I had such an enjoyable meal at Davanti, I'm not sure why this was my first time eating here. First of all the staff is so nice. Our waiter, I don't remember his name but I'm terrible with names so no offense, was so chill yet so helpful and knowledgeable and smiley. I was like the first one there that Saturday afternoon at 12 meeting my mom for lunch. I had a beer while I waited and perused the menu which was fun because they have things like Ricotta and honeycomb on toast. That dish was ordered and was consumed with eyes closed while moaning. It was THAT good. We also ordered polenta and egg with veggies (awesome), mushroom/tallegio pizza (OMG) and the escarole salad with cheese and apple and nuts and holy moly it was delicious. Could not get enough of that salad. These are small plates, call it tapas style and meant to be shared. They also do cheese and meat boards, which we could not fit in our bellies, so that's for next time. Yum! Cute place too - dim, cool light fixtures, wood, outdoor seating, average bar selection as far as liquors, more wine choices for sure.
Who knew warm kale could be so delicious! LOVE the warm kale salad with pecans and oranges. On the weekends they have a make your own Bloody Mary bar! Love the small plates/large plates Italian tapas style menu. Awesome for sharing food or sampling a few things. Not to be missed: the salads (pick any one...all yummy!), the "egg toast" appetizer and the Blondie dessert. We also shared the salmon, the arugula pizza and a burger (shoe string fries are AWESOME). Everything was outstanding! It's really a dining experience and they consistently take the extra step to make their food special. For example, the pizza was served with little dishes containing red pepper flakes, sea salt, etc. Everything about this place is SO right! The food is exceptional, the decor is so unique and warm, service is top notch. Whoever thought of using wine crates and corks to cover the walls...genius. Perfect for a special occasion or brunch/dinner with friends. Great outdoor patio for dining too! Shout out to our server Katie for being so on top of everything and knowledgeable about the wine selection!
Since my last review I have been back several times and I always enjoy the food and the service has been great! The outdoor patio in the summer is lovely and I am always anxious to see what the polenta special is! One of my faves!!

Always fast, friendly, skillfully made drinks at this location. Baristas are among the nicest I know. Open late, great outdoor patio in back for lounging and relaxing. Ample parking day or night, people spouting "howdy neighbor!"
I wasted my birthday drink because they're incapable of speedy service in the morning. Excuse me, but some people have places to be in the morning.
The Starbucks in downtown Western Springs is blessed with a large patio that is shielded from street noise. The interior of the store is rather average overall. At the time of my review, the store is well run. This is a very good Starbucks, one that I and my friends prefer to most others in the neighboring Western suburbs (Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills, Lagrange) for meeting and enjoying a coffee and conversation. The store is across the street from Oberweis. It is attached to the First National Bank of Lagrange building. There is no Starbucks sign on the outside, but that is where it is. The store occupies the Grand Avenue side of the bank building. The front entrance is on Burlington. In the back is the store's nice size parking lot, which, curiously, often manages to fill up. The patio faces the parking lot, and the rear entrance is from the patio. The interior space is just average sized, with only a couple of armchairs, with wood tables and chairs for the rest. Because the two entrances converge on the order counter, the apparent traffic flow appears to be amplified. Sitting inside can jangle the nerves a bit during busy times. I'm thinking not so much of the morning commuters as I am of the mothers with young children who congregate at Starbucks in the late morning. That being said, the current management is more than willing to lower the background music, or turn it off completely, if we request it and if the store is relatively empty. Not many stores will tamper with the loud and intrusive Starbucks background music, which must be a corporate mandate, just like the lack of wall clocks. The arm chairs are in a corner, but they are right on the hallway to the bathrooms. I preferred the former placement of the chairs, near the bank, and in the corner. On the other hand, the new location gets more light, which makes it more pleasant to read the Sunday New York Times or some other paper. In other words, evaluating just the interior space, this Starbucks is an average store in most respects. Where the Western Springs store stands out is in its al fresco cafe area. The patio is large. Its layout makes it seem as though it is anchored in the bank and coffee shop building and extends outward without any constraint --- that it just keeps going. A nicely landscaped area sits between the patio and Grand Avenue. The patio looks directly out onto the parking lot, but traffic flow in the lot is not at all disturbing or distracting. The Starbucks - Western Springs is one of the nicer places to drink coffee outdoors, in the Western suburbs. (The patio at Hinsdale Starbucks - Whole Foods has its own pluses and minuses, but I still prefer the Western Springs store for sitting outdoors.) Neither Burlington nor Grand Avenue is very busy. The shrubbery shields the outside tables from Grand Avenue and the store's building stands between the patio and Burlington. Trains go by every now and then. You do hear those. And cars come and go from the parking lot. The rest of the time you are enjoying peace, fresh air, and sunshine. In summary, the Starbucks - Western Springs is an average store with an exceptionally fine outdoor seating area. If weather permits, and you like to have coffee outdoors, I suggest that you try it for yourself.

We tried this restaurant because of a Groupon and have been back four times since. The food is interesting and quite tasty. They have a few typical options on the menu but there is creativity in that kitchen. Diners just need to take the chance. The service goes from great to OK depending on what time if the evening it is. The actual waitstaff has been very attentive for us but the servers or bus boys often seem to be young and new to the workforce as a whole. Some come in strong and eager to do well. A few just want the money and it shows. We had a problem with one meal. It was resolved quickly and desserts were on the house. The live music on Fridays and Saturdays is hit or miss. If it's good, you don't mind it being loud. If it isn't your taste, it can simply make it difficult to talk to one another or just be prepared to speak up. One reviewer noted that Mecenat Bistro is not as good as Vie which is around the corner. While that may be the case, the pricing is also well less than half. Comparing it to other restaurants at the same price point (let's be fair), it is a wonderful evening out and it's always a treat to support a local and family-run establishment.
AAAHHHH. I want to love you. We had a very nice dinner here in December, so we invited friends to join us for dinner in February. The servers were very nice, very attentive, quite knowledgeable. But the food was mediocre at best. Even the bruschetta that we had enjoyed so much in December were disappointing, the mushroom one was already mushy. Our dinners were lukewarm and uninspired. So we are one for two. I'll try again and report in.
Nice place - really nice owners and staff. I did not eat here as I was there for a party in the private room, but the smells from others' food was yummy! They have Blue Moon on tap and serve it in a HUGE glass. Also have Summer shandy (now) and other great Sam Adams beers. I might convince the husband to stop back for lunch one weekend!

Snackers Cafe

This is a pretty simple diner/cafe in downtown Western Springs. I brought my son here for lunch. The menu was quite extensive. He settled for the kids corn dog with fries and baby carrots. I ordered the turkey club after the gentlemen taking my order mentioned their turkey was oven roasted and highly enjoyed by the clientele. I have to say, he was right. The turkey was flavorful and cut at just the right thickness. The veggies were fresh and the sandwich wasn't weighed down with mayo like many club sandwiches can be. The fries are super yummy and very similar to a famous place with golden arches. My son wasn't as much of a fan of the corn dog. He was all about the "corn" and less about the "dog". The hotdog did look a little pale and strange. Maybe it was a turkey dog. Free refills on drinks were a bonus too. We will definitely come back for a quick lunch. They also have breakfast which might be worth trying out.
This place used to be the best place to grab a bite to eat in western springs. The last few years however, it seems to be going down the tubes. I still come in once in a while because this place has so many memories hanging out when I was younger. But every time I come here now, it seems as though it gets worse each time. The food isn't terrible, I usually order a burger and fries. The burger this past time tasted like it had freezer burn. The fries were the best part of the meal. The fries have always been good, but I expect the meals to be better. This place could use some improvement.
I've been coming here regularly since I was 12 years old (I am 21 now). The space still feels the same and the original owners and cook are still there! Snackers has a very "dive-like" atmosphere which I think is pretty cool! The staff is always pleasant and offers suggestions when asked. The breakfast panini is amazing. It's a toasted sourdough sandwich with egg, pesto, tomatoes, and I think ham...the special comes with tater tots, too! I'll always be loyal to snackers!

We've been here several times as an alternative to moon dance, egg harbor or blueberry hill. Any of those are superior even with a wait. I think the problem with honey bee is that they are trying to do too much. The expansive menu isn't well supported by the kitchen.
Great breakfast place. Food is good. Prices are reasonable. Staff and the owners are usually very friendly. (Of course, depending on the kind of day they're having, some servers will be nicer than others.) Lunch is pretty forgettable.
Great breakfast place, excellent service, and the owners are so nice. Highly recommend.
