Bravo Pizza & Italian Restaurant

376 Prairie Hill Rd
South Beloit, 61080
Reviews:
I love this place. Great owner, always goes out of his way to say hi. I love the meatball sandwich and the Italian beef sandwich. mmmmm good
Ordered Bravo for the first time last night for Cozaroake garage party and delivery was prompt and pizzas were well liked by all. Everybody kept asking where the pizzas and wings came from. We definitely recommend them and know all the local pizza places. Disclaimer: we may or may not have been sober while eating the pizzas after 5 hours of sampling at screw city beer fest. Bravo to Bravo!
We went there for dinner last night because we read all the great reviews. I've never been more disappointed. Don't get me wrong, my expectations weren't too high. It is south Beloit. But it was simply unacceptable. The food was average. And the service was the worst I've had in a VERY long time. I ordered a bottle of wine and a glass of water. We also ordered 2 appetizers- bruschetta and mozzarella sticks. When they arrived my fiancé asked for a side of ranch. After 15 minutes went by another waitress came to clear the bruschetta plate and I had to ask her for the ranch. Also, the bruschetta was terrible. It looked and tasted like they had diced tomatoes, mixed them with vinegar and dry basil, left them in a bucket for several days and then placed them on small toasted pieces of bread. The waitress just dropped off my bottle of wine and a wine glass. It's not a big deal because I'm perfectly capable of pouring my own wine but she never did bring my water & with all the other issues I gave up on asking for it again. The next time that we saw our waitress again she was bringing our entrees. My fiancé had to tell her that we were both supposed to have salads as well. She did bring those very quickly and apologized for forgetting about us. She then asked if we wanted the bread (that she also forgot). We declined it since we already had our meals in front of us. The salads were good. I ordered the chicken Marsala and it was good as well. Not great, just good. My fiancé had the smothered chicken and she was pretty disappointed with it. It had pools of oil in the bowl and she described the flavor as having one note. When the waitress finally made her way back to check on us she was prompt about getting us to-go containers and bringing the check. I note the times when she was prompt because the entire rest of the visit was painfully slow. We waited 20 minutes for her to come back and take our credit card. We had finally had enough, so my fiancé just took our bill to the to-go counter so that we could pay, leave and never come back.

Happy Wok

Reviews:
This is fast Chinese food perfection! Everything is always cooked perfect and I have loved every menu item I have tried. Their service is fast and the dine in area is clean. I am most impressed with the friendly staff. A lot of them appear high school age and all have been nothing but polite and pleasant. My go to for take out Chinese!
I love this Happy Wok. I am a regular and I have never had a wrong order or any issues at all. Even though the staff changes often, they are always very polite and friendly! I absolutely love the teriyaki sticks and the teriyaki chicken meal. Also the spring rolls and the crab rangoon will make you come back for more. My fiancé simple loves the shrimp and chicken tried rice! I really can't say anything bad about this place. I will continue to go often.
Butter chicken or butter shrimp, delicious! They deliver to us in Beloit so we order lunch quite often. The crab rangoons are a favorite of everyone. Food is consistently good. Portions are excellent. Staff is always very nice. We have gone in blizzards to pick up, it's just that yummy.

Captain’s Galley

305 Oak Grove Ave,Ste A
South Beloit, 61080
Reviews:
I go for the meatball sub and I always leave completely satisfied. Completely satisfied. The other review on this place is spot on. This is the only other sandwich shop aside from the big chains in South Beloit. Do your self a solid and meander your lazy bones on over to the Galley. Also, if you order subs beyond the meatball extravaganza, start off with the smaller portions. I only say this as a caution to the winds that flow through your stomach. The large subs are quite monstrous and will dominate the most seasoned veterans. And no one needs a food induced coma at 230pm on a Tuesday, or do they?
The Beloit Wisconsin Convention and Visitors Bureau must have decided that Beloit would be the regional capital of sandwich shops because a Subway, Cousins, Quizno's, and Jimmy John's all welcome you to town. Like Buridan's Ass, visitors looking for a decent bite are hamstrung between equally lackluster alternatives. Horsefeathers, American consumer! South Beloit has an ace up its tattered sleeve in the Captain's Galley. The Captain's Galley is a short drive (long run) from the milquetoast subs you'll choke down in the Beloit Sandwich Corridor, and it's a short drive (long run) you shan't regret. Here's what you'll notice right out of the chute: *Entering the Galley is like like walking into a strange and glorious time portal that lets you off in the late 80s. Take special note of the family picture with Miss America 1987 hanging on the wall. It's right next to the cartoon sketch of the owner's family faring the sea. *Friendly service! The owner is a talkative chap and very accommodating. He's often got a joke at the ready so here's hoping you get lucky and he lets loose. Memory like an elephant on him, too, as he remembered me after a year-long absence. Most importantly the subs deliver at the Captain's Galley. Not only are they the size of Dom DeLuise's gams but they're a taste sensation. If you're a vegetarian then stick with the Landlubber which has a bunch of cheese. My favorite is the Mariner which boasts tuna and hardboiled eggs. A pal of mine once got juiced by his Italian beef from the Galley while driving. Probably not the best time to get juiced but it augured well for the meal. One scheduling note: The Galley is closed on Sundays, but a little strategy goes a long way. Buy two subs on Saturday to maintain homeostasis.
The Captains Galley is a little know treasure that features made to order sub sandwiches. This is a small family owned shop that stays true to the 'home made' feel and quality of the ingredients shines through. It is not real easy to find as it is a little off the beaten path in a little known town on the boarder. However, if you choose to make the voyage you will not be disappointed. I am in the Minneapolis area and every time I get even close I have to stop for a sandwich.

Denny’s

Reviews:
Happily surprised!! It's been quite some time since I had eaten at a Denny's and I was surprised at the nice tables and environment. The food was good (dinner) and the portion was perfectly sized. We will probably go back as it was good and well priced!
It's what you would expect from a Denny's except I have never been served so fast and there were a decent amount of people in the place. It was a bit longer than fast food but not much and much better when on the road!
This Denny's exceeded my expectations of food and service. They had a yummy veggie burger (more grainy than typical chain ones) that was customizable with a whole-wheat bun and toppings such as grilled onions, sauteed mushrooms and avocado. The accompanying french fries were quite decent. My wife enjoyed her healthy vegetarian omelet (she usually does not like omelets). We topped off our meal with a large cup of steaming hot chocolate. What really set our experience apart, though, was the service. We had just come from a long ballgame and we were cold. Traci, our waitress, was exceptional. She saw that the hostess was away and seated us. She also worked to get us our food quickly and even checked us out at the end. We felt completely cared for by Traci (hence, the five stars).

Hate to have to say it, but Mary's Place has closed, no signs of it re-opening.
CLOSED! As of 01/25/2015, they are out of business. Tried to stop there, but the building is locked up tight and the signs are down.
Nuttin' faincy, BUT... for what it is (self-titled "restaurant" with all day breakfast) good food and good prices. Biscuits and gravy available without meat, although I found the gravy a tad too buttery, yet nicely peppered. Others in the group had a hamburger and fries (decent fries with significant potato proportion), meaty B&G, and "The Huge Breakfast." THB was bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, and French toast (optional pancakes). Hashbrowns with heavy cooked top and slightly mushy center, nice, crispy bacon, and "just decent" eggs and French toast.
