Yep, my mom used to come here, and I've been here a couple of times. It's the type of old-fashioned place you only see in movies or read about in books. Yep, it's really, truly Middle America in a truly Midwestern town. Sure, you may never visit Taylorville, Illinois, but if you do, stop by Bill's for a toasted cheese (a/k/a grilled cheese), fries, and a Coke. Aaaaah... the real thing!

Left and did not eat the food. Can not believe this place has a clearance from health dept. Group ordered food and it took thirty plus minutes to get it.I mean really its burgers and corn dogs! Stuff that should take no more than ten minutes if you making from sscratch. If you're thinking of eating here please take a look at the grill area before you order it hasn't had a quality cleaning in what looks Lome years. No I'm not talking black and brown discoloration I'm talking built up chinks of old nasty geese. I wouldn't cook on something like that at home so I'm not eating off it here. Ohh and its expensive to top it all off. Just a cheese burger is nearly five dollars. That's airport pricing for Podunk quality. If u value your money and health you won't take the chance but go see what I'm talking about cause if you really look with an open mind to what I'm saying you won't miss it.

This goes out to Elsie and Irene....back in the 70s.early 80s there weren't two better ladies that could run the grill, wait on customers and tell the best joke you ever heard...I miss them both!

After the THIRD time my group's order was given away to customer's taking their food to go, I had had enough and complained. Maybe they didn't think we would notice since it was 1am, but an almost 45 minute wait for three burgers and a couple of side items is ridiculous. Unfortunately, the nice Taylorville locals have limited options that time of night/early morning, so I guess they think they can get away with treating their customers like that. The burger was tasty, but (unlike the other customers who enjoyed our order several times over) we didn't get any condiments. Lol~maybe we were "punished" since I finally got the nerve to speak up. The signs plastered on the walls were entertaining, but I wouldn't go out of my way to return there when I visit again from Chicago.

Great local flavor. Should be on diners, drive ins, and dives. Definitely a dive. Fried mushrooms, Burgers, Milkshakes all made to order. Late night snack to drunken grease meal or just lunch. So good.

Oh my Lord!! This place is delicious. It's quaint (small), which makes for a friendly relaxing atmosphere. The burger was juicy and had that nice sear that I love. The bacon was crisp & melt in your mouth. The bun was toasted and light. The tomato & lettuce were fresh, crisp and just the right amount. I ordered broccoli bites to go with my burger...bursting with flavor and not oily at all. I should have asked for honey mustard, instead of ranch, but that didn't change how good they were. All in all, we will be back again and again. Next time I'm going with breakfast.

Cash only .. And, soon to have a 2 pounder. 4 patties high. Try the burgers as simple as you can. Try them when you're drunk. definitely a place to go when drunk

Took a chance on something new. Hole in the wall but clean and the best handmade burger we have had in a long time. Being from Chicago we are always looking for a good bar burger and we found one here. Will we go back? Of courseFive stars to Bills

I've heard good things about this place so I popped in with some family. We only had floats and shakes and they were good but the ladies behind the counter didn't seem too pleased to be there and the vibe was very negative. They take no credit/no debit. No substitutions regardless of reason. No exceptions. Unapologetic and actually rude. They had no diet root beer and wouldn't substitute another diet soda for a float. So we had to buy a soda and ice cream separately and make our own- which cost more. I even think that our creativity to get around the rules ticked them off. Won't be back.ever.

I love bills. A little hole in the wall. Great burgers! The only thing is you buy everything ala cart. It gets pricy! They also don't except anything but cash!

As an out-of-towner, I've never come here drunk. But I have driven from all the way over in Springfield just to have lunch here. The burgers are amazing! The double is so large that even I can't finish one, and I can demolish a buffalo chicken horseshoe at D'Arcy's!

Never been a fan of this place but it does feel warm and comfortable inside some of their food is great some was over cooked and their milkshakes are really gross
