Highly unrecommended for any catering event! I ordered catering to be delivered at Noon and by 12:20 it still hadn't arrived! Called the business to find out and I was told the driver would be leaving "soon". -_- I will update my review with the exact time it arrives. Highly unrecommended for any shrimp platter - ordered the Shrimp Parmigiana and it came with 3 whole pieces of shrimp. This restaurant is ZERO for ZERO in my book!

Should have went with the pizza. It looked pretty darn good. The place is small, and decorated as "authentically Italian" as you can get in a strip mall. I think the servers were a little over loaded, as ours was attentive but not terribly friendly. My dish was ok. Fettucini with marinara and Italian sausage. Huge portion, but swimming in sauce. Meh. My wife got penne with broccoli in olive oil. If my dish was swimming, hers was more like Noah's Arc during the flood. Absolutely disgusting. The salad was decent, and the bread sticks were good and different. They really need to get some fresh ground pepper and real parmesan cheese though. Disappointing overall.

Always delicious! Love the food! I visit this place regular for eat in, carry out, or delivery. Love the staff and atmosphere! Must try! I've never had anything that wasn't good!

We stopped here on the way back from Wisconsin. Didn't realize until we got here that this is a sister location of the restaurant in Shorewood. We enjoyed our pizza (pan style), fried ravioli and pizelle. We thought that the pizza at this location was slightly better than the one in Shorewood (more cheese).

I have done catering, dine in and carry out multiple times and everything has been great. Not a lot of seats so you might end up waiting for a spot at lunch or dinner.

I really want to love this place but unfortunately I just can't. This was my first time at this location. We dined in. Our waitress Abbey was really great. She was friendly & attentive. The atmosphere was cozy & comfortable. I got a salad & eggplant sandwich (no cheese) to accommodate my vegetarian/vegan diet. I would have loved my sandwich except for the fact it only had 1 sliver of eggplant on it. I couldn't even taste it bc it was so thin. The sandwich was basically just bread & sauce. For $6.99 I felt ripped off. My husband got toasted ravioli & chicken Parmesan sandwich which he liked. That was a much sturdier sandwich & the $ was appropriate. I liked the sauce which has a bit of sweetness to it but he thought it was too sweet. So, I guess it depends whether you like that or not. I've had pizza at the other location & the crust was soggy so that's why I can't get excited about it. Our tab was $35.00 for an app, 2 sandwiches, a side salad, cannoli to go & 1 fountain drink. One bonus is the $2.00 craft & import beers. Now that's a deal. I might go back to eat there just for that reason.

Amazing pasta, whenever I crave Italian I order from here. Only giving 4 stars because they don't make their own ravioli and they tend to forget my extra Parmesan on the side. Highly recommend!!

We have eaten here lots of times - if there is ever a difficulty, just ask and it is completely taken care of with a cheerful spirit. Once they forgot to put our pizza order in when the dinner orders went in. So we had our salads and found out the pizza was late :( But they boxed it up and gave it to us to take home- I didn't want to wait and eat it there. But no charge for the pizza! If there is ever a problem, just ask about it. It will be fixed. We really love the pizza, spinach lasagna, vodka sauce- all of it. Just tried the delivery service last Saturday night in the rain- $2.50 for two hot pizzas brought to us- soo excellent.. We use the coupons because we are regulars.. The girls are very good about service, we never are disappointed- it is really CLEAN too!

True Chicagoan, not a NY pizza fan so advertising deep dish is a SERIOUS statement for a pizzeria. (and thin pizza joints do not deserve the title 'pizzeria' anyway, grade school kids can make that stuff) Results : Some of the best deep dish I have had outside of the city. Given the option to go to the name brands in the area or here, I will pick here every time. Found their delivery guy wandering the halls of Clocktower/Coco Key hotel so them come to your room if you can't get out and don't want hotel quality pizza (who does). Make sure to ask for plates and silverware. Loved the long booths, small place, no full bar, dig the good crooner classics music. Pass : Cheese stick appetizer was not melted/cooked all the way. It did not matter to my daughter but the adults opted out.

Best Pizza in Rockford hands down. Closest we have been able to find that is comparable to the Chicago pizza joints I am use to. Flavorful sauce, semi crispy crust and delicious cheese.

This is our go - to pizza in Rockford! Never dined in, but the delivery / take out has always been outstanding. It's always fast and hot. The thin crust is nice and crispy, and the deep dish has good chew to it. Perfect sauce to cheese ratio and fresh toppings! Some people might think this is a little pricey, but you get what you pay for!

This is by far my and my husbands favorite pizza in Rockford. I'm from Chicago and have pretty high standards when it comes to pizza and Macianos meets and exceeds them. The food and service is consistently exceptional! I highly recommend the pizza. We have also enjoyed most of the other dishes we have tried.

Excellent food. We started with the Chicken Chopped Salad - it was great. Next was a large thin crust Cheese and Sausage Pizza - it was excellent!! In fact, all of the pizzas that I saw at other patrons tables looked awesome. We will definitely be going back not only for the pizza and salad, but we would like to try some entrées too, as everything looked great.

Only had delivery from here, never had a late order and the food is always hot and delicious, so far I have tried the stuffed pizza, wings, lasagna and bread sticks all of which taste great. Definitely worth giving a shot

Awesome Pizza and the best service in Rockford. Traveled to IL looking for a great Deep Dish pizza, and we got the best pizza! The crust was cooked to perfection. The meats and cheese was cooked just right and out server Abbey did a excellent job! We had the best meal on our trip at Maciano's Pizza. You definately need to eat here, hope your hungry!

You know pizza is good when you are talking about the next time you're going to be getting this particular pizza WHILE YOU'RE STILL EATING IT!!! Which is exactly what happened to my husband and I the other day after ordering Maciano's pizza to go! We ordered a side salad, a Chicago style pizza with sausage, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers, and those dough nuggets with powdered sugar on them. Oh, and two cookies. The salad was reaaaaally good, the dough nuggets were good (different, but in a positive way) and the cookies had HUGE chunks of chocolate chips in them. Seriously, chocolate overload in a wonderful way. But the real standout here was our pizza. It was incredible!!!! We picked it up and brought it to my sister's house on a Thursday night around 7 (a 35 minute cooking time) but even after my husband came home with the pizza, it was piping hot and delicious!! Every bite had a delicious flavor, and gooey melty cheese. The veggies were fresh and nicely cooked, and the sauce had a wonderful flavor to it. The crust was seriously delicious. The whole meal was 435 and we only ate half of the "small" pizza. Mainly because it was NOT all that small! The woman on the phone, was efficient, friendly, and got everything right. My husband, who picked up the food, said the ambiance was really classy on the inside, and it was about 1/3 full on this particular Thursday night! Watch out, Lou Malnati's, I might have a new favorite deep-dish pizza in town!!! I cannot wait to go back!!!

First, I have to disclose the fact that I have never actually been to Maciano's. This review is based solely on the pizza. My wife was in Rockford visiting family and was able to bring a pizza on board her flight home (the owner was very accommodating in that he prepared an unbaked pizza for her with instructions on what to do with it when she got home). Frankly, this was the best deep dish pizza I've ever had. We had the Italian beef and cheese and on that experience alone this place is worth the five stars. Actually, this place is worth the five stars on just the pizza SAUCE, which again, I'm fairly confident it's the best I've ever had. I don't generally look forward to going to my wife's hometown (no offense), but the next time I am there I will look forward to stopping by Maciano's for some excellent pizza.

I really enjoy having this restaurant near my home. The food is great and the prices are fair. There are a lot of carry out nights at our house and having great food so close makes it nice. Unfortunately it's right next to my gym so I'm always forced to feel guilty as I smell delicious pizza and breadsticks and walk past the gym :/

Review of the "Double Dough" style pizza by Chicago native: the flavor of sauce and toppings was excellent/top notch. Dough is on the sweet side and not enough "chew." The breadsticks with marinara were excellent. Canoli was average. Delivery to the Hilton Garden Inn was prompt and arrived hot.

A cute place in a little strip mall off of Harrison, this Italian restaurant really hit the spot. Though they were a little busy for lunch, my mom and I arrived just before a rush and managed to get a booth in the back. Our waiter seemed to be taking care of the majority of the tables, but he still managed to get us drinks and take our orders quickly. I got the shrimp scampi, which came with a salad, that could be made garden or caesar for no extra charge. Both the meal and the salad came in huge portions and included a little side of bread. The scampi was delicious, and not too buttery/oily. Also a decent pasta to shrimp ratio (I hate when places skimp and shrimp). Considering we had a lunch schedule to work with and this was a busy sit-down place, we got in and out quickly without being rushed and nice service to boot. I'd come back for another lovely lunch (and try to leave room for the tiramisu).

Our favorite sit down pizza restaurant in the Rockford area. Thin crust pizza is ggod and always served hot and fresh. Menu variety is good so you can have an Italian entree other than pizza. Try the vodka cream sauce, it is red and tasty. Servers are the best in town. Kudos to whomever selects, hires and trains them. They should be a consultant for the big chains. They know how to pick em. Everyone is friendly and attentive. Food is consistently good, served hot and the portions are generously sized. I notice many couples seem to agree with us as each restaurant is very busy from 6-8 each weekend night. Now we have made Wednesday pizza night to avoid the weekend crowds. Happy they are doing so well, they earn our business every time we visit. Oh, and bottled domestic and imported beers are only $2, what a deal!

This is the best restaurant in Rockford! The food is great and the service is outstanding. The food is not a "Wanta be Italian" it's the real thing!

First place that we found after moving here from Chicago that makes a good Chicago deep dish and Stuffed Pizza. Salads are good here too. Love the spinach, apple and gorgonzola salad.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
