Delicious! I just had the most amazing Italian Beef here. At last, the Italian Beef Brigade is over. This beef is my most favorite. The bread is perfect and holds the juice yet has flavor. It's also toasted which makes it even better. The meat is a good quality and is thin, crinkly and dry. I'm super picky about meats but their's was so good I'd eat it plain. The mozzarella beef is flavorful and smothered in cheese. I ordered an extra side of juice and they had a decent size container for it plus it was well seasoned, maybe a little spicy but in a good way. Overall I LOVED this sandwich. It's my new favorite place to order from hands-down. My fiancé ordered a chicken garden salad with Italian dressing. He said it was a good salad. Everything was fresh. He would get another side of dressing next time, but he said next time he'd probably get an Italian Beef. I also had fries with my meal. They were just out of the fryer and made it the 10-15 min drive home still hot AND crispy! We each also had a pop. Our dinner cost $19.93 and I think that's a great value. The Italian Beef is the best around. Plus, can't beat the drive-through, which moves fast. Best of all...the order was right! This is the new spot for sure.

Not bad at all but only three stars because it's no Al's Beef. I have been there twice and both times the food was better then average. I have orders a hot dog and beef from here. Hot dog: Not much you can do wrong unless you put ketchup or use a non Vienna or Red Hot dog. If you want sport peppers make sure to let them know of they do not ask. Beef: beef sandwich was large and piled high. Hot giardiniera was good and had nice flavor and diced well! Fries: nice and crispy and crinkle cut. Food has always came fast but due to the busyness service is not over the top but not bad at all.

I really don't understand someone didn't like their fry. Their fry is much better than average. Their burgers... Just amazing. we are living in Glenview but when we are talking about "burger" then we mean "fratello's". And it means that we are gonna drive 40 mins to eat their burger. seriously! We recommend to try their burger without mayo and sauce. Once we didn't like the smell from chopped onion in the burger. So we left a message to owner about that. And it fixed in few weeks. We just can't get out of this restaurant. Chicken tender is great too. We think they always fry chicken on the order.

We were craving burgers and my husband brought home Fratello's. It was awesome! Exactly what I was craving. When my husband mentioned a while back that the Fratello's burger taste better to him than Portillo's I didn't believe that. Well, now I know what he meant. The fries and chopped salad do not beat (maybe someday) Portillo's, but they are still great. I also live how close by it is, convenient, better service and so on. All in all that burger was amazing! I'm so glad my 1st burger in a long time was from Fratello's.

Very good food and fair prices. For this area it's a great place to get a beef. Seems like a portilos to me. With lower prices.

Hadn't been here for a few years so the gf and I decided to stop here after our Volo Auto Museum visit. It is like their local version of Portillos though it isn't a chain. Good food, decent prices. Would only eat here if I was in the area like I was today.

Fratellos has The best Chicago hotdogs that you can get in the Midwest. They have been there for years and always have a crowd, but service is fast.

The hot dogs and chicken wraps are good as well as the shakes but steer clear of the Italian beef it tastes like shoe leather and the sauce tastes like water with no flavor whatsoever

Food is good, service is quick, but a little on the pricey side - expect to spend about $10 per person (for a sandwich, fries, and a drink).

I ordered simple large cheese fries. The 'large' is more like a medium. The fries tasted like they were microwaved and the cheese tasted like tasteless plastic.

It's good food but not great food. The best thing I've had on their menu is there Chicago dog and their French fries dipped in the cheese sauce. I got the Italian beef a couple times and thought it was dry both times and ended up drowning it with the remaining cheese sauce. I gave 3 for the cheesy deliciousness and a wonderful Chicago style wiener! Don't get me wrong... I'll totally come back. It's just not on my top 10 places to eat anymore when I visit the area.

There isn't much around this neck of the woods. Stopped in on our way to Volo Bog and it was a choice between this and McDonalds. Go with this!

I will be sacrilegious here and state I like Fratellos just as much as Portillos . They're prices are better too! We've only ever done their hotdogs, but I'll say just as good as some of the larger chains known for Chicago fare. We go here when at the car museum. It's small and simple but the perks vs Portillos is free refills which translates to - I don't have to stand in line for 30min to get my kid another drink. And I quite like that. Also, they have kids meals (another not found at Portillos). This is a great joint. Good food, quick service and it rivals Portillos any day!

I thought Fratellos had some decent Chicago food. I will be honest and say that I am a bigger fan of Portillos, but if you need a fix, this will certainly get it done. We each ordered an Italian beef, and I asked specifically for them to be dipped. I guess they don't do that here because it definitely was not. That said, it wasn't dry and the meat was really flavorful and juicy. The peppers were good. The bread was fresh and the right kind of roll. They also use some kind of different spice combination in the beef that makes it a bit stronger in flavor and a bit more "herby" on the finish. I honestly thought it was a bit much, hence my preference for Portillos. But I would definitely stop in and have another beef if this was the only nearby option. My husband had a Chicago dog, which he reported as being just OK. And I also ordered cheese fries, which were awesome -- crinkle fries, cooked and salted perfectly with a big cup of Cheez Wiz. Everything should come with a cup of Cheez Wiz. Just sayin.

Great chopped salads and shakes, excellent customer service: a must-stop in the area or worth the drive on a nice day.

Just an average burger/dog joint. There isn't much else around this intersection, other than a McDonalds. Worth trying, but don't set your expectations too high. Potillo's mini-me, but not quite.

  • Tiffany L.

It is faux-Portillo's, and when there is no Portillo's nearby, I will settle for Fratellos. Polish is served on french bread vs. hot dog bun, YUM. Crinkle-cut fries win them an extra star. And it was really hard to turn down a banana-split milkshake.

  • Alex ..

It's pretty much like Portillo's restaurants but Fratellos is closer to my 2nd home. Hotdogs, Italian beef sandwich is pretty much all I order. I don't dine in but I like the drive thru not always fast but hey your not making cheap McDonalds here. Over all nothing that special but I know around lunch time this place really does get busy. I am a big Portillo's fan but hey Fratellos is my alternative. So I do give these guys a good rating...

Fast service, great food, and friendly employees! You can't ask for more, this place never disappoints us!

It's only a 3 out of 5 because it's not my favorite. It's ok for being the only thing like it jn the general area. Big jacks is the best beef in lake county. Or I would go to portillos over fratello's any day.

A must when you are passing through! You can get a Chicago dog anywhere, but the Fratello's sunmarine is detour-worthy. Definitely stop in to eat it because driving while eating this monstrous hoagie isn't an option- it is super messy. But it is worth the sloppiness!

Stopped in for the first time in a few years and was surprised to see the inside remodeled and very nice. I ordered the hotdogs and fries. The dogs were just average and I have had much better elsewhere. The fries were good but the cheese tasted cheap with no real flavor. The staff was friendly and the place was very clean. Not a place I will make a habit out of but if in the area again might give it another try.

Great hot dog and beef joint. Its been around for awhile and recently remodeled. Foods is great, true Chicago hot dogs, great fries and amazing burgers. I feel they are a bit overpriced.

This place is amazing, I have never had a bad meal ever!! It's has the most amazing fast food ever. The veggie burgers are absolutely AMAZING!! I highly recommend them and this place. Most people think this is a take off of Portillo's but that is definitely not the case, Fratello's is way better and not as greasy by far!! The staff is extremely friendly and very efficient. Try this place and I promise you will not be disappointed.

Have been driving by this place for years and we tried it a few weeks ago. They had excellent chili dogs, not a sweet chili but hearty and delicious. Clean, friendly and fun. We will return. I do not agree that this place is a Portillos knock off at all, it is better.

When you need a fix, and you're far away from civilization, heading toward the cheddar curtain, stop at Fratellos. It's on the corner of Rand Rd. and Rt. 120. When my brother comes up to visit my parents, he always stops here for his beloved cheezy beef. The beef is lean, peppery and large (my requirements) and they do hot dogs the correct way...with steamed poppyseed buns. The shakes rock. The fries could be better, but frankly I'm not a fry officionada, so don't go by me on that one. A locals place full of pickup trucks, American made cars and cheap, good food...and if you only want to slow down in this town, they have a drive-thru.

Beef was really good, although I ordered it plain and it came with sweet peppers, otherwise it is a solid 4 star beef. I would have liked to review the cheeseburger I ordered as well, but they didn't put it in my drive thru bag. I did call and If and when I do get back there I got my cheeseburger waiting for me. Get it right at the window and you might get better reviews.

I'm sorry but I've been stopping in once in a great while for years and I have yet to be real impressed. I'm not a fussy eater either. Today I stopped in around 3:00. and they were not busy at all. I was greeted by what seemed to be an order taking robot. Not very attentive to my complicated to go order of a sandwich and a drink as I needed to ask for the drink a couple times. Staff is cold and impolite. Sausage is good. It tastes the same as Like's to me. They charge additional for peppers. The Chicago dogs aren't bad; the beef is good but doesn't taste home made. IMHO, it's a commercial beef and dog stand with good food. I'll still stop in but won't go out of the way to get a fix.

You can get a better Chicago style hot dog at Happy Jack's on Route 120 in McHenry. This place has an AMAZING grilled chicken sandwich though. Delicious.

Absolutely delicious burgers... so good that I have only strayed from ordering these twice. When I did, I tried the IT Beef which was equally tasty. Their chicken tenders are a refreshing change from other fast food restaurants and the fries are crisp and not too greasy.

DON"T go here, the one and only time I went there I found what looked like pubic hair in my fries, no lie!!!!!!!!!. It was a bunch of teens working, didn't bother going to bitch cause I was home already, it's a Portillo's rip off
