I had a very enjoyable time at the CMYE. It was good to see familiar faces and a few new ones. I was only there for about an hour of it after my commute and then trying to find the free parking (quite a feat). The servers were on it. Our drink orders were taken immediately and they cleared empty plates in record time. They also continuously brought out light bites and I found a few things to nibble on. I enjoyed the Pub Sliders and Pan Fried Crab Cakes. I'm sad to see they don't seem to have any type of Corned Beef Sandwich, but I would like to come back and try the Guinness Beef & Lamb Chili that I noticed on the menu. I was not impressed by the Skillet Roast Mussels or the Fish & Chips. The Mussels were overly fishy and the Fish lacked flavor. However, they make a mean Bread & Butter Pudding and Deep Fried Twinkie! I chatted with other Yelpers and sipped a Hard Cider. We ended up staying a little past the Happy Hour and didn't feel rushed to vacate the tables. I look forward to coming back and trying them again now that I know a few things they do very well.

My birthday sucked! My friends and I had reservations for 9pm on Saturday. Everything seemed alright til the waiter came over and said, "I guess I am your waiter." He never introduced himself and I had to ask twice for my drink. Once he brought my drink. My table asked if there were any drink specials to which he replied,"No". Funny because we found them on the specials menu. He wanted to take our dinner order right away. I asked for 2 orders of an appetizer since there were 9 of us and his reply was, "I guess." When we finally got our appetizer and began to order he confessed he was new and had no idea what was on the menu. Normal places do not let folks that are that new to work alone. Our dinner was great, but then the boom was lowered on us. Our waiter informed us that our table was reserved at eleven and that we are not being kicked out, but we had to move. "Move where?" I asked. He just shrugged his shoulders. We were getting kicked out. Security and the bus guy hoovered over our table as soon as we put down a napkin they took it, nearly full glass of water gone, and stood right there and asked if they could take the full cocktail the waiter just brought over. Our tab was still open, how rude could you possibly be. I was completely embarrassed that I had asked to come here for my birthday. With over a $400 bill and growing they would rather send us to another bar, who took better care of us. Note to anyone coming here, think twice.

I love the smaller more intimate help events were I can really get to know my fellow yelpers. This event was no exception! We were each given a drink ticket for a glass of beer or wine. I ordered a Magner's Cider which I thoroughly enjoyed. I was expecting Five Roses to provide us with only a drink and good company. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the appetizers they brought out for us to sample. There were so many things to try and plenty of each! I was able to sample a potato skin and Irish Slider. Both were yummy! This was the first time in my life that I have had mussels and I was a bit nervous since I do not like oysters. But they were great. One of my favorite tastes of the night was the salad dressing they out on the spinach it was sweet, savory and perfect! I would go back for that alone! I'm super jelly that I had to leave early for class and missed out on all the enticing desserts.

After Yelp's directions leading me astray, I finally got to the Happy Hour. An hour later, FML! lol but when I walked in I was pleasantly surprised with a table full of appetizers and friendly faces. Through out the night, I ordered a few summer shandy's and had some great condos. Plus the Bulls were on, what more could you ask for on a Wednesday night. Thanks Candice!

This was my first Yelp event, so Yay! Thanks so much for an entertaining and yummy event. The Five Roses Pub is extremely convenient for me, just around the corner from my work, and I'll definitely be checking it out again. The decor is beautiful - deep colors with a warm Irish feel and the service was friendly and prompt. The beer selection is great, so many faves to choose from. As for the bites, the potato chips and blue cheese dip were my favorite. Also had the mini sliders, which didn't go above and beyond but were still good; the fish in the fish and chips meal was ginormous - and very mild tasting - a good option if you're really hungry and want a quick bite before a movie. Can't wait to come back for some of the desserts. With choices like fried twinkies and candy bars and bread pudding with Baileys? How can you go wrong?

Not impressed at all. Food was average. Bland pulled pork. Fish sandwich was under cooked cod. Pricey for average neighborhood guy.$6.50 for a smithwicks, really? Not happening again. Guess theyre going to bank on convention people with business accounts. Better and cheaper all over the northwest side. Good luck.

Not thrilled with the place at all...admittely is a "tourist trap" that serves small portions, for high prices. This is not really and "irsh pub" Food was mediocre at best, service was o.k. The decor is nice and beer selection good. For a drink out with friends, enjoy, but don't except a great Irish meal there.

Thank you Candice and Yelp! for another wonderful event. I'll be honest, I typically never think of Rosemont when it comes to planning a night out. But to see what Five Roses has to offer and what is up and coming in the area, will make me think twice. Five Roses is sleek, it's cool; it's almost like a gothic Irish bar with deep reds, dark wood, iron light fixtures and rich tapestry here and there. They gave us Yelpers a nice table big enough for about 12 of us to enjoy communal feast of appetizers and sip of brews or vino. The food was really good. I got to sample the beef sliders (topped with Irish Cheddar), Mussels in a garlic/butter broth, Blue Cheese dip and chips, Fish and Chips, Salmon cakes and potato bites. The salmon cakes were my least favorite (but that's just personal taste because I don't like any kind of "fish"cake) But the rest of the food was fabulous and well made. The beer was ice cold--you can't go wrong with Magners Cider and Smithwick's. And how can I forget the desserts? Fried twinkie, fried Mars bar and a mascarpone and bailey's bread pudding--Pass on the Mars bar and go right to the Bread pudding. It was heaven! Service was good, although I know they are still working out the kinks. Friendly enough, a bit frenetic, a few odd comments by one of the servers. Eh. It's nothing that would dampen a good time. I totally see this as a great Happy Hour or Dinner spot!

I'm going to piggy-back off Taylor M. and say that I too also love the smaller and more intimate Yelp events. It provides us an opportunity to get to know each other better, and of course, rave about our fantastic adventures in eating & boozin'. Happy Hour at the Five Roses Pub was just what I needed after a long, hellish day at the j.o.b. An evening out with fellow Yelpers turned my frown upside down!. Given I work down the street, I was some what challenged finding the location since my GPS steered me wrong. Let me first note that given the area, I was shocked at the ability to park in a lot for free, OR having your parking garage ticket validated. What!?! That's pretty much unheard of in that section of Rosemont, so massive kudos to Five Roses Pub!! The venue itself is a gorgeous Irish Pub. Actually, gorgeous is an understatement. It had that good ol' Irish bar feel, with an element of swankiness. I loved it. This was definitely no dive. Each of us received a drink ticket to try any glass of their beer or wine, on the house. The beer and wine selection were both fantastic! The amount of food Five Roses provided us was ridiculous. I had no idea we would be treated so well! We were brought a couple plates of each of the dishes we tried. We had the Warm (blue) Cheese Dip, Skillet Roasted Mussels, Pub Sliders, Potato Skins, Salmon Cakes (with a killer spinach salad), and the Fish N' Chips. And then it got even better. Out came the Fried Mars Bar, Fried Twinkie, and the Bread & Butter Pudding with a warm whiskey sauce and Bailey's infused whipped cream. I'm still swooning over the bread pudding. Everything that I tried was phenomenal. This was not your standard bar food! And the service?? Needless to say, it was incredible as well. The staff is extremely generous, accommodating, attentive, and friendly. Big thanks to Candice, Five Roses Pub, and my fellow Yelpers for giving this girl the happy hour she so desperately needed! Needless to say, I think I found my new favorite happy hour hangout.

What a great intimate event! Hanging out with yelpers is always a good time, of course! Five roses does a fantastic job. All of the treats that we were presented we're delicious, especially the mussels. They were so simply prepared and that made all of the difference. I also really loved the homemade chips with blue cheese dip. The perfect combo of flavors. Service was outstanding. Every staff member was beyond friendly and helpful. The beer selection was great, and they have both domestic and imported wines. I will definitely return for a happy hour, dinner, before or after a movie, you name it.
