Walked in for dinner to find two hosts (who looked barely over the age of 16) sitting on stools behind the host stand, talking to each other. Barely glanced at us, didn't greet us. I said hello and that there were two of us for dinner. Husband had the all-you-can-eat fish fry which he said was "pretty good" and I had the fish tacos which were barely tolerable. A few tiny bites of cod, some slimy cabbage and a thin slice of avocado in a flimsy corn tortilla. The rice dish that came on the side was OK. Service was lousy...waitress had that "I don't want to be here" attitude and only checked on us once during dinner. Husband had to ask for more fish - she never checked to see if he wanted or needed more. At the end of our meal, she came and placed the guest book on the table as she passed by. Never said anything like most waitstaff do such as, "I'll take this when you're ready. No hurry." We had one of those online deals where we paid $15 for $30 worth of food and our bill came out to be $29.95, so all we owed was tip. We placed the tip in the guest book and waited for the waitress to come by and pick it up...and waited and waited. She never came back to pick it up and say thank you or have a good night or anything. We finally just got up and left. Good thing we had only paid $15 for our food because even that amount was barely worth it. We won't be back.

Great beer selection, great food. They have excellent specials, and the lamb stew is amazing. I like the Friday fish fry, which has thick crunchy batter. The fried pickles spears are very good, too. We've always had great service here, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. It's also a good restaurant for kids.

Food and service is amazing during off hours. I've had most everything on the menu and as said before its all amazing before the rush hours. My last straw was the Friday fish fry, it was horrible, I felt like I was just eating grease. Prices are decent but do yourself a favor and go for lunch or a early dinner.

Had dinner here, no wait on a Friday night, so got seated right away. Ordered the fish fry and the batter was too thick and over-fried, almost burnt. It was ok, but I would not order it again. The apple crisp dessert was good, but not amazing like other places, there wasn't enough crisp and just all soggy apples. I am ok if I don't go back. On a side note, the waitress (short brown hair with glasses) was very rude to a runner of the food. He made a mistake of bringing the entrees at the same time as the apps and she was like "what is wrong with this picture??" and pretty much demoralized him and my whole table heard it. SO NOT COOL!!!

Wide menu selection. Great wings! Food was unique and prices were reasonable. The staff was friendly and service was great. Over 100 beers to select from. They are in a 150 year old building that has a lot of character. The atmosphere is great.

This is our favorite go to restaurant in the Wauconda area. Food never disappoints, service is always excellent and a great value for the quality. It isn't a place you get huge quantities of food, but if you want a nice size portion of really good food and some unique items with a GREAT beer and very nice wine menu, this is the place. Owners are awesome people really trying to bring a quality restaurant to this area. While there are no lake views, the 2 outside porches give you a nice outdoor option and the food FAR beats the 2 restaurants in the area with water views (Dock's and Lindy's Landing).

Love this restaurant! Me and my family started with the sweet potato tots with garlic aioli which was freaking good. For entrees I had the M.O.M.S. burger which was a huge size and juicy. My family members had jameson chicken and the guiness burger. Mmm everything was so good. And then for dessert we had bread pudding which was fantastic. Charming ambiance and nice waitress. We're coming back very soon.

Too much Ruben. Shepherd pie is excellent (a bit too heavy on the rosemary, however). I'd love to see a little more variety when it comes to sandwiches (half of them being rubens) .... maybe a bbq pork or beef, and another chicken to choose from .. or some good wraps. Just went there once and will probably try again. The jury is still out for me.

Very good selection of food and beer, possibly one of the best burgers I have ever had. Steaks and main dishes are always delicious and the service has always been very good. Two things to consider - The noise level in the restaurant and especially bar can be very loud. Parking can be a challenge, do not park in the lot to the south, they will tow even at night.

Entree and appetizer were fine & the waiter was extremely nice. I feel the prices, esp. the drinks, were too high. $3.00 for a diet coke is outrageous. Dessert was nothing to brag about. We shared the cake assortment which was seven tiny, tiny squares of frosted cake. It looked like it was straight out of Costco. Again, a bit over-priced at $8.00. No wonder there were't many customers in there for lunch. I don't think I'd ever go back again.

Tasty, interesting twists on food selections. Wide selection of drink choices, even the ice tea. Historic building and cheery staff make for a great atmosphere.

If the sole purpose of your trip to Middleton's is to go to a quaint bar/pub and experience an exceptional beer menu paired with ok food then Middleton's is your spot! We were there on a Saturday afternoon, only group in the bar.......you'd think service wouldn't be our complaint right? wrong! Not sure what it is with bars/restaurants, the less people that are there the less attentive the server/bartender. If you can get past that though I was VERY impressed by the overall feel of the bar and the fantastic beer menu...... I'll definitely be back, but not so much for the food as for the beer and ambiance.

It was my first time going to this fine establishment on a Sunday. It was FANTASTIC! The staff made it especially AMAZING. They were so friendly and helpful! I think their names were John and Mason. SO NICE! My friend and I came in expecting a regular bar and sub par bar food but the food was fantastic - everything on the menu looked wonderful. It was too bad I could only pick one item to order! They had a fantastic beer selection which the bar staff kindly helped us choose what we'd like before pouring us a pint. The atmosphere is nice and comfortable. We are definately going to make this a regular hang out. A+ middletons!

This place great! Test beer selection is phenomenal and the food is even better. We sat at the upstairs bar and my only suggestion is to either have the bar stocked with most of the beer selections or get a dumbwaiter to the downstairs bar. It takes too long for the bartender to put the drink order in and then go downstairs to pick up the drink order. Very inconvenient to the guests and bartender. All in all freeway place. We will be back.

THE PLACE USED TO BE A BROTHEL Actually this place was built in 1847 as a stage coach stop, a brothel and then a grand hotel. How cool is that? The Place: This place is located in the center of downtown Wauconda on Main Street. There is parking on the street but if you can't find a spot then there is additional parking across the street down the road in a public lot, and it's free. The bar/restaurant has some original exposed brick and is nicely decorated and clean. My wife and I decided to check out a band that her brother used to play with some of the members. We had always discussed trying out Middleton's so this was the time to do it. We came in and grabbed a seat at the bar as the tables were already occupied on the lower level. While we waited for the band to start playing, we sat and watched the Blackhawks game on one of their 8 TV's located around the bar. You literally can't turn your head without seeing a TV and for most guys that is pretty awesome. I guess my only complaint is that when my wife was talking to me I lost focus on what she was saying because the Hawks just made a goal or there was big hit on one of the other teams players. The conversation went like this "and she said BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH and then she said BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH, you know what I mean? Ah yes. It was almost like she was announcing the game while I was watching. The Drinks: This place is known as a Gastro Pub. I thought that was a procedure that you had at a hospital but it means that they have hi end booze and beer which they do. One of the bar tenders asked us for our drink order which we made. I went with a beer while my wife went with her usual cocktail. As we waited for our drinks I looked over the drink menu and noticed that they have a pretty extensive selection of beers, cocktails and single malts. The Food: As we sat there we asked for a food menu and noticed that they have a Friday fish fry so we went with the fish and chips and an order of mac n cheese. I have to say that the food is pretty good stuff. The mac n cheese was made with a mixture of cheddar, gorgonzola and BACON (AEWSOME). Anything and everything made with bacon is freaken awesome and this did not disappoint. The flavor of the mac n cheese was not overpowering. It was just right. The fish and chips included fish that was made with Cod that came with a dill sauce for dipping, coleslaw and fries. The fish was fresh and with the sauce it was tasty. The fries were home cut potatoes and also very good. The Experience: So we came here to listen to a band but because the Blackhawks were playing the second game of the playoffs it delayed their start. The band plays on the upper level overlooking the bar area. We stuck around for a few of their songs before we decided to call it a night. The staff is friendly, very organized and efficient. We will definitely be back here for lunch as well as dinner and of course the drinks.

My husband and I took my dad there tonight. Excellent as usual! The staff is exceptional, friendly and professional. The food is awesome, really. I am in love with the salads they have and you have to try the fresh berry tea! The fried pickles were a great treat for an appetizer and we had lobster bisque soup, just fabulous! I am very fussy about where I eat and what I eat and this place is definitely on my number one list, you just have to try it.

Stopped by here for dinner last night. The atmosphere is great, the place is clean, and the history of the building is very interesting. The drink menu is pretty extensive, and I didn't even look at a beer menu. The food is outstanding. The menu has just the right amount of variety. I ordered the special (M.O.M.'s meatloaf). It wasn't the flavor of meatloaf I am accustomed to, but it was still great. It was more food than I really needed, but I couldn't stop myself from eating everything. It came with a side salad which I had with, what I am assuming is homemade, Smokey Bacon bleu cheese dressing. The meatloaf was covered in an unusual sweet, brown gravy with mashed potatoes and corn with onion straws on top. Others tried the grilled chicken sandwich and the Jameson Chicken. The grilled chicken sandwich wasn't anything great, but it is just a grilled chicken sandwich. The "bacon" they put on the top is a piece of ham that has been pan fried. The Jameson Chicken was very good. It was breaded and fried chicken cuts served with a white gravy that is infused with Jameson Whiskey, mashed potatoes, and wilted spinach. The gravy is excellent, and I was stealing fries to dip in the gravy. I will definitely have to take a trip back here to sit at the bar and try some beers (maybe even play bar trivia, Monday nights), and really get the full experience. This place may be a 5-star joint if you are there for more than just a meal.

I met a friend for lunch and we ordered the fish tacos. I've had this entree at many restaurants so I know what to expect. At $14 a plate I expected a better meal. They used Cod, a very small amount, I'd say about a spoonful and a little avocado and some slimy cabbage. The rice looked and tasted 3 days old and tasted terribly. I really wanted to enjoy my meal. It's a charming bar/dining establishment.

The menu surpasses nearby Lindy's in inventiveness and quality and the service is better. In addition, Middleton's has a wide selection of bottled beers and decent ones on tap, like Guiness and Newcastle. What Middleton's doesn't have is a view if Bang's Lake, but don't let that sway you.

Went in on a busy Saturday night. Two families (ours and some friends)- four adults and four little kids. We were all EXHAUSTED from a day of swimming. Kids were ornery. There was the potential for badness in the form of one of our toddlers' tantrums ruining the night of an all-adult party at a nearby table. Well..... there were NO tantrums. In fact, all kids were relatively sedate and well behaved all evening. There is something magic about this restaurant that allows adults to feel like adults (GREAT food, extensive beer list and good wine choices, dim lighting) and still allows kids to be content too (lots of kids books to borrow from the hostess stand, kids menu options were real food not an afterthought, enough room to walk around if necessary, diaper changing station in the bathroom, etc.) Our server was AWESOME. Very attentive. Most importantly- I feel confident that we did not annoy a single other adult in the establishment that night. Thank you, Middleton's On Main. Thank you.

We were dining with friends on a casual evening out and decided Middleton's On Main would fit the bill. The couple we were with have been to Middleton's several times and extolled its virtue as a casual eatery. I loved the ambiance and a perky server was right there to take drink orders as soon as we took our seats. The menu is vast with choices from full course specials featuring seafood, meat, pasta and more. The choices of sandwiches \ burgers is impressive to say the least. I ordered a pork tenderloin special that featured paillard pork medallions in a cranberry sauce. Unfortunately, my pork (and my friends dish) were overcooked and dry. The sauce was excellent however. For an establishment that focuses on crafted beers the wine selection was surprisingly good. One of our friends did however ask for a wine that were out of that day. The service was really great. Our server was on point with all our orders and my wine glass was never empty. Keep wine in front of me all night and your tip will be excellent! Some of our group ordered sandwiches and those reportedly were fantastic. I will give Middleton's another opportunity shortly but will stick with the traditional pub fare and stay clear of more traditional entrees. All in all a nice place, near my home, and I will be back. If 3 1/2 stars were available I would have raised my rating. Over cooking my pork cost them a star however.

Staff was very nice and accommodating. We had the fish fry and shrimp ramen. The fish was average but the ramen was not the greatest. The fries were pretty good though but the pretzels for an appetizer was really bland. We tried the famous root beer beer which was very different but good in its own way. Place was very neat looking inside and will be back for the staff, beer and atmosphere in hopes the food turns out better next time.

Another winner for downtown Wauconda. We stopped in for something to drink when we realized that our favorite coffee place -- Honey Hill -- across the street was closed. We walked across to Middleton's and had some iced tea. However, after looking over their menu, we decided to try their Guiness hot wings. Wow! what a treat! This place has a great location (it's the old Lakeside Inn) and friendly, helpful, service. We will definitely be back for a dinner.

Second visit and nothing but good. Great atmosphere with Irish music, good beer selection. Servers are very attentive and friendly Owners involved and friendly. Real commitment to listen and improve. Menu items tried: salmon quesadilla excellent, fish and chips, about the best I've had. Great batter lots of fish good fries, corned beef - amazing!, veggie pannini with goat cheese great. So far nothin but gooood!

just returned from Excellent! We sat outside on the first floor on a sunny early evening Saturday. After being open for a few weeks, MoM operates as if they've been doing it for years. Adriane, our server, was humble professional and extremely personable. From walking in/out the service exceeded expectations. And the owners are top notch with superb food choice to please any appetite. Save room for dessert! The bread pudding is absolutely the best my wife and I had ever! Well done!

I know everyone in Wauconda loves MIddletons, but being a foodie - I'm not as thrilled. I've been a few different times. For drinks, for dessert and for dinner. Haven't had a great experience except that I'm with friends. The most annoying thing to me, but I know some people actually would probably like this point, is the band that seems to always be playing. I don't think I'm old, but when I get into Middletons, I feel old because I always feel like the music is WAY too loud. In the bar - loud; over in the restaurant up and down - loud; and the WORST place ever to sit, the balcony across from the balcony where the band plays -- I think I lost about 30% of my hearing on that balcony. Beyond that - I love cocktails and I've tried a few of the ones on their menu and haven't been thrilled with any of them. If you like beer, I know they have a pretty broad selection. Desserts - tried a few and haven't been blown away by anything - they've got sugar in them so that makes me happy.... And the dinner that I tried was not that fabulous either. The one thing I did like is the actual building itself. If nothing else, go into Middletons for the history - they really did a good job of updating the restaurant, but leaving a lot of the original old building's bones. I really do love going into the place just for the wood and brick and all. Very cool.

Just what Wauconda needed. This place is classic and clean, and in a great location. Like the decor! Good selection of food and drink. Went with a crowd and all left happy. Friendly service. Finding parking on the street can be a challenge.

Stopped by there for lunch on 11/9 at 11:30am! Didnt eat lunch because the young girl behind the hostess stand looked at the phone (didnt get out of her chair) said, "are you here for breakfast? " we said no lunch, she said "sorry lunch isnt until 12!, so we inturn walked out. Me being in the F & B Industry....Not a good move on her part! No one in the place and yes they were open! Didnt go and ask if possibly kitchen was ready to go with lunch, and by the time we sat and ordered a beverage how far off was 12? My husband and I are local and our first time here! Not a good way to start! Sorry I just had to vent. Seeing as though Good Restaurants are few and far! Hope they change that!

One of the best places in lake county. Unbelievable selection of beer (bottle and tap). Food is great!! Had the fish and chips and it was some of the best I have had in a long time. The thing that I liked most about Middleton' s is that it has a great atmosphere. Great bar area and comfortable restaurant. We usually go to Lindy's when we are in Wauconda, but the good is far superior and prices are better at Middleton's. I cannot wait to go back!!!!!!

I gave this 2 stars because of our horrible company party experience we had there. Let me start by saying though that their food is pretty good. Nice presentation and overall good taste. Now that that's out of the way... We had our annual Christmas party here and organized everything and it all seemed like it was going to turn out to be a great night. We were told that we would have the entire upstairs to ourselves and there would be around 6 or so separate tables so people could walk around and mingle and have a good time socializing. When we arrived they crammed us into HALF of the upstairs with two medium sized tables. Once you sat down in your seat you were stuck no matter where you sat because the chairs were either right on top of someone behind you or you were sandwiched between the table and the wall. They were continuing to serve guests all night long upstairs walking through our party to carry food over our heads and making us scoot our chairs in closer so everyone could keep passing through. We expressed our concerns about how we were told we would have the entire upstairs and the event organizer pretty much told us "no... youre wrong." Because of the other random guests basically now a part of our company party, the owner of our company was unable to address us as a whole and talk about our progress in the past year and congratulate specific people etc, etc, like we have done every year. Also, some of the food was incorrect from what we planned originally. It was embarrassing because everyone kept saying how cramped they felt and how they couldnt get up to get another drink from the bar or go to the bathroom... totally killed the mood of the party. So... we will NEVER do that again. They did apologize though and offered to buy me 1... one... free beer and took off one cheap bottle of wine that I don't even think we used anyway. Don't have a large party here... they just aren't organized enough to handle it. Having lunch or grabbing a drink at their bar (they had a ton of beers) is a decent experience.

First off, the food was absolutely great. I had the Chicago Bangers and Mash which was very very tasty. The bratwurst was probably one of the best I have had period. Secondly, the beer selection was top notch. Finally, the service was lightning fast. We arrived around prime time on a Saturday evening. We were seated quickly (party of 4) and had food on the table within 15 to 20 minutes of sitting down. The hostess and wait staff were very professional and pleasant. Only let down is that because it is downtown Wauconda, parking can be difficult. I don't blame the restaurant for that though. I would definitely go there again.

Went out for a cocktail mid afternoon on a Tuesday. The place just opened the day before. Adriane was our waitress and was fabulous! It was as if it was her home and she wanted us to feel welcome. We had a couple of different beers on tap, liked them all and the boar sliders. The sliders were perfect size and the taste was quite complex due to the unpredictable ingredients. Then we shared the dessert sampler, again, the perfect size to compliment a cocktail in the afternoon. There were so many different flavors going on in this dessert that everyone will strike a hit with this one. Atmosphere A+, service A+., food a+.will be back.....just one thing...get some music on the front porch.

I've had a tough time trying to decide what to write on this review. My husband and I were there for lunch yesterday. The food was good. I'm a Mac and Cheese person, I try it all over the place, and theirs has a ton of blue cheese giving it a deep tang. That being said, I got EATEN ALIVE by mosquito's in this place. I'm hyper sensitive to them, and am very very careful about them, using spray any time I'm outside. I sat inside. INSIDE. I got 7 bites in a short period of time. I walked in with no bites, walked out with SEVEN. Not sure what the issue is here, but I'm not sure we'll return, which is a shame because between the mac and cheese and the beer cheese soup, I was looking forward to trying some more of their dishes.

2nd time for Dinner at this restaurant, last second decision on a quiet Wednesday night. Nice when a quick plan comes together so well! Service was excellent, as you would expect on a weekday. Nice selection of draft craft brews, and they sell taster portions at a reasonable cost. Food was well above average, and I would return again! Why not 5 stars? Our salmon dish was a little overdone, tasty but cooked a tad too long.

Im not sure what all the praise is for. My husband and I ate here 2 years ago and never been back. Wasn't because of bad service was because of bad food. My husband ordered a steak and had no flavor what so ever. I had a cheeseburger and that had no flavor. I did not want to pay for our food considering I did not eat more then a couple of bites. Instead we paid for our dinner after making sure we told them how unsatisfied we we're with our meal. I really do not recommend this restaurant.

I've been here numerous times now and I am a big fan. I usually comes for lunch with my coworkers and very much enjoy the affordable lunch menu. I've never sat anywhere but the bar area and the bartenders are quick to serve and do a great job helping you get in and out. Which is nice because I don't really love long lunches when it means I'll still be working at 6 pm trying to get in all my hours. The lunch menu has a lot of great sandwich choices and my friends have said good things about the grilled cheese. I'm partial to the buffalo chicken wrap and sweet potato fries. It's been delicious every time. I recently met a girlfriend there for dinner and I got to check out their tap list. They had quite a few offerings and a good variety. I had no problem picking out something to drink. Plus if you can't find something on draft they have plenty to offer in bottles. The dinner menu is a nice alternative to the lunch menu. It still has a lot of great sandwich options but also included some very tempting mac'n'cheese. I tried out the turkey cobb panini and enjoyed it. The service was once again great and I will keep coming back!

Went for a Bloody Mary with the hubby after dropping our boy off at Football. Very close to the field , figured we'd give it a whirl. I had the corned beef Ramen, which is exactly as it sounds. Broth, BIG chunks of Corned beef, Ramen noodles and veggies. Pretty good, but the broth was a tad bland. Hubby ate shepards pie that was made with TONS of fresh small, thinly sliced corned beef, veggies topped with mashed potatoes then broiled until the potatoes were a bit crispy! It was great! I know what I'm getting next visit! Our server was Colleen at the bar area. She is fun, attentive and makes a DELICIOUS Bloody Mary with olives, pickle and a bacon stirrer. It had just the right amount of flavor, spicy but not overly. We are fans and will definitely be back!! A+ all around!

Absolutely love this place, the building with open window walls to sit and enjoy the weather makes me think of New Orleans. Located in the middle of cute Main Street Wauconda, walking distance to the lake. The food is exquisite Irish style gourmet. Pork belly bruschetta, beer balls, roasted Brussels sprouts all were so tasty. The beer menu was huge! I liked the grapefruit beer. Only downside, so many things I want to try and pricy for lunch. Excellent for dinner.

Yummy burgers... REALLY good Reuben's..(however the bread could be grilled a bit)... Irish onion soup is a once and done item. Fun atmosphere, friendly staff, LOTS of tv's for sporting events. Last night it was both sports and the high wire walk over Chicago. Big menu, interesting choices... Would be interested in trying other items.

Fell in love with Middleton's on Main! The set up is really cool. It's clearly an older building but is holding up quite well if you ask me. There's two levels, main floor and an upstairs- both have outdoor seating which is neat. I sat on the balcony upstairs, getting a nice view of the street and enjoyed the nice weather. I ordered an appetizer, Pretzel with a cheese dip. The cheese dip was amazing! I couldn't stop dipping my pretzel in it! The only downfall to it were the pretzels. They appeared to be the kind that are from a box and can easily microwave it. The entree I ordered was the Chicken Caprese Panini. It had a balsamic glaze with a pesto mayo and the combination was delicious. It gave the panini a nice flavorful juice. The chicken was a tad dry but thankfully the juice from the pesto and glaze helped. Service was decent. The employees are very kind but a tad slow. Which was odd, considering when I went it was on a Saturday afternoon and wasn't nearly close to being full. Then again I didn't see many employees around... Overall I would return in an instant, good location, atmosphere was good, and the food was the best part!

Great decor and the best list of crafts beers you could ask for in the Wauconda area. The bartenders are knowledgeable about their beer selection too. Food is pretty good and with a few standouts like their chicken sandwich and fried pickles. Be careful when they are down a bartender in the bar though. It has happen a few times now and it greatly increases your wait times for food orders and drink orders in the bar!

I love this bar but their sheppards pie is a disgrace. How are you gonna call yourself a Irish pub and make the worst sheppards pie I have ever eaten. Clearly under cooked and made with what tasted like dog food quality meat frozen veggies and instant mashed potatoes.

Really a 3.5 star review, but I'll round up because it is clear that this place is such a beloved local favorite. The food was good, the beer list was extensive, and everyone was clearly having a great time. I would come back if I was in the area! I came here for a friend's birthday, and a good time was had by all. Parking was a bit difficult (we wound up parking a few blocks away on a side street), and it was a bit loud in the bar with the loud music, but there were places we could have sat that would have been quieter, so I can't fault them for this. I loved the variety of little nooks here- a main dining room on the left, a hoppin' bar to the right, and small, more hidden dining area on the 2nd floor. The food was pretty good- I wouldn't come here specifically for the food, but it was totally serviceable. I ate nachos, which came with a delicious cheese sauce AND melted shredded cheese. I got ground beef, which I would not recommend, as it was not well-seasoned- it just didn't taste spicy or Mexicanish at all. I realize I ordered these at an Irish pub, but they could have thrown some salsa in there. Still, small quibbles- I still ate them! My fiance ordered fish and chips, and they brought him some extra tarter sauce when he asked them without complaint or an extra charge. He ate them quickly enough I didn't even get a chance to try them. The service here was very friendly, prompt, and nice.

Middleton's on Main is the bomb! When Middleton's on Main took over the empty building, I was glad that Wauconda finally had a new restaurant/bar to offer the community. Lindy's & Slyce cannot compete against Middleton's. My husband & I originally went to Middleton's on a Friday night to check out my friend's band playing, and I thought it would be great way to ck out the place. Middleton's is an upscale Irish bar with a talented staff (from their servers to bar tenders to bus boys). I could not believe how organized they were, how friendly they were with the customers, how familiar they were with their menu, and how clean it was. I could not help but think that Robert Irvine could not correct the flow or process they had going on in the bar section. They have dining seating area (which I plan on coming back & having lunch or dinner there). While their bar is on the right side of the building with upper seating to look over the bar. For drinks, I went with my usual (Captain & coke) but I wish I could have tried the Strawberry Hill because it sounded yummy & sweet (..... next time). They had an elaborate list of mixed drinks, beers, wine, cordials to choose from. For food, we wanted to order appetizers to go with our drinks. So I ordered their Fish (cod) & chips & my husband ordered their Mac & Cheese. The batter on the cod was crunchy & the cod was tender & fresh. The dill sauce was a great compliment for dipping. But wait, it gets better--- their fries made me oooooooo & ahhhhhh. Delicious! I sampled the Mac & cheese, it was creamy & the bacon complimented the flavor. They offer a lot of variety on their menu. So I will be glad to come back & try their other menu items. I'm definitely a fan of Middleton's and 'you' should check out this awesome place.

Really like the atmosphere here. Only had drinks with friends but they had a great drink menu. Really good Moscow Mules and gluten free menu. Bartenders were attentive and didn't mind going in the back to grab my gluten free beer.

Stopped here on an early Saturday afternoon to grab bite. Pretty regrettable decision. First off, there were ZERO customers in the place, zero. You'd think you'd get some good service since you were the only people in the room, nope. Slow, fairly rude services. Anywho, the pretzel appetizer was some out of the box frozen pretzels with some fairly good cheese, meh. We also ordered the Reuben which was average. The only redeeming qualities about this place was that it was a nice looking bar and they do have a great craft beer selection. Luckily we find ourselves out in Wauconda maybe once every 10 years. I can't wait to not go back.

Had a great time with my husband and my 2 daughters ( age 10 and 6) tonight. Kids eat for .99 and the magician was there. Had the lobster mac n cheese-- awesome, lots of lobster- chunks not tiny pieces. Husband had the shepards pie-- he said it was very good. He also had the spiced holiday beer, since he's kinda a craft beer snob, he loved what he ordered. Kids had chicken tenders and cheese pizza-- they at all of their meal so it must have been good. No room for desert. But the selections looked yummy. Will def come back!

We've been here numerous times over the past 2-3 years, and every time we leave happy and full. Middleton's is located in a very old building with lots of charm. I think it was a brothel at one time, but don't quote me on that. When you walk in you are greeted by a friendly hostess. The bar is off to the right and a dinning room is off to the left. When the weather is nice the open air front porch offers a wonderful relaxed option. The food is very good and portions are big. Yesterday four of us went for breakfast. We started by splitting one of their homemade cinnamon rolls - it was awesome. I had biscuits and gravy with two eggs over easy. My wife had one of the eggs Benedict variants. My kids both had crepes. All the food was excellent. Our total bill was $53, which seemed very reasonable. My only knock was my bloody mary. It was weak and bland. Overall, Middleton's is a great place to come with friends or family. The restaurant is quaint and very family friendly. The bar is a great place to watch a game, and offers an extensive list of craft brews. Sunday evenings a magician walks around and does impressive table-side magic tricks (reminds me of the good old days at Schulien's in Chicago). If you are in Wauconda, and looking for good food in a relaxed atmosphere - I highly recommend this place.

We have gone here quite a few times, always great food, they have an awesome craft beer selection. The service leaves something to be desired, we are always greeted nicely and sat right away but the food takes a long time and the servers are not as attentive as they could be. I would recommend to sit in the bar area, the bartenders are quick to serve you.

Drove in from Milwaukee for a cheer tumbling session at UA. Originally had reservations at zaza's but plans changed and found this place. Yelp had listed this place as not taking reservations, come to find out they do. A party of 8 at 6pm on Saturday would have to wait 30 min. Ok. No problem. However we were told we could take any open table in the bar. With 4 kids, we found two and immediately sat down. Mason was at our table within 5 min. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and beer selection. He surprised my wife with a beer, which she was pleasantly happy with. The appetizers came within minutes (wasn't overly busy for a Saturday night). The fried pickles were fantastic. The nachos went fast!!!! For the first time at Middletons, we really enjoyed it. The food was awesome, came out fast and the atmosphere was pleasant. If Mason is working behind the bar, ask for him. No one ordered the same thing and everyone liked what they got. If I ever make it back into town, I'll definitely come back

Excellent bread pudding. Close to excellent calamari. Very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable staff. Lovely atmosphere with plenty of outdoor seating. Very large beer selection. The wild boar sliders looked really good, but tasted a bit odd, I was not a fan. Would definitely go back though.

Much better than the old establishment / bar that occupied this space. I walked in with my little son and the hostesses were really friendly. We felt super welcome. I had an urge for nachos and he had an urge for Mac N Cheese. I ordered the loaded chips appetizer and it came back as loaded Fries - oops my bad, I'm a little unversed in my high English (had to throw the leftovers in the boot of my car!). My son liked his mac n cheese and his juice. I loved my craft beers from the Michigan-Ohio region. Waitress was cool. Upstairs is a little cramped. Overall I'd say pretty good, especially for we Waucondites (is that a word?) who don't want to do the typical McHenry Olive Garden trek. I'll probably go back in a couple months.

This was the first time I went to Middleton's on Main.. It was definitely great! I love the atmosphere there. Tasty beer selection but dissapointed that they do not offer any Hard Ciders. It is on the menu but when I spoke with the bartender she said that they dont really have any except for one that they have on tap but she didnt recommend it.. she gave me a sample and it definitely didnt taste like any hard cider I have had before, very bland and dull. So moving on to the food. I had the paddy melt and it was delicious, i could not stop eating the fries. The only complaint that i would have is that I asked for the burger to be cooked well done and it was more medium then well done. My friend had the scallops risotto and she was happy with it. To finish the meal we both had the apple crisp for dessert and it was phenominal!! I will definitely be coming back here.

Middleton's just started to host live music and the place serves as an amazing venue. The fish and chips are delicious. Jeff the manager and his staff are top notch! Definitely worth a trip from the city!

Middelton's just opened and I'm already impressed. We got lucky and just missed the lunch crowd. We sat upstairs on the balcony overlooking Main St. It's my favorite place to sit. The host and wait staff were extremely friendly. They're still training yet very attentive to the diners. I was pleased with their beer list (although unable to enjoy at the time). I ordered the berry ice tea which had real raspberries. Highly recommended. For our appetizer, we ordered the salmon quesadillas. This was the highlight of the meal. Wow, I would go back and make this my meal. For lunch, I gave the Irish restaurant a try with their corned beef. The corned beef was delicious. I'm not much of a cabbage fan so I took a pass and substituted with new-to-me dish, sweet potato tater tots. Excellent as expected. My wife had the Farmer's Salad and gave it a positive review. There's several places to choose in Wauconda now. I'd highly suggest giving Middelton's your first shot even if this place is packed (once the word gets out that it's a great place to eat).

My wife and I made our 1st visit here on 11/9/13, and at this point, it will be our only visit. We were seated immediately upon arriving around 5:15pm. We sat down and went through the expansive drink/beer/wine menus. We both decided on different tap beers, they were out of both. We skipped the alcohol and just ordered an appetizer while we went over the menu for our dinner. Our appetizer arrived quickly, and we then ordered soups and our entrees. Our soups were delivered immediately as we were still working on the appetizer. Then, within minutes, while still on the appetizer, soups still sitting there , our entrees were served. I could not believe what was happening. Now during all of this, our water glasses went empty and refills on our iced teas never happened. There were bus boys running all over this place and not one of them knew how to pick up a water pitcher. We finished most of the appetizer, half of our soups(bowls of the cheese soup) and part of our dinners. We had to eat so fast that we felt bloated, and were unable to really enjoy or even finish our meals. Most of it was cold by the time we were trying to finish. We took most of it home. I will say the food really was good, but the service was really clueless, and there was NO reason to rush us like that in a half empty dining room. I even wrote a "contact us" message stating the above to management. Its been 48 hours and haven't heard from them. They are quite deserving of this review. 11/21/2013- It's been 10 days and I still haven't heard from anyone from this place. I see how important customers are to them. They can close up for all I care.

I live local, and I'm glad we have another fine resturant choice. We had the fish and chips (solid choice) and the Reuben. The Reuben was good.... The berry tea was perfect, but for the price they should give refills. The cheese beer soup was fantastic, and will defiantly order again. The sweet potato tots, are very different. I liked them, but didn't love them. I really want to try the weekend breakfast next. Now for the negative... I kept a star back because of the service. Are waitress Kelly was shall we say horrid. She was slow (the resturant was not even busy during the Tuesday night) and seemed more interested in flirting with her fellow wait staff then to do her job. She always seemed just a tad annoyed. Her faults stood out more because of another waitress (sorry don't know her name, she was young with short light colored hair) was everything Kelly was not. She was personable, complimentary, funny & wanting to make us feel welcome even though SHE was NOT our waitress. I think next time we will request to sit in her section!

I've been to Middleton's about 3 or 4 times now and had very different meals each time. I've done everything from light (soup and salad) to heavy (prime rib special). I've never been disappointed, but I've never been blown off my feet either (although, their onion soup was very good). The portionsizes are generous, and I never leave feeling hungry, nor do I feel like the food is poor quality. However, it's not inexpensive, so I sometimes leave feeling like I wish it had been just a tad better somehow. The prime rib special on the weekends is quite good, though I wish they had au jus sauce with the meal. I've had their burgers which were tasty and huge, and they have great standard steak fries along with the meal. The ambiance is nice, although it can get a little bit loud at times. Most recently, I went with a co-worker to hear a local band play (Jin and Tonic) and had a very nice evening overall. I'm glad that it's a local restaurant to me that I can go for dinner and/or hear live music on Friday nights without it feeling too claustrophobic or seedy at all. It's a nice place to bring out of towners, or to grab a few bites with some close friends.
