this is a neighborhood joint. Nothing fancy but casual and very affordable. The décor is from the 70s and the tables are vinyl covered. The staff is very casual and not at all up tight. I've lived in the neighborhood and never ate there mainly cause I cook myself and am originally from NY and our Italian food is a bit more seasoned there. Anyway this has become my regular eatery due to cost, convenience and consistency. They specials run about $6.50-7.00 for dinner. I recently had a Lasagna and it was decent. Once again nothing extraordinary but satisfying, it came with a side salad of iceberg lettuce a few strands of red cabbage, a slice of cucumber and possibly a tomato. I always have decaf coffee. It's fair. Once again nothing extraordinary. The pizza looks decent and there is a a lot of take out traffic. I've also had their meat ravioli which was ok. I guess my favorite is their fried cauliflower appetizer with ranch dressing. I would recommend and order of that with fried zucchini. Their baked cod was fair also. Their bar looks busy also. Parking is adequate. They do accept cash, credit, and debit. I would rather go here then Olive Garden. Mainly because it's local quick and it's supports our local neighborhood.

I've eaten their pizza a few times and it was pretty mediocre. It was edible and relatively enjoyable but I'd much rather have Papa John's, especially for the price. The real problem I have with this place is the owner. I don't know him personally so I can't attest to his behavior all of the time, but from what I've experienced and what I've heard from a few other people that have been unfortunate enough to run into him, he is less than pleasant. I work retail and happened to meet him when he came into my place of work as a customer. When he approached me, before I could even say, "Hello." he blurted, "Do you know who I am?" I was caught a little off guard thinking, "Shit, should I recognize this guy?" He was wearing a Sam's Pizza t-shirt and he rolled his eyes and pointed at it as he said, "I'm the owner." as if I should have known. I was a little irritated at that point so I just replied, "Sorry, I've never heard of it." He was definitely not happy with that response. He immediately said, "Yes you have. You've heard of it. Everyone in Rockford has heard of Sam's Pizza." I told him, "Sorry, I'm not from Rockford, I'm grew up out of town", wanting to end the conversation at that point. He replied, "Hmm, then maybe you should go back." After telling a few of my co-workers I found out that each of them had shared a similar experience and they'd all received the "Do you know who I am?" treatment. Honestly, I don't give a shit about their pizza. I'm sure it's not terrible and they may have a very friendly, courteous staff, but just in case there are some people like me that try their best not to support companies run by shitty people, you may want to steer clear.

I eat at this place atleast once a week at home, and sometimes twice aweek when im at work. The pizza is by far the best in town, also the rest of the menu is pretty awrsome as well.

Always ordered from here when we lived in Rockford. The best pizza. We once drove 8 hours from Nebraska just to get a pizza from SAMs. We figured they wouldn't deliver to or new location. :)

I love their pizza! Rockford has the best family pizza joints in town. However, pick-up for faster service. Their popularity means that they can be slow on the delivery...very busy during peak hours.

So-so pizza, plenty of better ones in this town. But the ridiculous part was that they added a $.50 "ticket fee" to the menu. What was that, we asked? Well, they use a special triplicate ticket book when they take your order in the restaurant, so they added $.50 to cover the cost. Of the paper they use to write down your order. Not. Kidding. Penny wise, pound foolish behavior. This was in July, maybe they came to their senses in the interim.

We have ordered from Sams in the past quite a bit and had very few problems until about 6 months ago. The first problem was when they charged someone else's order to my credit card and it took them a week to sort it out. The next problem was when we ordered and they sent the wrong food which took an hour to receive . When over an hour later they brought the correct food it was cold and all you could taste was old grease! We stupidly ordered again today. We ordered the pick any 3 appetizers ( as we had done in the past with no problems!! ) We get the food and it is all in one container! There were 3 chicken strips, 4 cheese sticks ( which were fried so hard that all the cheese was outside the stick ) and 6 fried mushroom. When I called to say something about the situation the lady on the phone gave me MAJOR attitude. We called her out on her attitude and hung up only to call a few minutes later call the manager who proceeded to talk over me and condescend me. He accused me of lying and became very angry when I told him the portions he sent were not what they had sent in the past. He says he cooked it himself and was I calling HIM a liar! When I confronted him with all the past issues including the new one he told me he didn't have time to argue with me over petty stuff and to call a different restaurant from now on. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE! RUN SCREAMING IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!!

The pizza is ok but their customer service sucks. I ordered 2 carry out pizzas last night. When I got home I noticed they had screwed up the ingredients on one of them. When I called to complain all they would offer to do was make another but I had to come get it. If I did that my other pizza would get cold. I asked for perhaps a free one or a discounted one the next time I came in. The answer was no. So long Sam's, no more of my business. Lino's in Rockford has great CS and I will be giving them back my business.

Ordered a pizza from here and it took 2 hours to arrive! Not like it was ordered late or during a busy time- it was 1 o'clock in the afternoon! Called several times to find out the whereabouts of said pizza. Not impressed with the attitude of the person who answered the phone. I hoped maybe they forgot to make it and were rushing it out but it arrived at barely room temperature, so it had obviously been sitting in a vehicle for a long time. No offer to make things right or anything like that. So I can not recommend Sams.

Okay well where do i start...it was late and sams was like the only pizza place delivering except these nasty chain places like papa johns/dominoes etc. Never ordered from this sams place always ordered from the one on riverside, but i thought well it has decent reviews lets give it a go. So i called up spoke with a gentleman who seemed like he was tired or just didnt feel like working(which either way i understood...it was after 12am)...so i began to order a large sausage onion extra cheese...an extra large pepperoni, bacon and italian beef...an order of cheese garlic bread and 4 garlic butters...the guy said okay that will be $30.89. I hung up thinking WOOW!! thats a deal. So the delivery guy shows up and pulls out one pizza and a bag which i assumed was garlic bread with cheese, and i stated i had ordered 2 pizzas. The driver said well let me call...i left my phone in the car...i told him since it was cold he could call from his car or step in and call(he choose to stay outside). He explained what happened and put me on the phone with the same guy who took my order. I told him i ordered 2 pizzas, his response "oh i put everything on one pizza"(like really)...i ordered 2 for a reason to feed more than 4 people. So i paid the driver it wasnt his fault and left him a tip. I got to thinking this isnt going to be enough. Called back spoke with the gentleman told him to send driver back for order and i want my money back. The gentleman stated "im not sending my driver back to refund you, but i can make you another large pizza amd charge you $12 thats $7 cheaper and no delivery charge. Well so now i know im going to get a spitty pizza... ...after all this i gave 3 stars because the driver was nice and it wasnt his fault, but i wont be ordering from this sams again...

Solid pie. Fluffy thin crust, sweet sauce, ingredients were fresh. Anchovies, jalapenos, onions, garlic, and bacon combined for one helluva pizza. I've had pizzas with ingredients laid on a tad thicker...Medium with 5 ingredients ran just over 16 bucks. Hard to complain with those ingredients, quick pick-up time, and overall construction of our recent zaa. Solid pizza choice in the area.

First of all, I called this location by accident. There is a Sam's closer to my location, but they failed to tell me this, and instead, took my order. When my pizza arrived, it needed to be microwaved because it was cold. We also ordered a two-liter from the man on the phone, and when we called back to tell them they'd forgotten it, the man said the two liter had been crossed off of our ticket, but we never said we didn't want it. Then he said that because our location was so far away, he wouldn't be willing to send a driver out to bring the two-liter to us because we hadn't paid for it. He offered us a credit for a two-liter next time we order... But we will not be ordering from there, EVER AGAIN!
