One of my favorite local restaurants. Great dogs, beef, and gyros. Many go to the competitor a few blocks north but I don't like the crowds and college cafeteria feel: hurry up so we can have a seat.

I work in the area and enjoy going to lunch at the many local eateries. Unfortunately, I am just going to avoid this place! Today, I went through the drive thru and while waiting near the side and back of restaurant there is a pvc pipe running to the parking lot where I was waiting for my order. The pipe drains grease from the restaurant into the parking lot and the sight and odors was 1000% disgusting! I have no idea why I even waited for my salad but I did and that was 1000% disappointing! It was chunky pieces of iceberg lettuce, some bland cooked chicken, maybe 3 cherry tomatoes halves, a few slices of green pepper and onion and some cucumbers. You're better off going to Portillio's which is just south of this place.

I lived in Dekalb for several years, and strongly preferred this Tom and Jerry's over the one in Dekalb (it used to be the same owner, it is no longer). I never had a problem with incorrect orders in the drive thru, and my food was always tasty. I am picky on my gyros, and was not a fan of their cucumber sauce, however. I went more for the hotdogs and fries. Other people I know really dug the gyros, and I was a huge fan of their ribs. Now living in small town MN, I do miss Tom and Jerry's quite often.

I've had their food twice and it's terrible! I figured it might be better the second time around but definitely not. My friend just got food poisoning from there last week as well. Eat at your own risk

We had delivery and the food was good. I had the Cajun chicken with mozzarella on a pita and my husband had a gyro. The food was good but my Cajun chicken was not spicy at all. I was expecting it to be hot. The fries seem to be reheated but overall it was just ok.

This place is AMAZING! The food is always TOP NOTCH, COOKED TO ORDER, FRESH, & DELICIOUS! The owner is so friendly, as is the entire staff that works there (kitchen staff and all). The ONLY place to go eat if you want everyday food..burgers, french fries, italian beef, etc. Reminds me EXACTLY of the restaurant my family owned as I grew up as a child. P.S. Once they special made me a sandwich I always used to eat as a child and it tasted exactly as I remembered it. No fuss or anything, just explained to them what I wanted and they said NO PROBLEM!!

So when I moved out here in 2004, we ate pretty regularly at Tom and Jerry's, but the longer I've lived here the less and less we eat here, and I think we are finally done and over this crap shack. They just cant seem to get a order right to save them. In the past 3 times I have ordered food here, 1 delivery and 2 walk-in/to-go, they have screwed something up or forgotten something. Its fun to order cheese burgers, and then open the containers in front of them to show them they ONCE AGAIN forgot the cheese. Ordered a Chili dog with Chili, Mustard and Onions... got a cheese dog. The hot dogs aren't even Vienna beef dogs. No thank you... no sir. I say, stay the heck away from this place... try Riccardi's Red Hots for dogs and beef etc.

No more chances. Ordered 2 Chicago Style hot dogs at window. She kept asking if we wanted everything on them, at least 3 time. Qhwb we got to the window I asked what would be on the hot dog. She starts the list with "ketchup" ( their menu lists hot dogs AND Chicago Style hot dogs.) We started to pull away when I realized the bag was light, only 1 hot dog. We backed up and when what apeared to be the manager, a ahorter girl, black hair with glasses asked to see our receipt. She said we only paid for on. We said ok we can pay for the other one. She repeated we only paid for 1. We repeated we would pay for another.after 3 or 4 of these ridiculous exchanges, I asked "would it be easier if we juat went ro Portillos to get the 2nd dog?" She said "fine" closed the window and walked away. We kept trying, they did not.

This place should close down! ! The burgers have no flavor!! Have they ever heard of a little seasoning salt! !??? The only thing was ok was the French fries mainly because they are the crinkle cut.

Tom & Jerry's will always have a special place in my heart as the eatery that introduced me to Chicagoland fast food. I had my first gyro here in the early 80's and thus began a lifelong infatuation with seasoned beef and lamb browned on a gyrating vertical spit. It set the mark by which all future gyros would be judged. Thank you T&J's!

Great local burger joint! Everything is fresh and made to order. Their gyros are second to none, and huge!! Seriously, you have to eat some of the "insides" with a fork before you can even think about picking it up. Burgers are amazing, I love the mushroom and swiss. They have surprisingly great salads, so fresh, the grilled chicken salad is my favorite. I like their beef better than Portillo's, and besides, I'd rather give my money to a local place. Prices aren't bad, higher than McDonald's next door, but you get what you pay for. The place is always kept very clean, as well. Highly recommended when you're looking for a casual, friendly place to get a bite to eat.

Haven't been to this place in years. I now remember why. Ordered a Gyro with fries and a Chicogo dog. I don't know how anyone would think these Gyros are the bomb. I thought it was terrible. The onions looked clear..as if they had accidentally frozen in the cooler. The meat was very light in color as if it were chicken instead of the typical Gyro meat. The Tzatziki sauce had a strange flavor to it. The pita bread was the only thing I liked about it...that saying after a few bites the whole thing hit the garbage. What a waste of money. The Chicago dog was only ok. The bun seemed a bit stale as it cracked apart. I dug into my fries first and they were bland with no salt on them at all. We went through the drive through window. One good thing was that the food was hot and the window person was friendly. Next time I go for a Gyro I will drive much farther east.

Tom and Jerry's is an above-average Greek-American-Chicagoland fast food joint. They have solid gyros, burgers, chicken sandwiches, Greek salads and a plethora of delicious offering from the deep fryer including pizza puffs, mozz sticks, onion rings, fried mushrooms and poppers. Their hot dogs and beefs are just okay, I would go to Portillo's down the road for those, but Portillo's doesn't have some items that Tom and Jerry's does, most importantly Gyros! Much better than its DeKalb equivalent because they just seem to put in a little more care into the food than the DeKalb location by doing things like serving the food 'hot".

The only reason I gave the restaurant two stars is because the food is actually somewhat decent. However, the service is terrible and everything is overpriced. The two times I went in, I ordered my food and was charged more for my food than the advertised prices on the menu. Upon pointing this out to the cashier, she became very surly, sighed, and said "well do you want me to put 75 cents back on your credit card, SIR?" And this has happened not once, but twice. I would not recommend this restaurant. If you're in the mood for that sort of food, you can afford to go down the street to Portillo's.

I am really upset about this place. I ordered food to be deliverd to my job for my lunch a buffalo chicken salad that was disgusting...chicken was cold and the ranch sauce smelled old. I called to let them know and this is a first for me I hate complaining about my food. Whoever picked the phone was clueless and told me that I was a liar pretty much. The chicken was ice cold he said that the chicken was supposed to be hot..I tell him its cold he tells me he saw the cook sautee the chicken..So now i am a liar i took time from my lunch to call you to lie.....LMAO Finally he offered me a credit that I won't ever use and will spread the word to everyone at my job about their nasty food and unpleasant way of fixing their nasty mistakes.

Excellent food and service. Great hot beef and gyros. Fish sandwich was normal but who goes to a gyro place looking for fish

As a lifelong DeKalb/Sycamore resident, I've grown up with Tom and Jerry's. Things have changed a lot , as the years have passed, and not for the better. The food quality is inconsistent. Sometimes its good and others not. Service is usually sub standard. Too much attitude, and orders are OFTEN screwed up. It's not that difficult to do things right, but these people seem to lack any attention to detail, or care to please their customers. There is far too much competition, in these two towns, to have to put up with ok food, and poor service. I'd take my hard earned dollars and go somewhere else.

A month and a half ago, I was disappointed in the direction that T&J's was going. I was disappointed in the food, disappointed that a great place was starting to go downhill. I was seriously considering giving up T&J's for good. However, I decided to give T&J's one more chance 31 August, and I am glad I did. I don't know what happened in the last month, but whatever it is...keep it up. Food is great, the atmosphere is great. Staff is great.

Loved the prices and the gyro combo. Excellent greek salad alongside the gyro platter. Gyro tasted excellent, but the cucumber sourcream sauce was only okay. It didn't taste as if there were any cucumber.

3 stars overall 5 stars for the Gyro and the soup. Like Josh H's review - Tom and Jerry's is a Gyro place that serves a lot of other stuff. You can get a better dog at Portillo's, the chicken sandwiches and meatball sandwich are pretty good - The gyro's though could be the best in the Dekalb County Area. Also, their soup is made fresh from scratch daily - they have the best vegetable beef soup I have EVER had. $2 Tuesdays, meal of the month and other specials are real bargains - become a fan on facebook to stay up to date on specials. Check it out, it's worth a shot for sure.

It looked like a little crappy shack and smelled like one too. Walking in I looked at the menu and saw how many people were nomming away inside and thought, "Oh look! This must be a little gem in this town!" So then we eat, and I bit into this plastic rock. Now at this point I need to explain that the "plastic rock" is all part of the metaphor that I mean to say that the little gem = plastic rock and the town = movie set/fake etc. You get the point. It wasn't really all that great. I was expecting so much more. Especially from a place named after a violent cartoon couple that occupied so much of my childhood TV time. What the cons come down to is that the quality of the food is just average. So it's like...a TASTY plastic gem... Pro's: Homemade soup everyday Delivery/Take-Out Good location Daily/Monthly specials Filling. I had the garlic beef wrap, my friends both ordered ribs (half slab with coleslaw and garlic bread for under 10 bucks. Wow.) However, like I said, the quality lacks, but it's still good for a cheap meal.

Tom & Jerry's, you are always there when we need you. The turkey sub is great, reuben is decent, and the baklava will get me through a craving for Detroit-area baklava. Take your hung-over kids here: nothing an order of cheese fries can't fix!

Tom and Jerry's of Sycamore is a mixed bag. I work down the street, and have slowly gone through quite a few of the menu items. Hot dogs are okay, prefer Portillo's for a Chicago-style. Hamburgers: meh. Chicken sandwiches are satisfying, garlic beef wrap is good but only if you're in the mood. Fries are bland, plenty of deep-fried options that aren't that different from most other deep-fried options in most other restaurants. T&J Sycamore is really a Gyro place that sells a ton of other stuff. Gyros are the single best reason to visit. They are not some super-high quality authentic Greek recipe, just a very satisfying, affordable Gyro that is salty, spiced, comes with good garlicky tzatziki (cucumber/yogurt sauce), and really well filled. I prefer extra-crispy meat, it improves the texture and brings out the salt and spices in the meat a bit more. The daily soups are also really nice, especially when winter rolls around. But to summarize: an alright place with very good gyros.

A-OK because they are named after a cartoon and also because one night while walking home from a show at the house, they offered me some warm, comforting soup- for free! Thanks Tom & Jerry's!

One nice feature of Tom and Jerry's is that they have an extensive menu selection. In addition to hot dogs and burgers, they have gyros, pizza, and sub sandwiches. Overall the food is not any better than what is offered at other establishments of this type. On Tuesday's they give you a two dollar off coupon which can be used on another day.

Flavorful Gyro sandwich complemented with cucumber sauce and crispy crinkle cut fries is one mighty fine lunch. Quick service with plenty of seating. I like the way they call your name out on the microphone when your order is up...too cool! I noticed T&J sells ribs....mmmm, next on my appetite hit list.

Well, I found this place by chance while I was looking for a place to have lunch by using my GPS. However, it turned out a nice experience. Gyro plate was satisfying in terms of the amount of food, and helpful staff comes as bonus. Price, also, is pretty good for a lunch meal. I recommend if you're around and looking for a place to sit and have tasty lunch for a reasonable price.

Ran through the drive thru to get some food for the family on the way home for the first time. It was so gross. The grilled cheese sucked. The gyro was crispy and the sauce had no flavor, but most importantly the Chicago red hot hotdog was not red...it was a funky color and had a strange consistency. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because of the pizza puff. Never ever ever going back.
