Reviews:
Only have been here a couple times, but I can see myself finding a reason to visit Rolling Meadows more often. Actually on the proper day, traffic isn't bad from Naperville. I love Gus' philosophy to enter as strangers and leave as friends. I often wish we lived in the days of the fifties and things were simple and everyone was friendly. You definitely have that feeling here. I was raised in a small town so I always love diners. You have to try the house speciality, made from scratch banana bread french toast. Covered with pecans and bananas too. Come hungry or just plan on leftovers, as I do. Need to check out their lunch menu. Step inside and feel the magic, you'll crave a return visit and soon be a regular. @dinewithgus #gusdiner
I was almost about to leave this place just because of the service was 'Little' late. But thanks to the guy who got me a water right after I sat and the other one who greeted me even though he was not my server. One senior guy, who came after me, left because no one attended him on time. I think they were short on staff on a busy saturday. There were only 4 people in the dining area. But anyways, after that moment, I had a really good service and food. It seems like all 4 of them were serving everyone. One guy greeted me, the other guy brought water, a woman took my order and coffee and the other lady brought my food! They were all nice and happy people. I had a Diner experience just how I wanted, like how they are all friendly and fun, cool local people hanging out and involving you in the conversation! I liked those locals and all the servers! Atleast three of them came and informed me and kept me updated on why my pancake is late. Excellent food by the way. Service could be a little better. But it is NOT bad. Please check out this place
We walked in and we're not greeted by anyone. We didn't know if we should just take a seat or stand there. We finally asked somebody. Once we say it took 10 minutes to get a menu. Then they asked me and my boyfriend if we wanted something to drink but didn't ask his son We finally placed our order and I can say the pancakes were yummy but the ham and cheese omelet was nothing to write home about. The cinnamon French toast was yummy but too sweet to eat all of it The reason I gave this only 3 stars was the cost. It was $45 for 2 eggs, French toast, omelet, 1 hot tea, 1 cup of coffee and a chocolate milk Could have gone to Ellys or teddys or checkers or uncle bills. Had the same quality food but for much less I don't think we will be returning. The food was good just not good enough for the price

Chef Ping

Reviews:
When my fiancé and I were apartment-hunting back in 2010, we happened to stop for lunch here. Chef Ping was our first and became our favorite local restaurant in the Schaumburg area. When we moved again in 2013, we chose to commemorate the occasion by eating our last lunch at Chef Ping's as well. ;_; The atmosphere inside is very welcoming and "upscale casual", with dark woods, simplistic style, and peaceful piano music. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always able to recommend something tasty. The menu includes a variety of traditional, fusion, and "Americanized" Chinese dishes, so you can really try many different things each time you go! * They also have a special room for larger dinner parties! (We held one of the hubby's birthdays there!) * The wait on the weekends can be long if you haven't made a reservation! This place is awesome and people know it! * We live 1 and 1/2 hours away now and we STILL drive out of our way to Chef Ping's to carry-out our favorites! Husband's Favorites: Ham-Fried Rice / Broccoli Beef My Favorites: Pad Thai Noodle / Shrimp Egg Rolls
I've been coming here for a couple years and while some things got better some are not as good. I still give it 4 stars. Here's some comments... I love chicken wings. While some say the PongPong have no meat and are just fried bones these are my go to asian flavor wings. Sweet with some spice and nice crispy bits. I don't get tired of eating these!! Shrimp dumplings, another Chef Ping staple for me. Pieces of shrimp in a nicely steamed wrapper. Hunan beef & chicken. I always order this, why, I don't know, the flavor is so good to me... Pad Thai. This is one that went downhill. I love the noodle (Wide) which you don't see as much anymore, but the sauce on this dish is flavorless. Just look at the photos people post here. Barely any color and it tastes like it. To bad as I love Pad Thai.
Went here as part of a treat. Friend had purchased a new car.. so yay free food. It was dinner time, fairly packed. Even though it was a Friday night, the wait time was short (10 minutes or so), perhaps we were lucky. Plan accordingly if you're hungry and wish to avoid the crowd. The place is huge with two dining areas and a nice ambiance. We ordered the Pong pong chicken, Sczechwan Eggplant and Gan Pong Diced chicken. They were all good. But I think every item that we ordered were breaded, deep fried and full of oil. That was my only qualm but otherwise it was good. Portions are huge and we probably ordered way too much. Next time gotta avoid going all wild and ordering so much. The chefs keeping walking around occasionally to monitor stuff as well. Bring up any issues if you have to them. It's a nice way to personalize the experience and receive active feedback.

Always love the food here. I don't think there's anything here that I tried that I didn't like. That said, I haven't been here in months, but somehow I ended up here with 3 other people today. We were all starving. Instead of ordering my usual chopped salad with onion rings, I ordered a combo (beef & sausage) with hot peppers and cheese fries. YUM! Maybe I was just super hungry but it was seriously soooooooo good. For the first time ever, I got the dip (on the side) and I'm glad I did. It was really good. Not salty like other dips I've had. It had a mushroom flavor. It was a nice addition to the combo and didn't overpower anything. The other people I was with got the combo, bacon cheeseburgers, cheese fries, and onion rings. Yes, I tried some onion rings. I can't help it. It's hot, crispy, fried goodness. I think next time I'll try the ribs. People have been telling me it is the best ribs they've ever had.
portillo's is a go-to for me when in the suburbs. i get past o'hare on 90 and all of the sudden i must have italian beef. and for that only portillo's will do. this location is not my fave, since they screwed up my order this last time. and cuz they don't have a barnelli's attached. but hey, they're the closest to my work.
Yummy. I like this place allot better than the other one on golf road. The meat was grilled and not dry and was very tasty and the fries were crunch and not soggy, the only thing was I asked for no onions and there were onions on my burger but they might have not heard me. The place is pretty packed but service was quick and there were lots of clean tables and booths. I'd come back again. It was good!

Chopstick

Reviews:
When I saw this place was going to open in town, my first thing was great, another Asian restaurant, just what we need in Arlington Heights. Well my boys wanted food from a place two doors down yesterday and I stopped in here for some vegetable fried rice. A solid fried rice with really fresh ingredients and not buried in soy sauce. Today the family decided to get take-out from Chopstix and it was mixed reviews, though all positive. We ordered egg drop soup, hot and sour soup, steamed pot stickers, beef and broccoli, and sweet and sour chicken. I don't eat sweet and sour chicken, though the family really liked it. The boys and I really liked the beef an broccoli, though my wife didn't care for the beef so much. Again nice fresh broccoli in the dish, really nice. The steamed pot stickers are the best we have gotten from any Asian restaurant in the area. The sauce they served with it had fresh garlic in it, nice flavor. I had the hot and sour soup, it was okay. Again fresh ingredients, but it was over thickened (imo) which gave it to much of a gelatin texture, I think the egg drop may have been the same from what I could see. The boys enjoyed that and said they liked it. All and all a good dinner, we surely will be back and I have already told some people at work about it. It will be interesting on how the food matures as the business grows. I hope they keep up the good work.
Excellent food the lunch specials are the best deal and the crab Rangoon are so good. The staff is very friendly and the place is clean. Mostly carry out but they do have some tables to eat in.
It is rare to find a Chinese restaurant that does not saturate the food in MSG. I was happy to discover that they do not cook with it at all. The service on the phone was friendly, they delivered our order fast and hot and the food was really yummy. I like flavorful food rather than bland and mild. The Kung Pao was spicy with a good variety of crunchy and fresh vegetables. The Mongolian Beef was a great mix of sweet and mildly spicy. I also enjoyed the potstickers and fried rice. We will be ordering again.

Good location near Golf and Arlington Heights road. I've found the staff here to be consistently friendly and helpful. They just switched to the Teavana teas so some of the flavors may be different to what one is used to (if one drinks teas here). I am getting used to the chai. I prefer the Tazo, so we'll see if it's a deal breaker (I'd probably switch to the English Breakfast/Awake variant). The Oprah Chai tea is good (more of an Oregon chai style) but it's in the syrup and too sweet for my tastes. The store has one large table for six or seven, several smaller tables for two or four; a few single comfy chairs by themselves and a stand up bar near the register. Fortunately this store is well heated (during cold Chicago winters) unlike some other stores I've visited. Bathrooms are clean. Always a plus. Hand dryer only. I know it's eco-friendly, but I still prefer paper towels. I don't like handling the doors :)
Every time I go through the drive through the cashier is always so nice! Today we drove through and we had a nice chat with Zoe. She made our Starbucks stop more fun with her smile and fun conversation. If you are gonna pay $5 for a coffee why not stop in a place that makes you feel good to leave your money there :)
If you must hit up the 'Bucks, this isn't a bad one to visit as long as you can navigate the mess that is the parking lot & Golf Rd. Employ defense when you're driving around here. Beyond that... 1) Baristas are friendly. Including the folks who work the drive through! As in extra friendly. Nice. 2) Drive thru. 'Nuff said. 3) Drinks are made with expertise. While I'm not ordering up a crazy complicated beverage, I very much appreciate that my order is exact. Especially when I'm ordering a decaf beverage...there's nothing worse than unintended caffeine shakes due to a lazy barista.

First of all, they've got that awesome coke machine here! I love the variety. I wasn't much of a fan of this place at first but I've come around an is a place we do for dinner here and there. I like the lighter selections here, it always seems to be a bit healthier even though it might not really be...okay especially not if it's a meatball sandwich...but how can I reist sometimes. Nice place great staff! Always nice and clean.
I love Noodles! I was very pleased when the Rolling Meadows location opened up. It's much more convenient now. My fiancée and I are regulars here. Some our favorites are: The Pad Thai, Penne Rosa, Pasta Fresca, and the Bacon Mac n Cheeseburger (yum!). Most of the dishes I have tried are full of flavor and are made fresh & fast. The staff is really friendly too. Definitely worth it.
I have been to other Noodles in the past and was thrilled to see potstickers back on their menu. I ordered online and went to pick up my lunch. I arrived 4 minutes early from my stated pickup time and I guess their system hadn't even sent my order through yet. It seemed like they were quite rushed to get my order made and to me, but it was almost too quick where they didn't bother to make the food well and as a result I got flat, greasy microwaved, then pan seared noodles. I am quite disappointed that my lunch wasn't as good as I was looking forward to. I have 3 stars bc I have been here before for other items and they weren't too terrible. Also, since it's a chain I know it can be decent (maybe just other locations).

Coffee Planet

Reviews:
They've changed owners and redone the place. You'd think that's a good thing but the place is very plain looking now and they got rid of the pour-over bar which was what I always came here for and it was what really set them apart from any other coffee joint. The people behind the counter don't seem to know what they're doing either. They still use Metropolis brand coffee, though, so that's good. I didn't see any single origins for sale though. I had a cappuccino and it was good. I hope they figure out what they're doing here soon before they go under because I like supporting local businesses but if you can't be bothered to do the research and figure out proper marketing, service, your product, and your customers then you just aren't going to last. Today was supposed to be their grand reopening and their owner isn't even here. Their Facebook page is using stock photos with the watermark still in it and calling themselves "two mugs" but keeping the same coffee planet signs. Which is it? How hard is it to take pictures of coffee and hire a few people who know how to make coffee in a pour-over? They shut down their drive-thru which is ridiculous considering they aren't doing the slow brew coffee anymore. I really wish they'd get their $#!7 together because this place is so conveniently located for me. Time will tell.
I wish I didn't have to downgrade from 5 stars to 1 but ever since they switched ownership, everything has changed. 1. The staff are friendly but service was slow and I was the only person there. When I ordered my drink, the girl at the register had to ask me twice what I wanted and which size I asked for. 2. The drink I ordered (peanut butter mocha) tasted nothing like it used to. I could barely taste any peanut butter or chocolate in my mocha. 3. The hours on their site still say they open at 6am Monday through Friday. I left my house early today thinking I'd stop by and grab coffee (and this is a big deal because I don't wake up early for anything...not even work haha). When I get there... whadaya know? They weren't open! This was at 6:30am. As you can imagine, I was not a happy camper. Deprive me of sleep and coffee? Bad idea. I wanted to give Coffee Planet the benefit of the doubt which is why I came back to try a different drink but when I saw they weren't even open when they were supposed to be....well that was it for me. I wish Coffee Planet the best and hope they figure out the little details before they lose any more customers.
I like that they are family owned and they really seemed committed to the coffee and tea experience. My goodness, do they have an array of various lattes and the like. I'm pretty boring and order the usual skim latte. It didn't blow me away but I was impressed with the barrista's precision and care in making our drinks. I also had a chocolate croissant which was just OK. Service was efficient but not particularly friendly even though they weren't terribly busy. I need to give this place another try and expand my coffee palate.
