Just a quick stop on my way home so I only can comment on the buffet. Quality was good, decent amount of choices, and quite a few other things than just pizza were offered.

Feels like you've stepped into a 70's mafia movie with dark outdated decor. I was with a large group (in the middle) and they forgot to bring my salad. We had to remind the waiter twice, then he had it wrong and had to send it back. By the time entrees started making it out it had been over an hour (and not a single refill on our drinks) and several of us had to get our meals in to-go containers as we had other things to get done. When I finally got the chance to eat, the food was mediocre and the breadsticks had no flavor.

This is my 2nd time at this restaurant. The first time was a year ago. We ordered a pizza and the crust was awful. This time I ordered a beef poor boy sandwich and onion rings. The sandwich was extremely dry and the bun was ice cold. The onion rings were obviously frozen and hard as a rock and flavorless. Even after dipping them in the au jus to soften them, they were still non-edible to me. I just won't be able to go out to this restaurant again. The staff was very kind, though.

My girlfriend and I stopped by this place on out way back from a long road trip, it's just a couple minutes off I-55 so the location is pretty convenient. The place was pretty full when we went which to me was a good sign that the food was good. The pizza was delicious, and the toasted ravioli were amazing. The service however was a little lacking.. Our waitress barely made eye contact and was overall pretty short with us. It also didn't help that she pretty much just threw our pizza tray down in front of us on the table. We also saw our waitress was very rude with some elderly guests near by us. It wasn't exactly the kind of service you'd like after 8 hours of driving. I usually make an effort to tip, but with this service, or really lack thereof, I didn't feel bad not leaving anything. In conclusion, Mario's is a great place to grab some really good reasonably priced Italian food in the Springfield area, but our experience with the waitress is whats giving this place 3 stars.

Bad service. High prices. This place back in the day was so nice. We have tried to go back 4 times and have bad experiences every time. We won't try a 5th time.

Fantastic enough for a group in town for a cheer competition, great for kids, reasonable price. Close to highway if your headed back to Chicago. I found it through AAA app, however the manager denied us any discount and kinda made me feel like I was scamming for asking. Said she hadn't heard of AAA--sounds reasonable. Good pizza, salad, drink special for the family. On Sundays.

Their lasagna is fantastic!! My wife likes another one from a different place that is mainly a cheese lasagna but every time I go for a take-out, I also order from this place for my lasagna ... This means 'yes' I drive to two places for the take-out but it's that good!! Their lasagna has a little bit of a sausage kick that really gives it a ton of flavor!! They also have other great food but I can never pass up their lasagna!

I went to the one on Mansion Road. I was expecting more out of this place since it was touted as a great buffet. The buffet did offer a good selection of pasta, pasta salads and pizza. The pasta salads were good, but the pizza was average at best. The people are very nice and service was good.

Went to Mario's last night after a Springfield Sliders game. Considering it was the 3rd of July, the restaurant was not busy at all. We were quickly seated. Our waitress came to us quickly and took our drink orders. Service was great overall. For starters, we ordered a house salad. For our meal, we ordered the XL Mario's special pizza, which was sausage, green peppers, mushrooms, and onions. The pizza was thin and crispy, which was excellent. Overall, if you're in the area and looking for an excellent pizza (haven't tried their other food yet...) Mario's is an excellent choice.

I ordered take-out from here to bring back to my hotel room. I only looked at the menu on their website and then called in my order so I can't comment on anything inside. The person taking my order was quite perky and friendly. It took 20 minutes to prepare the pizza and they stated it would be at the drive-through window... I figured I would find it when I got there. I had to wait in the parking lot about 10 minutes for my 20 minutes to be up. I then drove to the drive-through which was a window in the back.... just like a window in a house. It made me chuckle a little, but I also thought how brilliant it was and so convenient for me not to have to go inside to get my pizza. The pizza was good. I got sausage and mushroom. There was plenty of toppings and the mushrooms were fresh, not canned (yuck)... so that was excellent! The crust was thin, not super-thin, it held the piece when you picked it up, but certainly not thick. It was cut in squares so if that's not your thing ask for something different when you order. I have to judge a place off one pizza and not setting foot in the door, so clearly I'm no expert, but I thought this was quite tasty. .... found this on Yelp and thanks to other Yelpers for the recommendation :)

Not to far off I-55, very "family" style Italian restaurant. Lots more than just pizza. Good prices too! The menu is pretty extensive and very reasonable. We had a big salad (Italian) with lots of toppings and a pizza. The pizza was good, but not great. Better than any chain though. We had two drinks, pizza and salad for under $25!

We love this place have never had a bad meal here...Wish we lived closer so we could visit more. Lindsay L. said it's a little "supper club-esk" she's observant as it used to be the Park View Supper Club.....Lot's on the menu and very solid.....

My family and I have been here countless times and it's always "okay." Nothing spectacular, the inside needs a remodel. I got vegetable lasagna the last time we went and it was the worst I've ever had. It was frozen vegetables (hard green beans) with some tomato sauce. I couldn't even finish it! The creamy italian salad dressing is very good and the pizzas are decent.

It is a little "supper club-esk", but people in Springfield are sleeping on Mario's, it is really very good. Top 2 best pizza in Springfield and our server was awesome! It is hard to find anything good to eat in this town that isn't a chain. Mario's is a definite keeper!

I have driven by this place for 20 years. Yelp gave me the courage to stop in with my wife and 11/14 year old boys after the Cirque Du Soleil show Yelp was right again Simple place with good service and great pizza. We had the toasted ravioli and fried zucchini for apps. I would rank them as average, but fine. We split a 16 inch pizza 3 ways. Veggie on half. The other half was split between Mario's special and cheese. All four of us left happy. In fact, the 14 year old wanted to know when we were going back to Springfield for a return trip.

I used to go here every year for my birthday as a kid. I'd have the chicken bacon ranch pizza every time. It's the best I've ever had and no one can compare to it. I haven't been there in years, and I'm sure its still fantastic.

Overall, not a bad italian restaurant. Good food, reasonable prices, nice selection of beer and wine. My only complaint was our server, who managed to spill my beer, forget my wife's italian sausage, and then engage in a lively conversation of who's tent she'd be sleeping in with the bartender for 20 minutes, instead of being attentive to her diners

After driving around town for about a half hour we finally found a place that wasn't completely packed on a Sunday night. Went off the other reviews here and decided to give it a try. Family owned atmosphere, nothing fancy but clean. Waitress was very attentive and friendly. Ordered tour of Italy for appetizer, your basic fried food fare but tasty nonetheless! My husband and I both ordered sampler platter type entrees to sample as much of the menu as possible. Lasagna was great, fettuccine Alfredo was kind of bland. Roasted red pepper ravioli was good but a little zesty. Overall pretty good food for the money, would definitely come again.

I went to the Chatham store on Wednesday April 10th 2013 for lunch. I must of thrown them a curve ball because i did not order the buffet. My Italian beef and sausage combo sandwich was horrible the sausage was scorched earth overdone dry and crusty! The Italian beef was not much better(2 oz of meat)maybe on the sandwich was not smothered in Marinara and Cheese as touted in the Menu . When i mentoned this to the Cashier???? at my checkout (manager on duty ) I was treated indifferently and mocked when she asked" what do you expect for $8.50????? obviously much more then this store was willing to do to satisfy this customer so i end this by saying Sayonara you will never see me again

Great service, cozy local place... just don't order the calamari! Wow, it looked and tasted like an onion ring. No sauce or salt in the world could save those things. Their wine and beer selection was solid, along with the sauces and pasta. It looks to be a good place for groups, but it was too quiet for a first or second date.

I'm actually quite surprised I don't already see a review for this place. I tend to rate italian places by how good the lasagna is. This place...EXCELLENT. I don't believe I've had anything bad from this place. Excellent lasagna, excellent soups. They'll even mix up the sauces in whatever configuration you want generally. They don't like modifying their "tour of italy" type meals. You can sometimes get them to do it..but don't count on it. Other than that, great food, full bar, good service. You can't ask for more.

Were here visiting for the night, from Chicago. Were looking for some good pizza in town. Overall, very good. My kids loved the cheese pizza. I loved the BBQ chicken pizza with bacon and onions. A friend we are with commented that the BBQ pizza needed more sauce. The taste of Tuscany app was alright, pizza more impressive.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
