I've lived in this neighborhood for 2 years, and only last weekend tried Primo's. It's phenomenal. A nice crispy yet chewy crust, thin but not too thin. Sauce is a great combination of flavor and zest with a hint of sweetness. It just may be the best pizza ever. Haven't tried their other food, and the restaurant is small for actual dining, but it's that nice neighborhood place atmosphere that we're all probably familiar with.

Ordered Primos while at Rural on Tap. Worth the $. Great complement to the bar next door.

My husband is a local & when we come back to visit family we always end up getting pizza for take out. We just tried the pizza here for the first time last night & everyone loved it. They even have a gluten free option. When we come back to town we'll order from here from now on!

Tastes so authentic. I have been looking for a pizza made this way since I left my hometown a decade ago. There is a pizza place called Alfano's Little Sicily where I come from and this is the first place that has been able to match the authentic pizza that is made there.

Great pizza! Primos special. Perfect amount of toppings. A must have if in rockford. Don't be worried that it's in a tiny strip mall. The best are the hole in the wall locations anyway. Give it a shot. Won't be disappointed.

Great local pizza place. We live close and is our go to for Friday night movie nights. Cheese on the pizza is great and they always have great specials (even though we usually only get pizza and garlic bread or wings). Get crust well done and it is closer to NY than anything I can find around Rockford.

We are new to the area and still relatively new to Rockford and have been looking for good pizza for awhile. We were so pleasantly surprised by this gem! I never thought it would be possible to have a taste of home (good pizza). The customer service is great too. We had their pizza for the first time on Halloween and it was great. We have been ordering from there ever since. Even had family over from Chicago and they loved it too. So happy we have great pizza right down the street from us.

Rockford has many great pizza joints and Primo's is one of the best. Huge fan on their special pizza.

Tried this place because of Yelp, well you fellow Yelp reviewers were right. This place is great! The crust is yummy and Bosco sticks are great. I really wish they had fountain drinks, buying soda cans for 1.05 gets annoying.

I just love this pizza!!! And always so friendly when i pick up. Really wish they would get a gluten free option for my celiac family member but we make other arrangements when we need a primos fix. Keep doing what your doing and don't ever change your cheese. Its amazing!!!!

I live a few blocks from Primo's, and they are my go-to restaurant when I get home from work too late to cook anything. Their veggie pizza is delicious, and they'll make it with whole wheat crust for $1 extra! Delicious sauce, fresh veggies, plenty of cheese. The owners (an older married couple) seem to be wonderful people and are there every time I go. Great local restaurant!

Pizza is part of many proofs that God love us and wants us to be happy. PRIMO'S does an outstanding job of delivering that message to Rockford! Tangy savory & sweet sauce, light crispy crust, perfect amount of cheese with the perfect tiny amount of grease on top of the pie. A medium one topping for $9. Inexpensive Good Eats! You will not be disappointed.

I am looking for excellent pizza in rockford. The reviews rate this place high. I'm disappointed though. The pizza was good, but not great. Crust was not quite right. I'm looking for a chewier crust (Napoli or ny style). Will keep looking.

You guys. This place. THIS FUCKING PLACE. This is seriously the best pizza I've ever had, and trust me I've had a lot of pizza. I know a guy who visited the homeland (pizza's homeland, not mine.)- Italy itself, and still thinks Primo's Pizza is number one. I mean, I'm just sayin'. From the looks of it, it's a shabby hole in the wall in some strip mall in a dying city. But it is so much more. The whole place is run by this cute little old Italian couple. And it's been there for as long as I can remember... which is to about 2003 when my family moved to Rockford, it even outlasted the 31 flavors that was in the same strip mall! My go to is cheese and jalapeno. Super good. The crust is crispy but not so thin that you feel like you're not eating a full meal and the sauce, oh my, the sauce. It's perfectly salty and a little spicy and sweet. It's just what you've always wanted your pizza to taste like. This pizza is what dreams are made of. So, if you ever find yourself in Rockford, IL, this is definitely a hidden gem in an otherwise desolate city full of strip malls and Taco Bells. (Did you know Rockford's population voted Taco Bell best Mexican in the city? Not kidding. Look it up.) Also, they usually have a deal where if you order a large pizza you can get a small one topping for free... but they don't always advertise it, so ask for it. YOU HAVE NO EXCUSES NOW; YOU HAVE A COUPON. GO EAT PIZZA.

Ordered a small pan pizza with a side salad and cheese garlic bread. My pizza was very good like I had hoped it would be except for the fact that I asked for light jalapenos and got a lot it was tasy the crust was a highlight! My salad was a little tasteless only lettuce and tomato ranch was a little bland as well didn't like that they delivered the dressing already on the salad instead of on the side. The garlic bread was alright cheesy but burnt. I would have to say pizza was the best out of it all.

Best veggie pizza in town and as good as it gets!!! The pizza and the food is great for the money. Small neighborhood restaurant.

Been going to Primos for years.. Great pizza, amazing Italian beef & salads! Gave them four stars only because some of the pasta dishes and the french fries have been disappointing. Not a fan of the alfredo sauce, but the ravioli is pretty good. The family who owns it is really friendly and nice. I've only done take-out but they have plenty of seating inside.

I am not the biggest pizza fan and I guess that makes me a little more critical of pizza in general, but Primo's is actually really good. I especially like the crust. I have found that a majority of the places I've had pizza in Rockford make their crust really dry and that wasn't our experience at Primo's. their crust is moist, without being overly greasy. The place is pretty small (About eight tables, I think) and kind of divey, but very clean. The service could be a little faster, I would say. they didn't seem to be in any hurry at all. The sodas all come in a can with a small cup of ice and the tea is green tea (something I wasn't told until the server brought it to our table) It does seem like you get your food much faster if you call it in to go, I think they give priority to the to go orders. I do think that Primo's pizza is an above average pizza and they use good quality products in their foods. If you haven't tried it, I would highly recommend doing so!

To look at this place from the outside you'd think it was either out of business or a front for something other than Pizza, but walk in and you'll find a cosy (if a little tired) restaurant. We went in at a kinda odd time, mid-afternoon, and were greeted by old Italian dude with pizza dough on his hands; this is definitely a Mom and Pop run place. Shortly after we had sat down what we presume must have been his wife arrived and turned on the restaurant lights and made us feel at home. We ordered a large deepan pizza and it was fantastic. This is serious, thick deep pan pizza with gooey cheese, a deep rich tomato base and delicious hunks of ground beef with slices of pepperoni. Truly excellent pizza.

Great pizza, but they also have a huge menu with many other great items. All of their pasta dishes are excellent. There are a few tables if you want to dine in and the service is very good. You will want to go back many times. Also they have soy cheese if you need that option.

The best pizza in Rockford(try it with meatballs...to die for) and their Mostaciolli ala Primo is the best! They are friendly and attentive as well. Anyone who lives in the neighborhood knows this.

I've been driving by this place nearly everyday for four years now, and it definitely wasn't inviting on the outside. However someone at Carlyle Brewing Co. told me how great the pizza is, and they knew I love their tortilla crust at Caryle, so my expectations were high. And they did not disappoint--absolutely phenomenal pizza--among the best I ever had. I will be a return customer! The staff was also very friendly. By the way, they hand toss their crust.
