We visited today and had a fantastic lunch! The pizza was outstanding and so were the arancini
We usually have a family pizza night once every 2 weeks or so, so we've tried almost every pizza joint within 10 miles of our house in Geneva in the past 10 years. Yet we hadn't tried this relatively new place in St. Charles. So we did. We ordered a medium cheese for the 2 kids (and OK, for us a bit too) and then a "Fresca Artisan Style" pizza (a "no red sauce" style pizza) for the adults. We all agreed when enjoyed them both. The bit hit for us adults was definitely the Fresca pizza we ordered. I absolutely loved the crisp crust and the fresh toppings. That pizza was gone within a few minutes. Then we stole a piece or two of the cheese pizza... it was.. good. The crust wasn't nearly as crispy as the Fresca pizza we ate. It was loaded with cheese... the kids loved it.. but it was almost too much. As some has stated it's very greasy, but hey that's what lots of cheese does when baked. We'd order here from again and definitely try more of their "Artisan Style" pizzas. We did pick up so I can't comment on the conditions of the pizzas with delivery, but when I picked them up they had just come out of the oven. 3 stars for the cheese and 4.5 for the Fresca, so 4 stars it is!
The Fox Valley finally has a "go to" pizza place! This was fantastic! Everyone loved it, even the kids! Thanks for making a great pie! Loved it! Loved it! Loved it!

Tried E & S Seafood and was impressed. Every item was cooked perfectly. We started with a scallop appetizer, which was four nicely flavored scallops, on a toasted bread with tomatoes. A very good start. Salads were very good, nice dressings. Entres were truly amazing. Perfectly cooked and flavored, lightly breaded, with a nice dollop of sauce to complement the seafood. We had walleye and halibut. Sides were nicely done also. The asparagus was cooked to exactly the al dente crispness required. Service was very good also. Prices were about $30 per entree. Excellent seafood restaurant.
My wife and I went for lunch and were very happy with Giovanni's food prep. I had the fish tacos and green rice. The tacos were good and the rice had some heat. My wife ordered New England clam chowder and it was delicious. She also had a grouper fish sandwich. I had a bite of her sandwich and thought it was really good. Prices are reasonable. The sign outside the strip mall reads E&S seafood market, it does not say Diamond seafood. In case you decide to visit.
Another fabulous dinner! The food, staff and entertainment make this restaurant consistently great. The owner/chef visited our table multiple times. We LOVE this place!

Smitty’s On The Corner

15 E Main St
Saint Charles, 60174
Reviews:
As far as ambiance goes, Smitty's is very...quaint. It tends to look like it's closed a lot of the time, but I realized on my most recent trip (yesterday) that the window in the door is incredibly grimy because it makes it look really dark inside and..closed. I don't even know if grimy is the word I'm looking for because I don't want to insinuate that the place is dirty, it's not. Anyhow, when I first arrived the two staff members behind the counter were chatting with a man that I assume was a regular. They didn't greet me right away, but that's okay because I didn't feel they were ignoring me either-- just wrapping up the conversation. I noticed while I was perusing the options that there were lots of sandwiches that catered to veggie/pescatarian diets which automatically bumps a place up in my book. They had a veggie sandwich on a croissant with a dill spread, egg salad, tuna salad and an "ultimate" grilled cheese. I couldn't decide so when I was asked to order I asked for a recommendation between the veg on croissant or ultimate grilled cheese. The man behind the counter said the ultimate was "pretty darn good" and my friend that frequents this spot had mentioned it previously. I ordered the ultimate grilled cheese and was blown away!! I wish it was bigger because it was amazing. I think it just had cheddar cheese but was loaded with other items such as sliced apples, avocado, red onion, and tomato. I really liked how they mashed up the avocado to ensure the sandwich didn't fall apart and sliced the apples super thin. With a pickle (included), my total was slightly over $6. The sandwich was damn good though so I'd definitely return for that alone. I really like how cute this place is, it's not fancy-- small round tables are strewn throughout, lots of reading material (papers, pamphlets, fliers etc) available for those dining alone. I'm not sure if they have WiFi but I can see this being a nice alternative to Starbucks across the street for someone studying or working since there is less traffic coming in and out. I also noticed they had some really delicious looking cookies, lots of bottled Arizona and Nantucket drinks, and small servings of side salads like macaroni and pasta for those that need something extra. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. I haven't been here for years but after yesterday, I really don't know why!
Awesome as usual...the malt is filling ant tasty. Bought a DVD for a movie that was made here..supporting the local business. Owner is knowledgeable and somoene you could probably chat it up with about local news. Place is clean and tidy...kids come here to hang out...think Arnold from Happy Days (although this laest time I went it only had a couple of people in it. I am sure everyone isnt busy 24/7)
I've grown up in Saint Charles for about half of my life. Saint Charles is home to some good local food joints. This one is in my top favorites hands down. I visited the neat local sandwich shop after golfing one day, as my friend recommended it. I was not disappointed. I ordered a basic sandwich (you can have whatever you want on it). The bread was one of the best parts of it! The bread is provided by a local bread smith. Talk about home grown. Nevertheless the sandwich was fantastic. The decor fits the locals perfectly. So yes, I would recommend the place. See you soon smitty's!

Thai Zie Noodles & Bar

Reviews:
The best Thai Restaurant I've ever been to! Great prices on a wide variety of dishes, extensive and unique drink menu and the service provided by Champ and everyone else is always top-notch. Great for dining in or a quick takeout. Make sure you try the Thai Basil Ginger Mojito!
Four visits and this is my first review....shame on me for not taking the time. Just a great meal every time. I am not a Thai afficionado and certainly no expert but I do know flavors, freshness, and good service and it is all found here at Thai Zie. The noodle bowls are enormous, flavorful and filling. Sesame chicken, and Garlic shrimp with cilantro are my favorite entrees. My husband prefers the spicier dishes and I love that he can have all the heat he wants, while I enjoy simple, tasty, fresh food. Excellent by the glass wine choices, happy hour specials and great desserts. The only thing that this restaurant needs is a few more diners. Hang in there, Thai Zie! Cook it and they will come.
New wait staff but very knowledgeable. Good cocktails- tried the One Night in Bangkok. Hubby had chicken panang curry with a recommendation from the server and he enjoyed it very much. Appetizers were very good- crab rangoons, potstickers and egg rolls- it was a trio. Very slow traffic for a Friday night. Can't figure out why? Good food and service. And good previous reviews!

Isacco Kitchen

210 Cedar St
Saint Charles, 60174
Reviews:
Isacco Kitchen has become my favorite go-to restaurant around St. Charles. The staff is warm, welcoming, and focused on service. The food is always top quality, fresh ingredients, and a beautiful presentation. Even on the few occasions something has not met an expectation, the team handles things courteously and tries to rectify. My family and I have been here countless times over the past few years and have had some great great meals. The soups are always a highlight, changing seasonally. Currently they are serving a minestrone but I always look forward to the butternut squash and others. When my wife and I go there, we find ourselves focusing on sharing a number of appetizer plates. Recently we have had some great oysters, the meat and cheese platter is always a fun assortment, stuffed dates with salad, and the mini meatballs with polenta are some favorites for us. Always a great variety. We have had some great pasta dishes. My newest favorite is the mushroom risotto with foie gras. A little sweet, served with a fried egg adding richness to this decadent treasure!! The lamb osso bucco is always a hit. And I could go on. Fabio has turned me on to some great wines at a great price. He has a knack for picking some real winners!! We have eaten inside, outside, and at the bar. We have gone for date night, birthday celebrations, family get togethers, and just to grab a great meal. This is a great place!! Thanks for all your hospitality!!!
Very pricey, but in this case, you do get what you pay for. The food is all very high quality and the service is excellent. If you are looking for a restaurant to splurge on for a special occasion, I would highly recommend Isacco's. The food is top-notch, the atmosphere is very intimate, and if you ask about how they source their ingrediants, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
Just ate at Isacco for the first time and I must totally disagree with Sabrina. I think your problems are obvious: just came from Riverfest, code for we had brats and chili cheese fries for lunch, cotton candy & ice cream for dessert. Taste buds were tortured. Secondly, you take pictures of your food? Save it for Facebook, are you 14? I had the veal ravioli myself and will tell you it was perfect, 10 out of 10. If you wanted more meat, order a steak or pork scaloppini like my wife did(fantastic as well). The fresh ingredients, perfect balance of flavors, just magnificent. There is a reason this restaurant was just named a Top 5 in St. Charles...there is not one thing I would change about our meal tonight. Oh, last thing Sabrina, there is a reason a chef does not put salt or pepper( or ketchup!) on the table. They want you to enjoy their preparation, not have a salt lick.

Arcedium Coffeehouse

60 Indiana St
Saint Charles, 60174
Reviews:
As a person that lives by the mantra "go big or go home", I can confidently say that no matter how indulgent you are feeling, you should not drink a large iced Aztec mocha. Although the first sip of cool, smooth, cinnamon chocolate deliciousness prompted me to believe I could drink a gallon of this miracle elixir, it is gluttonous to take down the monster brew. Next time I would definitely opt for a smaller size but with all said and done, I regret nothing. For $9.79, I ordered both the ginormous iced mocha and a tomato, pesto, parm quiche that was a perfect, teeny buttery delight. There is an attention to detail and thoughtful touches (such as offering both coconut and rice milk among traditional creamers), which truly set Arcedium apart from other spots. The staff was friendly and the male barista did a great job of calling out drinks loud enough to hear over the constant hum of the crowded shop. I love how this spot has a coffee bar...maybe that just the drinker in me, but I usually opt to belly up there and savor my beverage while tending to my business. Today, I sat at a table with a friend and had an equally pleasant experience. This place is hopping, but do not be discouraged, I easily crept on a table that was leaving and nabbed the spot. My only criticism would be that maybe they could have more two person tables, as most were for four people, although only occupied by two, which could possibly create opportunity for more people to stay and enjoy their beverages and the atmosphere. Their menu of salads and paninis intrigued me, and I will be back again and again to sample different beverages and food items alike.
Pretty great coffee and tea selections. Their ham egg and cheese sandwiches on a bagel are delish -- seriously so good. Nice atmosphere inside, friendly staff, decent food selection. I had a chocolate croissant that was awesome and I was told are fresh each day from Cocoa Bean. They also offer panini sandwiches and salads if you need lunch! I will say this place can take a while to get things made sometimes. I've found myself waiting 20 minutes on a Saturday, though usually its less than 10 on weekdays. Overall, it's within walking distance from work and a nice spot to visit on weekday mornings!
I feel like a bit of a curmudgeon only giving 2 stars, but hear me out. I love the concept of Arcedium. The coffee is better than good. I love that they roast their own beans. The selection of raw bars and food is great. Now here it goes. I would absolutely steer you away during peak times. The staff is mostly (a few exceptions) pleasant, but very slow to make drinks. Most times I've seen a huge line and 1 barista. If you do go at a peak time, just get drip coffee. You'll have it in no time. My even bigger gripe is the seating. They have a side room that is nearly always reserved. That's fine. I actually like that they have it, but it's a quarter of their seating. The other issue is, the rest of the seating is a smattering of high tops, a bar, and 4 tops. Today, at a non peak time, with 3 cars parked out front, you can not find a seat. Most of the time, you'll see 4 tops occupied by 1 person. If they just put in smaller 2 top tables, they would accommodate way more people. I hope they see this and think seriously about doing so. I prefer giving them my business, but after today I'll only grab a coffee to go every now and then.

Like most Starbucks, this one serves some good coffee. There's flavored drinks if you like those, too. ...yup.
The people who work here are AMAZING! I love them and the great service that they provide. They seriously do make you feel like you're friends. The place itself though could do with a revamp. It is quite open which is cool but in the winter months it makes it feel colder and not so cozy. If I just want a quick cup of tea then I would drop by here but if I want to sit and read, linger for a while then I would choose another coffee shop to go to.
I was in Saint Charles for a Tupperware convention, yes, Tupperware, whatever! So, I needed a coffee fix after 5 hrs of off brand coffee and Tupperware demos, and this Starbucks came up in the GPS. May I say, this entire town is so cute! The Starbucks was on the corner and was the perfect spot for people watching which is what my sister and I did after we got our nonfat grande lattes with cinnamon and raw sugar. The drinks were perfect. Lots of typical Starbucks pastries. We didn't have any since were watching (especially after all those cookies from Lutz from the previous day!) The staff was nice as can be and the bathroom was nice and clean. We will totally be back to check out the town and have another latte. Maybe even join Joanne someday for coffee (not for the workout since their boot camp is too early for this Lincoln Square chick!)

Was so exited to try this place! It is beautiful inside a lot of attention to details gives you a very warm welcome. The menu is extensive so we asked our waitress menu recommendation. We waited a very long time for the appetizer to arrive , we were given the wrong drink orders and the braised short ribs were beautifully presented but cold and not tender leaving us very disappointed! The pyramid dessert was ok, we're not impressed with the chocolate quality.
Ok decided to try this place for my buddies Birthday dinner. All I can say is decor is cool, and trendy. But the food was horrible Here is why. Ordered the soup with shumai. I received a small bowl with three frozen nickel sized "shumai" in broth with two pieces of shaved zucchini. Its the was the same shumai you get at Super H mart frozen 12 to a package with graded/chopped fish product as stuffing.. I even asked the waitstaff if these were made here she could not answer me. Strike One Second we ordered the bacon wrapped scallops. Again bamboozled, ;out came these salty uniform oblong pieces of bacon wrapped in chopped "scallop" filling. Why ruin scallops like that? Sauce was too salty.. Strike two We then ordered two rolls, Dragon and Gentleman's Both had shrimp tempura one was soggy and the other crispy. Both rolls tasteless no flavor its the first time unagi sauce had no flavor!. . So not only was the food bad, I felt who every is making these dishes up is trying to sham the people of St. Charles. We know better. Any review with more than two stars, you probably work there. and if you do, I give this place three more months. The coolness of the decor etc... will only go so far. Do not believe me, order the soup with Shumai. pay 5.00 for it.
Excellent service, eclectic sushi, superb non-sushi options and Saint Charles most hip scene
