Went there tonight with my mom, sister and brother. We had read two articles in local newspapers and a few reviews online so we were expecting the food to be a bit more phenomenal then it was. My mom makes amazing homemade pizza with lots of fresh ingredients and so far there have been very few restaurants that measure up to her standards. This was yet another let down. First I'd like to mention that the hostess informed us that it would only be a 10 minute wait. We sat in their "lounge" area for over 30 minutes. The waitress was very polite and attentive. She did her job well. We ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer. You pick three types of bruschetta to be served. We picked the artichoke, traditional and prosciutto bruschettas. The artichoke was very good. It was piled high and tasted delightful. The traditional was decent, with the usual italian bread and heaps of tomatoes and seasonings. I didn't try the prosciutto one. We also ordered two pizzas. One Margherita and one Diavolo pizza. I only had the marghertia pizza and I was expecting fresh mozzarella, chunks of tomato and much more basil. What was served was "chef boyardee" tomato sauce, layered with cheese and one single basil leaf on the entire pizza. It literally tasted like Spaghettios or Chef Boyardee on a pizza. It was very bland, had no fresh mozzarella, no chunky tomatoes. I was not impressed at all. Especially for the price. The overall ambience of the place is ok. It's in a prime location in the newest part of the renovations taking place in downtown St. Charles. The inside could use a little more warmth however. It was very dark when we first entered. The pictures make it look much nicer then it feels when it's full of people. It felt overly crowded with ever table full. I suppose if you wanted to get some after work drinks or have a cocktail hour this would be ideal, but for an overall "Italian" meal this is definitely lacking in quite a few areas. I would rather stay at home and have my mom make her homemade pizza on her pizza stone. So much better. More taste and just overall more character in the food then this place offers.
I like this place. The menu is pretty simple and the food is all done very well. One of my favorite items is the cannelli bean bruschetta - yum! My wife and i tried a couple simple pizzas and each was cooked perfectly. We did try a meat and cheese board as well which was good. We sat at the bar and the service was attentive, friendly and made great suggestions. We will return.
The burrata is to die for. Probably the best burrata I've ever had. We also ordered the cheese and meat plate (we let our server choose and he did a great job). Pizzas we just ok - it was not crispy! I expected more since this is a pizza joint.

We ended up stopping by to grab lunch on our way to the nearby park. What a little treat. I ordered steak tacos and they were delicious. Fun little place to grab a quick lunch - the dining area is really small so it may get crowded but great place to grab food to go and maybe do a picnic by the river or at the park (both are right across the street).
I absolutely love this place! I almost want to give it four stars because they are a little pricey but the tacos and guacamole are so good that I just can't do that to them. I ordered six steak tacos with lettuce, cheese, tomato, and avocado today and they were delicious (three for another person). It was about an $18 meal so I try to keep my visits here to a minimum. But when I do decide to treat myself I wish I had gotten six tacos for just myself! There guacamole is delicious and homemade. The service is fast and friendly. The bundling is unique and colorful. One of my top 2 favorite taco joints. And I'm Mexican and have eaten at A LOT of taco restaurants in Chicago!
The steak tacos and quesadillas are delicious. I don't branch out that much but whenever I am in the mood for Mexican this is the place I choose!

The food, as always, was excellent. This location is a bit smaller than other locations, but as it is with all of these types of places, if it's good food, who cares? Just go and scrounge down a #5, Mike's Way. If you're unsure, ask for a sample of the meat, they'll gladly hook you up. Enjoy!
I love the sandwiches this place makes....most of the time. Having been here on opening day everything was as good as it gets. Over time things have let us say gone some what off coarse. The biggest problem is the extreme turn over in help. Every time you go there it's new people. And many times these new people don't know what they're doing. All I can say to assure you get what you want is to baby sit the people who make your sandwich. If they screw it up have them remake it. Our last sandwich wasn't up to their normal standards and my wife didn't want to get the new guy in trouble. So we ate sandwiches we really didn't care for. And a note to the owners, train your people correctly and pay them enough to keep from having this big turnover. Or back to Potbelly's I go....
This is a great sandwich! They have a good variety to satisfy all tastes. The staff is friendly, too. The service takes a short wait but the meat is cut for each individual sandwich. At least the meat has flavor, unlike Subway. The only complaint is they always as "do you want the bacon?" When my sandwich comes with it according to the menu board. And, they missed the bacon the last two times :-((

Taco Fresco

Reviews:
I love this place. It seems I find my way into Taco Fresco at least once a week, and on many occasions it's two or three times per week. I honestly struggle to drive by the place without stopping, even when I am planning on dining elsewhere. The draw here for me is: 1. The salsa bar - offering about 6-8 different salsas with a variety of heat or mildness (I go for the hottest one...the "Gordo" salsa) 2. Price - I rarely spend more than $10 here, or $18 or so if I go with my wife. You order at a counter and they bring it to your table when it's done cooking. 3. Consistency - My food is always as good as the last time. I don't find that there are days when the chicken is bad, or the steak is grisly. 4. Cleanliness - It looks like they clean the place several times per day. This is a very clean restaurant. 5. Variety - Big menu and a lot of items to choose from. I have personally had their burritos, fajitas and nachos. All are top notch and leave me wanting for more. My wife loves their tilapia tacos and claims to have an addiction to them. Seeing as how I can barely hold my dining there to only once per week, and usually end up there two or three times, and love it every time, this place absolutely deserves a five star rating. I've sent many a person here, and all have come back raving.
Just decent. I'd say the food quality is about the same as chipotle. Service was good. Ordered take out from here and it only took about 10 minutes. Overall a great place to grab a quick bite to eat.
Delicious grilled vegetable burritos! I went to the old location a few times and was kind of sad to see it go, so I'm glad they reopened in STC and it seems just as good as it was before. I haven't tried too many things from the menu because I really love their grilled veggie burrito, so that's what I usually get. My coworkers and I used to get carry-out from here sometimes and everyone was always happy with their lunch. We also like all the salsa options! It's a good option for when you want Mexican food that's pretty fast and inexpensive, but at least a little healthier and higher quality than some fast-food restaurants. I think it's a good deal.

Go here at least 4-5 times a year, always phenomenol food. Classic and newer italian dishes, great wine selection.
I dined there with my family once and will never return. One of the dishes we ordered came with 3 tiny potato wedges and a piece of chicken; the same fare could have been purchased at KFC, I couldn't believe it! I also found a bug in my glass... for flavor, maybe? Definitely not worth the money. Go to any of the pubs featured along Main Street and you can get better food for half of the price!
This was the first time we have been to Francesca's and went on a Wednesday evening at 5:30p. It was not crowded and were seated right away. The pasta dishes that we ordered were very good, but I have to agree with the other reviews that it was a tad pricey. The portions were generous, but for the price, I would have thought a cup of soup or house salad would have been included. Bread was served and was warm and delicious. I felt the liquor prices, especially the beer prices, were quite inflated. However we opted for the martini's that were on special that evening for $5.00. The place started to fill in as we finished our dinners, but the noise level was not as loud as I had anticipated. Service was fine, no complaints there. We both enjoyed our dining experience, but it will be more of a special occasion place due to the prices.

My favorite Sweet Tomatoes of them all, here in the Chicago area. Well organized and great service. There are two Hispanic fellas that are so nice, please be sure to leave a couple dollars tip, they deserve it!!
I have been a fan of Sweet Tomatoes for years, but my most recent visit was expensive and the food was horrible. I'm not sure what's going on but the food options are skimpy and over priced. The bakery items (muffins, etc.) were awful -- not the same flavor and the cookies were puke worthy. The soups were also gross. I'm not sure if we just came on an off day or what, but we won't be going there again. Before you buy -- go in and look. If it looks skimpy and the bakery items look like they have been baked in an oil slick, leave. So disappointing too because we used to love going here!!!
Soup's and salad's. I have been to a couple of sweet tomatoes. It's a regular chain but I got some decent friendly service but it was ok experience. The tomato basil soup was pretty good.. The clam chowdar was ok. They have a limited time garlic asian soup or something - which was pretty good too. As usual the tuna terragon was really good.. :D.. Everything else in the bakery section was Ok.. Nothing else special :)

Los Burrito’s Mexicanos

Reviews:
I'm not really a fan (hence, no 4 stars), their food is mediocre. One bonus to dining in is that they serve beer and margaritas, but really that's not enough of a draw for me to keep coming back. Last time I went to Los, I had the vegetarian burrito since a friend had suggested it to me. The server was really sweet and prices are fair, but the food itself left much to be desired. The burrito was large, but only consisted of beans, lettuce, tomato and rice. Now, even Qdoba throws in some grilled veggies! This place is supposed to be authentic Mexican but the burrito lacked any flavor. I was extremely disappointed both in the burrito itself and my friend for making such a terrible suggestion. My bf prefers the burritos here to any other local spot, so it may just be the vegetarian burrito that sucks. While on the topic of vegetarian dishes, they don't serve gorditas de rajas. I love those and have found them to be a staple at most places since everywhere has the ingredients...but nope, no gordita for me. The guacamole is a reasonable portion and fresh, but not my favorite. It's very basic: avocado, cilantro, onion and lime. The chips are good but not as crispy as I'd like. I've also had their Chile relleno, which was no great shakes. Everything I've tried here has been mediocre at best...except the horchata. That was pretty good. They have great service, are always friendly and prompt, and are open til midnight on most nights (if not 1 a.m.), but Mexican restaurants are run of the mill in the Chicago burbs, and this one doesn't do anything for me. I prefer Jalisco off rt 31 when in the STC area.
These S.O.Bs put a pebble in my Burrito! I hate this place. Trashy food in a trashy place served by trashy people. Don't eat here.
The food was pretty meh. I have definitely had better, even for it's low price. Service was OK. There were many people dining in and we received our food relatively fast. I've heard great things about this place but I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. Mediocre food and service.

Recently took a trip to saint charlie's place for a birthday. The food itself was delicious, and although it was expensive and service was slow, the steak au poivre alone was enough to deserve 4 over 3 stars. I would give it 3.5 if I could. Food- We decided to skip apps since it was pricey and it took a long time for the waitress to come take our drink orders. So straight to dinner. I had the steak au poivre and holy balls it was good. The steak was cooked perfectly to medium, the mashed potatoes were creamy and prepared steakhouse style with the skins in them, great asparagus, and that cognac sauce. Tasted like my grandmas champagne gravy and that is the highest grade of compliment I can give. Would recommend this dish to anyone. Warning: don't order the kids steak. My ten year old brother cut it in half, but I could have eaten it in one bite, and it was fifteen bucks. Service- Nice but slow. Forgivable because of how busy they were. This restaurant definitely has a lot to work on, but because of the amazing steak, I'm giving it four stars. I would highly recommend for special occasions, but otherwise there are less expensive options.
So delicious! Went here for date night and had such a great time. We shared their steak for two. To die for!!! The chef came by and told us how he cooked it. Great old school steakhouse atmosphere. The drinks were also very good. We had a French martini and a regular martini. Very yummy! We will definitely be back.
8/25/2015 My wife and I enjoy coming here occasionally for the ambiance in the lounge and the good food. The service has been consistently unpleasant the last few times. I'm not sure who the older angry lounge server is, but she has some anger issues. After waiting at a bar table for 10 minutes I finally went to the bar itself asking who our server might be. She snapped at me "I am! I'll be right there". The lounge was not overly busy - and we are patient people. She finally came over and asked us what we wanted to drink. It was a couple of martini's. She came back with the drinks - set them down without a word and she was gone. We wanted to eat as well. So now I have to go back up to get some menus. The general rudeness persisted, culminating with our expensive appetizers being more or less dropped in front us, the dirty dishes not removed throughout the evening and the check silently dropped off. No thanks - nothing. The bill hovered around $130.00. The food is great - hand down. The martini's are delicious. The service though for the last two times was so bad - it breaks my heart to move on. It's a wonderful looking restaurant and a great place for a quiet busy couple to relax, however lousy service just puts a little back rain cloud over everything. If we were treated even average, this would be a 4 or 5 star review. Update: After reading previous reviews I think we had Amanda as well. Our wife and I will try again and if she is gone and the service is where it needs to be for a restaurant of this caliber I will certainly adjust the review.

Puebla Modern Mexican

Reviews:
The hubby and I went to Puebla last Saturday afternoon. We arrived at 3:30 and had the run of the place. It was awesome, the opposite of the Bien Trucha chaos that can sometimes affect my time there. Unlike BT, Puebla stays open all day. By the time we left, the patio tables were full...we were alone inside the whole time. We opted for the Piña Guacamole. It was good. BT wins the guac race, but the bean dip and chips go to Puebla. We loved both. We didn't have a cocktail, but I do want to go back and try their creative margaritas for sure. We had water, and let me tell you, it was awesome water. Super cold, no ice needed...a very nice perk. So yes, we were sort of boring on this trip, our son was at a birthday party and we wanted to get in and get out, so it was water, guac and tacos. So let's get to the best part, the tacos! We ordered the carne and pescado. The carne are steak, and super tasty steak at that. They are topped with delicious caramelized onions, an avocado sauce and cheese. The pescado tacos were grilled Mahi Mahi, we were so impressed with them. They has a pico de gallo type topping and avocado. They were the best tacos I've ever had. We can't wait to go back and really enjoy Puebla...getting some sides and margaritas.
The décor has an openness and the feel of being trendy. The drink menu with tequila varieties lends to the trendiness. The food is bland. (The chili relleno was large and looked appetizing--bland!) This was also true of the appetizer of guacamole (no spice) and the flan (undistinguished). The waitress was attentive, assuring us our meal's delay was the languid kitchen. Come here again? No thanks!
I enjoyed a late weekday lunch at Puebla. It's an attractive, modern room with high ceilings and hard surfaces, so noise may be an issue for those seeking a conversation-friendly venue. The décor is sort of nueva Mexicana, and the lightness of the room shows it off to good effect. Since the place was nearly empty, service was quite attentive. The menu consists of upscale takes on traditional Mexican-style favorites. We enjoyed pineapple guacamole and deliciously fresh, crispy chips. Then we sampled tacos. Unfortunately, diners cannot mix tacos within an order of four -- they all have to be the same. The three of us solved that by ordering different tacos, then trading among ourselves. All were delicious: my favorite were the al pastor (a bit more picante than others I've had), followed by a shrimp special (tender, juicy camerones), with steak coming in third (good, but not very exciting). A side of elote Mexicano was sweet, though a bit bland. All the taco plates and the side were very nicely presented. For dessert, a chocolate brownie was tasty & indulgent. Because of the noise factor, I'm not sure I'd care for the ambiance if the place was busy. For an off-hours lunch, though, it was very nice, indeed. For quality of cooking, I'd compare Puebla favorably with Geneva's Bien Trucha; for ambiance, BT has more of a hipster vibe, while Puebla is a bit tonier. How nice that there are such good upscale Mexican places in the Fox Valley!

Not sure what all the hype is about. There are plenty of better pizza places in the Tri-Cities area...let alone Chicago. Bland sauce and crust make for a boring pie. I would give the pizza about 2.5 stars, however, it was the managers refusal to accept a valid coupon we received from Welcome Wagon that is the reason for a single star. The coupon was for 50% off a Large Deep Dish or Extra Large Thin Crust - a great deal to be sure - but they said they never issued the coupon (complete BS) and instead gave us $3 off which might have paid for the gas we used driving from Batavia. Nice trick to get us into the restaurant, but we won't be back...ever.
Some colleagues and I decided to head to Giordano's during our national training and we all enjoyed the pizza. We had the meat and more meat, supreme, and I think pepperoni large pizzas. All were delicious. Their appetizers could've been better though as it was pretty small and consisted of nothing special. The service was 7/10. We didn't experience anything too bad from what I've seen the other Yelp users have posted. We'll be back next time we're in town.
One of my top ten WORST service experiences at a restaurant ever. We had an advanced reservation for a large party, and were told that the restaurant would be ready for us, no problem. It took us two and a half hours for our meal. They mixed up our orders, never brought stuff, brought the wrong stuff. Our kids were miserable having to wait so long. Never once did they apologize, and they had the audacity to insist on a 20% service tip included in the bill. And the restaurant, outside of our party, had only a few other groups, so they could hardly blame it on being busy. We totally understand that it takes them a while to bake the pizzas, but it took over two hours for some of us to get our orders. They seemed totally confused and disorganized, almost as if they had grabbed random people off the street and asked them to work the restaurant for the evening. The pizza was good, but hardly memorable, and definitely not worth putting up with the incompetent service. Avoid.
