My husband and I flew here from just outside Chicago, just to take a short flight on a nice day and have some dinner. He'd been here before, but it was my first visit. He had the mini burgers with a lemonade (he's the pilot, I'm the passenger) and I had the Cobb salad and a gin and tonic. We sat outside and it was really nice. Food, drinks and service were all good, and we are looking forward to coming back again.

We had to make a few trips to the skydive center because of the weather. So while waiting a few times and when our ladies finally jumped, we hung out here at the Flight Deck. Now these were all early morning or noon visits. So that does have an effect on any bar and grill. We did eat there once and the food was great. The service was good and friendly too. During one visit, I tried a beer and didn't like it much. The waitress noticed it and took it off the bill without asking. That is great service. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because i felt the breakfast menu could be a little bit more on the options side.

It's worth a trip to Rochelle! The food was really good. We had the Special of the day, Chicken Pico de gallo on a Pita & my husband has the Western MAC. Both were full of flavor and made with fresh ingredients. They were served quickly and hot even though we arrived at lunch time. Full bar and the most friendly efficient people ever. Katelyn and Emily were on it! They gave us some terrific recommendations for "fun in Rochelle on a cloudy day". Obviously we're here to skydive at CSC. If you find yourself in Rochelle or close make the effort to visit.

Had dinner after ball games with my family. The menu was great, very diverse, something for everyone. Service was quick and friendly. We called ahead and it was a good thing because they were very busy, but I didn't see anyone waiting very long. Kids got the ribeye and it was amazing! Would definitely come back if we were in the area.

The Flight Deck is great! The service is very friendly, helpful, and attentive. The first time we went there, we were pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere, the food and drink choices, and the quality and taste of the food. We both had grilled chicken sandwiches and their homemade fries. The chicken was well seasoned and juicy, the chips were interesting and tasty. Our server kept our drinks refilled and talked a lot to us. It was about 3 pm so it wasn't very busy yet (it does get quite busy a little later on) The place is decorated nicely, with all the airplane type stuff all about. The back windows of the place are actually a huge door that can be opened up on to the patio in warmer times and you can watch people skydive right from the patio. We highly recommend Flight Deck!

We enjoy eating at the Flight deck because our children love watching the planes and skydivers. The food is pretty good and reasonably priced. The service leaves much to be desired though. There have been a few times we made plans to eat dinner there, only to show up and it was closed for a large party. You either cater to large parties or have a functioning restaurant. If you do not have space to do both then pick one or the other. Since there are so few options in the Rochelle area, we do end up going back. I do think that if there was more options we probably would avoid the Flight deck because of the service.

The food is ok to good, when you can actually get it! I waited for a second trip to the Flight Deck bar and grill before writing this review because I was afraid the first experience was an exception and not the rule. But the 2nd experience was worse than the first. It is obvious that this place only is still open due to the lack of other options at the skydiving center. We flew in both times specifically to eat here. This time there were 4 tables open, but we still had to wait almost 20 minutes for the hostess to get around to seating us. She was doing everything but to make sure the tables were filled. Once seated it took about 5 minutes for the watiress to finally find us. We were right at the end of the lunch rush so she was busy dealing with everyone's check. We finally flaged her down, ordered drinks, that took another 5-8 minutes for the waters to arrive. Then before we had a chance to order she ran off. We finished our drinks and she still had not returned. I had to flag her down again. We ordered, asked for refills on our drinks and the long wati started. After 15 minutes I flagged her down once more to remind her we were still waiting for drinks. We finally got them. 30 more minutes passed and that is when she finally told us they could not make what we ordered because they ran out of wraps. SIGH! We left. This experience pretty much mirrored our first one, but at least then we got our salads. It is obvious that there is little to no organization in the place with staff that is not all that good. We will not be back and will pass on to the pilot community to also give this place a pass for other fly-in/eat destinations.

For my first time having breakfast at the Flight Deck, the service was not as good as before. The server didn't get more hot water for my tea or enough regular sugar packets. They did check on us, but they weren't attentive enough and the place wasn't packed so I'm not sure what happened. If you are either a tea or churro snob like me, you should look elsewhere to appease your cravings. However, the view is still nice, the tables with USB ports and the free wifi are still cool, the chicken tenders and sweet potato fries from their regular menu are still recommended, and despite the food being a bit pricey and under seasoned, I still think they use quality ingredients.

Very disappointed table of 4. The soup was cold and only served to us upon our request.it took over an hr to get 1 burger one chicken sandwhich and tuna salad. When our food finally arrived my burger was burnt as we're the sweet potato fries. Also it was missing the horseradish sauce that was on the menu. My friends tuna salad had no avacado when we brought this to our waitress attention she told us they were out of avacado. She said that she would tell her manager who never came to out table. She end up takin 10% off our bill. We were very disappointed in the quilaty and the over all experience. It a dirty shame because it is a cool place. Not woth the one star I am forced to give.

This was our third time visiting for dinner. The food has always been very good. In my opinion their signature mac & cheese and sliders are the two best items. This was the first time where the service was very slow. Our waiter was very personable and polite but it took entirely too long for everything. Starting with the drink order, the soup, dinner, check and payment it was frustratingly slow. Granted they were very busy but we were sitting next to another couple that was seated a few minutes before us. They had their meal and were gone a good 45 minutes before us. I like their food and atmosphere and we will be going back. Hopefully the service will be better.

Great food, great service, and great atmosphere! We even got to see some skydivers jumping. Our group had the steak sliders, the Cobb salad, and the canopy wrap and all the dishes were awesome!

Had dinner here on the last Wednesday of the month, so it was quite busy due to the trivia game. We did not play the trivia, but it looked like a lot of fun. Food was ok... And I found the Cobb salad a bit expensive... It only had spring lettuce, one egg, some tomatoes and bacon.. More like a side salad. Wings and burgers were typical. Atmosphere was fun... So although the food was ok... Would return for a fun trivia night and cocktails.

Great food as always but you really need to work on the service. Last visit it took forever for food and server kept forgetting requests. Tonight our server rushed us out of there.. She took away my fork before I was finished eating and the appetizer. She clearly rushed us so she could leave work.

The food is fantastic! The servers are friendly. You can't beat the location, BUT!! It needs better managing. The kitchen is under-staffed and too small for the crowds that this place draws. The wait staff is assigned all over the place. The same waitress has customers outside, inside - just all over the restaurant. It took far too long to get waited on and way too long for my food. Some extra kitchen help and assigning the wait staff to a specific area would be a great improvement. -- More umbrella tables outside would be nice too.

Great atmosphere when the sky diving is in session. Good food. They make homemade chips which I'm normally a sucker for but sometimes theirs are chewy and not crisp. My hubby gets a burger every time with chopped brisket, Gouda and onion rings on it. I enjoy the turkey burger, the veggie wrap and the portobello sandwich in my rotation. Overall good experiences there and this is really the best restaurant you'll find in Rochelle for lunch. The service is great during a weekday when they're slow but look out when they get busy on a weekend; very slow service on weekends. My feedback to the ownership/management : MORE SEASONAL BEERS ON TAP, PLEASE! Would've loved to have had a Leininkugal Shandy, a Dogfish Head or Sam Adams seasonal on tap. Also, PLEASE CRISP UP YOUR CHIPS. I'd give this a 3 1/2 stars if possible. Better than average food. Great atmosphere in the summer and early fall. The best thing Rochelle has going.

It was more A-OK than being a fan but it was better than only three stars. That make sense? I don't like labeling starts. I can do that in my review OK enough of my being a curmudgeon. I was on my own so no lovely bride food to discuss only mine which was the D. B. Cooper burger and it was tasty. Had the signature chips and they too were tasty. Not much more you can say about food when it is OK. The service was good. It was perhaps to attentive as I was asked no less than four times how everything was, but I had two servers one being a trainee. Being called 'honey' buy a young attractive 20 something was a bit annoying but I guess it was better than curmudgeon :-) The view was nice, the place was way clean including restrooms. The going out the door is if I was more local to the Flight Deck I'd be a semi frequent customer but it is a half hour plus away, so I will probably return for taking my lovely bride for something different or a nice drive thing

A nice, bright environment that's great for lunch. The fish tacos are surprisingly filling, don't let the size fool you! The deli sandwich is great too. Server was great and the decor was fun and great for anyone who's into aeronautics.

Things I hate...excuses from a manager that tries to excuse closing the kitchen when my wallet is full & my stomach is empty and my loved ones have a disproportionate amount of booze to food ratio. It could have been a beautiful exchange of money for food, a fair trade no? Instead I got face palm and the lack of motivation to justify the amount of labor being used to close up the kitchen at 9:38 when the menu clearly states the kitchen serves good till 11pm. Got somewhere to go? My stomach is hangry!!! Not forgiveable...ever!!! 2 thumbs down for half sincere excuses. Lame!!!

The food is good but the service (3 visits) has been well below par (very slow). I would suggest going but note the disclaimer don't be in a hurry if you decide to go.

Awesome place to hang out, make sure you have a lot of time because the kitchen is really slow. Fried pickles are amazing!!

I found this place while out riding. Would make a great fly in Dinner or lunch for a 100 dollar hamburger. Very clean and very good food. Service was a little slow but they had a concert/fair going on and the evening staff was just starting but everything else made up for it. Plus a great view of the airport and skydivers. It's on my radar now.

The Otter burger is best. Great atmosphere and wonderful service/food. We had a party of 25+, not a probelm. Sat Aug 30 8pm was our visit. Hungry soccer girls. Thank you!

This was a $100 hamburger trip. I had an urge to fly, so we jumped in the plane and flew up to Rochelle to try out The Flight Deck Bar & Grill. Okay, not the bar - I was flying the plane, and it's 8 hours from bottle to throttle, so my beer was root beer. We started with their Ceasar salad, which we shared - good thing - it was big enough to be a meal. The only thing it was missing was the anchovies. For the main course, my wife ordered the steak sandwich on toasted garlic bread, and I tried their entree menu and ordered their filet mignon. Her sandwich was good, however it was served with home made chips which really needed either vinegar, or to be lightly sprayed with oil and then salted. Service was a little slow, and the restaurant wasn't slammed, so I'm guessing this is status-quo. My filet was cooked properly (I ordered medium rare, and that's how it came out). It was sized right for an 8 ounce filet, but it was around an inch thick - most places go for the thicker cut, although that would extend the cooking time. This place has a full bar, a Touchtunes jukebox, and 3 slot machines (as well as 2 cash stations at the entrance. The bathrooms were clean. The major customer supply here is from the skydive crowd. If you don't know what that's like, well, it's pretty eclectec in general. If you tend to be a prude, you might not enjoy this place.

Good food, good view, can't beat that. This place isn't just for lunch prior to sky diving, it's a nice place to see the planes on a nice day and watch other people fall from the sky while you sit comfortably and enjoy an ice cold beer.

Took my family here for dinner.I ordered the ribeye steak. It was horrible. No flavor ,poor cut of meat.It is a $28 steak. My wife ordered the spinach salad with steak .It was terrible as well.My kids got the mini cheeseburgers, they were terrible. Our service was horrible as well.We told our server about the poor quality of food. Then the manager came over and said let me take $20 off your bill and give you a gift card.I obliged,The waitress came back with the check, they took off $19 and gave us a $10 gift card for our next visit.Which I thought was not good enough.I don't understand why the service was so bad. There were only 4 tables with people.Do not eat here.

Really sweet and attentive servers at this family style restaurant + sports bar, but I was unimpressed with the quantity of food provided for a midwestern place. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with asparagus (which was the chef's vegetable). I was not happy that my grilled asparagus seemed burnt instead of "charred", and my chicken sandwich was a bit bland. However, the ingredients were fresh, and I didn't feel stuffed and food coma afterwards, which is also good (but I was a bit hungry still! haha!). The service was very nice, and I really enjoyed watching parachuters come down while I was eating and chatting. Great airport and great airport restaurant!

Finally! A place in Rochelle to enjoy great food and have drinks with friends and family. We have visited Flight Deck several times and have enjoyed each visit. The food is great - we have had the parmesan chips, garlic chicken, burgers and chicken parmesan when it was on special. It is obvious that the food is made fresh to order.

I just spent the weekend visiting Chicagoland Skydiving Center and I have to say the food here is absolutely fantastic! Clean facilities, awesome views of skydiving and great energy! Every point of contact that I had with staff was excellent. What really surprised me as the quality of the food. The food was excellent with a wide variety on the menu. I highly recommend the DB Cooper burger. I also had the Cobb Salad with Chicken which was also excellent. Come early as they get busy especially on the weekends, but this is the best place to eat in Rochelle....hands down!

Food was good. Waitress was friendly. Time it took to get our food seem to take to long. From the time we gave our order to when our food arrived was about 30-35 minutes.

Great menu - quite a variety of appetizers and entrees. I had the fried pickles and the 4 Cheese Mac - absolutely awesome!

Great menu and friendly staff that are always exuberant and efficient. Excellent service and accommodating as well. I already have a personal favorite from the menu being the fried pickles - MUST TRY them when you come! Their menu options range from mini filet sliders - another personal favorite - to burgers cooked to your special request or yummy tilapia tacos! We frequent Flight deck at least once a week and have been satisfied every time. Great place for a family to have a meal or to meet pals for cocktails. Fun place!

I'm giving this place three stars only because I think it would be a fun place if you weren't planing to eat.. My husband and I went here on a Saturday night(with a reservation) and they were pretty busy. After we were seated we noticed most people already had there food so we had hope we wouldn't be there ALL night. We were wrong it took an hour for our appitzer of onion rings? After getting those another hour for our food which neither of us were pleased with, nothing I couldn't make at home really! I can understand it being a busy Saturday night but I've been much busier places and waited less for food I was actually happy with!! I think if your going for lunch or a dinner in a weeknight it might be worth a try I think the place has potential .. Maybe just an off night?

Found this place on yelp while driving home from St. Louis. The service was excellent and everyone was really friendly. Ordered two appetizers which were homemade and tasted awesome. The entrees were another story. The DB Cooper burger I ordered was cooked perfectly but lacked seasoning. My fiancée thought the tilapia plate she ordered was fresh but really bland. I am giving four out of five stars because although the entrees lacked any wow factor, everything was obviously cooked fresh, the restaurant one of the cleanest I have seen and the service excellent. A great place for appetizers and beer (they have a large selection). I recommend the Guinness battered pickles and the homemade chips!

Great food and service. Took longer to be served than normal but they were crazy busy! We'll definitely return!

Tried this place when we went for my first skydiving experience. We did not expect much, given that it is a restaurant attached to the dove center. We were pleasantly wrong. My husband had the DB Cooper burger - big, juicy, perfectly cooked. Dad's portobello panino was stuffed with grilled mushrooms with just the right seasoning. My Canopy Wrap was overstuffed with fresh chicken and crunchy lettuce on the right proportions to be satisfying. This place is worth a visit, even if you are not skydiving.

Very happy with the food and service at Rochelle's new in-place! We each had the tenderloin which was cooked perfectly (2 different cooking styles). The sides were delicious and the bleu cheese topping for the steak was superb! Nice wine to accompany it. I ordered a side salad which was presented nicely and at just the right interval before my dinner. I WILL be back! Kudos to our server as well! Everyone was attentive and took very good care of us on a very busy Saturday night!

I came here on Sunday with family for lunch. As it was Mother's Day the place was very busy, but our food still came out quick and it was delicious. We ordered chips and salsa and onion rings for an appetizer - all of which is homemade. The salsa was so good we asked for some to go and were accommodated. Most of our party ordered burgers and all were cooked to perfection and delicious. For dessert we ordered and shared the dessert nachos....holy crap these are amazing!

I am so outraged by the service here. Me and 7 other friends went here under a living social deal and had of the worst service in history. We ate at the new restaurant, a meal and drink was included in our living social package. We ordered two sets of appetizers, and 6 burgers and 2 brats, in which we chose from a list of about 6 items we could chose from from our living social deal. When we arrived the staff didn't even know about the food voucher but you would think management would have made all staff aware of the big living social group coming. We waited 45 minutes, without our waiter even looking our way to check on us or let us know about any status of food. Finally a friend decided to go ask the waiter, whom was just standing by the kitchen looking like a deer caught in lights, about the status of our appetizers since its had been over there for 45 minutes. She got right on it but while waiting for her to come back, another waiter while talking her coworker, says "Ugh I hate African Americans!". When they realize my friend is in shock looking at them after hearing that comment they quickly disperse. Then comes back the waiter with the appetizers and literally HANDS my friend her food instead of being the waiter she is paid to be and bringing them over to the table with proper utensils, napkins, and condiments. Now after a hour and 15 minutes, I had a conversation with the waiter and she said that our food was taking so long because we ordered "special" burgers, despite they were medium well and 2 of the orders were brats. There was nothing special about our order, especially since burgers were coming out of the kitchen to people who entered the restaurant AFTER us and ordered AFTER us and were eating while we continue to wait. But it wasn't until another group of living social guys, who came in about 30 minutes after us, received their burgers that we became completely over the situation. It became very clear that we were the only black people in the establishment yet was receieving the worst service you could ever think of, yet everybody's service was just fine aside of us. Then another person from our party said she was going to go speak to the manager, but when she arrived to the front and the waiter told the manager she wanted to speak to him, not even 5 feet away, the manager indicated "I don't want to speak to her so I don't know what you want me to do.". Our food arrives after almost 2 hours of just waiting, and just our burgers, because we had to wait another 10 minutes for our fries that come with the meal! Mind you the burgers weren't even on buns, it was on hard ciabatta bread because they ran out of buns. After we got out food, the owner came out to talk to us apologizing for his staff, which was very nice, BUT the fact that we were knowingly discriminated against should be grounds for dismissal for some of that staff, some things SHOULDN'T be unexceptionable. The fact that people came in after us, ordered food, ate food, and paid and left, all the while we were still waiting on our food is just horrible. We all tried to make the best of the situation despite it all, because we were there celebrating two of our friend's birthday that very day. And when it looked like it couldn't get any worse. I come home and my pictures that I paid over one hundred dollars for of my skydiving jump, isn't even on the disk. A blank disk!!!! It's been 2 days since I've emailed them (after calling and being told to email their media guy) and haven't heard anything back. I spoke with them this morning and basically was told he'll email me. You know, my skydiving experience, itself, was amazing, but all of this negativity has totally demised that entire moment. Thanks Chicago Skydiving Center for the worst service ever, I will never spend a penny with you guys again! I wish I could take my money back because it was totally a waste.
