This place has the best egg sandwich in the Midwest ! Ask for bacon and ham, then thank me later ;)

We generally go camping out in Utica at least once a year. The best breakfast place hands down is Joy and Eds. The biscuits and gravy are the best we've ever had anywhere. Every time we go in there the staff remembers us from the prior year. You won't find better prices anywhere. If you are ever in Utica Il near Starved Rock your first stop before hitting the trails has to be Joy and Eds for the best breakfast you'll ever have.

Down home welcoming atmosphere. Very good food. Hubby had hamburger-juicy and big. He also tried the chili which was vet good. I had the pork burger-ground pork to try something new-I liked it. Fries were done perfect. Waitress helpful as we had short time to eat because of a tour.

Food is decent and priced well. Only problem is the service staff has been spotty. I've received exceptional service from the bartender there (a guy) and beyond poor service from one of the waitresses there (a girl). I've been there several times while visiting Starved Rock or when I'm riding through on my motorcycle.

I have never felt so unwelcome and out of place in a restaurant. My husband, 4 yr old daughter, and I just stopped there for breakfast, and when we walked in the entire place got quiet and everyone stared at us. The waitress said good morning to other people who arrived, but not to us. She took a very long time to even ask us what we would like to drink, and then took a very long time to serve our food. As other people left, they got a "thank you and have a nice day." When my husband paid the check, she just put the bill down and walked away without a word. In fact, he was the one who said thank you, and she didn't respond. I guess they don't like Mexicans here. I am a white lady with blonde hair, but they didn't seem to like me either. When my daughter and I came out of the bathroom and left the place, again it was I who said "thank you" and I got a reluctant "thank you" back, but that was it. The food was good, but I can't say the same for the terrible service. I should note that we were quiet and polite, and our daughter was well behaved. We didn't deserve that treatment. And to avoid "proving them right" about whatever they thought of us, we still left a tip, which she really didn't deserve. They won't see another dollar from us next time we are in town.

Great mom and pop place. Had breakfast only. They will substitute cheddar for American cheese. Great vege omelette

After a morning of hiking at Starved Rock we yelped for a place to eat lunch. yelp directed us towards The Canal Port. We walked in around noon and a VERY unhappy/unfriendly hostess grunts out that there will be a 20 minute wait. Enough with that noise, we promptly turned around and walked out. We walked across the street and saw Joy and Ed's special board outside promoting a jalapeno jack burger and decided this was more our style anyway. :) We walked in and found a table. Our server came up and told us the specials and gave us menus and gave us time to decide. We ordered some Summer Shandy and decided on the jalapeno burgers. We ordered and went to wash up in their tiny, very clean restroom and by the time we were all through with that our food had arrived. It was a huge burger, a HUGE mound of fries and all the dressings for the burger on the side. The burger was cooked to a medium well (we were not asked how we wanted it cooked) but was still very juicy and delicious. The fries were delicious. We were quite impressed. Our server was attentive and friendly. We overall enjoyed our meal and were happy to not have to wait 20 minutes for probably a pricier but equally tasting lunch across the street. They do close promptly at 1:30 though so get there early and they do not accept credit cards but do have an atm with a $2.25 surcharge. The only odd thing about our visit was it seemed our server's family was there and she was sitting down eating lunch between taking care of us and the one other table occupied. Not horrible, but I'm not sure how sanitary that is. Just an observation.

I hate giving a mom and pop establishment a really bad review, but this place needs a lot of updates...mostly regarding the food. I'm sure the bar area can be a good time (what isn't with alcohol?), but if you're interested in visiting them for a dining experience, don't walk, run. Run. Away. The Coffee: Disgusting, watered down, weird after taste The "Chicken": Processed cutlets purchased from the frozen foods section of walmart. Rubber garbage Sauteed Mushrooms: Overpriced, over-salted, overrated The "salad" bar: They should call it the "yellow slop bar"; or consider putting actual vegetables in place of the different variety of "salads" they have in place (ie: Potato, macaroni, bean...and they did not look good). If Joy and Ed would add white table clothes to brighten up the place, it could look really cute! But they really need to invest in actual dinnerware (nix the Styrofoam plates!). if the owners are not actually interested in being chefs, I think they should consider calling their "eatery" a BAR that serves fried food.

So I really don't know why this place is called a Supper Club on here or on the internet, but I'll go with it cause this is the place we went to...same address and everything. So we took a little day trip out to Starved Rock on Saturday and this was the place we stopped for some sandwiches before we went hiking so we could fuel up! From the outside it looks like a lot of the places out here in Utica, like a hole in the wall. It has the neon signs in the windows for different beers and I believe is advertised as a bar/restaurant. But when you walk in, it definitely has that bar feel, which was fine with us. We were seated immediately and given the tiny menu, so cute! There were like 10 things total on the little guy. We both ordered off the special board which consisted of about 5 more items! Woooo... I went with the egg salad on white and he went with the tuna melt on wheat and we ordered a side of fries with ranch. Everything came out quickly and it tasted pretty good, besides the fact that I believe they used Miracle Whip in the salads (egg and tuna) instead of mayo, but it didn't stop us from eating it so it couldn't have been that bad, right!? So we finished and got our check without even having to ask, which was nice...and the total for that lunch of ours......drum roll please...$7.45!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously...are you kidding me?!?! I was blown away! I really didn't pay too much attention to the prices so you can imagine my face when we got it...I thought it had to be wrong! But no...the Egg Salad was $2.50, Tuna Melt was $3.00 and the fries were $1.50...wow! So, we of course, felt bad that this waitress probably wasn't making any money all day that we left her $5. The least we could do! So if you are ever about to hiking at Starved Rock and just want a quick, cheap bite to eat...stop in here and give it a try!
