As a NYer I have a different idea of what Italian bread should be, a flaky crust and a nice crunch when you bite it. We tried Panino's a few weeks ago when in Rockford for a friends wedding. At first I wasn't to sure of the pizza we had made on the bread here, but after a few bites I really liked it! The bread didn't have the crunch and a much softer inside - it was different then I am used to, but a good different! I'd recommend trying it! (Also, we got take out. That's why I have no input on the service)

For fast food Italiano, this is it. I have been eating Panino's food for over 10 years. I can't get enough of the $5 Vegetarian Panizza! This is a sandwich with fresh bread topped with marinara. The top bun is covered with white cheese and the bottom portion veggies and white cheese. Then, they throw it in the oven for a nice baked and melted dream in your mouth. I also get loaves of their bread and cups of sauce to dip the bread in. This will keep you satisfied all day long. Seriously, there is nothing bad about this place. They will even give your pup a treat for going through the drive though. I will always make a stop here when visiting or passing through, always!

Had a party to host on a Saturday afternoon. A lot of pizza places in the area aren't open around noon. I called to see if they could accomodate a large order (for 40 guests). The phone staff was very polite and contacted the owner to verify. They promptly returned my phone call and patiently went through the order with me. I was nervous as I hadn't had experience with this place of business before. Delivery was scheduled for 12:15 the next day. So far so good. Well, the next day, about an hour before delivery, I get a phone call. Expecting to hear that there is a problem, I am pleasantly surprised to find out that the staff is preparing the bread and would like to know if I would like it cut up or whole. And to confirm 12:15 delivery. It was like the gates of heaven were opening up for me. THIS IS WHAT CUSTOMER SERVICE SHOULD BE LIKE! I was so pleased I was going to give the driver a hefty tip on the order and he told me to put it back, that he was the owner and he just wanted to make me happy. Well, guess what buddy, I'm THRILLED. And the best part is, the pizza was great! The red sauce is just the right flavor, not to tangy, not too sweet. The garlic crust pizza, TO DIE FOR. Basically, it is pizza without the red sauce, but instead chopped garlic. Went like the wind. The bread, soft, sweet, tasty. I cannot say enough good things about this place and the service. Really, I am just TICKLED PINK.

I became addicted to Panino's in high school, we would run away at lunch or leave a little early (oops, I had class 6th and 7th hour? my bad) and stop at Panino's for some cheap and tasty food. Their bread is the key, anything it touches tastes great. My old favorite were loaf with sauce, the Panino sandwich, or a Panizza. I try and stop whenever I am back visiting Rockford and it is still as good as I remember it. I remember the other location tasting a little different and being super crowded, if you're not scared of the good ole west side (I grew up there and believe me, nothing to fear) stop by.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
