlfriend and I recently enjoyed breakfast here and needless to say it was a great meal. The service was fantastic. The meal was just as good. We both ordered omelettes, mine "The Works" which is essentially meats packed with onions and mushrooms, while she got the "Health Nut", each with a side of fruit and two delicious chocolate chip pancakes. You know it's a good meal when all conversation stops when the food arrives!

Sometimes you'll find a newspaper laying around that someone left behind which is a nice pair to a cup of coffee with friends.

We have gone to this cafe for breakfast 2 times. Once about a month ago and today. We will not return. While the first time was adequate (I ordered pancakes and my husband crabcakes Benedict), this time was awful. Today I ordered sausage and biscuits (Farmhouse plate or something like that) and my husband ordered classic Eggs Benedict. His Eggs Benedict were average. Our potatoes were chunks and we prefer American fries, but this is minor. The biscuits were supposed to be home-made. Hah! The sausage gravy was DISGUSTING. It looked like square chunks of cat food in white sauce - no flavor. The waiter wanted to bring me another breakfast, but I declined. I told him that sausage gravy is supposed to be made with really good sausage that has lots of herbs and spices (a little better than Bob Evans brand) browned up really well until it is crumbly and then milk and flour stirred into the pan to make sausage gravy. The waiter brought me out more sausage gravy. There was more sausage, but one piece I bit into was COLD. So, it is obvious that they cook breakfast sausage the day before. The waiter said that the sausage they use for breakfast is "not traditional breakfast sausage". Why not, I ask? I told him that the sausage gravy was namby-pamby white bread type like you expect to find in Wheaton. I also said that if this biscuits and gravy were served in the south, the cook would be run out of town with a shotgun. The coffee is okay. Generally, you can do MUCH better at Bob Evans' or even McDonald's than this place. Locally, try Butterfield's in Danada. Prices were very high, too. Out bill was $20.50 without tip.

I've eaten here many times and it has many good qualities.... BUT... I ran into a real problem the last time I visited. Usually, we drop by on a Sunday morning, and it's busy, and if we're lucky, we get a table pretty quickly. Because I wanted to bring a party of SIX to the Café on a SUNDAY morning that also happened to be FATHER'S DAY, I called FIVE days ahead to ask if they took reservations. They cheerfully told me over the phone that they did, and I believed them. THAT WAS MY MISTAKE. No one seems to have explained to the manager/hostess that a reservation is a social contract. I show up on time with my full party ready to be seated, and you are supposed to provide a TABLE that is clean, set and waiting for me. I understand that there will be other tables that open up for two or three, and some other party that came in after me may walk right to a small table that we could not fit at.... that's fine. But why are other parties of 5 or 6 getting seated ahead of me? I HAD the reservation... if they showed up late for their reservation, that should not be my problem. I should not have to wait because I WAS ON TIME. And then, after waiting for 25 minutes, we were finally seated, but the hostess couldn't help getting in one last dig. She implied that I was mad because I had to wait two extra minutes while a very old, feeble gentlemen was escorted to his table. Um, I had no problem with that, it was the other 23 MINUTES my party and I were forced to wait when we HAD RESERVATIONS. My husband was so mad that he was ready to storm out and go to another restaurant, but we had a reservation HERE. When the waitress sees what a feeble tip he left her, I hope she asks her manager WHY WE WERE SO ANNOYED.

My favorite place to eat in college. Three times a week, I'd wake up at 9:30a, rush to my car in my sweats, drive to Egg'lectic, order the bacon waffles with an overeasy egg, scarf it down, pay my $12 bucks, then head to class by 10:30a. Oh, I'd also brush my teeth before I went to class, but taking a shower in the morning when you go to Wheaton isn't the smartest thing as you would most likely freeze to death as you walk to your car. Its so cold in the winter that if you keep your eyes open long enough, the moisture in your eyes will freeze and as you blink, a thin sheet of ice will fall out. Everything they have is good - from the skillets to the omelets, take your pick. Remember, it does get busy on the weekends which can test your patience, but they do a pretty good job of shuffling people through in the right order. Oh, fond memories of college.

The food is fabulous! There are so many good breakfast entrees to choose from that I haven't made it to the lunch items yet. They have quite a few interesting ingredient combinations that you probably won't find too often... The pumpkin pancakes with apples, cranberries and cinnamon were excellent! I was adventurous one time and tried the blueberry and cashew nut pancakes-- sounds strange, but it was remarkably good. Their egg dishes are also well prepared with a great mix of ingredients. I'm usually stuffed when I walk (or roll) away. Be prepared to wait for a table (especially on weekends)! This place is always packed on Sunday afternoons (after church). Bring a friend to chat with or a book to read because the wait is probably the most frustrating part. However, when I've gone alone I've always been able to get a single seat at their diner bar and order right away. The pace of the restaurant is FAST and FURIOUS (in a nice way) as their friendly wait staff hustle and bustle about their business of catering to their customers. I don't know how they keep up their energy! But I've never felt rushed by the staff to vacate my seat for other waiting customers. If you become a regular of the restaurant, ask about their Frequent Diner card. Also, althought their website is kind of sparse, there's a 10% discount coupon available ( egglecticcafe.net/194136… ). Egg'lectic Cafe would have received a 5-star rating from me if the wait wasn't so long at times. But, the wait is definitely worth it once you receive your food.

This review is for the restaurant in the Wheaton Town Square. My parents treated my husband and I to breakfast here one Sunday morning. It was very crowded, and we waited about 10 minutes, but I could quickly see why it was packed. It's a charming restaurant, with farm/country decor, cozy and warm. Their menu is huge, with lots of egg dishes (obviously) to choose from, along with crepes, pancakes, french toast and waffles, and salads and sandwiches. I finally settled on their California omelett (mushrooms, green onions, avocados, cheese and sour cream) with hash browns and toast. It was wonderful. A huge omelet, enough to keep you full all day! The service was good as well.

Arriving after my friends had already placed their orders, I asked our waitron for coffee and quickly scanned the menu. The prices seemed a bit high for the a simple breakfast/lunch joint. However, the muraled walls were kinda-sorta an American version of the decor at Ann Sather, a favorite breakfast/lunch restaurant on the North-side of Chicago. . Unfortunately, that's were any similarity ended. While Ann Sather has wonderfully rich-tasting, strong coffee, the beverage that Egg'lectic hyperbolically calls "Fresh Ground French Roast Coffee" was more reminiscent of dish-water -- and costs MORE than either the completely satisfying Ann Sather version, or the LARGE cold-brewed iced coffee that I love so much at Border's Cafe. Furthermore, at Ann Sather there would have been a plate of fresh-baked bread and sweet rolls to nibble on, while I waited for our waitron to take my order -- and waited even longer for my "Tomato, Basil and Asparagus Omelette" with hash browns and English muffin to arrive. How long does it take to cook an omelette, anyway? By the time my omelette did arrive, my friends were mostly finished eating; my omelette and toasted English muffin were lukewarm; but hungry as I was, I dug right in. The omelette didn't taste too bad -- the asparagus was OK, but I didn't taste any basil. There was plenty of cheese and -- some greenish cubes of some kind of plant-based something-or-other. "What are those chunky, green cubes?" I pondered, as I ate, "Yuck! Those are cubes of GREEN tomatoes!" as I discretely spat into my napkin, then picked the rest of the omelette apart to remove the unripe cubes of fruit. What were they thinking? I'm sorry, if you're in the restaurant biz and can't get ripe fresh tomatoes, you can always use either sun-dried or canned -- or you can simply "86" the menu item until you can get fresh ripe. The hash browns tasted good -- and they'd added the onions I'd requested. The omelette was so HUGE, I couldn't finish it. The check came with 2 shocks: 1) the $2.19 price for the dishwater coffee -- the good coffee at Ann Sather is only $1.95 -- and 2) they'd charged me a buck for, at most, a tablespoon of chopped onions in my hash browns. I've NEVER been charged extra for onions in my hash browns -- anywhere! (In fact, many restaurants routinely put onions in their hash browns without even asking.) If they're going to charge that much extra for a few chopped onions, shouldn't they say as much in the menu -- or shouldn't my waitron have warned me? Since my friends had to get back to work, after they settled-up with me, I alone was left to pay the check. On the way out, I let our waitron know how outraged I was to be charged a buck for a few chopped onions, especially without having been warned of the extra charge. "Not to worry," I assured her, "I took it out of your tip." In conclusion, if I never go back to Egg'clectic Cafe, I better not, if for no other reason, but over-priced bad coffee at a breakfast cafe. However, when you factor in green tomatoes, lukewarm food and inadequate service, there's no need to go back. Too bad, 'cuz I so wanted to like this place. Next time, I'll suggest we try Egg Harbor on the other side of the railroad trax; after all, they serve Intelligentsia Coffee.

I used to love this place. I'm not sure what happened, but the service got extremely slow and the food not so good. Every time I go there its really busy (I don't understand...) The only thing I do like about this place is the grapefruit juice. I don't even know if its freshly squeezed or from concentrate. It's just really good. Whenever I go there with a couple friends all of our dishes are practically inedible. A while ago I used to go to this restaurant at least once or twice a month. Now i rarely go because of my last experience. (It's been four months) Hopefully when I return, everything will be back to normal. At least they have a lot of business... D+.

I went here on a Sunday afternoon and it was packed! But with a group of 8 we only waited about 10 minutes for a table. Our waitress was very friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and split our check 8 ways with no problem. I had the bananas foster crepes which were excellent and a side of bacon - also excellent. The portions were a good size - I brought home one of my crepes. The whole table had crepes and everyone thought they were great. If you order fruit crepes here be aware that they do use canned fruit for most of the crepes (except bananas and strawberries). I would go here again.

Had another great experience here as usual. This place has the best brunch menu I've ever read through. I want to keep coming back just so I can try more of their diverse menu options.

Love this place for breakfast! They have a great selection of skillets that are totally customizable and taste good. Beyond that the staff is friendly and generally quite quick as well.

Breakfast is not delicious when you have to douse it in hot sauce. That being said it's a staple we hit the Egg' while in our hometown.

Very good breakfast. Basic breakfast classics and interesting specials. Ingredients are fresh, staff is friendly, and the prices reasonable. Can get crowded. Best to come early, or after the normal rush on the weekends.

Still a solid choice for breakfast in the area. Indifferent service, but good food. Fast turnover of tables, so it's not much of a wait.

I have eaten here alone and love to sit outside when I do. Lunch food is also good, but a great breakfast menu. The service has always been great as well.

Also, it can affect the speed of the service somewhat, but understandably so.

kind of surprised at the overall rating for this place. i thought it was great. california onelette and the salmon benedict.....some homemeade chicken sassages. all were cooked perfect. i would agree the coffee is pretty average. going to have to try egg harbor now after seeing their rating.

One of the few great places by my school. They have a nice selection of breakfast items like skillets/omlettes and pancakes ...... yummmm yummmm in my tummm tummmm. They also have a nice variety of juices. Service is nice, friendly, and quick. Sometimes you'll find a newspaper laying around that someone left behind which is a nice pair to a cup of coffee with friends.

Okay, I've given this place three tries now and each time it was atrocious! How hard is it to screw up breakfast?! One time the toast was totally black yet they still brought it to the table! The next time the food was cold and the last time it was a combo of both - cold food and burned cold toast! Come on folks!
